śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca etasminvartamāne tu ghore samarasaṅgame līlādvayamuvācedaṃ jñaptiṃ bhagavatīṃ punaḥ || 1 ||
Shri Vasishtha said: In this fierce battle, Lila spoke these words to the goddess Jnapti again.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: इस भयंकर युद्ध में, लीला ने फिर से भगवती ज्ञप्ति से ये शब्द कहे।
लीलाद्वयमुवाच देवि कस्मादकस्मान्नौ भर्ता जयति नौ रणे वद त्वय्यपि तुष्टायामस्मिन्विद्रुतवारणे || २ ||
līlādvayamuvāca devi kasmādakasmānnau bhartā jayati nau raṇe vada tvayyapi tuṣṭāyāmasminvidrutavāraṇe || 2 ||
Lila said: O Goddess, why does our husband sometimes win and sometimes lose in battle? Tell me, even though you are pleased with this swift elephant.
लीला ने कहा: हे देवी, हमारे पति कभी युद्ध में जीतते हैं और कभी हारते हैं, क्यों? मुझे बताओ, भले ही तुम इस तेज हाथी से प्रसन्न हो।
श्रीसरस्वत्युवाच चिरमाराधितानेन विदूरथनृपारिणा अहं पुत्रि जयार्थेन न विदूरथभूभृता || ३ ||
śrīsarasvatyuvāca ciramārādhitānena vidūrathanaṛpāriṇā ahaṃ putri jayārthe na vidūrathabhūbhṛtā || 3 ||
Goddess Saraswati said: O daughter, I have been worshipped for a long time by King Viduratha for the sake of victory. I am not the ruler of Viduratha.
देवी सरस्वती ने कहा: हे पुत्री, राजा विदूरथ ने विजय के लिए मुझे लंबे समय से पूजा की है। मैं विदूरथ की रानी नहीं हूँ।
तेनासावेव जयति जीयते च विदूरथः ज्ञप्तिरन्तर्गता संविदेतां मां यो यदा यथा || ४ ||
tenāsāveva jayati jīyate ca vidūrathaḥ jñaptirantargatā saṃvida etāṃ māṃ yo yadā yathā || 4 ||
Therefore, Viduratha wins and is also defeated. The inner knowledge, Jnapti, directs me accordingly when someone invokes me in a certain way.
इसलिए, विदूरथ जीतता है और हारता भी है। अंतर्गत ज्ञान, ज्ञप्ति, मुझे उसी तरह निर्देशित करता है जब कोई मुझे किसी तरह से पुकारता है।
प्रेरयत्याशु तत्तस्य तदा संपादयाम्यहम् यो यथा प्रेरयति मां तस्य तिष्ठामि तत्फला || ५ ||
prerayatyāśu tattasya tadā saṃpādayāmyaham yo yathā prerayati māṃ tasya tiṣṭhāmi tatphalā || 5 ||
Whoever invokes me in a certain way, I quickly direct that to them at that time. I stand by the result of whoever invokes me in that manner.
जो भी मुझे किसी तरह से पुकारता है, मैं उसे उस समय तुरंत उस तरह निर्देशित करती हूँ। मैं उसके परिणाम के साथ खड़ी रहती हूँ जो मुझे उस तरह से पुकारता है।
न स्वभावोऽन्यतां धत्ते वह्नेरौष्ण्यमिवैष मे | अनेन मुक्त एव स्यामहमित्यस्मि भाविता || ६ ||
na svabhāvo'nyatāṃ dhatte vahnerauṣṇyamiva eṣa me | anena mukta eva syāmahamityasmi bhāvitā || 6 ||
Nature does not change its inherent qualities, just as fire does not lose its heat. By this, I am liberated, and I am convinced that I will be free.
स्वभाव अपनी प्रकृति नहीं बदलता, जैसे अग्नि अपने ताप को नहीं छोड़ती। इससे मैं मुक्त हूँ, और मैं विश्वास करता हूँ कि मैं मुक्त हो जाऊँगा।
प्रतिभारूपिणी तेन बाले मुक्तो भविष्यति | एतदीयः स्वयं शत्रुः सिन्धुर्नाम महीपतिः || ७ ||
pratibhārūpiṇī tena bāle mukto bhaviṣyati | etadīyaḥ svayaṃ śatruḥ sindhurnāma mahīpatiḥ || 7 ||
By this intelligence, the child will be liberated. This very enemy, named Sindhu, the king, will be defeated.
