śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | garjantamatisaṃrabdhaṃ suralokamathārihā | uvāca mādhavo vākyaṃ śikhivṛndamivāmbudaḥ || 1 ||
Vasishtha said: Then, the enemy-slayer Madhava spoke words to the extremely enraged and roaring Prahlada, like a cloud to a flock of peacocks.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: तब शत्रु-संहारक माधव ने अति क्रोधित और गर्जन करते हुए प्रह्लाद से कहा, जैसे बादल मोरों के झुंड से कहता है।
श्रीभगवानुवाच | विबुधा मा विषण्णाः स्थ प्रह्लादो भक्तिमानिति | पाश्चात्यं जन्म तस्येदं मोक्षार्होऽसावरिंदमः || २ ||
śrībhagavānuvāca | vibudhā mā viṣaṇṇāḥ stha prahlādo bhaktimāniti | pāścātyaṃ janma tasyedaṃ mokṣārhosāvarindamaḥ || 2 ||
The Lord said: O celestial beings, do not be despondent. Prahlada is a devotee and this western birth of his is worthy of liberation, O slayer of enemies.
भगवान ने कहा: हे देवताओं, निराश न हों। प्रह्लाद एक भक्त है और उसका यह पश्चिमी जन्म मोक्ष के योग्य है, हे शत्रु-संहारक।
अत उत्तरमेतेन गर्भता दनुजन्मना | न कर्तव्या प्रदग्धेन बीजेनेवाङ्कुरक्रिया || ३ ||
ata uttarameten garbhatā danujanmanā | na kartavyā pradagdhena bījenaivāṅkurakriyā || 3 ||
Therefore, it is not appropriate to consider him as a demon by birth, just as a burnt seed cannot produce a sprout.
इसलिए, उसे दानव जन्म के रूप में सोचना उचित नहीं है, जैसे जले हुए बीज से अंकुर नहीं निकलता।
गुणवान्निर्गुणो जात इत्यनर्थक्रमं विदुः | निर्गुणो गुणवाञ्जात इत्याहुः सिद्धिदं क्रमम् || ४ ||
guṇavān nirguṇo jāta ityanarthakramaṃ viduḥ | nirguṇo guṇavāñjāta ityāhuḥ siddhidam kramaṃ || 4 ||
Those who say that a virtuous person is born without qualities are ignorant of the proper order. Those who say that a person without qualities is born virtuous speak of the order that leads to perfection.
जो कहते हैं कि गुणवान व्यक्ति निर्गुण होकर जन्म लेता है, वे उचित क्रम को नहीं जानते। जो कहते हैं कि निर्गुण व्यक्ति गुणवान होकर जन्म लेता है, वे सिद्धि के क्रम की बात करते हैं।
आत्मीयानि विचित्राणि भुवनान्यमरोत्तमाः | प्रयात नासुखायैषा प्राह्लादी गुणितेह वः || ५ ||
ātmīyāni vicitrāṇi bhuvanānyamarottamāḥ | prayāta nāsukhāyaiṣā prāhlādī guṇiteha vaḥ || 5 ||
O best of the immortals, go to your respective wonderful abodes. This Prahlada is not for your suffering here.
हे अमरों के श्रेष्ठ, अपने-अपने अद्भुत लोकों को जाओ। यह प्रह्लाद यहाँ तुम्हारे दुःख के लिए नहीं है।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | इत्युक्त्वा विबुधांस्तत्र क्षीरोदार्णववीचिषु | अन्तर्धानं ययौ देवस्तटतापिच्छगुच्छवत् || ६ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | ityuktvā vibudhāṃstatra kṣīrodārṇavavīciṣu | antardhānaṃ yayau devastataṭāpicchaguccchavat || 6 ||
Shri Vasishtha said: Having said this, the god disappeared in the waves of the ocean of milk, like a small bird hiding in the reeds.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: ऐसा कहकर, देवता दूध के समुद्र की लहरों में अंतर्धान हो गए, जैसे एक छोटा पक्षी नरकुल में छिप जाता है।
सोऽपि संपूजितहरिः सुरौघो व्रजदम्बरम् | पुनर्मन्दरनिर्धूतात्कणजालमिवार्णवात् || ७ ||
soapi saṃpūjitahariḥ suraugho vrajadambaram | punarmandaranirdhūtātkaṇajālamivārṇavāt || 7 ||
Even he, who was worshipped by Hari, the host of gods proceeded to the cowherd village, like the ocean freed from the foam churned by Mandara.
