श्रीराम उवाच | अथ किं वीतहव्यः स्वं स्थितं तस्मिन्धरोदरे | कथमुद्धृतवान्देहं स संपन्नश्च किं कथम् || १ ||

śrīrāma uvāca | atha kiṃ vītahavyaḥ svaṃ sthitaṃ tasmin dharodare | kathamuddhṛtavāndehaṃ sa saṃpannaśca kiṃ katham || 1 ||

English

Sri Rama said: Then, what happened to Vītahavya, who was situated in that cave? How did he extract his body, and how did he become complete?

हिन्दी

श्री राम ने कहा: फिर, वीतहव्य का क्या हुआ, जो उस गुफा में स्थित था? उसने अपने शरीर को कैसे निकाला, और वह कैसे पूर्ण हो गया?

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | अनन्तरमनन्तात्म वीतहव्याभिधं मनः | स्वमेवात्मचमत्कारमात्रं समवबुद्धवान् || २ ||

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | anantaramanantātma vītahavyābhidhaṃ manaḥ | svamevātmacamatkāramātraṃ samavabuddhavān || 2 ||

English

Sri Vasistha said: Immediately, the infinite self, known as Vītahavya, realized his own self as the mere wonder of the self.

हिन्दी

श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: तुरंत, अनंत आत्मा, जिसे वीतहव्य कहते हैं, ने अपने आप को आत्मा के आश्चर्य के रूप में समझा।

शार्वस्यास्य गणस्याभूत्प्राग्ज्योतिःस्मरणे स्वयम् | इच्छा कदाचित्सकलप्राग्जन्मालोकनोन्मुखी || ३ ||

śārvasya asya gaṇasyābhūt prāgjyotiḥsmaraṇe svayam | icchā kadācit sakalaprāgjanmālokanonmukhī || 3 ||

English

Of this group of Shiva, there arose a desire in the remembrance of the former light, which was inclined towards the vision of all previous births.

हिन्दी

इस शिव के गण में, पूर्व प्रकाश के स्मरण में एक इच्छा उत्पन्न हुई, जो सभी पूर्वजन्मों के दर्शन की ओर उन्मुख थी।

अशेषान्स ददर्शाथ नष्टानष्टान्स्वदेहकान् | अनष्टानां ततो मध्यात्तत्तत्कोटरसंस्थितम् || ४ ||

aśeṣān sa dadarśātha naṣṭānaṣṭānsvadehakān | anaṣṭānāṃ tato madhyāt tat tat koṭarasaṃsthitam || 4 ||

English

He then saw all the destroyed and undestroyed bodies. Among the undestroyed, he saw each one situated in its respective place.

हिन्दी

उसने फिर सभी नष्ट और अनष्ट शरीरों को देखा। अनष्ट शरीरों में से, उसने प्रत्येक को अपने-अपने स्थान पर स्थित देखा।

यदृच्छयैव प्रोद्धर्तुं देहं तस्याभवन्मतिः | अपश्यत्तत्तथा तत्र पङ्के कीटमिव स्थितम् || ५ ||

yadṛcchayaiva prodhartuṃ dehaṃ tasyābhavanmatiḥ | apaśyat tat tathā tatra paṅke kīṭamiva sthitam || 5 ||

English

By chance, he decided to extract the body. He saw it there, situated like an insect in the mud.

हिन्दी

यदृच्छा से, उसने शरीर को निकालने का निश्चय किया। उसने उसे वहाँ देखा, जैसे कीट किचड़ में स्थित होता है।

शरीरं वीतहव्याख्यं धराकोटरपीडितम् | प्रावृडोघोपनीतं तत्पृष्ठस्थपङ्कमण्डलम् || ६ ||

śarīraṃ vītahavyākhyaṃ dharākoṭarapīḍitam | prāvṛḍoghopanītaṃ tatpṛṣṭhastapaṅkamaṇḍalam || 6 ||

English

The body, devoid of oblations, afflicted by the earth's hardness, brought by the rain's flood, and covered with a layer of mud on its back.

