Open in the readerभास उवाच । मन्दरे मृदुमन्दारमन्दिरे मन्दराभिधाम् । आलिंग्याऽप्सरसं सुप्तं सरित्तृणमिवानयत् || १ ||
bhāsa uvāca | mandare mṛdumandāramandire mandarābhidhām | āliṅgyā'psarasaṃ suptaṃ sarittṛṇamivānayat || 1 ||
Bhasa said: In the soft, beautiful mansion on Mount Mandara, he brought the sleeping Apsara, as if she were a river reed.
भास ने कहा: मन्दर पर्वत के कोमल, सुंदर महल में, उसने सोई हुई अप्सरा को लाया, जैसे वह नदी की घास हो।
मामथासौ मया पृष्टा समाश्वास्य जलाकुला । बाले किमिदमित्युक्तं तया चपलनेत्रया || २ ||
māmathāsau mayā pṛṣṭā samāśvāsya jalākulā | bāle kimidamityuktaṃ tayā capalanetrayā || 2 ||
Then, she, being comforted by me, asked with her restless eyes, 'Child, what is this?' while she was overwhelmed with water.
तब, मैंने उसे आश्वस्त किया, और उसने अपने चंचल नेत्रों से पूछा, 'बच्चे, यह क्या है?' जब वह पानी से भरी थी।
इह चन्द्रोदयेष्वेताश्चन्द्रकान्तकटप्रजाः । नद्यो माद्यन्ति वनिताः सेष्टा इव निशागमे || ३ ||
iha candrodayeṣvetāścandrakāntakaṭaprajāḥ | nadyo mādyanti vanitāḥ seṣṭā iva niśāgame || 3 ||
Here, during the moonrise, the rivers, which are the daughters of the moonstone, intoxicate like women at the onset of night.
यहां, चंद्रोदय के समय, जो चंद्रकांत की पुत्रियां हैं, नदियां रात के आगमन पर मदहोश महिलाओं की तरह हो जाती हैं।
त्वत्संगमरसावेशवशात्तन्ननु विस्मृतम् । इत्युक्त्वा मामुपादाय सोड्डीना विहगीव खम् || ४ ||
tvatsaṃgamarasāveśavaśāttannanu vismṛtam | ityuktvā māmupādāya soḍḍīnā vihagīva kham || 4 ||
Saying, 'Is it not forgotten due to the intoxication of the joy of union with you?' she took me and flew into the sky like a bird.
कहते हुए, 'तुम्हारे साथ मिलन की खुशी के नशे में क्या यह भूल नहीं गया?' उसने मुझे लेकर पक्षी की तरह आकाश में उड़ गई।
भृङ्गं श्रृङ्गवतः श्रृङ्गे गङ्गाकनकपङ्कजे । अहमासं समाः सप्त तत्क्लिन्नोऽकर्दमाप्लुते || ५ ||
bhṛṅgaṃ śrṛṅgavataḥ śrṛṅge gaṅgākanakapaṅkaje | ahamaṃ samāḥ sapta tatklinno'kardamāplute || 5 ||
I was a bee on the golden lotus peak of the mountain, for seven years, wet with mud.
मैं पर्वत के सुनहरे कमल के शिखर पर एक भौंरा था, सात वर्षों तक, मिट्टी से भीगा हुआ।
अन्यन्मया जगद्दृष्टमृक्षचक्रविवर्जितम् | गर्भगर्भस्थैकजातिस्वप्रकाशजनावृतम् || ६ ||
anyanmayā jagaddṛṣṭamṛkṣacakravivarjitam | garbhagarbhasthaikajātisvaprakāśajanāvṛtam || 6 ||
I saw a different world, devoid of the constellations and the zodiac, filled with beings of one kind, self-luminous, and enveloped by their own light.
