śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | prāpya rājā puraḥ prāptaṃ sindhumuddhurakandharam | madhyāhnatapanāntena kopena vitatobhavat || 1 ||
Śrīvasiṣṭha said: Having reached the city, the king, enraged by the midday heat, became expansive.
श्रीवसिष्ठ ने कहा: शहर तक पहुंचकर, राजा दोपहर की गर्मी से क्रोधित हो गया और विस्तृत हो गया।
धनुरास्फालयामास चिरारावितदिङ्मुखम् । कल्पान्तपवनास्फोट इव मेरुगिरेस्तटम् || २ ||
dhanaurāsphālayāmāsa cirārāvitadiṅmukham | kalpāntapavanāsphoṭa iva merugirestataṭam || 2 ||
He drew his bow, which had been roaring for a long time, like the sound of the wind at the end of the world on the slopes of Mount Meru.
उसने अपने धनुष को खींचा, जो लंबे समय से गरज रहा था, जैसे प्रलय के समय की हवा की आवाज मेरु पर्वत की ढलान पर।
विससर्जोर्जितो राजा प्रलयार्कः करानिव । तूणीररजनीबद्धाः शिलीमुखपरम्पराः || ३ ||
visasarjorjito rājā pralayārkaḥ karāniva | tūṇīrarajanībaddhāḥ śilīmukhaparamparāḥ || 3 ||
The enraged king released arrows like the rays of the sun at the end of the world, bound in the quiver, in succession.
क्रोधित राजा ने प्रलय के समय के सूर्य की किरणों की तरह तीर छोड़े, जो तरकश में बंधे हुए थे, एक के बाद एक।
एक एव विनिर्याति गुणात्तस्य शिलीमुखः । सहस्रं भवति व्योम्नि गच्छन्पतति लक्षशः || ४ ||
eka eva viniryāti guṇāttasya śilīmukhaḥ | sahasraṃ bhavati vyomni gacchanpatati lakṣaśaḥ || 4 ||
Just one arrow, due to its quality, becomes a thousand in the sky, falling in hundreds of thousands.
एक ही तीर, उसके गुणों के कारण, आकाश में हजार हो जाता है, लाखों में गिरता है।
मुसला नाम ते बाणा मुसलाकृतयोऽम्बरम् । छादयामासुरुन्नादाः कल्पान्ताशनयो यथा || ६ ||
musalā nāma te bāṇā musalākṛtayo'mbaram | chādayāmāsurunnādāḥ kalpāntāśanayo yathā || 6 ||
Those arrows, named Musala, shaped like clubs, covered the sky with their sound, like the roar of the fire at the end of the world.
उन तीरों का नाम मुसला था, जो गदा के आकार के थे, वे अपनी आवाज से आकाश को ढक गए, जैसे प्रलय के समय की आग की गर्जना की तरह।
रेजुः कनकनाराचराजयो व्योम्नि सस्वनाः | रसन्त्यः कल्पवातार्ताः पतन्त्य इव तारकाः || ७ ||
rejuḥ kanakanārācarājayo vyomni sasvanāḥ | rasantyaḥ kalpavātārtāḥ patanty iva tārakāḥ || 7 ||
The golden arrows, shining like lightning in the sky, fell like stars shaken by the wind of the Kalpa.
सोने के तीर, आकाश में बिजली की तरह चमकते हुए, कल्प की हवा से हिले हुए तारों की तरह गिरे।
विदूरथाच्छरासारा अजस्रमभिनिर्ययुः | अब्धेरिव पयःपूराः सूर्यादिव मरीचयः || ८ ||
vidūrathāccharāsārā ajasramabhiniryayuḥ | abdheriva payaḥpūrāḥ sūryādiva marīcayaḥ || 8 ||
The arrows from Vidūratha's bow continuously flowed like water from the ocean, and like rays from the sun.
विदूरथ के धनुष से बाण लगातार बहते रहे, जैसे समुद्र से पानी और सूर्य से किरणें।
प्रचण्डपवनोद्धूतात्पुष्पाणीव महातरोः | अयःपिण्डादिवोत्तप्तात्ताडितात्कणपङ्कयः || ९ ||
pracaṇḍapavanoddhūtātpuṣpāṇīva mahātaroḥ | ayaḥpiṇḍādivottaptāttāḍitātkāṇapaṅkayaḥ || 9 ||
The arrows fell like flowers blown from a great tree by a fierce wind, and like sparks struck from a heated iron ball.
