Open in the readerततः शिखिध्वजो राजा तत्त्वज्ञानपदं विना आजगाम परं मोहं तमोन्धत्वमिवाप्रजाः || १ ||
tataḥ śikhidhvajo rājā tattvajñānapadaṃ vinā ājagāma paraṃ mohaṃ tamondhatvamivāprajāḥ || 1 ||
Then King Śikhidhvaja, without attaining the state of true knowledge, fell into great delusion, as if enveloped by darkness.
तब राजा शिखिध्वज, सच्चे ज्ञान की स्थिति को प्राप्त किए बिना, महान भ्रम में गिर गए, मानो अंधकार से घिर गए हों।
दुःखाग्निदीपितमना मनागपि विभूतिषुतास्वभीष्टोपनीतासु न रेमेऽग्निशिखास्विव || २ ||
duḥkhāgnidīpitamanā manāgapi vibhūtiṣutāsvabhīṣṭopanītāsu na reme'gniśikhāsviva || 2 ||
Even though his mind was tormented by the fire of sorrow, he did not find joy in the desired objects brought by his prosperity, like flames that do not delight in fuel.
यद्यपि उनका मन दुःख की आग से जल रहा था, फिर भी वे अपनी समृद्धि द्वारा लाए गए इच्छित वस्तुओं में आनंद नहीं पा सके, मानो लपटें ईंधन में आनंद नहीं लेतीं।
आययौ यामिनी श्यामा भुवनं भस्मधूसरम् धृतव्योमापगं शर्वं संश्लेषा यमुनेव सा || ३ ||
āyayau yāminī śyāmā bhuvanaṃ bhasmadhūsaram dhṛtavyomāpagaṃ śarvaṃ saṃśleṣā yamuneva sā || 3 ||
The dark night approached, covering the world with ashes, holding the sky and moving like the Yamuna river, embracing everything.
काली रात आई, जो दुनिया को राख से ढकती है, आकाश को थामे हुए और यमुना नदी की तरह सब कुछ को आलिंगन करती हुई चलती है।
राघव त्वमिवाशेषाः सान्त्वानुनयबोधनैःप्रार्थितः कार्यते भृत्यैर्महीपो दिवसक्रियाः || ४ ||
rāghava tvamivāśeṣāḥ sāntvānunayabodhanaiḥprārthitaḥ kāryate bhṛtyairmahīpo divasakriyāḥ || 4 ||
O Raghava, you are requested by your servants with appeasement, persuasion, and advice to perform the daily duties of the earth.
हे रघुवंशी, आप अपने सेवकों द्वारा सांत्वना, विनय और बोध से प्रार्थना की जाती है कि आप पृथ्वी के दैनिक कार्यों का निर्वाहन करें।
ददावतितरां दानं गोभूमिकनकादिकम्देवेभ्यो ब्राह्मणेभ्यश्च स्वजनेभ्यश्च मानद || ५ ||
dadāvatitarāṃ dānaṃ gobhūmikanakādikamdevebhyo brāhmaṇebhyaśca svajanebhyaśca mānada || 5 ||
He gave the highest charity, including cows, land, and gold, to the gods, Brahmins, and his own people.
उन्होंने गायें, भूमि और सोना सहित उच्चतम दान दिया देवताओं, ब्राह्मणों और अपने लोगों को।
चचार च तपः कर्तुं कृच्छ्रचान्द्रायणादिकम् | परिबभ्राम तीर्थानि वनान्यायतनानि च || ७ ||
cacāra ca tapaḥ kartuṃ kṛcchracāndrāyaṇādikam | paribabhrāma tīrthāni vanānyāyatanāni ca || 7 ||
He performed severe austerities such as Kṛcchra and Cāndrāyaṇa | He wandered around sacred places, forests, and temples.
उसने कृच्छ्र और चान्द्रायण जैसी कठोर तपस्याएँ कीं | उसने तीर्थों, वनों और मन्दिरों का भ्रमण किया।
स तथापि विशोकत्वं न मनागपि लब्धवान् | अनिधानां खनन्भूमिं निधानार्थी निधिं यथा || ८ ||
sa tathāpi viśokatvaṃ na manāgapi labdhvān | anidhānāṃ khananbhūmiṃ nidhānārthī nidhiṃ yathā || 8 ||
Even then, he did not attain freedom from sorrow | Like one searching for a treasure without knowing its location.