इस बुद्धि से, बच्चा मुक्त होगा। यही शत्रु, जिसका नाम सिंधु है, राजा, पराजित होगा।
जयाम्यहं स्यां संग्राम इत्यनेनास्मि पूजिता | तस्माद्विदूरथो देहं तत्प्राप्य सह भार्यया || ८ ||
jayāmyahaṃ syāṃ saṃgrāma ityanenāsmi pūjitā | tasmādvidūratho dehaṃ tatprāpya saha bhāryayā || 8 ||
I will be victorious in battle, by this I am worshipped. Therefore, having obtained that body, I will be distant with my wife.
मैं युद्ध में विजयी होऊँगा, इससे मैं पूजा जाऊँगा। इसलिए, उस शरीर को प्राप्त करके, मैं अपनी पत्नी के साथ दूर होऊँगा।
त्वयानया च कालेन बाले मुक्तो भविष्यति | एतदीयः स्वयं शत्रुः सिन्धुर्नाम महीपतिः || ९ ||
tvayānayā ca kālena bāle mukto bhaviṣyati | etadīyaḥ svayaṃ śatruḥ sindhurnāma mahīpatiḥ || 9 ||
By you, by this time, the child will be liberated. This very enemy, named Sindhu, the king, will be defeated.
आपके द्वारा, इस समय के साथ, बच्चा मुक्त होगा। यही शत्रु, जिसका नाम सिंधु है, राजा, पराजित होगा।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | हत्वैनं वसुधापीठे जयी राज्यं करिष्यति | एवं देव्यां वदन्त्या तु बलयोर्युध्यमानयोः || १० ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | hatvainaṃ vasudhāpīṭhe jayī rājyaṃ kariṣyati | evaṃ devyāṃ vadantyā tu balayoryudhyamānayoḥ || 10 ||
Vasishtha said: Having killed him, the victor will establish the kingdom on the earth. Thus spoke the goddess while the two armies were fighting.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: उसे मारकर, विजेता पृथ्वी पर राज्य स्थापित करेगा। इस प्रकार देवी ने कहा जब दोनों सेनाएँ लड़ रही थीं।
रविर्द्रष्टुमिवाश्चर्यमाजगामोदयाचलम् | चेलुस्तिमिरसंघाता बलानीवारिरूपिणः || ११ ||
ravirdraṣṭumivāścaryamājagāmodayācalam | celustimirasaṃghātā balānīvārirūpiṇaḥ || 11 ||
The sun, as if to see the wonder, came to the eastern mountain. The darkness dissipated like water-formed clouds.
सूर्य ने चमत्कार देखने के लिए, पूर्वी पर्वत पर आकर प्रकाशित किया। अंधेरा पानी के बादलों की तरह छंट गया।
असृजन्जीवसङ्घान्ये संध्यायां तारका इव | शनैः प्रकटतां जग्मुर्नीलाकाशाद्रिभूमयः || १२ ||
asṛjanjīvasaṅghānye saṃdhyāyāṃ tārakā iva | śanaiḥ prakaṭatāṃ jagmurnīlākāśādribhūmayaḥ || 12 ||
In the twilight, the stars, as if creating living beings, gradually became visible, resembling the blue sky, mountains, and earth.
संध्या के समय, तारे, मानो जीवों को उत्पन्न करते हुए, धीरे-धीरे दिखाई देने लगे, जो नीले आकाश, पर्वतों और पृथ्वी के समान थे।
भुवनं कज्जलाम्भोधेरिवोत्क्षिप्तमराजत | पेतुः कनकनिःस्यन्दसुन्दरा रविरश्मयः || १३ ||
bhuvanaṃ kajjalāmbhodherivotkṣiptamarājata | petuḥ kanakaniḥsyandasundarā raviraśmayaḥ || 13 ||
The world shone as if lifted from a sea of kohl. Beautiful golden rays of the sun fell.
दुनिया मानो काजल के समुद्र से उठाई गई हो। सुंदर सुनहरी सूर्य की किरणें गिरीं।
शैलेषु वरवीरेषु रणे रक्तच्छटा इव | अदृश्यत ततो व्योम तथा रणमहीतलम् || १४ ||
śaileṣu varavīreṣu raṇe raktacchāṭā iva | adṛśyata tato vyoma tathā raṇamahītalam || 14 ||
In the battle, the mountains appeared like red canopies. Then the sky and the battlefield were seen in the same way.
