King Dasharatha said: It is painful that the wise and the ignorant both strive for the sake of ignorance. Therefore, I consider this effort in vain to be futile.
Here itself, in all directions, the sky envelops the earth, established. In all directions, the sky is above, and below it is the surface of the earth.
Whatever appears as mere consciousness, like the reflection in water, how can that be different from another, since it is impossible for it to be otherwise?
The absence in the sky, this is the supreme ether at the beginning of creation | Itself appears like the world, not different from dissolution and creation
Just as it destroys the form of consciousness, so also it attains bliss | It remains for a long time with its own seen and unseen cycles, as long as it remains
That very universe is said to be Brahman, which is the essence of existence. The wise, with their discerning minds, understand this through the reflection of the past and the future.
It is indeed a wonder that this individual soul, which is not different from the Supreme Self, considers itself different due to the illusion of diversity.
I have experienced great joys and sorrows in various bodies over a long period and in distant places. All these experiences are infinite, and I have attained the infinite sky.
Due to the curse of the boon-giver, I have seen various strange bodies in my many births, with a firm resolve to understand the cycle of birth and death.
With the form of a visible body, due to ignorance, I have always been eager to examine the end with speed. In every body, I have been diligent in remembering the world before.
For a thousand years, I was a tree, suffering internally with consciousness. Without a mind, I was like a plant, enjoying the essence of flowers and fruits.
For a hundred years, I was a golden deer, with leaves for ears, enjoying the taste of young grass and singing. I was self-centered, living in the midst of the forest.
With eight legs covering my back, I suffered death from water-borne troubles. For half a hundred years, I was a sharabha, living in the golden caves of the Krauncha mountain.
kālāgurudrumalatāvalitānileṇa vidyādharīsuratadharmakalāmṛtāni | pītāni me malayasānuni mandare ca mandāracandanakadambalatāgṛheṣu || 37 ||
I have drunk the nectar of the arts of love, enjoyed by the Vidyadharis and the gods, which was carried by the breeze laden with the fragrance of the kalaguru trees, in the abodes of mandara, sandalwood, and kadamba vines on the Malaya and Mandara mountains.
I have drunk the honey tinged with the pollen of golden lotuses for fifteen hundred years on Mount Meru, and I have enjoyed the waters flowing from the cascades above, while playing with the son of Brahma's swan.
I have heard the enchanting songs of the beautiful women of Mathura, which remove sorrow and old age, for a hundred years, carried by the fragrant breeze from the groves of the kshiroda trees with swaying blue lotuses.
In the forest of Kalanjara, where the karanja trees hum, I became a jackal. There, I saw an elephant killed by a lion, crushed by the elephant, for the sake of my journey, with the help of a sage.
In the beautiful Sahyadri mountains, in a certain part of another world, I was a celestial woman with a smiling face, living alone for half of the Krita Yuga in a wish-fulfilling tree's abode, due to a sage's curse.
Elsewhere, I was taken to the forest of Kadamba trees by the best of ascetics, and I spent the days there, absorbed in the single-minded devotion to the ultimate truth.
There is another world filled with the cosmic egg, inhabited by aquatic beings, extending to the ends of all directions, with a doubtful radiant sky, and a land formed only by water beings.
I saw a woman in one place, and in her body, the three worlds appeared as if reflected in a clear mirror, along with the sky, mountains, and directions.
I asked her, 'O beautiful lady, who are you and what kind of body is this of yours?' She replied, 'O dear one, I am pure consciousness; these are my limbs, the great elements.'
yathāhamevaṃ smayadehikeyaṃ sarvaṃ tathaivāṅga na citrametat| anyaiḥ svabhāvo vidito na śuddho yadā na paśyanti tadetthamaṅga || 48 ||
Just as I am, so is this body of mine; everything is just the same, O dear one, there is nothing strange about this. When others do not see the pure nature, then it appears like this, O dear one.
avedaśāstreṇa jagatyśeṣairbhūtaiḥ svadehālayabhittibhāgāt| etadvidheyaṃ na vidheyametaddhvaniḥ svataḥ śrūyata eva nityam || 49 ||
By the scripture of the Vedas, all beings in the world are parts of one's own body. This is to be known, not to be known; sound is heard by itself always.
īdṛksvabhāvaiva padārthasattā sā te'tra yadbhittyacalādayo'pi| svapnādimāyāsviva me vadanti vācaṃ na yuṣmāsvasamañjasaṃ tat || 50 ||
Such is the nature of the reality of things; that is yours here, even if it is like the immovable wall, etc. They speak to me as if in dreams or illusions, but that speech is not appropriate for you.
anyatra dṛṣṭaṃ gaganena yāvadihaāndhayā grāmagṛhāṇi yānti | viśantyamutrānta ihābhavadvogrāmaḥ sa evānyata eva labdhaḥ || 53 ||
Elsewhere, it is seen that the sky takes away the houses of the village blindly. They enter there and here they become the same village obtained from another place.
I remember a unique world that is devoid of the moon, stars, and sun, and is self-luminous. It is the source of all beings and is free from day and night, appearing like a blazing fire.
I remember the infinite great worlds that have unique demons, snakes, humans, gods, and other beings, unique trees and cities, and unique activities in other worlds.
digasti sā no vihṛtaṃ na yasyāṃ na so'sti deśaḥ khalu yo na dṛṣṭaḥ | yannānubhūtaṃ na tadasti kāryamanyāśrayaṃ nāparamasti marśāt || 57 ||
There is no direction that is not pervaded by Her, nor is there any place that is not seen by Her. There is no action that is not experienced by Her, nor is there any other support besides Her.
I remember the sound of the jingling anklets of the goddesses, which were shaken by the force of the waterfalls from the jeweled peaks of Mount Mandara, churned by the ocean of milk, and the sound of the thunderous roar of Indra's arm ornaments gathered together.
