śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | atha vīravarotkaṇṭhanṛtyadapsarasi sthitā | līlāvalokayāmāsa vyomni vidyānvitāvanau || 1 ||
Shri Vasishtha said: Then, standing in the sky with the knowledge of the dance of the celestial nymphs, eagerly looking at the playful scene.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: फिर, आकाश में खड़े होकर, अप्सराओं के नृत्य की जानकारी के साथ, खेल के दृश्य को उत्सुकता से देखा।
स्वराष्ट्रमण्डले भर्तृपालिते बलमालिते | कस्मिंश्चिद्विततारण्ये द्वितीयाकाशभीषणे || २ ||
svarāṣṭramanḍale bhartṛpālite balamālite | kasmiṃścidvitatāraṇye dvitīyākāśabhīṣaṇe || 2 ||
In his own kingdom, protected by the ruler and adorned with strength, in a certain vast forest, fearful like a second sky.
अपने राज्य में, शासक द्वारा सुरक्षित और शक्ति से सुशोभित, एक विशाल वन में, जो दूसरे आकाश की तरह भयानक है।
सेनाद्वितयमाक्षुब्धं सौम्याब्धिद्वितयोपमम् | महारम्भघनं मत्तं स्थितं राजद्वयान्वितम् || ३ ||
senādvitayamākṣubdhaṃ saumyābdhidvitayopamam | mahārambhaghanaṃ mattaṃ sthitaṃ rājadvayānvitam || 3 ||
Two agitated armies, resembling two calm oceans, dense with great conflict, intoxicated, standing, accompanied by two kings.
दो उत्तेजित सेनाएँ, दो शांत समुद्रों के समान, महान संघर्ष से घनीभूत, मतवाली, खड़ी हुई, दो राजाओं के साथ।
युद्धसज्जं सुसंनद्धमिद्धमग्निमिवाद्भुतम् | पूर्वप्रहारसंपातप्रेक्षाक्षुब्धाक्षिलक्षितम् || ४ ||
yuddhasajjaṃ susaṃnaddhamidhdhamagnimivādbhutam | pūrvaprahārasaṃpātaprekṣākṣubdhākṣilakṣitam || 4 ||
Prepared for battle, well-armed, blazing like a wonderful fire, marked by the eyes agitated by the sight of the initial clash.
युद्ध के लिए तैयार, अच्छी तरह से सशस्त्र, एक अद्भुत अग्नि की तरह जलता हुआ, पहले टक्कर के दृश्य से उत्तेजित आँखों से चिह्नित।
उद्यतामलनिस्त्रिंशधारासारवहज्जनम् | कचत्परश्वधप्रासभिन्दिपालर्ष्टिमुद्गरम् || ५ ||
udyatāmalanistriṃśadhārāsāravahajjanam | kacatparaśvadhaprāsabhindipālarṣṭimudgaram || 5 ||
Armed with spotless, sharp-edged swords, carrying arrows, axes, spears, maces, and clubs.
निर्मल, धारदार तलवारों से लैस, तीर, कुल्हाड़ियाँ, भाले, गदाएँ, और लाठियाँ लेकर।
गरुत्मत्पक्षविक्षुब्धवनसंपातकम्पितम् | उद्यद्दिनकरालोकचञ्चत्कनककङ्कटम् || ६ ||
garutmatpakṣavikṣubdhavanasampātakampitam | udyaddinakarālokacañcatkanakakaṅkaṭam || 6 ||
The forest is shaken by the wings of Garuda, and the golden banner is trembling in the rising sun's light.
गरुड़ के पंखों से वन कांप रहा है, और उदय हो रहे सूर्य की रोशनी में सोने का झंडा कांप रहा है।
परस्परमुखालोककोपप्रोद्दामितायुधम् | अन्योन्यबद्धदृष्टित्वाच्चित्रं भित्ताविवार्पितम् || ७ ||
parasparamukhālokakopaproddāmitāyudham | anyonyabaddhadṛṣṭitvāccitraṃ bhittāvivārpitam || 7 ||
The warriors, with their weapons raised in anger, gaze at each other's faces. Their interlocked gazes create a strange and captivating scene, as if painted on a wall.
योद्धा क्रोध से हथियार उठाकर एक-दूसरे के मुख की ओर देख रहे हैं। उनकी आपस में जुड़ी दृष्टियाँ एक विचित्र और आकर्षक दृश्य बनाती हैं, मानो किसी दीवार पर चित्रित हो।
लेखामर्यादया दीर्घबद्धया स्थापितस्थिति | अनिवार्यमहासैन्यझांकाराश्रुतसंकथम् || ८ ||
lekhāmaryādayā dīrghabaddhayā sthāpitasthiti | anivāryamahāsainyaẕāṅkārāśrutasaṅkatham || 8 ||
The army is arranged in a long, unbroken line, as if drawn with a ruler. The sound of their marching and the clanking of their armor is overwhelming and cannot be ignored.