बाण एक विशाल वृक्ष से तेज हवा द्वारा उड़ाए गए फूलों की तरह और एक गर्म लोहे की गेंद से निकली चिंगारियों की तरह गिरे।
धारा वर्षमुच इव सीकरा इव निर्झरात् | तत्पुराग्निमहादाहात्स्फुलिङ्गा इव भासुराः || १० ||
dhārā varṣamuca iva sīkarā iva nirjharāt | tatpurāgnimahādāhātsphuliṅgā iva bhāsurāḥ || 10 ||
The arrows fell like rain from a cloud, like drops from a waterfall, and like sparks from a great fire.
बाण बादल से बरसती बारिश की तरह, झरने से गिरती बूँदों की तरह, और एक विशाल आग से निकली चिंगारियों की तरह गिरे।
तयोश्चटचटास्फोटं शृण्वत्कोदण्डयोर्द्वयोः | बलद्वयमभूत्प्रेक्षामूकं शान्त इवाम्बुधिः || ११ ||
tayoścaṭacaṭāsphoṭaṃ śṛṇvatkodaṇḍayordvayoḥ | baladvayamabhūtprekṣāmūkaṃ śānta ivāmbudhiḥ || 11 ||
Hearing the clashing sound of the two rods, the two armies stood facing each other, silent like the calm ocean.
दो डंडों की टकराहट की आवाज सुनकर, दोनों सेनाएँ एक-दूसरे के सामने खड़ी हो गईं, शांत समुद्र की तरह चुप।
वहन्ति स्म शरापूरा गङ्गापूरा इवाम्बरे | सिन्धोरभिमुखं युद्धे घर्घरारावरंहसः || १२ ||
vahanti sma śarāpūrā gaṅgāpūrā ivāmbare | sindhorabhimukhaṃ yuddhe ghargharārāvaraṃhasaḥ || 12 ||
The arrows filled the sky like the Ganges river, roaring loudly in the battlefield facing the ocean.
बाणों ने आकाश को गंगा की तरह भर दिया, समुद्र की ओर मुंह करके युद्ध में घरघराहट करते हुए।
कचत्कनकनाराचशरवर्षा अनारतम् | वहच्छवशवाशब्द निर्ययुर्धनुरम्बुदात् || १३ ||
kacatkanakanārācaśaravarṣā anāratam | vahacchavaśavāśabda niryayurdhanurambudāt || 13 ||
A continuous shower of golden-tipped arrows and iron arrows emerged from the cloud of bows, making a hissing sound.
सोने की नोक वाले बाणों और लोहे के बाणों की निरंतर वर्षा धनुष के बादल से निकली, फुफकार की आवाज करते हुए।
बाणमन्दाकिनीपूरं व्रजन्तं सिन्धुपूरणे | वातायनात्तमालोक्य लीला तत्पुरवासिनी || १४ ||
bāṇamandākinīpūraṃ vrajantaṃ sindhupūraṇe | vātāyanāttamālokya līlā tatpuravāsinī || 14 ||
Seeing the arrow that was full of the Mandakini river flowing towards the ocean, Lila, the resident of that city, looked at it playfully.
मंदाकिनी नदी से भरे हुए बाण को समुद्र की ओर बहते हुए देखकर, उस नगर की निवासी लीला ने खेल-खेल में उसे देखा।
तेन बाणसमूहेन जयमाशङ्क्य भर्तरि | उवाच वाक्यमानन्दविकसन्मुखपङ्कजा || १५ ||
tena bāṇasamūhena jayamāśaṅkya bhartari | uvāca vākyamānandavikasanmukhapaṅkajā || 15 ||
Seeing the victory in her husband with that collection of arrows, she spoke words with a face blooming with joy.
उस बाण समूह से अपने पति में विजय देखकर, उसने आनंद से खिले हुए मुख से वचन कहे।
जय देवि जयत्येष नाथोऽस्माकं विलोकय | किंचानेन शरौघेण मेरुरप्येति चूर्णताम् || १६ ||
jaya devi jayaty eṣa nātho'smākaṃ vilokaya | kiṃcānena śaraugheṇa merur apy eti cūrṇatām || 16 ||
Victory, O goddess, see our lord is victorious. Even Mount Meru would be reduced to dust by this shower of arrows.