फिर भी, उसने दुःख से मुक्ति नहीं पाई | जैसे कोई खजाने की खोज कर रहा हो बिना उसके स्थान के ज्ञान के।
रात्रिंदिवं महानेष शुष्यत्येव कृशानुना | चिन्तया चिन्तयामास संसारव्याधिभेषजम् || ९ ||
rātriṃdivaṃ mahāneṣa śuṣyatyeva kṛśānunā | cintayā cintayāmāsa saṃsāravyādhibheṣajam || 9 ||
Day and night, the great sage dried up with worry | He contemplated the remedy for the disease of worldly existence.
दिन-रात, महान ऋषि चिंता से सूखता गया | उसने संसार के रोग का उपचार सोचा।
चिन्तापरवशो दीनो राज्यं स्वस्य विषोपमम् | महाविभवमप्यग्रे नापश्यत्खिन्नया धिया || १० ||
cintāparavaśo dīno rājyaṃ svasya viṣopamam | mahāvibhavamapyagre nāpaśyatkhinnayā dhiyā || 10 ||
Overwhelmed by worry, the miserable one saw his kingdom, which was like poison | Even the great prosperity before him, he did not see with his exhausted mind.
चिंता से व्याकुल, दुःखी व्यक्ति ने अपना राज्य, जो विष के समान था, देखा | उसके सामने महान समृद्धि भी थी, पर उसने अपने थके हुए मन से नहीं देखा।
अथैकदैकान्तगतां चूडालामङ्कमागताम् | इदं मधुरया वाचा समुवाच शिखिध्वजः || ११ ||
athaikadaikāntagatāṃ cūḍālāmaṅkamāgatām | idaṃ madhurayā vācā samuvāca śikhidhvajaḥ || 11 ||
Then one day, when Chudala came to him in solitude | Shikhidhvaja spoke to her with sweet words.
फिर एक दिन, जब चूडाला एकांत में उसके पास आई | शिखिध्वज ने मधुर वाणी से उससे कहा।
शिखिध्वज उवाच | भुक्तं राज्यं चिरं कालं भुक्ता विभवभूमयः | अधुनास्मि विरागेण युक्तो गच्छामि काननम् || १२ ||
śikhidhvaja uvāca | bhuktam rājyam ciram kālam bhuktā vibhavabhūmayaḥ | adhunāsmi virāgeṇa yukto gacchāmi kānanam || 12 ||
Shikhidhvaja said: I have enjoyed the kingdom for a long time and have experienced great wealth. Now, I am filled with detachment and am going to the forest.
शिखिध्वज ने कहा: मैंने राज्य का सुख बहुत दिनों तक भोगा है और बहुत सारा धन-सम्पत्ति भी भोगी है | अब मैं वैराग्य से भरा हुआ हूँ और वन की ओर जा रहा हूँ |
न सुखानि न दुःखानि नापदो न च संपदः | क्रोडीकुर्वन्ति तन्वङ्गि मुनिं वननिवासिनम् || १३ ||
na sukhāni na duḥkhāni nāpado na ca sampadaḥ | kroḍīkurvanti tanvangi munim vananivāsinam || 13 ||
Neither pleasures nor pains, neither calamities nor prosperity, affect the sage who lives in the forest, O slender-waisted one.
न तो सुख और न ही दुःख, न ही विपत्ति और न ही समृद्धि, वन में रहने वाले मुनि को प्रभावित करती है, हे पतली कमर वाली।
न देशभङ्गसंमोहो न संग्रामे जनक्षयः | राज्यादप्यधिकं मन्ये सुखं वननिवासिनाम् || १४ ||
na deśabhaṅgasammoho na saṅgrāme janakṣayaḥ | rājyādapyadhikam manye sukham vananivāsinām || 14 ||
There is no confusion due to the destruction of the country, nor the loss of people in war. I consider the happiness of those who live in the forest to be greater than that of the kingdom.
