sahacarā ūcuḥevaṃprāyāḥ kathāḥ kurvatpaśyainanmithunaṃ mahatpānaṃ pravṛttavatsāraṃ pātuṃ padmanibhekṣaṇa || 1 ||
The companions said, 'While conversing, look at this great couple, drinking and enjoying, with lotus-like eyes.'
सहचर कहा, 'बातचीत करते हुए, इस महान जोड़े को देखो, जो पी रहे हैं और कमल की तरह आँखों से आनंद ले रहे हैं।'
कदलीकंदलीस्वच्छगुच्छाच्छोटनपण्डिताःविविधा वायवो वान्ति पुष्पकेसरमण्डिताः || २ ||
kadalīkandalīsvacchagucchācchoṭanapaṇḍitāḥvividhā vāyavo vānti puṣpakesaramaṇḍitāḥ || 2 ||
The various winds blow, adorned with the fragrance of flowers, skilled in gently shaking the pure bunches of plantain trees.
विविध हवाएँ चलती हैं, फूलों की सुगंध से सजी हुईं, जो केले के पेड़ों के शुद्ध गुच्छों को हल्के से हिलाने में कुशल हैं।
वान्ति वाता वनोद्वान्तविविधामोदमांसलाःपीतघर्मकणाः क्रान्तललनालकलालकाः || ३ ||
vānti vātā vanodvāntavividhāmodamāṃsalāḥpītagharmakaṇāḥ krāntalalanālakalālakāḥ || 3 ||
The winds blow, carrying various pleasant fragrances from the forest, with drops of warm sunshine falling on the swaying creepers.
हवाएँ चलती हैं, जंगल से विविध सुखद सुगंध लेकर, गर्म धूप की बूँदों के साथ झूलती लताओं पर गिरती हैं।
कुलाचलगुहागेहवलनोद्यन्मृगाधिपाःसरन्त्यसुरसंरम्भैर्लवणार्णवमारुताः || ४ ||
kulācalaguhāgehavalanodyanmṛgādhipāḥsarantyasurasaṃrambhairlavaṇārṇavamārutāḥ || 4 ||
The lords of the animals, moving with the fragrant breezes of the salty ocean, stir the caves of the mountains with their powerful roars.
पशुओं के अधिपति, नमकीन समुद्र की सुगंधित हवाओं के साथ चलते हैं, अपने शक्तिशाली गर्जन से पहाड़ों की गुफाओं को हिलाते हैं।
तमालतालतरललीलान्दोलनलालिताःअनिलाजलकल्लोलोत्क्रान्तकोमलपल्लवाः || ५ ||
tamālatālataralalīlāndolanalālitāḥanilājalakallolotkrāntakomalapallavāḥ || 5 ||
The tender leaves of the swaying Tamala trees are adorned with the playful movements of the wind, creating delightful waves.
झूलते हुए तमाल के पेड़ों की कोमल पत्तियाँ हवा के खेल से सजी हुईं हैं, जो मनमोहक लहरें पैदा करती हैं।
ललन्नवलतावान्तपुष्पधूलिविधूसराः | सरन्ति मरुतो मन्दमुद्यानेषु नृपा इव || ६ ||
lalannavalatāvāntapuṣpadhūlivadhūsarāḥ | saranti maruto mandamudyāneṣu nṛpā iva || 6 ||
The gentle breezes, colored by the pollen of the flowers of the newly blooming creepers, move slowly in the gardens like kings.
नव लताओं के फूलों की पराग धूल से रंगे हुए मन्द वायु उद्यानों में राजाओं की तरह धीरे-धीरे बहती हैं।
मधुरं वंशविश्रान्तो गातुमेष वनानिलः | प्रवृत्तः पाण्डुनगरनारीभिरिव शिक्षितः || ७ ||
madhuraṃ vaṃśaviśrānto gātumeṣa vanānilaḥ | pravṛttaḥ pāṇḍunagaranārībhiriva śikṣitaḥ || 7 ||
The forest breeze, having rested on the bamboo, sings sweetly, as if taught by the women of Pāṇḍu's city.