मैंने एक अलग जगत देखा, जो नक्षत्रों और राशिचक्र से रहित था, एक ही प्रकार के प्राणियों से भरा हुआ था, स्वयंप्रकाशित और अपने ही प्रकाश से घिरा हुआ था।
न दिग्विभागो न दिनानि यत्र न चैव शास्त्राणि न वेदवादाः | न चैव दैत्यादिसुरादिभेदो जगन्मया तादृगथात्मदीप्तम् || ७ ||
na digvibhāgo na dināni yatra na caiva śāstrāṇi na vedavādāḥ | na caiva daityādisurādibhedo jagannmayā tādṛgathātmadīptam || 7 ||
There is no division of directions, no days, no scriptures, no Vedic discourses, no distinction between demons and gods; such is the world I saw, illuminated by the self.
वहाँ कोई दिशाओं का विभाजन नहीं है, न दिन हैं, न शास्त्र हैं, न वेदों के वाद-विवाद हैं, न दैत्यों और देवताओं का भेद है; ऐसा ही जगत मैंने देखा, जो स्वयं से प्रकाशित है।
विद्याधरामरविहारविमानभूमावभ्रंलिहाचलनितम्बकदम्बकच्छे | आसं समाः समरसोऽमरसोमनामा सप्तान्यसप्त ससमुद्रतटे तपस्वी || ८ ||
vidyādharāmaravihāravimānabhūmāvabhraṃlihācalanitambakadambakacche | āsaṃ samāḥ samaraso'marasomanāmā saptānyasapta sasamudratate tapasvī || 8 ||
I spent many years on the celestial planes where the Vidyadharas and gods enjoy, in the abodes of the clouds and mountains, in the company of the gods, for seven times seven years on the seashore as an ascetic.
मैंने विद्याधरों और देवताओं के आनंद लेने वाले दिव्य स्थानों पर बहुत साल बिताए, बादलों और पर्वतों के निवास स्थानों में, देवताओं के साथ, समुद्र तट पर सात गुना सात वर्षों तक तपस्वी के रूप में।
पवनवहनसंनिवेशनानासुहयपयोधरदेहकैरनेकैः | गजहरिणमृगेन्द्रवृक्षवल्लीमृगनगपन्नगपक्षिभिः परीतम् || ९ ||
pavanavahanasanniveśanānāsuhayapayodharadehakairanekaiḥ | gajahariṇamṛgendravṛkṣavallīmṛganagapannagapakṣibhiḥ parītam || 9 ||
The place is surrounded by various beings with bodies of wind, horses, water-bearing clouds, elephants, deer, lions, trees, creepers, animals, serpents, and birds.
यह स्थान वायु, घोड़ों, जलवाहक बादलों, हाथियों, हिरणों, सिंहों, पेड़ों, लताओं, जानवरों, सर्पों और पक्षियों के शरीर वाले विभिन्न प्राणियों से घिरा हुआ है।
गगनमवनितः समेत्य वह्नेर्वरविभवेन जगत्यनन्तकोशम् | क्वचिदहमभितो दिदृक्षुरग्रे सृत उरगाशनवद्वलादविद्याम् || १० ||
gaganamavanitaḥ sametya vahnervaravibhavena jagatyānantakośam | kvacidahamabhito didṛkṣuragre sṛta uragāśanavadvālādavidyām || 10 ||
The sky, having been humbled, united with the splendor of fire, creating an infinite treasure in the world. Sometimes, I, desiring to see, went forth like a serpent seeking knowledge.
आकाश, जो विनम्र हो गया था, अग्नि के तेज से मिलकर, जगत में एक अनंत खजाना बनाता है। कभी-कभी, मैं, देखने की इच्छा से, ज्ञान खोजने वाले सर्प की तरह आगे बढ़ा।
क्वचिदहं जगतः परिनिर्गतः पतित एकमहार्णवविस्तृते | नभसि तत्र निवासिनिभे सितः समयमन्वभवं पतनं तथा || ११ ||
kvacidahaṃ jagataḥ parinirgataḥ patita ekamahārṇavavistṛte | nabhasi tatra nivāsinibhe sitaḥ samayamanvabhavaṃ patanaṃ tathā || 11 ||
Sometimes I have left the world and fallen into the vast ocean of the sky. There, I became like a resident of the sky, white, and experienced the fall according to the time.
