श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाचतत्र ते पेततुर्देव्यौ ग्रामेऽन्तःशीतलात्मनिभोगमोक्षश्रियौ शान्ते पुंसीव विदितात्मनि || १ ||

śrīvasiṣṭha uvācatatra te petaturdevyau grāme'ntaḥśītalātmanibhogamokṣaśriyau śānte puṃsīva viditātmani || 1 ||

English

Shri Vasistha said: There, in the peaceful village, the two goddesses, Bhoga (enjoyment) and Moksha (liberation), resided in the self-realized man as if they were his wives.

हिन्दी

श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: वहाँ, शान्त गाँव में, दो देवियाँ, भोग (भोग) और मोक्ष (मुक्ति), आत्मज्ञानी पुरुष में उसकी पत्नियों की तरह निवास करती थीं।

English

By the passage of time and through practice, she became pure knowledge, embodied in one form, seeing the past, present, and future without blemish.

अथ सस्मार सर्वास्ताः प्राक्तनीः संसृतेर्गतीःसा स्वयं स्वरसेनैव प्राग्जन्ममरणादिकाः || ३ ||

atha sasmāra sarvāstāḥ prāktanīḥ saṃsṛtergatīḥsā svayaṃ svarasenaiva prāgjanmamaraṇādikāḥ || 3 ||

English

Then she remembered all her past lives and the cycles of transmigration. She, by her own nature, recalled her previous births and deaths.

लीलोवाचदेवि देशमिमं दृष्ट्वा त्वत्प्रसादात्स्मराम्यहमिह तत्प्राक्तनं सर्वं चेष्टितं चेष्टितान्तरम् || ४ ||

līlovācadevi deśamimaṃ dṛṣṭvā tvatprasādātsmarāmyahamiha tatprāktanaṃ sarvaṃ ceṣṭitaṃ ceṣṭitāntaram || 4 ||

English

The goddess said: Seeing this place by your grace, I remember here all my past actions and their consequences.

देवी ने कहा: आपकी कृपा से इस स्थान को देखकर, मैं यहाँ अपने सभी पिछले कर्म और उनके परिणाम को याद करती हूँ।

इहाभूवमहं जीर्णा शिरालाङ्गी कृशा सिताब्राह्मणी शुष्कदर्भाग्रभेदरूक्षकरोदरा || ५ ||

ihābhūvamahaṃ jīrṇā śirālāṅgī kṛśā sitābrāhmaṇī śuṣkadarbhāgrabhedarūkṣakarodarā || 5 ||

English

Here, I became old, with a wrinkled body, thin, white-haired, a Brahmin woman with a dry, rough, and hollow stomach.

हिन्दी

यहाँ, मैं बूढ़ी हो गई, शरीर झुर्रीदार, दुबली, सफेद बालों वाली, एक ब्राह्मण महिला जिसका पेट सूखा, खरखरा और खोखला था।

भर्तुः कुलकरी भार्या दोहमन्थानशालिनी । माता सकलपुत्राणामतिथीनां प्रियंकरी ॥ || ६ ||

bhartuḥ kulakarī bhāryā dohamanthānaśālinī | mātā sakalaputrāṇāmatithīnāṃ priyaṃkarī || || 6 ||

English

The wife who is the glory of her husband's family, skilled in milking and churning, a mother to all children, and a delight to guests.

जो पति के कुल की करी, दूध और मक्खन निकालने में निपुण, सभी बच्चों की माँ, और अतिथियों को प्रसन्न करने वाली पत्नी है।

देवद्विजसतां भक्ता सिक्ताङ्गी घृतगोरसैःभर्जनी चरुकुम्भादिभाण्डोपस्करशोधिनी || ७ ||

devadvijasatāṃ bhaktā siktāṅgī ghṛtagorasaiḥbharjanī carukumbhādibhāṇḍopaskaraśodhinī || 7 ||

English

Devoted to gods and brahmins, with a body anointed with ghee and cow's milk, she purifies vessels like pots and ladles.

देवताओं और ब्राह्मणों की भक्त, घी और गाय के दूध से अभिषिक्त शरीर वाली, वह बर्तनों जैसे हंडियों और करछुलों को शुद्ध करती है।

नित्यमन्नलवाक्तैककाचकम्बुप्रकोष्ठकाजामातृदुहितृभ्रातृपितृमातृप्रपूजनी || ८ ||

English

She always speaks sweetly and keeps the household items like pots and boxes in order, honoring her mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, brothers, father, and mother.

