śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | hato rājā hato rājā pratirājena saṃyuge | itiśabde samudbhūte rāṣṭramāsīd bhayākulam || 1 ||
Shri Vasistha said: The king is killed, the king is killed in battle by Pratiraja. Upon hearing this, the kingdom was filled with fear.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: राजा मारा गया, राजा मारा गया प्रतिराजा द्वारा युद्ध में | इस शब्द के उठने पर राष्ट्र भय से भर गया |
भाण्डोपस्करभाराढ्यं विद्रवच्छकटव्रजम् | साक्रन्दार्तकलत्राढ्यं द्रवन्नागरदुर्गमम् || २ ||
bhāṇḍopaskarabhārāḍhyaṃ vidravacchakaṭavrajam | sākrandārtakalatrāḍhyaṃ dravannāgaradurgamam || 2 ||
The city was filled with people carrying their belongings and fleeing in carts, with women crying and wailing, and the fort was being abandoned.
शहर में लोग अपने सामान लेकर गाड़ियों में भाग रहे थे, महिलाएं रोती और चीखती थीं, और दुर्ग खाली कर दिया जा रहा था।
पलायमानसाक्रन्दं मार्गाहृतवधूगणम् | अन्योन्यलुण्ठनव्यग्रलोकलग्नमहाभयम् || ३ ||
palāyamānasākrandaṃ mārgāhṛtavadhūgaṇam | anyonyaluṇṭhanavyagralokalaṅgamahābhayam || 3 ||
The people were fleeing, crying and wailing, with women being dragged along the roads, and there was great fear as people looted each other's belongings.
लोग भाग रहे थे, रोते और चीखते हुए, महिलाएं सड़कों पर खींची जा रही थीं, और लोग एक दूसरे के सामान लूट रहे थे, जिससे महान भय फैल गया।
परराष्ट्रजनानीकताण्डवोल्लाससारवम् | निरधिष्ठितमातङ्गहयवीरपतज्जनम् || ४ ||
pararāṣṭrajanānīkatāṇḍavollāsasāravam | niradhiṣṭhitamātaṅgahayavīrapatājjanaṃ || 4 ||
The enemy army was rejoicing and dancing, with elephants and horses running wild, and the brave warriors were falling.
शत्रु सेना नाच रही थी और खुशी मना रही थी, हाथी और घोड़े बेकाबू हो रहे थे, और बहादुर योद्धा गिर रहे थे।
कपाटपाटनोड्डीनकोशान्तरवघर्घरम् | लुण्ठितासंख्यकौशेयप्रावृताभिभटोद्भटम् || ५ ||
kapāṭapāṭanōḍḍīnakośāntaravaghargharam | luṇṭhitāsaṃkhyakauśeyaprāvṛtābhibhaṭodbhaṭam || 5 ||
The doors were being broken open, and the sound of treasure chests being opened echoed. The warriors were being attacked, and the silk garments were being looted.
दरवाजे तोड़े जा रहे थे, और खजाने के संदूकों के खुलने की आवाज गूंज रही थी। योद्धाओं पर हमला हो रहा था, और रेशमी कपड़े लूटे जा रहे थे।
क्षुरिकोत्पाटितार्द्रान्त्रमृतराजगृहाङ्गनम् | राजान्तःपुरविश्रान्तचण्डालश्वपचोत्करम् || ६ ||
kṣurikotpāṭitārdārntamṛtarājagṛhāṅganam | rājāntaḥpuraviśrāntacaṇḍālaśvapacotkaram || 6 ||
A woman from the royal palace, whose intestines have been cut open by a razor, is lying in the inner quarters of the palace, and a Chandala (outcaste) is resting there.
एक राजमहल की महिला, जिसके आंत उस्तरे से काट दिए गए हैं, राजमहल के भीतरी भाग में पड़ी हुई है, और एक चांडाल (अछूत) वहाँ विश्राम कर रहा है।
गृहापहृतभोज्यान्नभोजनोन्मुखपामरम् | सहेमहारवीरौघपादाहतरुदच्छिशु || ७ ||
gṛhāpahṛtabhojyānnabhojanonmukhapāmaram | sahemahāravīraughapādāhatarudacchishu || 7 ||
A child who is crying because he has been hit by the feet of a group of great warriors, who have stolen food from the house and are about to eat it.