युद्ध में, पर्वत लाल छतरियों की तरह दिखाई दिए। फिर आकाश और युद्धभूमि उसी तरह दिखाई दी।
बाहुभिर्भ्रान्तभुजगं प्रभाभिः कीर्णकाञ्चनम् | कुण्डलैः कीर्णरत्नौघं शिरोभिर्दृष्टपङ्कजम् || १५ ||
bāhubhirbhrāntabhujagaṃ prabhābhiḥ kīrṇakāñcanam | kuṇḍalaiḥ kīrṇaratnaughaṃ śirobhirdṛṣṭapaṅkajam || 15 ||
With arms like wandering serpents, adorned with golden ornaments, with earrings filled with gems, and with heads adorned with lotuses.
भुजाओं के साथ भटकते सर्पों की तरह, स्वर्ण आभूषणों से सज्जित, रत्नों से भरे कुण्डलों के साथ, और कमलों से सज्जित सिरों के साथ।
आयुधैः खड्गनीरन्ध्रं शरैः शलभनिर्भरम् | रक्ताभास्थिरसंध्याढ्यं ससिद्धपुरुषं शवैः || १६ ||
āyudhaiḥ khaḍganīrandhraṃ śaraiḥ śalabhanirbharam | raktābhāsthirasandhyāḍhyaṃ sasiddhapuruṣaṃ śavaiḥ || 16 ||
With weapons, the sword-wounds, with arrows the locust-like swarm, with blood-red bones, with the accomplished men and corpses.
हथियारों से तलवार के घाव, तीरों से टिड्डे की तरह झुंड, खून से लाल हड्डियों के साथ, सिद्ध पुरुषों और शवों के साथ।
हारैः ससर्पनिर्मोकं कटैरिद्धं सुसंकुलम् | लसल्लतं पताकाभिरुरुभिः कृततोरणम् || १७ ||
hāraiḥ sasarpanirmokaṃ kaṭairiddhaṃ susaṅkulam | lasallataṃ patākābhirurubhiḥ kṛtatoraṇam || 17 ||
With garlands, with snake-like ornaments, with armors, very crowded, with creeping vines, with flags, with large ones, made into a gateway.
मालाओं से, साँप की तरह आभूषणों से, कवचों से, बहुत भीड़ से, लताओं से, झंडियों से, बड़े से, एक द्वार बनाया गया।
हस्तैः पादैः पल्लवितं शरैः शरवणोपमम् | शस्त्रांशुशाद्वलश्यामं शस्त्रपूरैः सकैतकम् || १८ ||
hastaiḥ pādaiḥ pallavitaṃ śaraiḥ śaravaṇopamam | śastrāṃśuśādvalaśyāmaṃ śastrapūraiḥ sakaitakam || 18 ||
With hands and feet, spread out, with arrows, resembling a quiver, with weapon-rays, dark, with weapon-filled, with peacocks.
हाथों और पैरों से, फैला हुआ, तीरों से, तरकश की तरह, हथियारों की किरणों से, काला, हथियारों से भरा हुआ, मोरों के साथ।
कीर्णमायुधमालाभिरुन्मत्तमिव भैरवम् | फुल्लाशोकवनाकारं शस्त्रसंघट्टवह्निभिः || १९ ||
kīrṇamāyudhamālābhirunmattamiva bhairavam | phullāśokavanākāraṃ śastrasaṃghaṭṭavahnabhiḥ || 19 ||
Covered with garlands of weapons, as if mad, terrible, resembling a blooming Ashoka forest, with the fire of weapon-clashes.
हथियारों की मालाओं से ढका हुआ, पागल की तरह, भयानक, खिले हुए अशोक वन की तरह, हथियारों की टक्कर की आग के साथ।
उदघुंघुमहाशब्दैर्विद्रवत्सिद्धनायकैः | सौवर्णनगराकारं बालार्ककचितायुधैः || २० ||
udaghuṃghumahāśabdaiḥ vidravatsiddhanāyakaiḥ | sauvarṇanagarākāraṃ bālārkakacitāyudhaiḥ || 20 ||
With loud rumbling sounds, with fleeing accomplished leaders, resembling a golden city, with weapons adorned with the young sun.