वह हमेशा मीठे बोल बोलती है और घर की वस्तुओं जैसे बर्तनों और डिब्बों को व्यवस्थित रखती है, अपनी सास, बहू, भाइयों, पिता और माँ का सम्मान करती है।

आदेहं सद्मभृत्यैव प्रक्षीणदिनयामिनीवाचं चिरं चिरमिति वादिन्यनिशमाकुला || ९ ||

ādehaṃ sadmabhṛtyaiva prakṣīṇadinayāminīvācaṃ ciraṃ ciramiti vādinyaniśamākulā || 9 ||

English

Even after the body perishes, she remains a faithful servant, lamenting day and night, saying 'for a long time, for a long time,' and is constantly distressed.

हिन्दी

शरीर के नष्ट होने के बाद भी, वह एक वफादार सेवक बनी रहती है, दिन-रात शोक मनाती है, 'लंबे समय तक, लंबे समय तक,' कहती है, और निरंतर परेशान रहती है।

English

Who am I? What is this world? Even in dreams, there is no discussion. The wife of such a foolish learned man is indeed unfortunate.

हिन्दी

मैं कौन हूँ? यह संसार क्या है? सपनों में भी इस पर कोई चर्चा नहीं होती। ऐसे मूर्ख विद्वान की पत्नी वास्तव में दुर्भाग्यशाली है।

एकनिष्ठा समिच्छाकगोमयेन्धनसंचये । म्लानकम्बलसंवीतशिरालकृशगात्रिका || ११ ||

ekaniṣṭhā samicchākagomayendhanasaṃcaye | mlānakambalasaṃvītaśirālakṛśagātrikā || 11 ||

English

With single-minded devotion, she collects cow dung and fuel, covered with a worn-out blanket, her body emaciated and weak.

हिन्दी

एकाग्रता से, वह गोबर और ईंधन इकट्ठा करती है, एक फटे-पुराने कम्बल से ढंकी हुई, उसका शरीर दुबला-पतला है।

tarṇakīkarṇajāhasthakṛminiṣkāsatatparā | gṛhaśākāyanāsekasatvarāhūtakarparā || 12 ||

English

She is constantly engaged in removing worms from the ears of grain, quickly responding to the calls of her household, and sprinkling water on the vegetable garden.

वह लगातार अनाज के कानों से कीड़े निकालने में व्यस्त है, घर के बुलावों का तुरंत जवाब देती है, और सब्जी के बगीचे पर पानी छिड़कती है।

नीलनीरतरङ्गान्ततृणतर्पिततर्णिका । प्रतिक्षणं गृहद्वारकृतलेपनवर्णका || १३ ||

nīlanīrataraṅgāntatṛṇatarpitatarṇikā | pratikṣaṇaṃ gṛhadvārakṛtalepanavarṇakā || 13 ||

English

She is like a small boat satisfied with the grass at the edge of the blue water waves, constantly decorating the entrance of her home.

हिन्दी

वह नीले जल की लहरों के किनारे घास से संतुष्ट एक छोटी नाव की तरह है, लगातार अपने घर के द्वार को सजाती है।

नीत्यर्थं गृहभृत्यानामादीनकृतवाच्यता । मर्यादानियमादब्धेर्वेलेवानिशमच्युता || १४ ||

nītyarthaṃ gṛhabhṛtyānāmādīnakṛtavācyatā | maryādāniyamādabdhervelēvāniśamacyutā || 14 ||

English

For the sake of daily needs, she speaks harshly to the servants, bound by the rules of propriety, like a boundary that never moves.

हिन्दी

दैनिक आवश्यकताओं के लिए, वह सेवकों से कठोरता से बात करती है, मर्यादा के नियमों से बंधी हुई, जैसे एक ऐसी सीमा जो कभी नहीं हिलती।

जीर्णपर्णसवर्णैककर्णदोलाधिरूढया । काष्ठताड्यजराभीतजीववृत्त्येव चिह्निता || १५ ||

jīrṇaparṇasavarṇaikakarṇadolādhirūḍhayā | kāṣṭhatāḍyajarābhītajīvavṛttyeva cihnitā || 15 ||

English

She is marked by a single earring made of old leaves, fearing old age like a wooden puppet, her livelihood is indicated by this.