देश के विनाश से कोई भ्रम नहीं होता, न ही युद्ध में जनता का नाश होता है। मैं वन में रहने वालों के सुख को राज्य से भी अधिक मानता हूँ।
स्तबकस्तनधारिण्यो रक्तपल्लवपाणयः | मञ्जरीजालहारिण्यो लोलशुभ्राम्बुदांशुकाः || १५ ||
stabakastanadhāriṇyo raktapallavapāṇayaḥ | mañjarījālahāriṇyo lolasubhrāmbudāṃśukāḥ || 15 ||
The women with breasts like buds, holding red blossoms in their hands, wearing garlands of flower clusters, and dressed in white garments that sway gently.
स्तन बुद्बुद जैसे स्त्रियाँ, जिनके हाथों में लाल पल्लव हैं, फूलों के गुच्छों की मालाएँ पहने हुए, और सफेद वस्त्र पहने हुए जो हल्के से लहरा रहे हैं।
स्वपरागाङ्गरागिण्यः कृतकौसुममण्डनाः | आसेव्यकाञ्चनशिलानितम्बतटशोभिताः || १६ ||
svaparāgāṅgarāgiṇyaḥ kṛtakausumamaṇḍanāḥ | āsevyakāñcanaśilānitambataṭaśobhitāḥ || 16 ||
The women, adorned with their natural beauty and wearing saffron ornaments, who frequent the golden rocks, are beautified by their hips touching the rocks.
स्वाभाविक रंग से सजी हुई स्त्रियाँ, जिन्होंने केसर के आभूषण पहने हैं, जो सोने के पत्थरों के पास रहती हैं, उनकी कमर पत्थरों से सजी हुई है।
तरङ्गमौक्तिकप्रोतसरिन्मुक्तालतावृताः | लतावयस्यावलिता मुग्धमुग्धमृगात्मजाः || १७ ||
taraṅgamauktikaprotasarinmuktālatāvṛtāḥ | latāvayasyāvalitā mugdhamugdhamṛgātmajāḥ || 17 ||
The waves are adorned with pearls and the creepers are entwined with them, the innocent deer are surrounded by the creepers.
तरंगें मोतियों से सजी हुई हैं और लताएँ उनसे लिपटी हुई हैं, मासूम हिरण लताओं से घिरे हुए हैं।
स्वभावोद्दामसौगन्ध्या वितीर्णफलभोजनाः | षट्पदश्रेणिनयनाः पुष्पापूरलताङ्गिकाः || १८ ||
svabhāvoddāmasaugandhyā vitīrṇaphalabhojanāḥ | ṣaṭpadaśreṇinayanāḥ puṣpāpūralatāṅgikāḥ || 18 ||
With their natural fragrance spread, they enjoy the fallen fruits, their eyes following the lines of bees, and they are adorned with flower-laden creepers.
अपनी प्राकृतिक सुगंध फैलाते हुए, वे गिरे हुए फलों का आनंद लेते हैं, उनकी आँखें मधुमक्खियों की पंक्तियों का अनुसरण करती हैं, और वे फूलों से भरी लताओं से सजे हुए हैं।
आस्वाद्यस्यन्दतां याताः शीतलामलगात्रिकाः | रमयन्ति त्वमिव मां वनवीथ्यो वरानने || १९ ||
āsvādyasyandatāṃ yātāḥ śītalāmalagātrikāḥ | ramayanti tvamiva māṃ vanavīthyo varānane || 19 ||
Having tasted the flowing nectar, they have become cool and pure, the forest paths delight me like you, O beautiful one.
मधुर रस का स्वाद लेकर, वे ठंडे और पवित्र हो गए हैं, वन की वीथियाँ मुझे आपकी तरह आनंदित करती हैं, हे सुंदरी।
यथा विविक्तमेकान्ते मनो भवति निर्वृतम् | न तथा शशिबिम्बेषु न च ब्रह्मेन्द्रसद्मसु || २० ||
yathā viviktamekānte mano bhavati nirvṛtam | na tathā śaśibimbeṣu na ca brahmendrasadmasu || 20 ||
As the mind becomes content in solitude, it does not find such contentment in the moon's disc or in the abodes of Brahma and Indra.
जैसे मन एकांत में संतुष्ट होता है, वैसे चंद्रमा के मंडल या ब्रह्मा और इंद्र के निवास स्थानों में ऐसी संतुष्टि नहीं मिलती।
अस्मिन्सन्मन्त्रणे तन्वि न विघ्नं कर्तुमर्हसि | भर्तुर्विघटयन्तीच्छां न स्वप्नेऽपि कुलस्त्रियः || २१ ||
asmiṃsanmantraṇe tanvi na vighnaṃ kartumarhasi | bharturvighaṭayantīcchāṃ na svapne'pi kulastriyaḥ || 21 ||
In this auspicious conversation, O slender one, you should not create any obstacle. Even in dreams, noble women do not disrupt their husband's desires.