विजय हो, हे देवी, देखो हमारे स्वामी विजयी हैं। इस बाण वर्षा से तो मेरु पर्वत भी चूर्ण हो जाएगा।
तस्यामेव वदन्त्या तु घनस्नेहरवाकुलम् | प्रेक्षणव्यग्रयोर्देव्योर्हसन्त्योर्मानुषीं हृदा || १७ ||
tasyāmeva vadantyā tu ghanasneharavākulam | prekṣaṇavyagrayordevyorhasantyormānuṣīṃ hṛdā || 17 ||
While she was speaking, her voice was choked with deep affection. The goddesses, with their eyes fixed on her and smiling, felt human emotions in their hearts.
जब वह बोल रही थी, तब उसकी आवाज गहरे स्नेह से भरी हुई थी | देवियाँ, जिनकी आँखें उस पर टिकी हुई थीं और जो मुस्कुरा रही थीं, उनके दिल में मानवीय भावनाएँ उत्पन्न हो गईं |
तच्छरार्णवमामत्तमपिबत्सिन्धुवाडवः | शरोष्मणा ह्यगस्त्येन जह्नुर्मन्दाकिनीमिव || १८ ||
taccharārṇavamāmattamapibatsindhuvāḍavaḥ | śaroṣmaṇā hyagastyena jahnurmandākinīmiva || 18 ||
The ocean of arrows, though intoxicated, was drunk by the fire of the ocean. With the heat of the arrows, Agastya drank the Mandakini river like Jahnu.
बाणों का समुद्र, भले ही मतवाला हो, समुद्र की आग ने पी लिया | बाणों की गर्मी से, अगस्त्य ने जह्नु की तरह मंदाकिनी नदी पी ली |
बाणवर्षेण कणशस्तं सायकमहाघनम् | छित्त्वा तनुरजः कृत्वा चिक्षेप गगनार्णवे || १९ ||
bāṇavarṣeṇa kaṇaśastāṃ saṃ sāyakamahāghanam | chittvā tanurajaḥ kṛtvā cikṣepa gaganārṇave || 19 ||
With a shower of arrows, he cut through that great dense cloud of arrows, making it into fine particles and threw it into the ocean of the sky.
बाणों की वर्षा से, उसने उस घने बाणों के बादल को काट डाला, उसे सूक्ष्म कणों में बदल दिया और आकाश के समुद्र में फेंक दिया |
यथा दीपस्य शान्तस्य न परिज्ञायते गतिः | तस्य सायकसङ्घस्य न विज्ञाता तथा गतिः || २० ||
yathā dīpasya śāntasya na parijñāyate gatiḥ | tasya sāyakasaṅghasya na vijñātā tathā gatiḥ || 20 ||
Just as the movement of an extinguished lamp cannot be perceived, similarly, the movement of that multitude of arrows could not be known.
जैसे बुझे हुए दीपक की गति का पता नहीं चलता, उसी प्रकार उस बाणों के समूह की गति का पता नहीं चला |
तं छित्त्वा सायकासारं शरीराम्बुधरं घनम् | व्योम्नि प्रसारयामास रसाच्छवशतान्वितम् || २१ ||
taṃ chittvā sāyakāsāraṃ śarīrāmbudharaṃ ghanam | vyomni prasārayāmāsa rasācchavaśatānvitam || 21 ||
Having cut that essence of arrows, the dense cloud of bodily waters, he spread it in the sky, filled with hundreds of juices.
उस बाणों के सार को काटकर, शरीर के जल के घने बादल को, उसने आकाश में फैला दिया, सैकड़ों रसों से भरा हुआ |
विदूरथस्तमप्याशु व्यधमत्सायकोत्तमैः | सामान्यजलदं मत्तं कल्पान्तपवनो यथा || २२ ||
vidūrathastamapyāśu vyadhamatsāyakottamaiḥ | sāmānyajaladaṃ mattaṃ kalpāntapavano yathā || 22 ||
Viduratha quickly pierced him with excellent arrows, like a storm cloud at the end of the world.
विदूरथ ने उत्तम बाणों से उसे तुरंत छेद दिया, जैसे प्रलय के समय का तूफानी बादल।
कृतप्रतिकृतैरेवं बाणवर्षैर्महीपती | व्यर्थीकृतैरनयतां प्रहारमविचारणैः || २३ ||
kṛtapratikṛtairevaṃ bāṇavarṣairmahīpatī | vyarthīkṛtairanayatāṃ prahāramavicāraṇaiḥ || 23 ||
Thus, the king, with his arrows rendered useless, continued to strike without consideration.