हिन्दी

वह पुराने पत्तों के एक कर्णफूल से चिह्नित है, लकड़ी के पुतले की तरह बुढ़ापे से डरती है, उसकी जीविका इससे चिह्नित है।

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | ityuktvā saṃcarantī sā śikharigrāmakoṭare | saṃcarantyāḥ sarasvatyā darśayāmāsa sasmayam || 16 ||

English

Sri Vasistha said: Having said this, she wandered in the mountain village. While wandering, Sarasvati showed her with wonder.

हिन्दी

श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: ऐसा कहकर, वह पहाड़ी गाँव में घूमने लगी। घूमते हुए, सरस्वती ने उसे आश्चर्य से दिखाया।

इयं मे पाटलाखण्डमण्डिता पुष्पवाटिका । इयं मे पुष्पितोद्यानमण्डपाशोकवाटिका || १७ ||

iyam me pāṭalākhaṇḍamaṇḍitā puṣpavāṭikā | iyam me puṣpitodyānamanḍapāśokavāṭikā || 17 ||

English

This is my garden adorned with red lotuses, and this is my blossoming garden with a pavilion and Ashoka trees.

हिन्दी

यह मेरा लाल कमलों से सजा बगीचा है, और यह मेरा खिला हुआ बगीचा है जिसमें एक छतरी और अशोक वृक्ष हैं।

इयं पुष्कीरणीतीरद्रुमाऽऽग्रन्थिततर्णका । इयं सा कर्णिकानाम्नी तर्णिका मुक्तपर्णिका || १८ ||

iyam puṣkīrṇītīradrumā'āgranthitatarṇakā | iyam sā karṇikānāmnī tarṇikā muktaparṇikā || 18 ||

English

This is the tree on the bank of the pond, entwined with vines, and this is the free-leafed creeper named Karnika.

हिन्दी

यह तालाब के किनारे पर लताओं से घिरा हुआ पेड़ है, और यह कर्णिका नामक मुक्त पत्ती वाली बेल है।

इयं सा मेऽलसाकीर्णा वराकी जलहारिका । अद्याष्टमं दिनं बाष्पक्लिन्नाक्षी परिरोदिति || १९ ||

iyam sā me'lasākīrṇā varākī jalahārikā | adyāṣṭamam dinaṃ bāṣpaklinnākṣī pariroditi || 19 ||

English

This is my lazy and excellent water-carrier. Today is the eighth day, and she cries with tear-filled eyes.

हिन्दी

यह मेरी आलसी और उत्कृष्ट पानी बहन वाली है। आज आठवां दिन है, और वह आँसू भरी आँखों से रोती है।

इह देवि मया भुक्तमिहोषितमिह स्थितम् । इह सुप्तमिहापीतमिह दत्तमिहाहृतम् || २० ||

iha devi mayā bhuktaṃ ihoṣitam iha sthitam | iha suptam ihāpītam iha dattam ihāhṛtam || 20 ||

English

O Goddess, here I have eaten, here I have stayed, here I have slept, here I have drunk, here I have given, here I have taken.

हिन्दी

हे देवी, यहाँ मैंने खाया है, यहाँ रहा है, यहाँ सोया है, यहाँ पी है, यहाँ दिया है, यहाँ लिया है।

एष मे ज्येष्ठशर्माख्यः पुत्रो रोदिति मन्दिरे । एषा मे जङ्गले धेनुर्दोग्ध्री चरति शाद्वलम् || २१ ||

eṣa me jyeṣṭhaśarmākhyḥ putro roditi mandire | eṣā me jaṅgale dhenurdogdhrī carati śādvalam || 21 ||

English

This is my eldest son, Jyeshtha Sharma, crying in the temple. This is my cow, wandering in the forest, giving milk.

हिन्दी

यह मेरा ज्येष्ठ पुत्र ज्येष्ठ शर्मा है, जो मंदिर में रो रहा है। यह मेरी गाय है, जो जंगल में घूम रही है, दूध दे रही है।

गृहे वसन्तदाहाय रूक्षक्षारविधूसरम् । स्वदेहमिव पञ्चाक्षं पश्येमं प्रघणं मम || २२ ||

gṛhe vasantadāhāya rūkṣakṣāravidhūsaram | svadehamiva pañcākṣaṃ paśyemam praghaṇam mama || 22 ||

English

In the house, for the burning of spring, it is rough, salty, and dusty. I see this large vessel as if it were my own body.