वह भी, जिसे हरि ने पूजा की थी, देवताओं का समूह गोकुल की ओर बढ़ा, जैसे मंदराचल से मंथित फेन से मुक्त समुद्र।
प्रह्लादं प्रति गीर्वाणास्ततः स्निग्धत्वमाययुः | महान्तो यत्र नोद्विग्नास्तत्र विश्वासवन्मनः || ८ ||
prahlādaṃ prati gīrvāṇāstatataḥ snigddhatvamāyayuḥ | mahānto yatra noudvignāstatra viśvāsavanmanaḥ || 8 ||
Towards Prahlada, the great sages, who were not disturbed, had affectionate feelings, where there is trust.
प्रह्लाद की ओर, जहाँ विश्वास होता है, वहाँ महान ऋषि, जो उद्विग्न नहीं थे, स्नेहपूर्ण भावना रखते थे।
प्रत्यहं पूजयामास देवदेवं जनार्दनम् | मनसा कर्मणा वाचा प्रह्लादो भक्तिमानिति || ९ ||
pratyahaṃ pūjayāmāsa devadevaṃ janārdanam | manasā karmaṇā vācā prahlādo bhaktimāniti || 9 ||
Every day, Prahlada, who was devoted, worshipped the god of gods, Janardana, with mind, actions, and speech.
प्रतिदिन, भक्त प्रह्लाद देवों के देव, जनार्दन की मन, कर्म और वाणी से पूजा करते थे।
अथ पूजापरस्यास्य समवर्धन्त कालतः | विवेकानन्दवैराग्यविभवप्रमुखा गुणाः || १० ||
atha pūjāparasyāsya samavardhanta kālataḥ | vivekānandavairāgyavibhavapramukhā guṇāḥ || 10 ||
Then, over time, the qualities of discrimination, bliss, detachment, and prosperity increased in him who was engaged in worship.
तब, समय के साथ, पूजा में लगे हुए उसमें विवेक, आनंद, वैराग्य और समृद्धि जैसे गुण बढ़े।
नाभ्यनन्ददसौ भोगपूगं शुष्कमिव द्रुमम्| न चारमत कान्तासु मृगो लोकमहीष्विव|| ११||
nābhyanandadasau bhogapūgaṃ śuṣkamiva drumaṃ| na cāramata kāntāsu mṛgo lokamahīṣviva|| 11||
He did not rejoice in the pleasures of the senses, as if they were a dry tree| Nor did he find delight in beautiful women, like a deer in the world|| 11||
उसने इन्द्रिय सुखों में आनन्द नहीं लिया, जैसे वे एक सूखा पेड़ हों| न ही उसने सुंदर महिलाओं में आनंद लिया, जैसे एक मृग दुनिया में|| ११||
न रेमे लोकचर्यासु शास्त्रार्थकथनादृते| न जायते रतिस्तस्य दृश्ये स्थल इवाजिनी|| १२||
na reme lokacaryāsu śāstrārthakathanaādṛte| na jāyate ratistasya dṛśye sthala ivājinī|| 12||
He did not find pleasure in worldly activities, except for the discussion of scriptural meanings| Nor did he find delight in visible objects, like a snake in a picture|| 12||
उसने संसारिक गतिविधियों में आनंद नहीं लिया, शास्त्रों के अर्थों की चर्चा के अलावा| न ही उसने दृश्य वस्तुओं में आनंद लिया, जैसे चित्र में एक सांप|| १२||
न विशश्राम चेतोऽस्य भोगरोगानुरञ्जने| मुक्ताफलमसंश्लिष्टं मुक्ताफल इवामले|| १३||
na viśaśrāma cetosya bhogarogānurañjane| muktāphalamasanśliṣṭaṃ muktāphala ivāmale|| 13||
His mind did not find rest in the enjoyment of sensual pleasures, like a pearl that is not touched by the disease of enjoyment|| 13||
उसका मन इन्द्रिय सुखों के आनंद में विश्राम नहीं पाता, जैसे एक मोती जो भोग के रोग से अछूता है|| १३||