इस प्रकार, राजा ने अपने बाणों को व्यर्थ करके, बिना सोचे-समझे प्रहार करना जारी रखा।
अथादधे मोहनास्त्रं सिन्धुर्गन्धर्वसौहृदात् | प्राप्तं तेन ययुर्लोका विना मोहं विदूरथात् || २४ ||
athādadhe mohanāstraṃ sindhurgandharvasauhṛdāt | prāptaṃ tena yayurlokā vinā mohaṃ vidūrathāt || 24 ||
Then Sindhu, out of friendship with the Gandharvas, took up the Mohana weapon. With that, the worlds went without confusion from Viduratha.
तब सिंधु ने, गंधर्वों के सौहार्द से, मोहनास्त्र उठाया। उसके द्वारा, लोग विदूरथ से बिना मोह के चले गए।
व्यस्तशस्त्राम्बरा मूका विषण्णवदनेक्षणाः | मृता इवाभवन्योधाश्चित्रन्यस्ता इवाथवा || २५ ||
vyastśastrāmbarā mūkā viṣaṇṇavadanekṣaṇāḥ | mṛtā ivābhavanyodhāścitranyastā ivāthavā || 25 ||
The warriors, with their weapons and armor scattered, became silent and dejected, as if dead, or like a scattered painting.
योद्धा, जिनके हथियार और कवच बिखरे हुए थे, चुप और निराश हो गए, जैसे मरे हुए हों, या फिर एक बिखरी हुई पेंटिंग की तरह।
यावद्विदूरथादन्यं मोहो नयति मन्दताम् | तावद्विदूरथो राजा प्रबोधास्त्रमथाददे || २६ ||
yāvadvidūrathādanyaṃ moho nayati mandatām | tāvadvidūratho rājā prabodhāstramathādade || 26 ||
As long as the confusion from Viduratha led to dullness, King Viduratha took up the Prabodha weapon.
जब तक विदूरथ से मोह मंदता की ओर ले जाता है, तब तक राजा विदूरथ ने प्रबोधास्त्र उठाया।
ततः प्रबोधमापन्नाः प्रजाः प्रातरिवाब्जिनी | विदूरथे भवत्सिन्धुः कुद्धोऽर्क इव राक्षसे || २७ ||
tataḥ prabodhamāpannāḥ prajāḥ prātarivābjinī | vidūrathe bhavatsindhuḥ kuddho'rka iva rākṣase || 27 ||
Then, the people, having regained consciousness like the lotus in the morning, saw the ocean, angry like the sun towards the demon.
तब, लोग, सुबह के कमल की तरह होश में आए, राक्षस के लिए सूर्य की तरह क्रोधित समुद्र को देखा।
नागास्त्रमाददे भीमं पाशबन्धनखेददम् | तेनाभवन्नभो व्याप्तं भोगिभिः पर्वतोपमैः || २८ ||
nāgāstramādade bhīmaṃ pāśabandhanakhedadam | tenābhavannabho vyāptaṃ bhogibhiḥ parvatopamaiḥ || 28 ||
He took the terrifying serpent weapon that cuts through the bonds of the noose. With that, the sky was filled with serpents resembling mountains.
उसने फंदे की बंधन को काटने वाले भयानक सर्प अस्त्र को लिया। उसके साथ, आकाश पर्वतों के समान सर्पों से भर गया।
सर्पैर्विलसिता भूमिर्मृणालैः सरसी यथा | संपन्ना गिरयः सर्वे कृष्णपन्नगकम्बलाः || २९ ||
sarpairvilasitā bhūmirmṛṇālaiḥ sarasī yathā | saṃpannā girayaḥ sarve kṛṣṇapannagakambalāḥ || 29 ||
The earth shone with serpents like a lake with lotus fibers. All the mountains were covered with black serpent blankets.
पृथ्वी सर्पों से चमक रही थी, जैसे तालाब कमल की डंडियों से। सभी पर्वत काले सर्प कंबलों से ढके हुए थे।
पदार्थाः सर्व एवेमे विषोष्मखिन्नतां ययुः | सपर्वतवनाभोगा ययौ विवशतां मही || ३० ||
padārthāḥ sarva evaime viṣoṣmakhinnatāṃ yayuḥ | saparvatavanābhogā yayau vivaśatāṃ mahī || 30 ||
All these elements suffered from the heat of the poison. The earth, along with its mountains, forests, and serpents, became helpless.