कभी-कभी मैं जगत से निकलकर एक विशाल महासागर में गिर पड़ा | वहाँ मैं आकाश का निवासी सा श्वेत हो गया, और समय के अनुसार पतन का अनुभव किया |
आकाशकोशपतनानुभवैकवृत्तेः श्रान्तस्य मे पदमकार्यथ निद्रयान्तः | तादृक्सुषुप्तवपुषाथ मयोपलब्धं स्वप्नात्मजाग्रति तदात्मनि तत्र विश्वम् || १२ ||
ākāśakośapatanaanubhavaikavṛtteḥ śrāntasya me padamakāryatha nidrayāntaḥ | tādṛksuṣuptavapuṣātha mayopalabdhaṃ svapnātmajāgrati tadātmani tatra viśvam || 12 ||
Due to the single experience of falling from the sky-like sheath, I became tired and my position became useless due to sleep. Then, with such a sleeping body, I perceived the world in the dream-like awakened state within myself.
आकाश के समान कोश से गिरने के एकमात्र अनुभव से मैं थक गया और नींद के कारण मेरा स्थान व्यर्थ हो गया | तब, ऐसे सोए हुए शरीर के साथ, मैंने स्वप्न जैसी जागृत अवस्था में अपने आत्मा में विश्व को अनुभव किया |
भूयो दिगन्तभुवनामरमन्दराद्रिसंसारचञ्चलतया लतयेव पक्षी | अक्षीणवातबलया परिचाल्यमानस्तन्मासु तासु पतितो हि जगद्गुहासु || १३ ||
bhūyo digantabhuvanāmaramandarādrisaṃsāracañcalatayā latayeva pakṣī | akṣīṇavātabalayā paricālyamānastanmāsu tāsu patito hi jagadguhāsu || 13 ||
Again, like a bird swaying on a creeper due to the restlessness of the worldly cycle, driven by the unceasing wind, I fell into the caves of the world in those months.
फिर से, संसार की चंचलता के कारण लता पर झूलते हुए पक्षी की तरह, अक्षुण्ण वायु बल से चलायमान, मैं उन महीनों में जगत की गुहाओं में गिर पड़ा |
विषयाशा दृशो यावत्तावद्यातः क्षणादहम् | पुनस्तथैव पश्यंस्तु दृश्यं यातः पुनःपुनः || १४ ||
viṣayāśā dṛśo yāvattāvadyātaḥ kṣaṇādaham | punastathaiva paśyantu dṛśyaṃ yātaḥ punaḥpunaḥ || 14 ||
As long as there is a desire for objects, I go there in an instant. Again, seeing the visible in the same way, I go there repeatedly.
जब तक विषयों की आशा है, मैं क्षणभर में वहाँ जाता हूँ | फिर से, उसी तरह दृश्य को देखते हुए, मैं बार-बार वहाँ जाता हूँ |
इति दृश्यमदृश्यं च गम्यं चागम्यमेव च | वेगाल्लङ्घयतो देशं मम वर्षगणा गताः || १५ ||
iti dṛśyamadṛśyaṃ ca gamyaṃ cāgamyameva ca | vegāllaṅghayato deśaṃ mama varṣagaṇā gatāḥ || 15 ||
Thus, the visible and the invisible, the reachable and the unreachable, passing through the regions with speed, my years have gone by.