वन की हवा, जो बाँस पर विश्राम कर चुकी है, मधुर स्वर में गाती है, मानो पाण्डु नगर की नारियों द्वारा शिक्षित हो।
निकारः कर्णिकारेण पवनस्य यदा कृतः | तदा परिहरन्त्येनं भ्रमरा अपि दूरतः || ८ ||
nikāraḥ karṇikāreṇa pavanasya yadā kṛtaḥ | tadā pariharantyenaṃ bhramarā api dūrataḥ || 8 ||
When the breeze is scented with the fragrance of the Karṇikāra flowers, even the bees avoid it from a distance.
जब हवा कर्णिकार फूलों की सुगन्ध से भर जाती है, तब भ्रमर भी उससे दूर रहते हैं।
न ददाति फलं किंचिदर्थिने न च पल्लवम् | तालः स्तम्भतयाऽऽरम्भं ह्यरूपैव विनाऽऽकृतिः || ९ ||
na dadāti phalaṃ kiñcidarthine na ca pallavam | tālaḥ stambhatayā'ārambhaṃ hyarūpaiva vinā'ākṛtiḥ || 9 ||
The palm tree does not yield any fruit or leaves to the seeker; it begins with a trunk, devoid of any form.
ताड़ का पेड़ न तो फल देता है न ही पत्ते, यह एक तने के साथ शुरू होता है, जिसमें कोई आकृति नहीं होती।
राग एव हि शोभायै निर्गुणानां जडात्मनाम् | राजेव राजते राजन्रागेणैवैष किंशुकः || १० ||
rāga eva hi śobhāyai nirguṇānāṃ jaḍātmanām | rājeva rājate rājanrāgeṇaiva eṣa kiṃśukaḥ || 10 ||
It is passion alone that adorns the insentient and quality-less beings; like a king, this passion makes the Palash tree shine.
जड़ और गुणहीन वस्तुओं को सुशोभित करने वाला राग ही है; राजा की तरह, यह राग ही पलाश को चमकाता है।
आगच्छ कर्णिकारोऽयं विकारस्यैव भाजनम्| निरामोदः किमेतेन निर्गुणेनेव जन्तुना || ११ ||
āgaccha karṇikāro'yaṃ vikārasyaiva bhājanam| nirāmodaḥ kimeten nirguṇeneva jantunā || 11 ||
Come, this Karnikara tree is the vessel of transformation| What joy is there in this creature devoid of qualities?
आओ, यह कर्णिकार वृक्ष परिवर्तन का भाजन है| इस गुणहीन जीव में क्या आनंद है?
विलोलमञ्जरीजालतडित्सङ्गस्थितोऽसितः| चातकस्याम्बुदभ्रान्तिं तमालः कुरुते मुधा || १२ ||
vilolamañjarījālatadiṭsaṅgasthito'sitaḥ| cātakasyāmbudabhrāntiṃ tamālaḥ kurute mudhā || 12 ||
The unsteady network of buds and lightning, the dark one stands| The Tamala tree foolishly causes the Chaataka bird's delusion about the cloud.
अस्थिर कलियों और बिजली का जाल, काला खड़ा है| तमाल वृक्ष मूर्खतापूर्वक चातक पक्षी को बादल का भ्रम कराता है|
पत्राला घनसंघाताः सच्छायावृतभूभृतः| गुणानां महतां योग्या वंशा वंशा इवोन्नताः || १३ ||
patrālā ghanasaṃghātāḥ sacchāyāvṛtabhūbhṛtaḥ| guṇānāṃ mahatāṃ yogyā vaṃśā vaṃśā ivotnatāḥ || 13 ||
The dense clusters of leaves cover the earth with shade| The bamboos, worthy of great qualities, stand tall like lineages.
घने पत्तों के झुंड पृथ्वी को छाया से ढके हुए हैं| महान गुणों के योग्य बाँस वंशों की तरह ऊँचे खड़े हैं|
हेमसान्वासनस्थोऽग्र्यो वातव्याधितटोऽम्बुदः| तडित्पीताम्बरं धत्ते क्षुब्धं हरिरिवोद्भवः || १४ ||
hemasānvāsanastho'gryo vātavyādhitato'mbudaḥ| tadiṭpītāmbaraṃ dhatte kṣubdhaṃ haririvodbhavaḥ || 14 ||
The excellent one, situated in the golden seat, the cloud afflicted by the wind disease| It wears the lightning-yellow garment, like the agitated Hari at the beginning.