इस शुभ संवाद में, हे कोमल, आपको कोई बाधा नहीं डालनी चाहिए। स्वप्न में भी, कुलवधुएँ अपने पति की इच्छाओं को विघ्नित नहीं करतीं।
चूडालोवाच | प्राप्तकालं कृतं कार्यं राजते नाथ नेतरत् | वसन्ते राजते पुष्पं फलं शरदि राजते || २२ ||
chūḍālovāca | prāptakālaṃ kṛtaṃ kāryaṃ rājate nātha netarat | vasante rājate puṣpaṃ phalaṃ śaradi rājate || 22 ||
Chudala said: The task accomplished at the right time shines, O Lord, not otherwise | The flower shines in spring, the fruit shines in autumn
चूडाला ने कहा: सही समय पर किया गया कार्य चमकता है, हे नाथ, अन्यथा नहीं | फूल वसंत में चमकता है, फल शरद में चमकता है
जराजरठदेहानां युक्तो वनसमाश्रयः | न यूनां त्वादृशामेव तेनैतन्मे न रोचते || २३ ||
jarājaraṭhadēhānāṃ yukto vanasamāśrayaḥ | na yūnāṃ tvādṛśāmeva tenaitanmē na rocate || 23 ||
For those with aged and decrepit bodies, it is appropriate to seek refuge in the forest | But not for youths like you, therefore this does not appeal to me
बूढ़े और जर्जर शरीर वालों के लिए, वन में शरण लेना उचित है | लेकिन आप जैसे युवाओं के लिए नहीं, इसलिए यह मुझे अच्छा नहीं लगता
यौवनेन महाराज न यावद्वयमुज्झिताः | पुष्पौघेणेव तरवस्तावच्छोभामहे गृहे || २४ ||
yauvanēna mahārāja na yāvadvayamujjhitāḥ | puṣpaugheṇēva taravastāvacchobhāmahē gṛhē || 24 ||
O great king, as long as we are not abandoned by youth, like trees with a mass of flowers, we adorn the house
हे महाराज, जब तक हम युवावस्था से छूटे नहीं हैं, फूलों के ढेर वाले पेड़ों की तरह, हम घर को सजाते हैं
पुष्पधाना पुष्पमितजरसा सह काननम् | समं गृहाद्गमिष्यामो हंसा इव सरोवरात् || २५ ||
puṣpadhānā puṣpamitajarasā saha kānanam | samaṃ gṛhādgamiṣyāmo haṃsā iva sarovarāt || 25 ||
We will go to the forest together, like flower-bearing trees with their blossoms and fruits, like swans from a lake
हम फूलों और फलों से भरे पेड़ों की तरह, साथ-साथ वन में जाएँगे, जैसे हंस तालाब से
अप्राप्तकालं नृपतेः प्रजापालनमुज्झतः | राजन्यस्यैव रन्ध्रस्य महदेनो भविष्यति || २६ ||
aprāptakālaṃ nṛpatēḥ prajāpālanamujjhataḥ | rājanyasyaiava randhrasya mahadēno bhaviṣyati || 26 ||
If the king abandons the protection of his subjects before the right time, a great sin will befall the flaw in his duty
यदि राजा सही समय से पहले अपने प्रजाओं की रक्षा छोड़ देता है, तो उसके कर्तव्य में दोष के कारण एक बड़ा पाप होगा
अप्राप्तकारिणं भूपं रोधयन्ति च वै प्रजाःरोधयन्ति ह्यकार्येभ्यः प्रभुं भृत्याः परस्परम् || २७ ||
aprāptakāriṇaṃ bhūpaṃ rodhayanti ca vai prajāḥrodhayanti hyakāryebhyaḥ prabhuṃ bhṛtyāḥ parasparam || 27 ||
The subjects obstruct the king who does not perform his duties, and the servants obstruct the master from wrong deeds, mutually.