सेना एक लंबी, अटूट रेखा में व्यवस्थित है, मानो सीधी रेखा से खींची गई हो। उनके कदमों की आवाज और कवचों की खड़खड़ाहट अत्यधिक है और उसे अनदेखा नहीं किया जा सकता।
पूर्वप्रहारस्मयतश्चिरं संशान्तदुन्दुभि | निबद्धयोधसंस्थाननिखिलानीकमन्थरम् || ९ ||
pūrvaprahārasmayataściraṃ saṃśāntadundubhi | nibaddhayodhasaṃsthānanikhilānīkamantharam || 9 ||
The initial clash has subsided, and the drums have fallen silent for a long time. The warriors are positioned in a compact and orderly formation, filling the entire battlefield.
पहला टक्कर शांत हो गया है, और ड्रम लंबे समय से चुप हैं। योद्धा एक संगठित और कंपैक्ट व्यूह में खड़े हैं, जो पूरे युद्धक्षेत्र को भरता है।
धनुर्द्वितथमात्रात्मशून्यमध्यैकसेतुना | विभक्तं कल्पवातेन मत्तमेकार्णवं यथा || १० ||
dhanurdvitathamātrātmaśūnyamadhyaiakasetunā | vibhaktaṃ kalpavātena mattamekārṇavaṃ yathā || 10 ||
The bow is divided into two parts, empty in the middle, with a single bridge. It is as if the wind of destiny has separated it, making it appear like a single, intoxicated ocean.
धनुष दो हिस्सों में बंटा हुआ है, बीच में खाली, एक पुल के साथ। यह मानो भाग्य की हवा ने इसे अलग कर दिया हो, जिससे यह एक मतवाले समुद्र की तरह दिखाई देता है।
काये संकटसंरम्भचिन्तापरवशेश्वरम् | विरटद्भेककण्ठत्वग्भङ्गुरातुरहृद्गुहम् || ११ ||
kāye saṃkaṭasaṃrambhacintāparaveśvaraṃ | viraṭadbhekakaṇṭhatvagbhagurāturahṛdguhaṃ || 11 ||
The lord is overwhelmed with thoughts of the crisis and the conflict | The lord of the universe, with a trembling voice and a distressed heart, is in a state of turmoil.
प्रभु संकट और संघर्ष के विचारों से व्याकुल हैं | विश्व के स्वामी, काँपती आवाज और व्याकुल हृदय के साथ, उथल-पुथल की स्थिति में हैं।
प्राणसर्वस्वसंत्यागसोद्योगासंख्यसैनिकम् | कर्णाकृष्टशरौघौघत्यागोन्मुखधनुर्धरम् || १२ ||
prāṇasarvasvasaṃtyāgasodyogāsaṃkhyasainikaṃ | karṇākṛṣṭaśaraughaughatyāgonmukhadhanurdharaṃ || 12 ||
The warriors are ready to sacrifice their lives and all their possessions | With arrows drawn and bows ready, they are prepared for battle.
योद्धा अपने प्राण और सम्पूर्ण सम्पत्ति का बलिदान देने के लिए तैयार हैं | तीर खींचे हुए और धनुष तैयार किए हुए, वे युद्ध के लिए तैयार हैं।
प्रहारपातसंप्रेक्षानिष्पन्दासंख्यसैनिकम् | अन्योन्योत्कण्ठकाठिन्यभरभ्रुकुटिसंकटम् || १३ ||
prahārapātasaṃprekṣāniṣpandāsaṃkhyasainikaṃ | anyonyotkaṇṭhakāṭhinayabharabhrukuṭisaṃkaṭaṃ || 13 ||
The warriors are watching the fall of blows with motionless attention | With mutual eagerness and sternness, they are in a state of intense anticipation.
योद्धा प्रहारों के गिरने को निश्चल ध्यान से देख रहे हैं | परस्पर उत्सुकता और कठोरता के साथ, वे तीव्र अपेक्षा की स्थिति में हैं।
परस्परसुसंघट्टकटुटङ्कारकङ्कटम् | वीरयोधमुखादग्धभीरुप्रेप्सितकोटरम् || १४ ||
parasparasusaṃghaṭṭakaṭuṭaṅkārakaṅkaṭaṃ | vīrayodhamukhādagdhabhīruprepsitakoṭaraṃ || 14 ||
The warriors are engaged in fierce combat, with the clashing of weapons | The brave warriors are burning with the desire to confront the enemy.