एक बच्चा जो रो रहा है क्योंकि उसे घर से खाने के लिए चोरी कर लिए गए भोजन को खाने वाले एक समूह के महान योद्धाओं के पैरों से मारा गया है।

apūrvataruṇākrāntakeśāntaḥpurikāṅganam | corahastacyutānarghyaratnadanturamārgagam || 8 ||
A woman from the inner quarters of the palace, whose hair has been seized by a young man, and who has dropped precious jewels from her hand while running on a rough path.
एक राजमहल की महिला, जिसके बाल एक युवक द्वारा पकड़े गए हैं, और जिसके हाथ से कीमती रत्न गिर गए हैं जब वह एक खड़ी सड़क पर भाग रही थी।
हयेभरथसंघट्टव्यग्रसामन्तमण्डलम् | अभिषेकोद्यमादेशपरमन्त्रिपुरःसरम् || ९ ||
hayebharathasaṃghaṭṭavyagrasāmantamaṇḍalam | abhiṣekodyamādeśaparamantripuraḥsaram || 9 ||
A minister who is eager to perform the coronation ceremony, surrounded by a circle of eager feudal lords who are clashing with their chariots and elephants.
एक मंत्री जो राज्याभिषेक समारोह करने के लिए उत्सुक है, जो अपने रथों और हाथियों से टकरा रहे उत्सुक सामंतों के चक्र से घिरा हुआ है।

The beloved king who has fallen into a pit filled with the corpses of horses and elephants, which was dug for the construction of the capital city.
प्रिय राजा जो राजधानी के निर्माण के लिए खोदी गई एक गड्ढे में गिर गया है, जिसमें घोड़ों और हाथियों की लाशें भरी हुई हैं।
जयशब्दशतोद्धोषसिन्धुराजन्यनिर्भरम् | असंख्यनिजराजौघधृतसिन्धुकृतास्थिति || ११ ||
jayashabdashatoddhoshasiṃdurājanyanirbharam | asaṃkhyanijarājaughadhṛtasiṃdhukṛtāsthiti || 11 ||
The sound of victory resounded a hundred times, making the ocean king proud. The countless kings, bearing the burden of the ocean, stood firm.
जय की पुकार सौ बार हुई, जिससे समुद्र राजा का अहंकार बढ़ गया | असंख्य राजाओं ने समुद्र का बोझ उठाया और दृढ़ता से खड़े हुए ||
ग्रामान्तरसमाक्रान्तविद्रवद्राजवल्लभम् | मण्डलान्तरसंजातनगरग्रामलुण्ठनम् || १२ ||
grāmāntarasamākrāntavidravadrājavallabham | maṇḍalāntarasaṃjātanagaragrāmaluṇṭhanam || 12 ||
The beloved king fled, surrounded by other villages. The looting of cities and villages arose from other regions.
प्रिय राजा भाग गया, दूसरे गाँवों से घिरा हुआ | दूसरे क्षेत्रों से नगरों और गाँवों की लूट हुई ||
अनन्तचोरमोषार्थरुद्धमार्गगमागमम् | महानुभाववैधुर्यसनीहारदिनातपम् || १३ ||
anantacoramoshārtharuddhamārgagamāgamam | mahānubhāvavaidhuryasanīhāradinātapam || 13 ||
The endless theft by thieves blocked the path. The intense heat of the sun increased the suffering of the great beings.
अनन्त चोरों द्वारा चोरी करने के कारण रास्ता रुक गया | सूर्य की तीव्र गर्मी ने महानुभावों की पीड़ा बढ़ा दी ||
मृतबन्धुजनाक्रन्दैर्मृततूर्यरवैरपि | हयेभरथशब्दैश्च पिण्डग्राह्यघनध्वनि || १४ ||
mṛtabandhujanākrandairmṛtatūryaravairapi | hayebharathashabdaiśca piṇḍagrāhyaghanadhvani || 14 ||
With the cries of the dead relatives and the sound of the dead instruments, and the noise of the elephants and chariots, there was a dense sound.
मृत बंधुजनों की चीखें और मृत वाद्यों की आवाज़ के साथ, और हाथियों और रथों की आवाज़ के साथ, घना शब्द था ||
सिन्धुदेवो जयत्येकच्छत्रभूमण्डलाधिपः | इत्यनन्तरमारेभे भेर्यः प्रतिपुरं तदा || १५ ||
siṃdhudevo jayatyekacchatrabhūmaṇḍalādhipaḥ | ityanantaramārebe bheryaḥ pratipuraṃ tadā || 15 ||
The ocean king, victorious as the sole ruler of the earth, then began to sound the drums in every city.