त्यक्तभोगादिकलनं विश्रान्तिमनुपागतम्| चेतः केवलमस्यासीद्दोलायामिव योजितम्|| १४||
tyaktabhogādikalanaṃ viśrāntimanupāgatam| ceto kevalamasyaāsīddolāyāmiva yojitam|| 14||
Having abandoned the calculation of sensual pleasures, his mind found rest, like a swing that is set in motion|| 14||
इन्द्रिय सुखों के हिसाब को छोड़कर, उसका मन विश्राम पाया, जैसे एक झूला जो चलाया जाता है|| १४||
प्राह्लादीं तां स्थितिं विष्णुर्देवः क्षीरोदमन्दिरात्| विवेद सर्वगतया धिया परमकान्तया|| १५||
prāhlādīṃ tāṃ sthitim viṣṇurdevaḥ kṣīrodamandirāt| viveda sarvagatayā dhiyā paramakāntayā|| 15||
Lord Vishnu, from his abode in the ocean of milk, knew that state of Prahlada with his all-pervading and supreme intelligence|| 15||
भगवान विष्णु ने अपने क्षीर सागर के निवास से, अपने सर्वव्यापी और परम बुद्धि से प्रह्लाद की उस स्थिति को जाना|| १५||
अथ पातालमार्गेण विष्णुराह्लादिताग्रतः | पूजादेवगृहं तस्य प्रह्लादस्य समाययौ || १६ ||
atha pātālamārgeṇa viṣṇurāhlāditāgrataḥ | pūjādevagṛhaṃ tasya prahlādasya samāyayau || 16 ||
Then, Lord Vishnu, who was delighted with Prahlada, proceeded through the path of the underworld to the temple of Prahlada.
तब, प्रह्लाद से प्रसन्न होकर भगवान विष्णु पाताल मार्ग से प्रह्लाद के पूजा गृह तक पहुंचे।
विज्ञायाभ्यागतं देवं पूजया द्विगुणेद्धया | दैत्येन्द्रः पुण्डरीकाक्षमादरात्पर्यपूजयत् || १७ ||
vijñāyābhyāgataṃ devaṃ pūjayā dviguṇeddhayā | daityendraḥ puṇḍarīkākṣamādarātparyapūjayat || 17 ||
Knowing that the Lord had arrived, the king of the demons, with doubled devotion, worshipped Lord Vishnu, who has lotus-like eyes, with great respect.
जानकर कि भगवान आ गए हैं, दैत्यों के राजा ने दोगुनी भक्ति से कमल नयन भगवान विष्णु की बड़े सम्मान से पूजा की।
पूजागृहगतं देवं प्रत्यक्षावस्थितं हरिम् | प्रह्लादः परमप्रीतो गिरा तुष्टाव पुष्टया || १८ ||
pūjāgṛhagataṃ devaṃ pratyakṣāvasthitaṃ harim | prahlādaḥ paramaprīto girā tuṣṭāva puṣṭayā || 18 ||
Prahlada, being extremely pleased, praised Lord Vishnu, who was present in the temple, with joyful words.
प्रह्लाद ने अत्यंत प्रसन्न होकर मंदिर में उपस्थित भगवान विष्णु की आनंदपूर्वक शब्दों में स्तुति की।
प्रह्लाद उवाच | त्रिभुवनभवनाभिरामकोशं सकलकलङ्कहरं परं प्रकाशम् | अशरणशरणं शरण्यमीशं हरिमजमच्युतमीश्वरं प्रपद्ये || १९ ||
prahlāda uvāca | tribhuvanabhavanābhirāmakośaṃ sakalakalaṅkaharaṃ paraṃ prakāśam | aśaraṇaśaraṇaṃ śaraṇyamīśaṃ harimajamacyutamīśvaraṃ prapadye || 19 ||
Prahlada said: I take refuge in Lord Vishnu, who is the delight of the three worlds, the destroyer of all blemishes, the supreme light, the refuge of the refuge-less, the protector, the unborn, the imperishable, and the Lord.