श्रेष्ठ, स्वर्ण आसन पर स्थित, वायु रोग से पीड़ित बादल| यह बिजली के पीले वस्त्र पहने हुए है, जैसे आरंभ में क्षुब्ध हरि|
प्रवेशनिर्गमव्यग्रतरत्खगशिलीमुखः| प्रफुल्लकिंशुको भाति वीरो रक्त इवासृजा || १५ ||
praveśanirgamavyagrataratkhagaśilīmukhaḥ| praphullakiṃśuko bhāti vīro rakta ivāsṛjā || 15 ||
The Palash tree, with its mouth full of busy birds entering and exiting, appears like a hero bathed in blood.
पलाश वृक्ष, जिसके मुख में प्रवेश और निर्गम करते व्यस्त पक्षियों से भरा हुआ है, रक्त से स्नान करने वाले वीर की तरह दिखाई देता है|
मन्दारमञ्जरीपुञ्जपिञ्जराम्भोदमन्दिरे | महेन्द्रमस्तके मत्ताः सुप्ता गन्धर्वकामिनः || १६ ||
mandāramañjarīpuñjapiñjarāmbhodamandire | mahendramastake mattāḥ suptā gandharvakāminaḥ || 16 ||
In the palace of clouds, which is like a cluster of mandara flowers, on the peak of Mahendra, the intoxicated Gandharva women are sleeping.
मन्दार फूलों के गुच्छे के समान बादलों के महल में, महेन्द्र पर्वत की चोटी पर, मतवाली गंधर्व स्त्रियाँ सो रही हैं।
कल्पद्रुमवनच्छाया विश्रान्ता विततान्विताः | पश्य पार्थिव गायन्ति सिद्धविद्याधराध्वगाः || १७ ||
kalpadrumavanačchāyā viśrāntā vitatānvitāḥ | paśya pārthiva gāyanti siddhavidyādharādhvagāḥ || 17 ||
See, O King, the Siddhas, Vidyadharas, and travelers are singing, resting in the shade of the Kalpa tree forest, adorned with spread out limbs.
देखो, हे राजन्, सिद्ध, विद्याधर और यात्री कल्पवृक्ष वन की छाया में फैले हुए अंगों से सुशोभित विश्राम कर रहे हैं और गा रहे हैं।
पश्य कल्पद्रुमस्यास्य पल्लवे पल्लवे वने | विश्रान्ताः सुरसुन्दर्यो गायन्ति च हसन्ति च || १८ ||
paśya kalpadrumasyāsya pallave pallave vane | viśrāntāḥ surasundaryo gāyanti ca hasanti ca || 18 ||
See, in every leaf of this Kalpa tree forest, the celestial beauties are resting, singing, and laughing.
देखो, इस कल्पवृक्ष वन के हर पत्ते में, दिव्य सुंदरियाँ विश्राम कर रही हैं, गा रही हैं और हँस रही हैं।
मन्दिरं मन्दपालस्य मन्दरे मृदुमन्दिरे | मुनेरिदमुदारस्य भार्या सा यस्य पक्षिणी || १९ ||
mandiraṃ mandapālasya mandare mṛdumandire | muneridamudārasya bhāryā sā yasya pakṣiṇī || 19 ||
This is the gentle abode of Mandapala on the Mandara mountain, the wife of that noble sage whose companion is a bird.
यह मन्दार पर्वत पर मन्दपाल का कोमल निवास है, उस उदार मुनि की पत्नी जिसकी साथी एक पक्षी है।
अन्योन्यामतसिंहेभनकुलोरगकेलिकाम् | पश्य मुन्याश्रमश्रेणिं सर्वर्तुकुसुमद्रुमाम् || २० ||
anyonyāmatasiṃhebhanakuloragakelikām | paśya munyāśramasreṇiṃ sarvartukusumadrumām || 20 ||
See the row of the sage's hermitage, adorned with flowers of all seasons, where lions and tigers play with snakes in harmony.
देखो ऋषि के आश्रम की पंक्ति, जो सभी ऋतुओं के फूलों से सुशोभित है, जहाँ सिंह और बाघ साँपों के साथ सद्भावना से खेलते हैं।
विद्रुमद्रुममिश्राणामम्भोधितटवीरुधाम् | बिम्बितार्काः कचन्त्येते पल्लवेषूदबिन्दवः || २१ ||
vidrumadrumamiśrāṇāmambhodhitataṭavīrudhām | bimbitārkāḥ kacantyete pallaveṣūdabindavaḥ || 21 ||
The water drops on the young leaves of the trees on the seashore, mixed with coral trees, shine like the sun.