हिन्दी

शरीर, हव्य से रहित, धरती की कठोरता से पीड़ित, वर्षा के जल से लाया गया, और पीठ पर मिट्टी की परत से ढका हुआ।

तृणजालावकीर्णत्वग्देहपृष्ठमृदं तथा | एतद्दृष्ट्वा महातेजा धराविवरयन्त्रितम् || ७ ||

tṛṇajālāvakīrṇatvagdehapṛṣṭhamṛdaṃ tathā | etaddṛṣṭvā mahātejā dharāvivarayantritam || 7 ||

English

Seeing the body covered with a layer of mud and grass, the great radiant one, constrained by the earth's cavity.

हिन्दी

शरीर को मिट्टी और घास की परत से ढका हुआ देखकर, महान तेजस्वी, धरती की खाई से बंधा हुआ।

भूयोऽपि चिन्तयामास धिया परमबोधया | सर्वसंपीडिताङ्गत्वात्कायो मे प्राणवायुभिः || ८ ||

bhūyo'pi cintayāmāsa dhiyā paramabodhayā | sarvasaṃpīḍitāṅgatvātkāyo me prāṇavāyubhiḥ || 8 ||

English

Again, he thought with supreme intelligence, due to the complete constriction of the limbs, my body cannot move even a little by the vital airs.

हिन्दी

फिर से, उसने परम बुद्धि से सोचा, अंगों के पूर्ण संकुचन के कारण, मेरा शरीर प्राणवायुओं द्वारा थोड़ा भी नहीं हिल सकता।

मुक्तश्चलितुमाकर्तुं शक्नोति न मनागपि | तज्ज्ञात्वा प्रविशाम्याशु देहमेवं विवस्वतः || ९ ||

muktaścalitumākartuṃ śaknoti na manāgapi | tajjñātvā praviśāmyāśu dehamevaṃ vivasvataḥ || 9 ||

English

Being unable to move even a little, knowing this, I will quickly enter this body of Vivasvat.

हिन्दी

थोड़ा भी हिलने में असमर्थ होने पर, इसे जानकर, मैं जल्दी से इस विवस्वत के शरीर में प्रवेश करूँगा।

तदीयः पिङ्गलो देहमुद्धरिष्यति मे ततः | अथवा किं ममैतेन शाम्याम्यहमविघ्नतः || १० ||

tadīyaḥ piṅgalo dehamuddhariṣyati me tataḥ | athavā kiṃ mamaittena śāmyāmyahamavighnataḥ || 10 ||

English

That tawny one will uplift my body from there, or what use is this to me? I will be peaceful without obstacles.

हिन्दी

वह भूरा मेरा शरीर वहाँ से उठाएगा, या इससे मुझे क्या लाभ? मैं बाधा रहित शांत हो जाऊँगा।

निर्वामि स्वं पदं यामि कोऽर्थो मे देहलीलया । इति संचिन्त्य मनसा वीतहव्यो महामते || ११ ||

nirvāmi svaṃ padaṃ yāmi ko'rtho me dehalīlayā | iti saṃcintya manasā vītahavyo mahāmate || 11 ||

English

I will attain my own abode, what is the use of this bodily play? Thus thinking in the mind, O great sage, free from desire.

हिन्दी

मैं अपने स्थान को प्राप्त होऊंगा, इस शरीर के खेल से क्या लाभ? ऐसा सोचकर मन में, हे महान मुनि, इच्छा से मुक्त।

तूष्णीं स्थित्वा क्षणं भूयश्चिन्तयामास भूतले । उपादेयो हि देहस्य न मे त्यागो न संश्रयः || १२ ||

tūṣṇīṃ sthitvā kṣaṇaṃ bhūyaścintayāmāsa bhūtale | upādeyo hi dehasya na me tyāgo na saṃśrayaḥ || 12 ||

English

Remaining silent for a moment, he thought again on the earth. Indeed, the body should be accepted, neither should it be abandoned nor should it be taken refuge in.