प्रह्लाद ने कहा: मैं उस भगवान विष्णु की शरण लेता हूं, जो तीनों लोकों के आनंद का भंडार हैं, सभी दोषों का नाश करने वाले हैं, परम प्रकाश हैं, आश्रयहीनों के आश्रय हैं, रक्षक हैं, अजन्मा हैं, अविनाशी हैं, और ईश्वर हैं।
कुवलयदलनीलसंनिकाशं शरदमलाम्बरकोटरोपमानम् | भ्रमरतिमिरकज्जलाञ्जनाभं सरसिजचक्रगदाधरं प्रपद्ये || २० ||
kuvalayadalanīlasannikāśaṃ śaradamalāmbarakoṭaropamānam | bhramaratimirakajjalāñjanābhaṃ sarasijacakragadādharaṃ prapadye || 20 ||
I take refuge in Lord Vishnu, who is as blue as the petals of a blue lotus, who is as pure as the autumn sky, who is as dark as a swarm of bees, and who holds the discus and the mace.
मैं उस भगवान विष्णु की शरण लेता हूं, जो नील कमल के पंखुड़ियों के समान नीले हैं, जो शरद ऋतु के निर्मल आकाश के समान शुद्ध हैं, जो भ्रमरों के झुंड के समान काले हैं, और जो चक्र और गदा धारण करते हैं।
विमलमलिकलापकोमलाङ्गं सितदलपङ्कजकुड्मलाभशङ्खम् | श्रुतिरणितविरञ्चिचञ्चरीकं स्वहृदयपद्मदलाश्रयं प्रपद्ये || २१ ||
vimalamalikalāpakomalāṅgaṃ sitadalapaṅkajakuḍmalābhaśaṅkham | śrutiraṇitavirañcicañcarīkaṃ svahṛdayapadmadalāśrayaṃ prapadye || 21 ||
I take refuge in the one who has a pure, tender body adorned with white lotus buds, who is like a conch shell, whose movements are like the melodious sound of the Vedas, and who resides in the lotus of my heart.
मैं उसकी शरण लेता हूँ जिसका शरीर शुद्ध, कोमल और श्वेत कमल के कली से सुशोभित है, जो शंख के समान है, जिसकी चाल वेदों की मधुर ध्वनि के समान है, और जो मेरे हृदय कमल में निवास करता है।
सितनखगणतारकावकीर्णं स्मितधवलाननपीवरेन्दुबिम्बम् | हृदयमणिमरीचिजालगङ्गं हरिशरदम्बरमाततं प्रपद्ये || २२ ||
sitanakhagaṇatārakāvakīrṇaṃ smitadhavalānanapīvarendubimbaṃ | hṛdayamaṇimarīcijālagaggaṃ harīśaradambaramātataṃ prapadye || 22 ||
I take refuge in the one whose nails are adorned with stars, whose face is bright and smiling like the full moon, whose heart is like a jewel radiating rays, and who is clad in the beautiful garments of autumn.
मैं उसकी शरण लेता हूँ जिसके नख तारों से सुशोभित हैं, जिसका मुख मुस्कान से उज्ज्वल और पूर्ण चंद्रमा के समान है, जिसका हृदय मणि के समान किरणों से प्रकाशित है, और जो शरद ऋतु के सुंदर वस्त्रों से परिधान किया हुआ है।
अविरलकृतसृष्टिसर्वलीनं सततमजातमवर्धनं विशालम् | गुणशतजरठाभिजातदेहं तरुदलशायिनमर्भकं प्रपद्ये || २३ ||
aviralakṛtasṛṣṭisarvalīnaṃ satatamajātamavardhanaṃ viśālaṃ | guṇaśatajaraṭhābhijātadehaṃ tarudalaśāyinamarbhakaṃ prapadye || 23 ||
I take refuge in the one who is the creator of all, who is ever-present and unborn, who nurtures all, who is vast, whose body is adorned with a hundred virtues, and who rests on the leaf of a tree like a child.