इस प्रकार, दृश्य और अदृश्य, गम्य और अगम्य, वेग से क्षेत्रों को पार करते हुए, मेरे वर्षगण बीत गए |
दृश्याख्याया अविद्याया न त्वन्तं प्राप्तवानहम् | मिथ्यैव हृदि रूढायाः पिशाच्या इव बालकः || १६ ||
dṛśyākhyāyā avidyāyā na tvantaṃ prāptavān aham | mithyaiva hṛdi rūḍhāyāḥ piśācyā iva bālakaḥ || 16 ||
I have not reached the end of ignorance, which is known as the perceptible world. Like a child possessed by a ghost, it is firmly rooted in the heart as false.
मैंने दृश्य जगत की अज्ञानता का अंत नहीं पाया है। ऐसे ही जैसे एक बच्चा भूत से प्रभावित होता है, यह हृदय में झूठे ढंग से जड़ पकड़ लेता है।
नेदं नेदं सदित्येव विचारानुभवे स्थितम् | तथापीदमिदं चेति दुर्दृष्टिर्न निवर्तते || १७ ||
nedaṃ nedaṃ sadityeva vicārānubhave sthitam | tathāpīdamidaṃ ceti durdṛṣṭirna nivartate || 17 ||
This is not real, this is not real, it is only the truth that is established in thought and experience. Yet, this wrong perception does not cease.
यह वास्तविक नहीं है, यह वास्तविक नहीं है, यह केवल सत्य है जो विचार और अनुभव में स्थापित है। फिर भी, यह गलत दृष्टिकोण समाप्त नहीं होता।
प्रतिक्षणं सुखैर्दुःखैर्देशकालैः समागमैः | सरिद्वारिवदालोला नवमायान्ति यान्ति च || १८ ||
pratikṣaṇaṃ sukhairduḥkhairdeśakālaiḥ samāgamaiḥ | saridvārivadālolā navamāyānti yānti ca || 18 ||
Every moment, with pleasures and pains, with places and times, like the waves of a river, they come and go.
प्रति क्षण, सुखों और दुःखों के साथ, स्थानों और समयों के साथ, नदी की लहरों की तरह, वे आते और जाते हैं।
तालीतमालबकुलातुलतुङ्गश्रृङ्गमुन्नादवातजवमेकमहं स्मरामि | सूर्यादिभिर्विरहितं प्रकटं स्वकान्त्या सस्थावराद्रितटजङ्गममेव विश्वम् || १९ ||
tālītamālabakulātulatuṅgaśrṛṅgamunnādavātajavamekamahaṃ smarāmi | sūryādibhirvirahitaṃ prakaṭaṃ svakāntyā sasthāvarādritaṭajaṅgamameva viśvam || 19 ||
I remember a single, mighty wind that blew with the fragrance of tālī, tamāla, and bakula flowers, and the lofty peaks. The world, including the mountains and moving beings, was manifest in its own radiance, devoid of the sun and other luminaries.
मैं एक ऐसी शक्तिशाली हवा को याद करता हूँ जो ताली, तमाल और बकुल की सुगंध लेकर चलती थी, और ऊँची चोटियों के साथ। सूर्य और अन्य प्रकाश स्रोतों से रहित, संसार, जिसमें पर्वत और चल प्राणी शामिल हैं, अपनी ही चमक में प्रकट था।
यदेतदेकान्तविहारहारि स्वच्छन्दमेकामितमस्तशङ्कम् | क्वचिन्मया चारुजगत्सु दृष्टं तुल्या न तस्यामरराजलक्ष्मीः || २० ||
yadetadekāntavihārahāri svacchandamekāmitamastaśaṅkam | kvacinmayā cārujagatsu dṛṣṭaṃ tulyā na tasyāmararājalakṣmīḥ || 20 ||
That which is the delight of solitude, freely desired, without any doubt, has been seen by me in the beautiful world. The splendor of the king of the gods is not equal to it.
जो एकांत का आनंद है, स्वेच्छा से चाहा गया, बिना किसी संदेह के, उसे मैंने सुंदर संसार में देखा है। देवराज की शोभा उसके समान नहीं है।