ये सभी तत्व विष की गर्मी से पीड़ित हुए। पर्वतों, वनों और सर्पों के साथ पृथ्वी बेबस हो गई।
पूताङ्गारसमाकीर्णं विषवैषम्यशंसिनः | ववू रूक्षोष्णनीहारवाता ज्वलनरेणवः || ३१ ||
pūtāṅgārasamākīrṇaṃ viṣavaiṣamyśaṃsinaḥ | vavū rūkṣoṣṇanīhāravātā jvalanareṇavaḥ || 31 ||
The winds blew, filled with the smell of burnt embers and the unevenness of the poison. They were dry, hot, and carried the ashes of the burning.
हवाएँ चलीं, जले हुए अंगारों की गंध और विष की असमानता से भरी हुईं। वे सूखी, गर्म और जलती हुई राख लेकर चलीं।
विदूरथोऽथ सौपर्णमाददेऽस्त्रं महास्त्रवित् । उदगुर्गरुडास्त्रेण सौपर्णाः पर्वता इव || ३२ ||
vidūratho'tha saurpaṇamādade'astraṃ mahāstravit | udagurgaruḍāstreṇa saurpaṇāḥ parvatā iva || 32 ||
Then Viduratha, the great master of weapons, took up the Garuda weapon. With the Garuda weapon, the Suparnas rose like mountains.
तब विदूरथ, महान अस्त्रविद्, गरुड अस्त्र उठाया। गरुड अस्त्र से सौपर्ण पर्वतों की तरह उठे।
काञ्चनीकृतसर्वाशाः सर्वाशापरिपूरकाः । पक्षपर्वतसंरम्भजनितप्रलयानिलाः || ३३ ||
kāñcanīkṛtasarvāśāḥ sarvāśāparipūrakāḥ | pakṣaparvatasaṃrambhajanitapralayānilāḥ || 33 ||
Their desires turned into gold, fulfilling all desires, they became the winds of destruction, born from the anger of the winged mountains.
उनकी इच्छाएँ सोने में बदल गईं, सभी इच्छाओं को पूरा करने वाले, वे पंखों वाले पर्वतों के क्रोध से उत्पन्न विनाश की हवा बन गए।
घोणानिलजवाकृष्टश्वसद्भुजगमण्डलाः । महाघुरघुरारावपूरिताम्भोधिखण्डकाः || ३४ ||
ghoṇānilajavākṛṣṭaśvasadbhujagamaṇḍalāḥ | mahāghuraghurārāvapūritāmbhodhikhṇḍakāḥ || 34 ||
Pulled by the wind of the roaring clouds, they were like the circles of serpents, filling the fragments of the ocean with their great roaring sound.
बादलों की गर्जना की हवा से खींचे गए, वे सर्पों के चक्रों की तरह थे, जो अपने महान गर्जना से समुद्र के टुकड़ों को भर रहे थे।
स सुपर्णघनोऽपात्तं सर्पौघं भूप्रपूरकम् । कष्टं शलशलायन्तमगस्त्य इव वारिधिम् || ३५ ||
sa suparṇaghano'pāttaṃ sarpaaughaṃ bhūprapūrakam | kaṣṭaṃ śalaśalāyantamagastya iva vāridhim || 35 ||
That cloud of Suparnas, having received the serpent multitude, filled the earth, moving with difficulty like Agastya swallowing the ocean.
वह सौपर्ण का बादल, सर्पों के समूह को लेकर, पृथ्वी को भर रहा था, जैसे अगस्त्य समुद्र को निगल रहे थे।
सर्पकम्बलनिर्मुक्तं भूमण्डलमराजत । चिरात्तमवनीरन्ध्रमिव निर्वारिराशि च || ३६ ||
sarpakambalanirmuktaṃ bhūmaṇḍalamarājata | cirāttamavanīrandhramiva nirvārirāśi ca || 36 ||
The earth shone, freed from the serpent's coil, like the dry land of the earth's cave, devoid of water.
पृथ्वी चमक उठी, सर्पों के फंदे से मुक्त होकर, जैसे पृथ्वी की गुफा की सूखी भूमि, जिसमें पानी नहीं है।
ततस्तद्गरुडानीकं क्वाप्यगच्छददृश्यताम् | दीपौघ इव वातेन शरदेवाब्दमण्डलम् || ३७ ||
tataḥ tadgaruḍānīkaṃ kvāpyagacchadadṛśyatām | dīpaugha iva vātena śaradevābdamaṇḍalam || 37 ||
Then that army of Garuda disappeared somewhere and became invisible, like a cluster of lamps extinguished by the wind in autumn.