प्रजाजन अपने कर्तव्यों को न निभाने वाले राजा को रोकते हैं, और सेवक गलत कामों से स्वामी को परस्पर रोकते हैं।
शिखिध्वज उवाचालमुत्पलपत्राक्षि विघ्नेनाभिमतस्य मेविद्धि मां गतमेव तो दूरमेकान्तकाननम् || २८ ||
śikhidhvaja uvācaalamutpalapatrākṣi vighnenābhimatasya meviddhi māṃ gatameveto dūramekāntakānanam || 28 ||
Shikhidhvaja said: Enough, lotus-eyed one, due to the obstacle, my desire has been fulfilled. Know that I have gone far into the solitary forest.
शिखिध्वज ने कहा: बस, कमलनयनी, बाधा के कारण मेरी इच्छा पूरी हो गई है। जान लो कि मैं एकांत वन में दूर चला गया हूँ।
बाला त्वमनवद्याङ्गि नागन्तव्यं वनं त्वयापुंसामपि हि मृद्वङ्गि दुर्विगाह्यो वनाश्रयः || २९ ||
bālā tvamanavadyāṅgi nāgantavyaṃ vanaṃ tvayāpuṃsāmapi hi mṛdvaṅgi durvigāhyo vanāśrayaḥ || 29 ||
O young lady with a flawless body, you should not go to the forest. Even for men, the forest is difficult to penetrate, O gentle one.
हे निर्दोष शरीर वाली युवती, तुम्हें वन में नहीं जाना चाहिए। हे कोमलांगी, पुरुषों के लिए भी वन दुर्गम है।
समर्था न वनावासे योषितः कठिना अपिकानने पुष्पमञ्जर्यः सोढुं शस्त्रालिमक्षमाः || ३० ||
samarthā na vanāvāse yoṣitaḥ kaṭhinā apikānane puṣpamañjaryaḥ soḍhuṃ śastrālimakṣamāḥ || 30 ||
Women, though capable, are not able to endure the harshness of forest life, even in a beautiful forest filled with flowers, and are unable to bear the sight of weapons.
यद्यपि स्त्रियाँ समर्थ हैं, फिर भी वे वनवास की कठिनाइयों को सहन नहीं कर सकतीं, चाहे वह फूलों से भरा सुंदर वन ही क्यों न हो, और न ही वे हथियारों का दृश्य सहन कर सकती हैं।
भवत्या पालयन्त्येह राज्ये स्थातव्यमुत्तमेकुटुम्बभारोद्वहनं पत्यौ याते व्रतं स्त्रियः || ३१ ||
bhavatyā pālayantyeha rājye sthātavyamuttamekuṭumbabhārodvahanaṃ patyau yāte vrataṃ striyaḥ || 31 ||
Women should stay in the kingdom and protect it, bearing the burden of the family when the husband is away, observing their vows.
स्त्रियाँ राज्य में रहकर उसकी रक्षा करें, पति के गए होने पर परिवार का भार उठाएँ और अपने व्रतों का पालन करें।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | इत्युक्त्वा दयितां राजा तामिन्दुवदनां वशी | उत्तस्थौ स्नातुमखिलं दिनकार्यं चकार च || ३२ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | ityuktvā dayitāṃ rājā tāminduvadanāṃ vaśī | uttasthau snātumakhilaṃ dinakāryaṃ cakāra ca || 32 ||
Sri Vasistha said: Having said this, the king, who had his beloved with a face like the moon under his control, rose to bathe and performed all his daily duties.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: ऐसा कहकर, राजा, जिसके पास चंद्रमुखी प्रिया थी, उसके वश में होकर, स्नान करने के लिए उठा और सभी दैनिक कार्य किए।
अथोज्झितप्रजाचेष्टो रविरस्ताचलं ययौ | शिखिध्वजो वनमिव समस्तजनदुर्गमम् || ३३ ||
athojjhitaprajāceṣṭo ravirastācalaṃ yayau | śikhidhvajo vanamiva samastajanadurgamam || 33 ||
Then, leaving behind the activities of the people, the sun set behind the mountain, like a peacock entering a forest that is inaccessible to all.
