श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच । अथ वीर इवारक्तः कालेनास्तमितो रविः । अस्त्रतेजःपरिम्लानप्रतापोऽब्धौ समुज्झितः || १ ||

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | atha vīra ivāraktaḥ kālenāstamito raviḥ | astratejaḥparimlānapratāpo'bdhau samujjhitaḥ || 1 ||

English

Shri Vasistha said: Then, as if a warrior stained with blood, the sun was swallowed by time. His splendor, dulled by the power of weapons, was abandoned in the ocean.

श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: फिर, जैसे एक रक्तरंजित वीर, सूर्य समय द्वारा निगल लिया गया। उसकी कान्ति, अस्त्रों की शक्ति से मन्द होकर, समुद्र में छोड़ दी गई।

English

भूपातालनभोदिग्भ्यः प्रलयब्धिजलौघवत् । समाजग्मुस्तनत्ताला वेताला वलया इव || ३ ||

English

From the earth, the underworld, the sky, and all directions, like the waves of the ocean of dissolution, the demons gathered, as if in a circle.

English

In the polished darkness adorned with the sword, on the crest of the lord of the day, the twilight was adorned with red hues, like a pearl necklace of stars.

चमकीले अंधकार में तलवार से सजाया गया, दिन के स्वामी के मस्तक पर, संध्या लाल रंग से सजी हुई थी, जैसे तारों का मोती का हार।

निःसत्त्वेषु तमोन्धेषु रसनारसशालिषु । संकोचमाययुः पद्मामृतानां हृदयेष्विव || ५ ||

niḥsattveṣu tamondheṣu rasanārasaśāliṣu | saṃkocamāyayuḥ padmāmṛtānāṃ hṛdayeṣvi va || 5 ||

English

In the lifeless, darkness-covered, and tasteless ones, they contracted like the hearts of lotuses deprived of nectar.

जीवनरहित, अंधकार से ढके, और स्वादहीन लोगों में, वे अमृत से वंचित कमलों के हृदय की तरह सिकुड़ गए।

English

The birds, with their wings closed and heads raised with difficulty, sleep in their nests as if they were arrows in quivers.

पक्षी, अपने पंख बंद करके और गर्दन कठिनाई से उठाकर, अपने घोंसलों में सोते हैं, जैसे वे तीरों के डिब्बे में तीर हों।

English

The worlds, beautiful with the approaching moon, become joyful like the glory of heroes in the ranks of flowers.

चंद्रमा के आने से सुंदर हो जाने वाले लोक, फूलों की पंक्तियों में वीरों की शोभा की तरह आनंदित हो जाते हैं।

रक्तवारिमयी सायमङ्गगुप्तशिलीमुखासङ्कुचद्वक्त्रपद्माभूद्रणभूमिरिवाब्जिनी || ८ ||

English

The earth, with its lotus-like face closed, appeared like a lotus at the end of the day, red with water, with its petals closed.

English

Above was the sky adorned with stars like lotuses, and below was the water shining with lotus stars.

English

The beings, frightened by the approaching darkness, gathered together as if to seek refuge, spreading in all directions.

आने वाले अंधेरे से डरे हुए प्राणी, शरण खोजने के लिए एक साथ इकट्ठे हो गए, सभी दिशाओं में फैल गए।

English

There was a battlefield filled with the sounds of ghosts and the clanging of skeletons, where ghosts were singing and dancing.

English

All the limbs and bones were clearly visible, and the pyre was piled high with consciousness. The ghosts began their playful antics, hidden from view.

The coming and going of the ghosts, crows, and demons created a tumultuous noise, resembling the roaring of the ocean.

English

The fierce dance of the warriors, with their bellies swollen like pots, their mouths uttering meaningless words, and their bodies drenched in sweat and tears.

English

The corpses lying with their bellies swollen, the sleeping ghosts and demons, and the solitary demon playing with a skull.

English

The intoxicated ghosts quarreling, their eyes blazing with fury, and the wind carrying the scent of blood and sweat.

English

The half-cooked corpse-eating demon is delighted by the beautiful woman, and the sound of the drums and the clashing of weapons resonates.

The high-pitched sound of the drums and the clashing of weapons is like the fall of stars, and the face of the beautiful woman is radiant like a flame.

The falling ghosts are delighted in the middle of the blood-soaked battlefield, and the leader of the group of female ascetics is listening to the demons.

English

The great instrument is fully equipped with the spread-out musical notes, and the demon-possessed human is beyond the demon's dwelling.

English

The beautiful woman looks with fear at the half-dead warrior, and sometimes the ghosts and demons are fully filled with intoxication.

English

The night-roaming demon, with his own form, shoulder-blade, wing, and skin, terrified, clung to the previously non-existent box-like narrow place.

English

With great effort, the dying man, desiring his own food, is scattered among the parties expecting to eat him, like a corpse.

The sky, the earth, the caves, the interiors, the lump-like ornaments, the dark cloud-like seat, the full serpent-like movement, the wind-like disturbance, the world-like fragmented box.