तब वह गरुड की सेना कहीं गायब हो गई और अदृश्य हो गई, जैसे पतझड़ में हवा से बुझ गए दीपों का समूह।
वज्रभीत्येव पक्षौघपर्वतप्रकरः पुरः | स्वप्नदृष्टं जगदिव संकल्पपुरपूरवत् || ३८ ||
vajrabhītyeva pakṣaughaparvataprakaraḥ puraḥ | svapnadṛṣṭaṃ jagadiva saṃkalpapurapūravat || 38 ||
Like a mountain of wings fearing the thunderbolt, it stood in front, like a world seen in a dream, full of imagined cities.
जैसे पंखों का पर्वत वज्र से डर रहा हो, वह सामने खड़ा था, जैसे सपने में देखा गया संसार, कल्पना के शहरों से भरा हुआ।
ततस्तमोऽस्त्रमसृजत्सिन्धुरन्धान्धकारदम् | तेनान्धकारो ववृधे कृष्णो भूजठरोपमः || ३९ ||
tatastamo'stram asṛjatsindhurandhāndhakāradam | tenāndhakāro vavṛdhe kṛṣṇo bhūjaṭharopamaḥ || 39 ||
Then he released the weapon of darkness, which increased the darkness, dense like the belly of the earth.
तब उसने अंधकार का अस्त्र छोड़ा, जिससे अंधकार बढ़ गया, पृथ्वी के पेट की तरह घना।
रोदोरन्ध्रे प्रविसृत एकार्णव इवाभवत् | मत्स्या इवाभवन्सेनास्ताराश्च मणयोऽभवन् || ४० ||
rodorandhre pravisṛta ekārṇava ivābhavat | matsyā ivābhavansenāstārāśca maṇayo'bhavan || 40 ||
Having entered the cave of the sky, it became like a single ocean, the armies became like fish, and the stars became like jewels.
आकाश की गुफा में घुसकर, वह एक समुद्र की तरह हो गया, सेनाएँ मछलियों की तरह हो गईं, और तारे रत्नों की तरह हो गए।
अन्धकारप्रवृत्तेन मषीपङ्कार्णवोपमम् | कज्जलाचलसंभारोद्भूतकल्पानिलैरिव || ४१ ||
andhakārapravṛttena maṣīpaṅkārṇavopamam | kajjalācalasaṃbhārodbhūtakalpānilairiva || 41 ||
With the spread of darkness, it became like an ocean of ink, with winds arising from the mass of black mountains.
अंधकार के फैलने से, वह स्याही के समुद्र की तरह हो गया, काले पहाड़ों के ढेर से उठने वाली हवाओं के साथ।
अन्धकूपे निपतिता इवासन्सकलाः प्रजाः | कल्पान्त इव संशेमुर्व्यवहारा दिशं प्रतिं || ४२ ||
andhakūpe nipatitā ivāsansakalāḥ prajāḥ | kalpānta iva saṃśemurvyavahārā diśaṃ pratiṃ || 42 ||

vidūratho'tha mārtaṇḍaṃ dīpaṃ brahmāṇḍamaṇḍape | astraṃ mantravidāṃ śreṣṭhaḥ sṛṣṭvā mantrō vyacēṣṭayat || 43 ||
Then Viduratha, the best among the knowers of mantras, created a lamp of the sun in the hall of the universe | Having created the weapon, the mantra began to act || 43 ||

ययुः प्रकटतामन्तरखिला वनराजयः | लोभकज्जलजालेन मुक्ता इव सतां धियः || ४६ ||
yayuḥ prakaṭatāmantarakhilā vanarājayaḥ | lobhakajjalajālena muktā iva satāṃ dhiyaḥ || 46 ||
All the forest kings became visible, as if the minds of the virtuous were freed from the net of greed || 46 ||

Fierce forest Rakshasas arose from all directions, roaring like the disturbed oceans with the trumpeting of elephants from the underworld.

The fires blazed with upward-pointing, smoky flames, making loud crackling sounds, as if licking with fierce tongues, like wet fuel.