समुद्र तट पर मोती और मणि के पेड़ों के मिश्रण से बने वृक्षों के नये पत्तों पर पड़े हुए पानी के कतरे सूर्य के समान चमकते हैं।
वीचयो रत्नमाणिक्यपदेष्वावर्तवृत्तिभिः | विलसन्ति विलासिन्यो वक्षःस्विव विलासिनाम् || २२ ||
vīcayo ratnamāṇikyapadeṣvāvartavṛttibhiḥ | vilasanti vilāsinyo vakṣaḥsviva vilāsinām || 22 ||
The waves in the ocean, with their whirlpools, shine like the breasts of beautiful women adorned with jewels.
समुद्र की लहरें, जिनमें भंवर हैं, जेवरों से सजी सुंदर महिलाओं के वक्ष के समान चमकती हैं।
नागलोकेन्द्रलोकस्त्रीगमनागमनोद्भवः | दिव्यो भूषणझांकारः श्रूयते नभसः श्रृणु || २३ ||
nāgalokendralokastrīgamanāgamanodbhavaḥ | divyo bhūṣaṇajhāṃkāraḥ śrūyate nabhasaḥ śr̥ṇu || 23 ||
The divine sound of the ornaments of the women from the Nagaloka and the heavenly realm can be heard in the sky.
नागलोक और देवलोक की महिलाओं के आभूषणों की दिव्य ध्वनि आकाश में सुनाई देती है।
श्रवणोपान्तविभ्रष्टमदमत्तालिनीस्वरैः | ऐरावणस्नानभुवो गायन्तीव गुहा गिरेः || २४ ||
śravaṇopāntavibhraṣṭamadamattālinīsvaraīḥ | airāvaṇasnānabhuvo gāyantīva guhā gireḥ || 24 ||
The cave in the mountain, resounding with the intoxicating sounds of the bees, seems to be singing like the bathing place of Airavana.
पर्वत की गुफा, जो मधुमत्त भौंरों की मधुर ध्वनि से गूँज रही है, ऐरावण के स्नानस्थल के समान गाती हुई प्रतीत होती है।
ह्रसतोऽनुदिनं कृष्णपक्षे कृष्णान्तलेखिकाः | दृश्यन्ते कृशगात्रस्य वास्तुकावलयोऽम्बुधेः || २५ ||
hrasato’nudinaṃ kṛṣṇapakṣe kṛṣṇāntalekhikāḥ | dṛśyante kṛśagātrasya vāstukāvalayo’mbudheḥ || 25 ||
The diminishing lines of the waning moon can be seen daily on the thin crescent of the ocean.
कृष्ण पक्ष में दिन प्रतिदिन घटती चन्द्रमा की रेखाएँ समुद्र की पतली लहरों पर दिखाई देती हैं।
आमोदगन्धश्वसना सच्छाया शीतलाङ्गिका | एकान्तदर्शिताकारा नानाकुसुमपूरिता || २६ ||
āmodagandhaśvasanā sacchāyā śītalāṅgikā | ekāntadarśitākārā nānākusumapūritā || 26 ||
The forest is fragrant, cool, and shady, filled with various flowers, and appears solitary.
वन सुगंधित, ठंडा और छायादार है, विभिन्न फूलों से भरा हुआ और एकांत में दिखाई देता है।
वनविन्यासवसना निर्झरामलहासिनी | आस्तीर्णपुष्पास्तरणा धन्या वनविलासिनी || २७ ||
vanavinyāsavasanā nirjharāmalahāsinī | āstīrṇapuṣpāstaraṇā dhanyā vanavilāsinī || 27 ||
The forest is adorned with various arrangements, laughing with clear streams, covered with a bed of flowers, and blessed with the enjoyment of the forest.
वन विभिन्न व्यवस्थाओं से सजा हुआ है, स्वच्छ झरनों के साथ हँसता है, फूलों की शय्या से ढका हुआ है, और वन के आनंद से धन्य है।
रमन्ते नन्दनोद्याने न तथोदारबुद्धयः | यथोपशान्तशब्दासु शुद्धासु वनभूमिषु || २८ ||
ramante nandanodyāne na tathodārabuddhayaḥ | yathopaśāntaśabdāsu śuddhāsu vanabhūmiṣu || 28 ||
Those with noble minds do not enjoy the Nandana garden as much as they enjoy the pure and quiet forest lands.