मैं उसकी शरण लेता हूँ जो सबका सृष्टिकर्ता है, जो सदा विद्यमान और अजन्मा है, जो सबका पालन करता है, जो विशाल है, जिसका शरीर सौ गुणों से सुशोभित है, और जो वृक्ष के पत्ते पर बच्चे की तरह विश्राम करता है।
नवविकसितपद्मरेणुगौरं स्फुटकमलावपुषा विभूषिताङ्गम् | दिनशमसमयारुणाङ्गरागं कनकनिभाम्बरसुन्दरं प्रपद्ये || २४ ||
navavikasitapadmareṇugauram sphuṭakamalāvapuṣā vibhūṣitāṅgam | dinaśamasa mayāruṇāṅgarāgaṃ kanakanibhāmbarasundaraṃ prapadye || 24 ||
I take refuge in the one whose complexion is as fair as the newly bloomed lotus pollen, whose body is adorned with clear lotus flowers, whose body is reddish like the evening twilight, and who is beautiful with golden-like garments.
मैं उसकी शरण लेता हूँ जिसका रंग नवीन खिले कमल के पराग के समान गौर है, जिसका शरीर स्पष्ट कमल फूलों से सुशोभित है, जिसका शरीर संध्या काल की लालिमा के समान है, और जो सुनहरे वस्त्रों से सुंदर है।
दितिसुतनलिनीतुषारपातं सुरनलिनीसततोदितार्कबिम्बम् | कमलजनलिनीजलावपूरं हृदि नलिनीनिलयं विभुं प्रपद्ये || २५ ||
diti sutanalinītuṣārapātaṃ suranalinīsatatoditārkabimbaṃ | kamalajanalinījalāvapūraṃ hṛdi nalinīnilayaṃ vibhuṃ prapadye || 25 ||
I take refuge in the one who is like the cool moonlight, who is always praised by the gods, who is like the sun's orb, who is filled with the water of the lotus pond, and who resides in the lotus of the heart.
मैं उसकी शरण लेता हूँ जो ठंडे चाँदनी के समान है, जो देवताओं द्वारा सदा प्रशंसित है, जो सूर्य के मंडल के समान है, जो कमल तालाब के जल से भरा हुआ है, और जो हृदय कमल में निवास करता है।
त्रिभुवननलिनीसितारविन्दं तिमिरसमानविमोहदीपमग्र्यम् | स्फुटतरमजडं चिदात्मतत्त्वं जगदखिलार्तिहरं हरिं प्रपद्ये || २६ ||
tribhuvananalinīsitāravindaṃ timirasamānavimohadīpamagryaṃ | sphuṭataramajaḍaṃ cidātmatattvaṃ jagadakhilārtiharaṃ hariṃ prapadye || 26 ||
I take refuge in Hari, who is the lotus in the lake of the three worlds, the lamp that dispels the darkness of delusion, the supreme, the most evident, the non-dual, the essence of consciousness, and the remover of all sufferings of the world.
मैं उस हरि की शरण लेता हूँ जो तीनों लोकों के सरोवर में कमल है, भ्रम के अंधकार को दूर करने वाला दीपक है, सर्वोत्तम है, सबसे स्पष्ट है, अद्वैत है, चेतना का तत्त्व है, और संसार के सभी दुःखों को दूर करने वाला है।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | इति गुणबहुलाभिर्वाग्भिरभ्यर्चितोऽसौ हरिरसुरविनाशः श्रीनिषण्णांसदेशः | जलद इव मयूरं प्रीतिमान्प्रीयमाणं कुवलयदलनीलः प्रत्युवाचासुरेन्द्रम् || २७ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | iti guṇabahulābhirvāgbhirabhyarcito'sau harirasuravināśaḥ śrīniṣaṇṇāṃsadeśaḥ | jalada iva mayūraṃ prītimānpriyamāṇaṃ kuvalayadalanīlaḥ pratyuvācāsurendram || 27 ||
Vasishtha said: Thus, Hari, the destroyer of demons, who is praised with many virtuous words, the abode of Lakshmi, like a cloud pleased with a peacock, the blue-lotus-petaled one, replied to the king of demons.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: इस प्रकार, बहुत से गुणों वाली वाणी से पूजित हरि, असुरों का नाश करने वाला, लक्ष्मी का निवास, मेघ की तरह मोर से प्रसन्न, नील कमल के पंखों वाला, असुरों के राजा को उत्तर दिया।