हिन्दी

घर में, वसंत की धूप के लिए, यह खरा, नमकीन, और धूल भरा है। मैं इस बड़े बर्तन को अपने शरीर की तरह देखता हूँ।

तुम्बीलताभिरुग्राभिः पुष्टाभिरिव वेष्टितम् । महानसस्थानमिदं मम देहमिवापरम् || २३ ||

tumbīlatābhirugrābhiḥ puṣṭābhiriva veṣṭitam | mahānasasthānamidaṃ mama dehamivāparam || 23 ||

English

Covered with strong and nourished Tumbi vines, this dining hall seems like another part of my body.

मजबूत और पोषित तुम्बी लताओं से ढका हुआ, यह भोजन कक्ष मेरे शरीर का एक और हिस्सा लगता है।

एते रोदनताम्राक्षा बन्धवो भुवि बन्धनम् । अङ्गदार्पितरुद्राक्षा आहरन्त्यनलेन्धनम् || २४ ||

ete rodanatāmrākṣā bandhavo bhuvi bandhanam | aṅgadārpitrudraakṣā āharantyanalendhanam || 24 ||

English

These relatives, with eyes reddened from crying, are a bond on earth. With Rudraksha beads offered to their arms, they bring fuel for the fire.

ये रिश्तेदार, रोने से लाल आँखों वाले, धरती पर एक बंधन हैं। अपने हाथों में रुद्राक्ष माला पहने हुए, वे आग के लिए ईंधन लाते हैं।

अनारतं शिलाकच्छे गुच्छाच्छोटनकारिभिः । तरङ्गैः स्थगिताकारं स्पृष्टतीरलतादलैः || २५ ||

anārataṃ śilākacche gucchācchoṭanakāribhiḥ | taraṅgaiḥ sthagitākāraṃ spṛṣṭatīralatādalaiḥ || 25 ||

English

Continuously, the stone fragments are being cut by the clusters. The waves obstruct the form, touched by the shore's vine tendrils.

हिन्दी

निरंतर, पत्थर के टुकड़े गुच्छों द्वारा काटे जा रहे हैं। लहरें आकार को रोकती हैं, किनारे की लताओं की डालियों द्वारा छुई हुई।

सीकराकीर्णपर्यन्तशाद्वलस्थलसल्लतैःशिलाफलहकास्फालप्हेनिलोत्पलसीकरैः || २६ ||

sīkarākīrṇaparyantaśādvalasthalasallataiḥśilāphalahakāsphālaphenilotpalasīkaraiḥ || 26 ||

English

With the drops of water scattered everywhere, the ground is covered with wet grass, stones, fruits, and lotus flowers that are blooming beautifully.

पानी की बूँदों से भरा हुआ यह स्थान गीली घास, पत्थरों, फलों और खिले हुए कमलों से ढका हुआ है।

तुषारीकृतमध्याह्नदिवाकरकरोत्करैःफुल्लपुष्पोत्करासारप्रणादोत्कटटद्रुमैः || २७ ||

tuṣārīkṛtamadhyāhnadivākarakarotkaraiḥphullapuṣpotkarāsārapraṇādotkataṭadrumaiḥ || 27 ||

English

The midday sun is cooled by the frost, and the trees are laden with fully bloomed flowers, emitting a sweet fragrance.

हिन्दी

दोपहर का सूरज हिम से ठंडा हो गया है, और पेड़ पूरी तरह से खिले हुए फूलों से भरे हुए हैं, जो एक मीठी सुगंध फैला रहे हैं।

विद्रुमैरिव संक्रान्तफुल्लकिंशुककान्तिभिःव्याप्तया पुष्पराशीनां समुल्लासनकारिभिः || २८ ||

vidrumairiva saṃkrāntaphullakiṃśukakāntibhiḥvyāptayā puṣparāśīnāṃ samullāsanakāribhiḥ || 28 ||

English

The landscape is filled with the brilliance of fully bloomed Kinsuka flowers, resembling coral, and the fragrance of various flowers spreads joy.