ऊँची गड़गड़ाहट की आवाजों से, भागते हुए सिद्ध नायकों के साथ, सोने के शहर की तरह, नवयुवक सूर्य से सजे हथियारों के साथ।
प्रासासिशक्तिचक्रर्ष्टिमुद्गरारणिताम्बरम् | वहद्रक्तनदीरंहः प्रोह्यमानशवोत्करम् || २१ ||
prāsāsīśakticakrarṣṭimudgarāraṇitāmbaram | vahadraktanadīraṃhaḥ prohyamānaśavotkaram || 21 ||
Bearing a spear, sword, power, wheel, spear, hammer, fire-maker, and garment, carrying a river of blood, and a cart filled with corpses being driven.
भाला, तलवार, शक्ति, चक्र, भाला, हथौड़ा, अग्नि-उत्पादक, और वस्त्र धारण करते हुए, एक रक्त नदी को ले जाते हुए, और एक शवों से भरी गाड़ी को चलाते हुए।
भुशुण्डीशक्तिकुन्तासिशूलपाषाणसंकुलम् | शूलशस्त्राहतिच्छन्नकबन्धपतनान्वितम् || २२ ||
bhuśuṇḍīśaktikuntāsīśūlapāṣāṇasaṃkulam | śūlaśastrāhaticchannakabandhapatanānvitam || 22 ||
Filled with clubs, powers, spears, tridents, stones, and covered with wounds from trident weapons, accompanied by the fall of skulls.
गदा, शक्ति, भाला, त्रिशूल, पत्थरों से भरा हुआ, और त्रिशूल हथियारों से घायल होने के कारण ढंका हुआ, खोपड़ियों के गिरने के साथ।

The sound of the dance of death and the roar of the ghosts, in the empty battlefield, the shining lotus and the moving chariots.
मृत्यु के नृत्य और भूतों की गर्जना की आवाज, खाली युद्धक्षेत्र में, चमकता कमल और चलती रथ।
अदृश्येतां नभश्चिह्नौ चन्द्रसूर्यौ दिवीव तौ | चक्रशूलभुशुण्ड्यृष्टिप्रासायुधसमाकुला || २४ ||
adṛśyetāṃ nabhaścihnnau candrasūryau divīva tau | cakraśūlabhuśuṇḍyṛṣṭiprāsāyudhasamākulā || 24 ||
They became invisible like the moon and the sun in the sky with their marks, surrounded by weapons like the discus, trident, club, spear, and sword.
वे चंद्रमा और सूर्य की तरह आकाश में अदृश्य हो गए, चक्र, त्रिशूल, गदा, भाला, और तलवार जैसे हथियारों से घिरे हुए।
सहस्रेण सहस्रेण वीराणां परिवारितौ | विचरन्तौ यथाकामं मण्डलैर्विततारवैः || २५ ||
sahasreṇa sahasreṇa vīrāṇāṃ parivāritau | vicarantau yathākāmaṃ maṇḍalairvitatāravaiḥ || 25 ||
Surrounded by thousands of heroes, they wander as they please, with expanded circles of sound.
हजारों वीरों से घिरे हुए, वे अपनी इच्छा से घूमते हैं, ध्वनि के विस्तृत चक्रों के साथ।
सचीत्कारमहाचक्रपिष्टानेकमृतामृतौ | तरन्तौ रक्तसरितौ मत्तवारणलीलया || २६ ||
sacītkāramahācakrapiṣṭānekamṛtāmṛtau | tarantau raktasaritau mattavāraṇalīlayā || 26 ||
With loud cries and great wheels, they crossed the rivers of blood with the playfulness of intoxicated elephants.
जोर से चीत्कार करते हुए और महान चक्रों के साथ, वे नशे में धुत हाथियों की लीला से रक्त की नदियों को पार कर गए।
केशशैवलसंपन्ने चक्रचक्रजलेन्दुके | वहच्चक्राहतिक्षोभपातिताकुलवारणौ || २७ ||
keśaśaivalasaṃpanne cakracakrajalenduke | vahaccakrāhatikṣobhapātitākulavāraṇau || 27 ||
In the midst of the battle, with hair standing on end, the wheels and the moon-like discs were shaken by the impact of the wheels, causing the elephants to fall in confusion.