हिन्दी

एक क्षण के लिए चुप रहकर, उसने पृथ्वी पर फिर से सोचा। वास्तव में, शरीर को स्वीकार करना चाहिए, न तो इसे छोड़ना चाहिए और न ही इसमें शरण लेनी चाहिए।

यादृशो देहसंत्यागस्तादृशो देहसंश्रयः । तद्यावदस्ति देहोऽयं न यावदणुतां गतः || १३ ||

yādṛśo dehasaṃtyāgastādṛśo dehasaṃśrayaḥ | tadyāvadasti deho'yaṃ na yāvadaṇutāṃ gataḥ || 13 ||

English

The abandonment of the body is similar to the acceptance of the body. As long as this body exists, it has not reached the state of an atom.

हिन्दी

शरीर का त्याग शरीर के स्वीकार के समान है। जब तक यह शरीर मौजूद है, यह परमाणु की अवस्था तक नहीं पहुंचा है।

तावदेनमुपारुह्य किंचित्प्रविहराम्यहम् । पिङ्गलेन शरीरं स्वमुद्धर्तुं तापनं वपुः || १४ ||

tāvadenamupāruhya kiṃcitpraviharāmyaham | piṅgalena śarīraṃ svamuddhartuṃ tāpanaṃ vapuḥ || 14 ||

English

Until then, I will enjoy it a little by ascending it. To uplift my own body, the tawny-colored body is for burning.

हिन्दी

तब तक, मैं इस पर चढ़कर थोड़ा आनंद लूंगा। अपने शरीर को उत्थान करने के लिए, भूरे रंग का शरीर जलाने के लिए है।

प्रविशामि नभःसंस्थं मुकुरं प्रतिबिम्बवत् । इत्यसौ मुनिरादित्यं विवेशानिलरूपधृक् || १५ ||

praviśāmi nabhaḥsaṃsthaṃ mukuraṃ pratibimbavat | ityasau munirādityaṃ viveśānilarūpadhṛk || 15 ||

English

I will enter the sky-dwelling pearl, reflecting like an image. Thus, that sage, assuming the form of wind, entered the sun.

हिन्दी

मैं आकाश में रहने वाली मोती में प्रवेश करूंगा, जो एक छवि की तरह प्रतिबिंबित होती है। इस प्रकार, वह मुनि, हवा का रूप धारण करके, सूर्य में प्रवेश किया।

पुर्यष्टकवपुर्भूत्वा भस्त्राखमिव चानलः | भगवान्मुनिरप्येनं हृद्गतं मुनिनायकम् || १६ ||

puryaṣṭakavapurbhūtvā bhastrākhamiva cānalaḥ | bhagavānmunirapyenaṃ hṛdgataṃ munināyakam || 16 ||

English

Having taken the form of a city, like a blazing fire, the divine sage, even though he was the leader of the sages, entered his heart.

हिन्दी

शहर के रूप में आकर, जैसे भड़कती आग, भगवान् मुनि भी इस हृदय में प्रवेश कर गए, जो मुनियों के नेता थे।

दृष्ट्वासौ चिन्तयन्कार्यं पौर्वापर्यमुदारधीः | विन्ध्यभूधरभूकोशमन्तर्मुनिकलेवरम् || १७ ||

dṛṣṭvāsau cintayan kāryaṃ paurvāparyamudāradhīḥ | vindhyabhūdhara bhūkośamantarmunikalevaram || 17 ||

English

Seeing this, he thought about the sequence of actions with a generous mind, the treasure of the earth within the Vindhya mountains.

हिन्दी

इसे देखकर, उसने उदार मन से कार्यों की क्रमबद्धता के बारे में सोचा, विन्ध्य पर्वतों के भीतर पृथ्वी का खजाना।

तृणोपलपरिच्छन्नं ददर्श गतसंविदम् | ऋषेश्चिकीर्षितं ज्ञात्वा भानुर्गगनमध्यगः || १८ ||

tṛṇopalaparicchannaṃ dadarśa gatasaṃvidam | ṛṣeścikīrṣitaṃ jñātvā bhānurgaganamadhyagaḥ || 18 ||

English

He saw the grass and stones covered, devoid of consciousness, knowing the sage's intention, the sun in the middle of the sky.