तब, लोगों की गतिविधियों को छोड़कर, सूर्य पर्वत के पीछे अस्त हो गया, जैसे एक मोर एक ऐसे वन में प्रवेश करता है जो सभी के लिए दुर्गम है।
संहृत्य विततं रूपं तमेवानुययौ प्रभा | नाथं भवननिष्क्रान्तं चूडालेवानुरागिणी || ३४ ||
saṃhṛtya vitataṃ rūpaṃ tamevānuyayau prabhā | nāthaṃ bhavananiṣkrāntaṃ cūḍālevānurāgiṇī || 34 ||
Having withdrawn her expanded form, the radiance followed him alone, like Chudala, who is affectionate towards her lord who has left the house.
अपने विस्तृत रूप को समेटकर, प्रभा (चमक) उसी का अनुसरण करती है, जैसे चूडाला, जो अपने घर से निकले स्वामी के प्रति अनुरागी है।
दिक्षु संध्याब्ददन्तासु स्थितासु कृतमण्डलम् | तमालबालकाङ्कासु ज्योत्स्नाहासोदयाङ्कितम् || ३६ ||
dikṣu saṃdhyābddadantāsu sthitāsu kṛtamaṇḍalam | tamālabālakāṅkāsu jyotsnāhāsodayāṅkitam || 36 ||
In the directions where the twilight clouds are situated, forming a circle, adorned with the laughter of the moonlight and the cries of the peacocks.
जहाँ संध्या के बादल स्थित हैं, एक मंडल बनाकर, चाँदनी की हँसी और मोरों की पुकार से सजे हुए।
गच्छतोरपरं पारं दंपत्योर्मैरव पदम् | देवोद्यानमयं रन्तुं दिनश्रीदिननाथयोः || ३७ ||
gacchatōraparaṃ pāraṃ dampatyōrmairava padam | dēvōdyānamayaṃ rantuṃ dinaśrīdinanāthayōḥ || 37 ||
The divine couple, going to the other shore, the abode of Mairava, to enjoy the divine garden, the splendor of the day and the lord of the day.
दिव्य दंपती, दूसरे तट पर जा रहे हैं, मैरव का निवास, देवोद्यान का आनंद लेने के लिए, दिन की शोभा और दिन के स्वामी का।
आगच्छतोरिदं पारं ह्यघतीक्ष्णकरोज्झितम् | निशानिशानायकयोर्दंपत्योर्मैरवं पुनः || ३८ ||
āgacchatōridam pāram hyaghatīkṣṇakarōjjihitam | niśāniśānāyakayōrdampatyōrmairavam punah || 38 ||
The night passed, and the couple, the king and queen of the night, enjoyed their union again.
रात बीत गई, और रात के राजा और रानी के जोड़े ने फिर से अपने संयोग का आनंद लिया।
तारागणोऽथ ददृशे विकीर्णो व्योमकुट्टिमे | मुक्तो मङ्गललाजानां दिग्वधूभिरिवाञ्जलिः || ३९ ||
tārāgaṇō'tha dadṛśe vikīrṇō vyōmakuṭṭimē | mukto maṅgalalājānām digvadhūbhirivāñjaliḥ || 39 ||
Then the stars appeared scattered in the sky, like the auspicious rice grains offered by the brides of the directions.
फिर तारे आकाश में बिखरे हुए दिखाई दिए, जैसे दिशाओं की दुलहनों द्वारा चढ़ाए गए शुभ चावल के दाने।
चन्द्रानना तमःश्यामा श्रान्ता कुसुमहासिनी | यामिनी यौवनं प्राप सरोजमुकुलस्तनी || ४० ||
candrānanā tamaḥśyāmā śrāntā kusumahāsinī | yāminī yauvanaṃ prāpa sarojamukulastanī || 40 ||
The night, with a moon-like face, dark and tired, adorned with flowers, attained youthfulness, with breasts like lotus buds.
चंद्र-सी मुखवाली, काली और थकी हुई रात, फूलों से सजी हुई, युवावस्था को प्राप्त हुई, कमल के कली जैसे स्तनों वाली।
कृतसंध्यासमाचारः सहचूडालयेष्टया | सुष्वाप शयने भूयो मैनाक इव सागरे || ४१ ||
kṛtasaṃdhyāsamācāraḥ sahacūḍālayeṣṭayā | suṣvāpa śayane bhūyo maināka iva sāgarē || 41 ||

sa tasyāṃ saṃprasuptāyāṃ śayane komalāṃśuke | bhṛśaṃ nidrāvimūḍhāyāṃ bhramaryāmiva paṅkaje || 43 ||

uttasthau śayanāllīnavadhūkārdhāñcalāṃśukāt | salakṣmīkāntilolormerhariḥ kṣīrārṇavādiva || 45 ||
He rose from the bed, leaving behind his beloved who was half-covered by the cloth, like Lord Vishnu rising from the milky ocean, with the radiant Lakshmi by his side.

