Shri Vasistha said: Where the self is unmanifested, there everything is pervaded by it. Like a peacock in a seed, it is the beginning and end of all.

2

tathā ca munayo devā gaṇāḥ siddhā maharṣayaḥ | āsvādayantaḥ svaṃ rūpaṃ sadā turyapade sthitāḥ || 3 ||

English

Similarly, sages, gods, groups of siddhas, and great seers always experience their true form in the fourth state.

ete ye stabdhanayanadṛṣṭayo nirnimeṣiṇaḥ | te dṛśyadarśanāsaṅgaspandatyāge vyavasthitāḥ || 4 ||

cittacetyasamāsaṅgatyāge te svapade sthitāḥ| spandātsaṃsādhayantyarthaṃ tenāṃśeneśvaro yathā || 7 ||

English

Those who have abandoned the association with the mind and consciousness remain in their own state. They accomplish their purpose through the vibration, just as the Lord does through a part of Himself.

tathaiva cittacetyādispandātkurvanti saṃsthitim| yathā hlādayati svacchaḥ pallavaṃ raśmiraindavaḥ || 8 ||

English

Similarly, from the vibration of the mind and consciousness, they attain stability, just as the pure ray of the moon delights the bud.

tathātmā hlādayatyantardṛśyadarśanasamgame| bimbāddūraṃ prayātasya bhittāvapatitasya ca || 9 ||

English

Similarly, the self delights in the union of the inner vision and the visible, just as the reflection that has gone far from the original and fallen on the wall.

na jīvo nāpi ca spando na saṃvittirna vai jagat | na sannāsanna madhyaṃ ca śūnyāśūnyaṃ na caiva hi || 12 ||

English

It is not the individual soul, nor the vibration, nor the consciousness, nor the world. It is not existence, nor non-existence, nor the middle. It is not void, nor non-void.

yatraitatspandate dṛśyaṃ tattadātmapadaṃ bhavet | yacca nādyaṃ na kalpāntaṃ na vastvādyanilādibhiḥ || 14 ||

English

Where this visible world vibrates, that is the state of the Self. That which is neither the beginning nor the end, nor the primary elements like air, etc.

sabāhyābhyantarasyāsya nātmākāśasya khaṇḍanā | tacca dehādi sakalamātmaivātmavidāṃ vara || 16 ||

English

The division of the inner and outer space is not of the Self. All that, including the body, is only the Self for the best among the knowers of the Self.

kevalaṃ bodhavairūpyādīṣatpṛthagiva sthitam | viṣvagātmamayaṃ viśvaṃ jñātaṃ buddhyā susiddhayā || 17 ||

English

Only due to the difference in consciousness, it appears slightly separate. The universe is pervaded by the Self and is known through pure intellect.