हिन्दी

उसने घास और पत्थरों से ढके हुए, चेतना से रहित, ऋषि के इरादे को जानते हुए, आकाश के मध्य में सूर्य देखा।

धरातो मुनिमुद्धर्तुमादिदेशाग्रगं गणम् | वीतहव्यमुनेः संवित्सा पुर्यष्टकरूपिणी || १९ ||

dharāto munimuddhartumādidēśāgragaṃ gaṇam | vītahavyamunēḥ saṃvitsā puryaṣṭakarūpiṇī || 19 ||

English

To uplift the sage from the earth, he ordered the foremost group, the consciousness of the sage without oblation, she in the form of the city.

हिन्दी

ऋषि को पृथ्वी से उठाने के लिए, उसने अग्रणी समूह को आदेश दिया, ऋषि की चेतना बिना हवन के, वह शहर के रूप में।

रविं वातमयी पूज्यं प्रणनामाशु चेतसा | भानुनाप्यभ्यनुज्ञातो मानपूर्वकमग्रगम् || २० ||

raviṃ vātamayī pūjyaṃ praṇanāmāśu cetasā | bhānunāpyabhyanujñāto mānapūrvakamagragam || 20 ||

English

She quickly bowed down to the worshipful sun, who is the essence of the wind, and was permitted by the sun with respect.

उसने तुरंत वायु के सार सूर्य को प्रणाम किया, जिसे पूजनीय माना जाता है, और सूर्य ने सम्मान के साथ उसे अनुमति दी।

विवेश पिङ्गलाकारं विन्ध्यकन्दरगामिनम् | पिङ्गलोऽसौ नभस्त्यक्त्वा कुञ्जकुञ्जरसुन्दरम् || २१ ||

viveśa piṅgalākāraṃ vindhyakandaragāminam | piṅgalo'sau nabhas tyaktvā kuñjakuñjarasundaram || 21 ||

English

He entered the beautiful cave of Vindhya, which was tawny in color. Leaving the sky, Pingala entered the beautiful grove.

उसने विन्ध्य की भूरी गुफा में प्रवेश किया| आकाश को छोड़कर पिंगल ने सुंदर कुंज में प्रवेश किया|

प्राप विन्ध्यवनं प्रावृण्मत्ताभ्राम्बरभासुरम् | उद्दधार धराकोशान्नखनिष्कृष्टभूतलः || २२ ||

prāpa vindhyavanaṃ prāvṛṇmattābhrāmbarabhāsuram | uddadhāra dharākośānnakhaniṣkṛṣṭabhūtalaḥ || 22 ||

English

He reached the Vindhya forest, which was shining like a dark cloud in the rainy season. He lifted the earth's treasures with his nails, scratching the ground.

हिन्दी

उसने विन्ध्य वन तक पहुंच गया, जो वर्षा ऋतु में काले बादल की तरह चमक रहा था| उसने अपने नाखूनों से खरोंचकर धरती के खजाने को उठाया|

कलेवरं मुनेः पङ्कान्मृणालमिव सारसः | मौनं पुर्यष्टकमथ स्वं विवेश कलेवरम् || २३ ||

kalevaraṃ muneḥ paṅkānmṛṇālamiva sārasaḥ | maunaṃ puryaṣṭakamatha svaṃ viveśa kalevaram || 23 ||

English

Like a crane lifting a lotus stem from the mud, the sage lifted his body from the mud. Then he entered his own body, which was like a silent city.