vīrakramārthaṃ yāmīti tatraivānucaravrajam | yojayitvā jagāmāsau purān nirgatya pūrṇadhīḥ || 46 ||

एक ऐसा स्थान जहाँ पेड़ों के चारों ओर बहते हुए पानी का तालाब है, और जहाँ पुराने ब्राह्मणों का आश्रम है, जो खंडहर मंदिर से ज्ञात है।
क्षुद्रप्राणिविनिर्मुक्तसिद्धसेव्यलतालयम् | आपूर्णपादपलतं प्राणवृत्तिक्ररैः फलैः || ५४ ||
kṣudraprāṇivinirmuktasiddhasevyalatālayam | āpūrṇapādapalataṃ prāṇavṛttikraraiḥ phalaiḥ || 54 ||
A place free from small creatures, worshipped by the perfected ones, filled with fruit-bearing trees that sustain life.
एक ऐसा स्थान जो छोटे जीवों से मुक्त है, सिद्धों द्वारा पूजित है, और जीवन को बनाए रखने वाले फलदायी पेड़ों से भरा हुआ है।
तत्रैकस्मिन्समे शुद्धे स्थले सलिलमालिते | शीतले शाद्वलश्यामे स्निग्धे सफलपादपे || ५५ ||
tatraikasmin same śuddhe sthale salilamālite | śītale śādvalaśyāme snigdhe saphalapādape || 55 ||
There, in a pure and level place adorned with water, cool, green with grass, smooth, and filled with fruit-bearing trees.
वहाँ, एक पवित्र और समतल स्थान है जो पानी से सजा हुआ है, ठंडा, घास से हरा, चिकना, और फलदायी पेड़ों से भरा हुआ है।
समञ्जरीभिर्वल्लीभिः स चकारोटजालयम् | प्रावृट्कालः सविद्युद्भिर्नीलाभ्रैरिव पञ्जरम् || ५६ ||
samañjarībhirvallībhiḥ sa cakāroṭajālayam | prāvṛṭkālaḥ savidyudbhirnīlābhrairiva pañjaram || 56 ||

कन्थां शीतापनोदाय बृसीं चैव मृगाजिनम् | आनीयायोजयत्तस्मिन्मठिकामन्दिरे नृप || ५८ ||
kanthāṃ śītāpanodāya bṛsīṃ caiva mṛgājinam | ānīyāyojayattasminmaṭhikāmandire nṛpa || 58 ||
He brought a blanket to ward off the cold, a seat, and a deer skin, and arranged them in the hut, O king.

संध्यापूर्वं जपं प्रातः प्रहरे स तदाकरोत् | पुष्पोच्चयं द्वितीये तु स्नानं देवार्चनं ततः || ६० ||
sandhyāpūrvam japam prātaḥ prahare sa tadākarot | puṣpoccayam dvitīye tu snānam devārcanam tataḥ || 60 ||
In the early morning, before dawn, he performed japa (chanting) during the first part of the day. In the second part, he collected flowers, took a bath, and then worshipped the deities.

iti divasamakhedam mandaropāntakacche viracita uṭaje'ntarmālaveśo nināya | navanṛpativilāsam tam na sasmāra kam vā sphurati hṛdi viveke rājyalakṣmyo haranti || 62 ||
Thus, he spent the day without fatigue, adorned with a garland of Mandara flowers, in the beautifully decorated hut, not remembering the pleasures of new kingship. In his heart, only the wisdom that takes away the splendor of royalty shines.
इस प्रकार, उसने थकान के बिना दिन बिताया, मंदार फूलों की माला से सजा हुआ, सुंदर रूप से सजी कुटिया में, नए राज्य के सुखों को याद नहीं किया। उसके हृदय में सिर्फ वह बुद्धिमत्ता चमकती है जो राज्य की शोभा को ले जाती है।
