Shri Vasishtha said: The consciousness perceives the world as false, being aware of its own experience. Like a mountain seen in the sky painted with the illusion of Maya.
Due to the nature of pure consciousness, consciousness merges into consciousness like water into water. Thus, the experience arises, not otherwise, like two pieces of wood.
Just as a piece of wood does not perceive another piece of wood due to the lack of homogeneity, similarly, the seer does not perceive the insentient seen.
Only in the great conscious self exist water, air, earth, and fire. In these elements, there is no movement, intellect, etc., due to the absence of life and soul.
prāṇabuddhyādayaḥ sattāṃ bhāvanāvaśato gatāḥ| bhāvanā ciccmatkāraḥ sa yathecchamudeti ca || 14 ||
Life, intellect, etc., have attained existence due to the power of imagination. Imagination is the wonder of consciousness, and it arises according to one's will.
brahma sarvaparāṇvātmā yo yasmādarthato'ṇukaḥ | sa sa tattadbhavadvastu vastubrahmaiva tiṣṭhati || 17 ||
Brahman, the supreme self composed of all subtle particles, whatever subtle particle arises from it, that becomes the very substance, and the substance itself is Brahman.
Just as the nature of gold remains unchanged in hundreds of gold forms, similarly, the peaceful nature of the peaceful one remains unchanged in the multitude of creation and dissolution.
For the knower who is devoid of ego, there is unity with the truth. Indeed, qualities like subtlety are as insignificant as the tip of a blade of grass.
In the three worlds, I do not see that which is divine, demonic, or human. The entire universe is a single hair of the great soul for the sake of desire.
In the state of complete tranquility, devoid of all distinctions and desires, who is capable of discerning the similarity between existence and non-existence?
The world is falsely perceived due to delusion, with birth and death. Even in the unreal, delusion persists, like a mirage seen as a riverbank.
One who has attained the ultimate liberation, whose mind has reached the state of complete rest, and who finds peace within the self is considered pure and saintly.
ahamastyavicāreṇa vicāreṇāhamasti no| abhāvādahamarathasya kva jagatkva ca saṃsṛtiḥ || 34 ||
Without self-inquiry, the sense of 'I' exists; with self-inquiry, the sense of 'I' does not exist. Due to the non-existence of the sense of 'I', where is the world and where is the cycle of birth and death?
Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer, whatever you give, whatever you practice, whatever you enjoy, all that is auspicious and imperishable.
Whatever I am, whatever you are, whatever are the actions and times, whatever are the worlds, the sky, and the mountains, all that is the consciousness of the auspicious and pervasive Shiva.
Whatever is seen, thought, or experienced, whatever is the triad of time, whatever is the world, whatever is old age, death, and suffering, all that is the great consciousness of the auspicious Shiva.
Being free from doubts, free from illusions, free from desires, free from the mind, and being a sage, become devoid of the self and attain liberation, remain steadfast as you are.
What could be the cause of joy in the essence of the pure, free from desires and thoughts, and not seeking anything, except for the scriptures? Even the pure one, absorbed in the meaning of the scriptures, has a nature free from intentions in perceptions.