आग उपर की ओर धुएं से भरी लपटों के साथ जल रही थी, जो गीले ईंधन के समान जोर से चटचटाहट की आवाज कर रही थी, मानो अपनी तीखी जीभों से चाट रही हो।
सावर्तवृत्तयो व्योम्नि भीमचीत्कारटांकृताः| अग्निदाहा महाधूमविलोला इव सोल्मुकाः || ५० ||
sāvartavṛttayo vyomni bhīmacītkāraṭāṃkṛtāḥ| agnidāhā mahādhūmavilolā iva solmukāḥ || 50 ||
In the sky, there were whirling eddies, filled with terrible screams and cries, like blazing fires with great billowing smoke, as if with pestles.
आकाश में घूमती हुई भंवरें थीं, जो भयानक चीत्कारों और चिल्लाहटों से भरी हुई थीं, मानो धुएं के बड़े घूंघट वाली जलती आग मूसलों के समान हों।
दंष्ट्राबिसाङ्कुराक्रान्तमुखपङ्काक्षदेहकाः| उदिता लोमजम्बाला दुष्पल्वलतटा इव || ५१ ||
daṃṣṭrābisāṅkurākrāntamukhapaṅkākṣadehakāḥ| uditā lomajambālā duṣpalvalataṭā iva || 51 ||
They appeared with faces covered in blood and flesh, with hair standing on end, like the terrible banks of a polluted marsh.

udīryamāṇa evāsmi mantrarāje'strarājayaḥ | rākṣasānāṃ praśemustā andhakāra ivotaye || 54 ||
As soon as this king of mantras and weapons was invoked, the demons perished like darkness at dawn.
जैसे ही इस मंत्र और अस्त्र के राजा का आह्वान हुआ, राक्षस अंधकार के समान प्रभात में नष्ट हो गए।

atha sindhurmumocāstramāgneyaṃ jvalitāmbaram | jajvaluḥ kakubhastena kalpāgnijvalitā iva || 56 ||
Then Sindhu released the Agneya weapon, which blazed like the sky on fire. The directions shone as if ablaze with the fire of destruction.
तब सिंधु ने अग्नेय अस्त्र छोड़ा, जिससे आकाश आग की तरह जल उठा। दिशाएँ विनाश की अग्नि से जलती हुई की तरह चमक उठीं।
धूमाम्बुदभराच्छन्ना बभूवुः सकला दिशः | गगने प्रोतपातालतिमिराकुलिता इव || ५७ ||
dhūmāmbudabharācchannā babhūvuḥ sakalā diśaḥ | gagane protapātālatimirākulitā iva || 57 ||
All directions were covered with clouds of smoke, as if the sky was filled with darkness from the underworld.
सभी दिशाएँ धुएँ के बादलों से ढक गईं, मानो आकाश पाताल के अंधेरे से भर गया हो।

babhūvurjvalitākārā girayaḥ kāñcanā iva | praphullavananīrandhracampakaughavanā iva || 58 ||
The mountains appeared as if they were golden and blazing, like forests full of blooming champak trees with open flowers.
पहाड़ सुनहरे और जलते हुए लग रहे थे, मानो खिले हुए चंपा के पेड़ों से भरे जंगल हों।
ययुर्व्योमाद्रिदिक्कुञ्जा ज्वालाजालजटालताम् | कुङ्कुमेनोत्सवे मृत्योः समालब्धा इव स्रजः || ५९ ||
yayurvyomādridikkunjā jvālājālajaṭālatām | kuṅkumenotsave mṛtyoḥ samālabdhā iva srajaḥ || 59 ||
The sky, mountains, and directions became entangled in a network of flames, like garlands adorned with kumkum in the festival of death.
आकाश, पहाड़ और दिशाएँ ज्वालाओं के जाल में उलझ गईं, मानो मृत्यु के उत्सव में कुंकुम से सजी मालाएँ हों।
ज्वलिता जनता चैकशङ्किनी सा नभःस्पृशा | सहस्राकृतिनौवेगचलितेनेव सागरात् || ६० ||
jvalitā janatā caikaśaṅkinī sā nabhaḥspṛśā | sahasrākṛtinauvegacaliteneva sāgarāt || 60 ||
The blazing people, full of doubt, touched the sky, as if the ocean was moving with the speed of a thousand forms.
जलती हुई जनता, संदेह से भरी हुई, आकाश को छू रही थी, मानो समुद्र हजारों रूपों की गति से चल रहा हो।
जित्वा रिपुं पुनरसौ यथा प्रहरते तथा | वारुणं विससर्जास्त्रं पूजयित्वा विदूरथः || ६१ ||
jitvā ripuṃ punarasau yathā praharate tathā | vāruṇaṃ visasarjāstraṃ pūjayitvā vidūrathaḥ || 61 ||
After defeating the enemy, he again attacked as before, and after worshipping, Viduratha released the Varuna weapon.