योद्धा तीव्र युद्ध में लगे हुए हैं, हथियारों की टक्कर के साथ | वीर योद्धा शत्रु का सामना करने की इच्छा से जल रहे हैं।
पूर्वप्रहारसंप्रेक्षाव्यग्रप्राणतया तया | संशान्तकल्लोलरवं निद्रामुद्रपुरोपमम् || १५ ||
pūrvaprahārasaṃprekṣāvyagraprāṇatayā tayā | saṃśāntakallolaravaṃ nidrāmudrapuropamaṃ || 15 ||
With anxious breath, they watch the previous blows | The sound of the waves is calming, like the gesture of sleep.
चिंतित साँसों के साथ, वे पिछले प्रहारों को देख रहे हैं | लहरों की आवाज शांत है, जैसे नींद का इशारा।
पूर्वप्रद्वारसंम्रेक्षाव्यश्नप्राणतयातया ॥ संशातकल्लोलरवंनिद्रामुदपुरोपमं ॥ || १६ ||
pūrvapradvārasaṃmrakṣāvyaśnaprāṇatayātayā || saṃśātakallolaravaṃnidrāmudapuropamaṃ || || 16 ||
The eastern gate was guarded with the utmost vigilance, and the sound of the waves resembled the roar of a sleeping ocean.
पूर्व द्वार पर सबसे अधिक सावधानी से निगरानी की जा रही थी, और लहरों की आवाज़ सोए हुए समुद्र की गर्जना की तरह थी।
संशान्तशंखसंघाततूर्यनिर्ह्राददुन्दुभिभूतलाकाशसंलीनसर्वपांसुपयोधरम् || १७ ||
saṃśāntaśaṅkhasaṃghātatūryanirhrādadundubhibhūtalākāśasaṃlīnasarvapāṃsupayodharam || 17 ||
The sound of the conch shells, the roar of the drums, and the clamor of the earth and sky merged into the ocean of all particles.
शंखों की ध्वनि, ढोलों की गर्जना, और पृथ्वी और आकाश की गूँज सभी कणों के समुद्र में मिल गई।
पलायनपरैः पश्चात्त्यक्तमङ्गुलमण्डलम्विसारिमकरव्यूहमत्स्यसंख्याब्धिभासुरम् || १८ ||
palāyanaparaiḥ paścāttyaktamaṅgulamaṇḍalamvisārimakaravyūhamatsyasaṃkhyābdhibhāsuram || 18 ||
Those who fled left behind the circular formation of the fingers, resembling the expansive crocodile formation in the ocean of fish.
जो भाग गए, उन्होंने अङ्गुलियों की वृत्ताकार रचना छोड़ दी, जो मछलियों के समुद्र में विस्तृत मगरमच्छ की रचना के समान थी।
पताकामञ्जरीपुञ्जविजिताकाशतारकम्हास्तिकोत्तम्भितकरकाननीकृतखान्तरम् || १९ ||
patākāmañjarīpuñjavijitākāśatārakamhāstikottambhitakarakānanīkṛtakhāntaram || 19 ||
The cluster of flag bunches conquered the stars in the sky, with the elephants raising their trunks, filling the space.
झंडों के गुच्छे आकाश के तारों को जीत गए, हाथियों ने अपनी सूंड़ें उठाकर स्थान को भर दिया।
तरत्तरलभापूरसपक्षसकलायुधम्धमद्धमितिशब्दैश्च श्वासोस्थैर्ध्मातखान्तरम् || २० ||
tarattaralabhāpūrasapakṣasakalāyudhamdhamaddhamitiśabdaiśca śvāsosthairdhmātakhāntaram || 20 ||
The sound of the quivering wings and the clash of weapons, with the rhythm of 'dham dham,' filled the space with breath and stability.
कांपती पंखों और हथियारों की टक्कर की ध्वनि, 'धम धम' की लय से, स्थान को सांस और स्थिरता से भर दिया।
चक्रव्यूहकराक्रान्तदुर्वृत्तसुरभासुरम् | गरुडव्यूहसंरम्भविद्रवन्नागसंचयम् || २१ ||
cakravyūhakarākrāntadurvṛttasurabhāsuram | garuḍavyūhasaṃrambhavidravannāgasaṃcayam || 21 ||
The wicked demons, overwhelmed by the circular formation, fled in fear from the eagle formation, causing a commotion among the serpents.
चक्रव्यूह से घिरे हुए दुष्ट असुरों को गरुड व्यूह से भयभीत होकर भागना पड़ा, जिससे नागों में हलचल मच गई।
श्येनव्यूहविभिन्नाग्रसंनिवेशोत्तमध्वनि | अन्योन्यास्फोटनिःशेषप्रपतद्भूरिवृन्दकम् || २२ ||
śyenavyūhavibhinnāgrasaṃniveśottamadhvani | anyonyāsphoṭaniḥśeṣaprapatadbhūrivṛndakam || 22 ||
The eagle formation, with its scattered front, produced the best sound, and the remaining warriors, clashing with each other, fell in large numbers.