यह परिदृश्य पूरी तरह से खिले हुए किंशुक फूलों की चमक से भरा हुआ है, जो मूंगे के समान लगते हैं, और विभिन्न फूलों की सुगंध आनंद फैला रही है।

The village is bustling with children eagerly collecting ripe fruits, and the village stream is flowing with a joyful murmur.

English

The ground is covered with sparkling, water-washed stones, and the dense trees provide a cool, continuous shade.

जमीन चमकीले, पानी धुले हुए पत्थरों से ढकी हुई है, और घने पेड़ एक ठंडी, लगातार छाया प्रदान करते हैं।

अयमालक्ष्यते फुल्ललतावलनसुन्दरःदलद्गुलुच्छकाच्छन्नगवाक्षो गृहमण्डपः || ३१ ||

ayamālakṣyate phullalatāvalanasundaraḥdaladgulucchakācchannagavākṣo gṛhamaṇḍapaḥ || 31 ||

English

This beautiful house is seen, adorned with blooming vines and hidden by clusters of leaves.

अत्र मे संस्थितो भर्ता जीवाकाशतयाकृतिःचतुःसमुद्रपर्यन्तमेखलाया भुवः पतिः || ३२ ||

atra me saṃsthito bhartā jīvākāśatayā'kṛtiḥcatuḥsamudraparyantamekhalāyā bhuvaḥ patiḥ || 32 ||

English

Here, my husband resides, having the form of the sky, the lord of the earth surrounded by the four oceans.

हिन्दी

आ स्मृतं पूर्वमेतेन किलासीदभिवाञ्छितम्शीघ्रं स्यामेव राजेति तीव्रसंवेगधर्मिणा || ३३ ||

ā smṛtaṃ pūrvametena kilāsīdabhivāñchitamśīghraṃ syāmeva rājeti tīvrasaṃvegadharmiṇā || 33 ||

English

It was remembered earlier by him that he desired to become a king quickly, driven by intense enthusiasm.

दिनैरष्टभिरेवासौ तेन राज्यं समृद्धिमत्चिरकालप्रत्ययदं प्राप्तवान्परमेश्वरि || ३४ ||

dinairaṣṭabhirevāsau tena rājyaṃ samṛddhimatcirakālapratyayadaṃ prāptavānparameśvari || 34 ||

English

Within just eight days, he obtained a prosperous kingdom that was long-awaited, O Supreme Goddess.

केवल आठ दिनों में, उसने एक समृद्ध राज्य प्राप्त किया जो दीर्घकाल से प्रतीक्षित था, हे परमेश्वरी।

अत्रासौ भर्तृजीवो मे स्थितो व्योम्नि गृहे नृपःअदृश्यः खे यथा वायुरामोदो वानिले यथा || ३५ ||

atrāsau bhartṛjīvo me sthito vyomni gṛhe nṛpaḥadṛśyaḥ khe yathā vāyurāmodo vānile yathā || 35 ||

English

Here, my husband's life resides in the sky, in the house, O king, invisible like the wind in the sky, or like fragrance in the air.

ihaivāṅguṣṭhamātrānte tadvyomnyeva padaṃ sthitammadbhartṛrājyaṃ samavagataṃ yojanakoṭibhāk || 36 ||

English

Right here, within the span of a thumb, that very sky stands as the abode. My husband's kingdom has come within reach, a distance of ten million yojanas.

यहीं, अंगुष्ठ के परिमाण में, वही आकाश खड़ा है। मेरे पति का राज्य पहुंच गया है, दस लाख योजन की दूरी पर।

आवां खमेव स्वस्थं च भर्तृराज्यं ममेश्वरिपूर्णं सहस्रैः शैलानां महामायेयमातता || ३७ ||

āvāṃ khameva svasthaṃ ca bhartṛrājyaṃ mameśvaripūrṇaṃ sahasraiḥ śailānāṃ mahāmāyeyamātatā || 37 ||

English

Both of us are indeed in the sky, comfortable, and my husband's kingdom is filled with the divine presence, adorned with thousands of mountains, this great illusion.

Having reached the higher path of the pole star, and having reached the path of the Sādhyas, and having crossed the path of the Siddhas, and having leaped over the earth, reaching the heavenly sphere.

The Goddess said: This ultimate path is the supreme secret of the cosmic egg. From it arise the moon and other celestial bodies, which are mere specks of dust.

English

That which is pure, pervading, peaceful, eternal, free from delusion, devoid of beginning, middle, or end, abides in the great Self.