Like the enjoyers of the caves of the underworld, they desired to see the sky | With their forms expanded by the great roaring sound.

The continuous flow of water quenched the intense fire | The twilight that pervades the world quickly turned dark like the night.
जल की निरंतर धारा ने तीव्र अग्नि को बुझा दिया | संसार को व्याप्त करने वाली संध्या जल्दी ही रात के समान अंधेरी हो गई।
तामग्निसंततिं पीत्वा पूरयामास भूतलम्| जलश्रीर्जटितं देहं निद्रेव व्यक्तिमेयुषी || ६७ ||
tāmagni-santatiṃ pītvā pūrayāmāsa bhūtalam| jalaśrīrjaṭitaṃ dehaṃ nidreva vyaktimēyuṣī || 67 ||
Having drunk the continuous flow of fire, he filled the earth| The body, which was like a mass of water, appeared as if it were awakening from sleep.
अग्नि की निरंतर धारा पीकर, उसने पृथ्वी को भर दिया| जल के समान शरीर, जैसे नींद से जाग रहा हो, प्रकट हुआ।
एवंविधानस्त्रमोहान्विदधुर्धावनेतरे| मिथोमायामयानग्रे पश्यन्त्यनुभवन्ति च || ६८ ||
evaṃvidhānastramohānvidadhurdhāvanetare| mithomāyāmayānagre paśyantyanubhavanti ca || 68 ||
Such delusions of weapons they created, running at each other, mutually experiencing illusory visions ahead, as they beheld them.
इस प्रकार के अस्त्रों के मोह में वे दौड़ते हुए एक-दूसरे की ओर बढ़े और आपसी माया से उत्पन्न भ्रमों को आगे देखकर उनका अनुभव करते रहे।
हेतिभारवराः सिन्धोश्चक्ररक्षास्ततोऽम्भसा| तृणानीव गताः प्रोह्य रथश्चास्याभवत्प्लुतः || ६९ ||
hetibhāravarāḥ sindhoścakrarakṣāstato'mbhasā| tṛṇānīva gatāḥ prohya rathaścāsyābhavatplutaḥ || 69 ||
The great warriors with heavy weapons, the protectors of the chariot wheel, were washed away by the water| Like straws, they were carried away, and the chariot also became submerged.
भारी अस्त्रों वाले महान योद्धा, रथ के चक्र के रक्षक, पानी से बहा दिए गए| तिनकों की तरह, वे बहा दिए गए, और रथ भी डूब गया।
एतस्मिन्नन्तरे सिन्धुरस्त्रं सस्मार शोषणम्| आपत्त्राणकरं दैवं ददौ च शररूपिणम् || ७० ||
etasminnantare sindhurastram sasmāra śoṣaṇam| āpattrāṇakaraṃ daivaṃ dadau ca śararūpiṇam || 70 ||

The watery illusion was destroyed by that radiant weapon| Those who were dead, remained dead, dried up on the earth.

tena dharmamayīṃ mūrcchāmājagmustadvirodhinḥ | grīṣmadāvānalottaptā mṛdavaḥ pallavā iva || 74 ||
Due to that, those who opposed it attained a state of righteous unconsciousness, like tender leaves scorched by the summer forest fire.

उदभूत्प्रथमं बाष्प उष्णोऽनलनिभो भुवः पातालादभ्रवृन्दानां युद्धायेवात्तविभ्रमः || ८२ ||
udabhūtprathamaṃ bāṣpa uṣṇo'nalanibho bhuvaḥ pātālādabhravṛndānāṃ yuddhāyevāttavibhramaḥ || 82 ||

tato nimeṣamātreṇa praśemurmṛgatṛṣṇikāḥ parabodharasāpūrairyathā saṃsāravāsanāḥ || 83 ||

तब, एक पल में, मृगतृष्णाएँ गायब हो गईं, जैसे संसार की वासनाएँ उच्च सत्यों के बोध से विलुप्त हो जाती हैं।
आसीत्पङ्काङ्कमखिलं भूमण्डलमसंचरम् पूरितः पूर्णधाराभिः सिन्धुः सिन्धुरिवाम्बुना || ८४ ||
āsītpankāṅkamakhilaṃ bhūmaṇḍalamasañcaram pūritaḥ pūrṇadhārābhiḥ sindhuḥ sindhurivāmbunā || 84 ||