गिद्ध व्यूह के विखंडित अग्रभाग से उत्तम ध्वनि उत्पन्न हुई, और शेष योद्धा एक-दूसरे से टकराकर बड़ी संख्या में गिर पड़े।
विविधव्यूहविन्यासवान्तवीरवरारवम् | करप्रतोलनोल्लासमत्तमुद्गरमण्डलम् || २३ ||
vividhavyūhavinyāsavāntavīravarāravam | karapratolanaullāsamattamudgaramaṇḍalam || 23 ||
The various formations were arranged with the best warriors at the forefront, and the joyous warriors, intoxicated with the sound of the mace, danced with their hands raised.
विभिन्न व्यूहों की व्यवस्था श्रेष्ठ योद्धाओं के साथ अग्रभाग में की गई थी, और गुद्गुदी की आवाज से मतवाले योद्धा हाथ उठाकर नाच रहे थे।
कृष्णायुधांशुजलदश्यामीकृतदिवाकरम् | अनिलाधूतपल्यूलसूत्कृताभशरध्वनि || २४ ||
kṛṣṇāyudhāṃśujaladaśyāmīkṛtadivākaram | anilādhūtapalyūlasūtkṛtābhaśaradhvani || 24 ||
The dark clouds, resembling Krishna's weapons, made the sun dark. The sound of arrows, sharpened by the wind-blown dust, was heard.
कृष्ण के अस्त्रों के समान काले बादलों ने सूर्य को अंधेरा कर दिया। हवा से उड़े धूल से तीखे बने बाणों की आवाज सुनाई दी।
अनेककल्पकल्पाग्रसवृन्दमिव संस्थितम् | प्रलयानिलसंक्षुब्धमेकार्णवमिवोत्थितम् || २५ ||
anekakalpakalpāgrasavṛndamiva saṃsthitam | pralayānilasaṃkṣubdham ekārṇavamivotthitam || 25 ||
It appeared as if a multitude of divine beings had gathered, and the turbulent wind of destruction had arisen like a single vast ocean.
ऐसा लग रहा था मानो अनेक दिव्य प्राणी एकत्र हो गए हों, और विनाश की तूफानी हवा एक विशाल समुद्र के रूप में उठी हो।
सद्यश्छिन्नं महामेरोः पक्षद्वयमिव स्फुरत् | क्षुब्धमारुतनिर्धूतमिव कज्जलपर्वतम् || २६ ||
sadyaśchinnaṃ mahāmeroḥ pakṣadvayamiva sphurat | kṣubdhamārutanirdhūtamiva kajjalaparvatam || 26 ||
The two wings of the great mountain Meru appeared as if they were suddenly cut off, and the mountain of collyrium (kajjala) seemed to be blown away by the agitated wind.
महान मेरु पर्वत के दोनों पंख ऐसे लग रहे थे जैसे वे अचानक कट गए हों, और काजल का पर्वत ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे उसे उद्विग्न हवा ने उड़ा दिया हो।
पातालकुहरात्क्षुब्धमन्धकारमिवोत्थितम् | लोकालोकमिवोन्मत्तनृत्यलोललसत्तटम् | महानरकसंघातं भित्त्वावनिमिवोत्थितम् || २७ ||
pātālakuharātkṣubdhamandhakāramivottitam | lokālokamivonmattanṛtyalolasattataṃ | mahānarakasaṃghātaṃ bhittvāvanimivottitam || 27 ||
It seemed as if the dark abyss of Patala was agitated and rose up, like the boundary between the world and the otherworld, dancing wildly with its swaying shores, and as if the great assembly of hells had risen up, breaking through the earth.
ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे पाताल की गहरी अंधेरी गुफा उद्विग्न होकर उठ रही हो, जैसे लोक और अलोक की सीमा पागलों की तरह नृत्य कर रही हो और उसके तट हिल रहे हों, और जैसे महान नरकों का समूह पृथ्वी को तोड़कर उठ रहा हो।
आलोलकुन्तमुसलासिपरश्वधांशुश्यामायमानदिवसातपवारिपूरैः | एकार्णवं भुवनकोशमिवाचिरेण कर्तुं समुद्यतमगाधमनन्तपूरैः || २८ ||
ālolakuntamusalāsiparaśvadhāṃśuśyāmāyamānadivasātapavāripūraiḥ | ekārṇavaṃ bhuvanakośamivācireṇa kartuṃ samudyatamagādhamanantapūraiḥ || 28 ||
With the dark clouds resembling the swaying ploughs, pestles, swords, and axes, and with the waters of the fathomless and endless oceans, it seemed as if the universe was about to be turned into a single ocean.
हिलते हुए हल, मूसल, तलवार और कुल्हाड़ी के समान काले बादलों के साथ, और अथाह और अनंत समुद्रों के जल के साथ, ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे ब्रह्मांड एक ही समुद्र में बदलने वाला हो।