समुद्र राजा, पृथ्वी का एकमात्र शासक होने के नाते विजयी, फिर हर नगर में ड्रम बजाने लगा ||
राजधानीं विवेशाथ सिन्धुरुद्धुरकन्धरः | प्रजाः स्रष्टुं युगस्यान्ते मनुर्जगदिवापरः || १६ ||
rājadhānīṃ viveśātha sindhuruddhurakandharaḥ | prajāḥ sraṣṭuṃ yugasyānte manurjagadivāparaḥ || 16 ||
Then, the one with shoulders like the Sindhu and the mountains entered the capital, as if Manu was creating beings at the end of the yuga.
फिर, सिंधु और पर्वतों जैसे कंधे वाला राजधानी में प्रवेश किया, मानो मनु युग के अंत में प्रजा की सृष्टि कर रहे हों।
प्रवृत्ता दशदिग्भ्योऽथ प्रवेष्टुं सैन्धवं पुरम् | कराः करिहयाकारै रत्नपूरा इवाम्बुधिम् || १७ ||
pravṛttā daśadigbhyo'tha praveṣṭuṃ saindhavaṃ puram | karāḥ karihayākārai ratnapūrā ivāmbudhim || 17 ||
Then, from all ten directions, they moved to enter the city of Sindhu, with hands like elephant trunks, filled with jewels, as if entering the ocean.
फिर, सभी दस दिशाओं से, वे सिंधु नगर में प्रवेश करने के लिए आगे बढ़े, हाथी की सूंड़ जैसे हाथों के साथ, जो रत्नों से भरे हुए थे, मानो समुद्र में प्रवेश कर रहे हों।

nibandhanāni chihnāni śāsanāni diśaṃ prati | kṣaṇān niveśayāmāsur maṇḍalaṃ prati mantrīṇaḥ || 18 ||
The ministers immediately established bonds, signs, and orders in every direction towards the kingdom.
मंत्री ने तुरंत ही राज्य की ओर हर दिशा में बंधन, चिह्न और आदेश स्थापित कर दिए।
उदभूदचिरेणैव देशे देशे पुरे पुरे | जीविते मरणे माने नियमोऽयमतो यथा || १९ ||
udabhūdacireṇaiva deśe deśe pure pure | jīvite maraṇe māne niyamo'yamato yathā || 19 ||
In every region and city, a rule quickly arose regarding life, death, and honor.
हर क्षेत्र और नगर में, जीवन, मृत्यु और सम्मान के बारे में एक नियम शीघ्र ही उभरा।
अथ शेमुर्निमेषेण देशोपप्लवविभ्रमाः | प्रशान्तोत्पातपवनाः पदार्थावृत्तयो यथा || २० ||
atha śemurnimeṣeṇa deśopaplavavibhramāḥ | praśāntotpātapavanāḥ padārthāvṛttayo yathā || 20 ||
Then, in an instant, the regional disturbances and confusions calmed down, and the natural order was restored.
फिर, एक पल में, क्षेत्रीय उथल-पुथल और भ्रम शांत हो गए, और प्राकृतिक व्यवस्था बहाल हो गई।
सौम्यतामाजगामाशु देशो दशदिगन्वितः | क्षीरोदः क्षुभितावर्तो द्रागिवोद्धृतमन्दरः || २१ ||
saumyatāmājagāmāśu deśo daśadiganvitaḥ | kṣīrodaḥ kṣubhitāvarto drāgivoddhṛtamandaraḥ || 21 ||
The land, which is endowed with ten directions, quickly attained gentleness, like the ocean of milk with its waves disturbed, as if the Mandara mountain had been lifted.
दस दिशाओं से युक्त देश शीघ्र ही सौम्यता प्राप्त कर ली, जैसे क्षीर सागर में लहरें उठी हों, मानो मन्दराचल उठाया गया हो।
ववुरलकचयान्विलोलयन्तो मुखकमलालिकुलानि सैन्धवीनाम् | जललववलनाकुलाः समीरा अशिवगुणानिव सर्वतः क्षणेन || २२ ||
vavuralakacayānvilolayanto mukhakamalālikulāni saindhavīnām | jalalavavalanākulāḥ samīrā aśivaguṇāniv sarvataḥ kṣaṇena || 22 ||
The winds, agitated by the waves of water, quickly spread the auspicious qualities everywhere, swaying the clusters of lotus flowers in the mouths of the Saindhavas.
पानी की लहरों से उत्तेजित वायुएँ शीघ्र ही सभी ओर शुभ गुणों को फैलाती हैं, सैन्धवों के मुख कमलों के समूहों को हिलाती हुईं।