उदार बुद्धि वाले लोग नंदन उद्यान का आनंद उतना नहीं लेते जितना कि शांत और शुद्ध वनभूमि का।
सुविरक्तं मुनेश्चेतो रक्तं च विषयार्थिनः | रमयन्ति समं रम्या विजना वनभूमयः || २९ ||
suviraktaṃ muneśceto raktaṃ ca viṣayārthinaḥ | ramayanti samaṃ ramyā vijanā vanabhūmayaḥ || 29 ||
The delightful and solitary forest lands equally delight the minds of sages and those who seek pleasure.
सुंदर और एकांत वनभूमि मुनियों और सुख खोजने वालों के मन को समान रूप से प्रसन्न करती है।
सलिलाधौतवप्राणामम्भोधितटभूभृताम् | नूपुरैरिव रत्नौघैः पादा भान्ति ध्वनन्ति च || ३० ||
salilādhautavaprāṇāmambhodhitataṭabhūbhṛtām | nūpurairiva ratnaughaiḥ pādā bhānti dhvananti ca || 30 ||
The feet of those whose lives are purified by the ocean's waves shine and resonate like jewel-studded anklets.
जिनके जीवन समुद्र की लहरों द्वारा शुद्ध होते हैं, उनके पैर रत्नजड़ित पायल की तरह चमकते और गूँजते हैं।
पुंनागनगविश्रान्ताः कान्तकाञ्चनकान्तयः| हेमचूडाः खगा भान्ति दिवि देवगणा इव || ३१ ||
puṃnāganagaviśrāntāḥ kāntakāñcanakāntayaḥ| hemacūḍāḥ khagā bhānti divi devagaṇā iva || 31 ||
The birds, resting on the branches of the Punnaga trees, with golden crests, shine in the sky like the hosts of gods.
पुन्नाग वृक्षों की डालियों पर विश्राम करते हुए सोने के समान चमकते पक्षी आकाश में देवताओं के समूह की तरह चमक रहे हैं।
भ्रमराम्भोदधूमाढ्याः फुल्लचम्पककाननाः| कम्पन्ते पश्य वातेन ज्वलिता इव पर्वताः || ३२ ||
bhramarāmbhodadhūmāḍhyāḥ phullacampakakānanāḥ| kampante paśya vātena jvalitā iva parvatāḥ || 32 ||
Look, the groves of blooming Champaka trees, filled with the smoke of bees, tremble with the wind like mountains on fire.
देखो, भौंरों के धुएँ से भरे खिले हुए चम्पक वृक्षों के समूह हवा से काँप रहे हैं, जैसे आग लगे पर्वत की तरह।
कुर्वन्तं करवीराग्रलतान्दोलावदोलकम्| कोकिलं कोकिलालिङ्ग्य लोलालापयति प्रियम् || ३३ ||
kurvantaṃ karavīrāgralatāndolāvadolakam| kokilaṃ kokilāliṅgya lolālāpayati priyam || 33 ||
The cuckoo, clinging to the swinging tendrils of the Karavira plant, sings sweetly, swaying back and forth.
कोयल, करवीर पौधे की झूलती लताओं से चिपकी हुई, मधुर स्वर में गा रही है, आगे-पीछे झूलती हुई।
लसत्कलकलारावमेता लावणसैन्धवीः| पूर्णास्तटभुवो भूपैः पश्योपायनपाणिभिः || ३४ ||
lasatkalakalārāvametā lāvaṇasaindhavīḥ| pūrṇāstaṭabhuvo bhūpaiḥ paśyopāyanapāṇibhiḥ || 34 ||
Look, these salt-laden rivers are full, with kings holding water pots in their hands.
देखो, ये नमक से भरी नदियाँ पूरी हैं, राजाओं के हाथों में जल के घड़े हैं।
न शस्त्रैः परमैर्युक्तो न च युद्धविशारदः || ३५ ||
na śastraiḥ paramairyukto na ca yuddhaviśāradaḥ || 35 ||
Not equipped with the best weapons, nor skilled in warfare.
श्रेष्ठ शस्त्रों से सुसज्जित नहीं, न ही युद्ध कला में निपुण।