हिन्दी

जैसे सारस बगुला कीचड़ से कमल की डंठल उठाता है, वैसे ही मुनि ने अपने शरीर को कीचड़ से उठाया| फिर उसने अपने शरीर में प्रवेश किया, जो एक मौन नगर की तरह था|

नभस्तलपरिभ्रान्तो विहङ्गम इवालयम् | प्रणेमतुर्मिथो मूर्तवीतहव्यनभश्चरौ || २४ ||

nabhastalaparibhrānto vihaṅgama ivālayam | praṇematurmitho mūrtavītahavyanabhaścarau || 24 ||

English

Wandering in the sky like a bird to its nest, they both bowed down to each other, the embodied and the disembodied.

आकाश में घूमते हुए जैसे पक्षी अपने घोंसले में लौटता है, वैसे ही दोनों ने एक-दूसरे को प्रणाम किया, शरीरधारी और शरीरहीन|

बभूवतुः स्वकार्यैकतत्परौ तेजसां निधी | जगाम पिङ्गलो व्योम मुनिश्च विमलं सरः || २५ ||

babhūvatuḥ svakāryaikatatparau tejasāṃ nidhī | jagāma piṅgalo vyoma muniśca vimalaṃ saraḥ || 25 ||

English

They became devoted to their respective duties, the repositories of brilliance. Pingala went to the sky, and the sage went to the pure lake.

हिन्दी

वे अपने-अपने कार्यों में तत्पर हो गए, चमक के भंडार| पिंगल आकाश की ओर चला गया, और मुनि शुद्ध सरोवर की ओर चला गया|

तारकाकारकुमुदं सूर्यांशुकवदाकृति | वीतहव्यो ममज्जाशु सरस्युद्भिन्नपङ्कजे || २६ ||

tārakākārakumudaṃ sūryāṃśukavadākṛti | vītahavyo mamajjāśu sarasyudbhinnapaṅkaje || 26 ||

English

The lotus, which is like a star, has a form like the rays of the sun. Having performed the ritual, I quickly immersed myself in the lake where the lotus had bloomed.

हिन्दी

तारकाकार कमल सूर्य की किरणों के समान आकृति वाला है| यज्ञ करने के बाद मैं जल्दी ही उस सरोवर में डूब गया जहां कमल खिला हुआ था|| 26 ||

पङ्कपल्वललीलान्ते वने कलभको यथा | तत्र स्नात्वा जपं कृत्वा पूजयित्वा दिवाकरम् | मनोभूषितया तन्वा पूर्ववत्पुनराबभौ || २७ ||

paṅkapalvalalīlānte vane kalabhako yathā | tatra snātvā japaṃ kṛtvā pūjayitvā divākaram | manobhūṣitayā tanvā pūrvavatpunarābabhau || 27 ||

English

Like a young elephant in the forest at the end of its play in the mud, there he bathed, performed japa, and worshipped the sun. Adorned with a mind, he shone again as before.

हिन्दी

जैसे एक छोटा हाथी वन में कीचड़ में खेलने के बाद, वहां उसने स्नान किया, जप किया, और सूर्य की पूजा की| मन से सुसज्जित होकर वह पहले की तरह फिर से चमक उठा|| 27 ||

मैत्र्या तया समतया परया च शान्त्या सत्प्रज्ञया मुदितया कृपया श्रिया च | युक्तो मुनिः सकलसङ्गविमुक्तचेता विन्ध्ये सरित्तटगतो दिनमेव रेमे || २८ ||

maitryā tayā samatayā parayā ca śāntyā satprajñayā muditayā kṛpayā śriyā ca | yukto muniḥ sakalasaṅgavimuktacetā vindhye sarittatagato dinameva reme || 28 ||

English

Endowed with friendship, equanimity, supreme peace, true wisdom, joy, compassion, and prosperity, the sage, with a mind free from all attachments, spent the day on the banks of the river in the Vindhya mountains.

मित्रता, समता, परम शांति, सत्य ज्ञान, आनंद, कृपा और समृद्धि से संपन्न, सब आसक्तियों से मुक्त मन वाला मुनि विन्ध्य पर्वत की नदी के तट पर दिन बिताया|| 28 ||