युद्ध के बीच में, बालों के खड़े होने के साथ, चक्रों और चंद्रमा जैसे डिस्कों को चक्रों के प्रभाव से हिलाया गया, जिससे हाथियों को भ्रम में गिरना पड़ा।

With the sound of gems and pearls, and the sound of the bells, the sound of the flags fluttering in the wind was heard.

Followed by great warriors and fearless soldiers, with streams of arrows and spears flowing from their bows.
महान योद्धाओं और निडर सैनिकों द्वारा अनुगमन किया जाता है, जिनके धनुषों से तीरों और भालों की धाराएँ बह रही हैं।
शक्तीनां प्रासशङ्कूनां चक्राणां कचतां रणे | तत्र तौ क्षणमावृत्ये मण्डले भूमिकुण्डले || ३० ||
śaktīnāṃ prāsaśaṅkūnāṃ cakrāṇāṃ kacatāṃ raṇe | tatra tau kṣaṇamāvṛtye maṇḍale bhūmikuṇḍale || 30 ||
In the battle, with spears, swords, and discs, they were enveloped in a moment in the circular formation on the ground.
युद्ध में, भालों, तलवारों और चक्रों के साथ, वे एक क्षण में जमीन पर वृत्ताकार गठबंधन में घिर गए।

Both of them, facing each other with weapons in hand, roared like thunder, with the sound of their hands throwing arrows.
दोनों एक-दूसरे के सामने हथियारों के साथ खड़े हुए, और अपने हाथों से तीर फेंकते हुए गर्जना करने लगे, जैसे बिजली की गड़गड़ाहट।
अन्योन्यमपि गर्जन्तौ मत्ताब्धिजलदाविव | तयोः प्रहरतोर्बाणा वसुधानरसिंहयोः || ३२ ||
anyonyamapi garjantau mattābdhijaladāviva | tayoḥ praharatorbāṇā vasudhānarasiṃhayoḥ || 32 ||
Both of them roared at each other like thunderclouds in the ocean. The arrows of those two lions among men clashed in the sky.
दोनों एक-दूसरे पर गर्जना करते हुए, समुद्र में बिजली की गड़गड़ाहट की तरह थे। उन दो नरसिंहों के तीर आकाश में टकरा रहे थे।
पाषाणमुसलाकारा व्योमविस्तारिणोऽभवन् | करवालमुखाः केचिन्मुद्गराननकाः परे || ३३ ||
pāṣāṇamusalākārā vyomavistāriṇo'bhavan | karavālamukhāḥ kecinmudgarānanakāḥ pare || 33 ||
Some arrows took the form of stone pestles, spreading across the sky. Others had the shape of swords, and some had the shape of hammers.
कुछ तीर पत्थर के मूसल के रूप में आकाश में फैल गए। कुछ तलवार के आकार के थे, और कुछ हथौड़े के आकार के थे।
शितचक्रमुखाः केचित्केचित्परशुवक्त्रकाः | केचिच्छक्तिमुखाः केचित्केचिच्छूलशिलामुखाः || ३४ ||
śitacakramukhāḥ kecitkecitparaśuvaktrakāḥ | keciśśaktimukhāḥ kecitkeciśśūlaśilāmukhāḥ || 34 ||
Some arrows had the shape of sharp discs, others had the shape of axes. Some had the shape of spears, and others had the shape of stone spikes.
कुछ तीर तीखे चक्र के आकार के थे, कुछ कुल्हाड़ी के आकार के थे। कुछ भाले के आकार के थे, और कुछ पत्थर के कील के आकार के थे।
प्रलयपवनपातिताः शिलौघा इव निपतन्ति शिलीमुखास्तदा स्म | प्रमिलितमभवत्तयोस्तदानीं प्रलयविजृम्भितसिन्धुसंभ्रमेण || ३५ ||
pralayapavanapātitāḥ śilaughā iva nipatanti śilīmukhāstadā sma | pramilitamabhavattayostadānīṃ pralayavijṛmbhitasindhusaṃbhraameṇa || 35 ||
At that time, the arrows with stone tips fell like rocks thrown by the wind of destruction. The two warriors were entangled in a battle as tumultuous as the churning of the ocean during the deluge.
उस समय, पत्थर के नोक वाले तीर विनाश की हवा से उछाले गए पत्थरों की तरह गिर रहे थे। दोनों योद्धा प्रलय के समुद्र मंथन के समान भयंकर युद्ध में उलझे हुए थे।
