śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | iti cintayatastasya śukrasya pituregrataḥ | jagāmātitaraṃ kālo bahusaṃvatsarātmakaḥ || 1 ||
Vasishtha said: While Shukra was thinking thus in front of his father, a very long period of time passed, consisting of many years.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: जब शुक्र अपने पिता के सामने ऐसा सोच रहा था, तब एक बहुत लंबा समय बीत गया, जो कई वर्षों का था।
अथ कालेन महता पवनातपजर्जरः । कायस्तस्य पपातोर्व्यां छिन्नमूल इव द्रुमः || २ ||
atha kālena mahatā pavanātapajarjaraḥ | kāyastasya papātourvyāṃ chinnamūla iva drumaḥ || 2 ||
Then, after a long time, his body, worn out by wind, heat, and old age, fell to the ground like a tree with its roots cut off.
फिर, एक लंबे समय के बाद, उसका शरीर, जो हवा, गर्मी और बुढ़ापे से थक गया था, कटे हुए जड़ वाले पेड़ की तरह धरती पर गिर पड़ा।
मनस्तु चञ्चलाभोगं तासु तासु दशासु च । बभ्रामातिविचित्रासु वनराजिष्विवैणकः || ३ ||
manastu cañcalābhogaṃ tāsu tāsu daśāsu ca | babhrāmātivicitrāsu vanarājiṣvivaiaṇakaḥ || 3 ||
However, his mind wandered restlessly in various states, like a deer in the intricate paths of the forest.
फिर भी, उसका मन विभिन्न अवस्थाओं में बेचैनी से भटकता रहा, जैसे जंगल की जटिल राहों में हिरण।
भ्रान्तमुद्भ्रान्तमभितश्चक्रार्पितमिवाकुलम् । मनस्तस्य विशश्राम समङ्गासरितस्तटे || ४ ||
bhrāntamudbhrāntamabhitaścakrārpitamivākulam | manastasya viśaśrāma samāṅgāsaritastataḥ || 4 ||
His mind, which was confused and agitated, finally found rest on the bank of the river Samanga, as if it had been placed in a circle.
उसका मन, जो भ्रमित और उद्विग्न था, अंततः समंगा नदी के तट पर विश्राम पाया, जैसे कि उसे एक चक्र में रखा गया हो।
अनन्तवृत्तान्तघनां पेलवां सुदृढामपि । तां संसृतिदशां शुक्रो विदेहोऽनुभवन्स्थितः || ५ ||
anantavṛttāntaghanāṃ pelavāṃ sudṛḍhāmapi | tāṃ saṃsṛtidśāṃ śukro videho'nubhavansthitaḥ || 5 ||
Shukra, who had transcended the body, experienced that state of transmigration, which was dense with endless stories, feeble, and yet very firm.
शुक्र, जिसने शरीर को पार कर लिया था, उसने उस पुनर्जन्म की अवस्था का अनुभव किया, जो अनंत कहानियों से भरी हुई, दुर्बल, और फिर भी बहुत मजबूत थी।
मन्दराचलसानुस्था सा तनुस्तस्य धीमतः | तापप्रसरसंशुष्का चर्मशेषा बभूव ह || ६ ||
mandarācalasānusthā sā tanustasya dhīmataḥ | tāpaprasarasaṃśuṣkā carmaśeṣā babhūva ha || 6 ||
That body of the wise one, situated on the slopes of Mandara Mountain, became dried up by the heat and reduced to mere skin.
वह शरीर बुद्धिमान का, जो मन्दराचल की चोटी पर स्थित था, ताप से सूख गया और सिर्फ चर्म शेष रह गया।
शरीररन्ध्रप्रवहद्वातसीत्काररूपया | चेष्टा दुःखक्षयानन्दात्काकल्येव प्रगायति || ७ ||
śarīrarandhrapravahadvātasītkārarūpayā | ceṣṭā duḥkhakṣayānandātkākalyeva pragāyati || 7 ||
The movements caused by the wind passing through the cavities of the body, resembling the sound of cold air, sing like a crow from the joy of the end of suffering.
शरीर की खाली जगहों से हवा के बहाव से उत्पन्न गतिविधियाँ, ठंडी हवा की आवाज की तरह, दुःख के अंत से आनंद के कारण कौए की तरह गाती हैं।
मनोवराकमवटे लुठितं भवभूमिषु | हसतीवेति शुभ्राभ्रसितया दन्तमालया || ८ ||
manovarākamavaṭe luṭhitaṃ bhavabhūmiṣu | hasatīveti śubhrābhraśitayā dantamālayā || 8 ||
In the realms of existence, the mind is like a monkey, restless and wandering, and it seems to laugh with a string of teeth, white like a bright cloud.
अस्तित्व की भूमियों में, मन एक बंदर की तरह है, बेचैन और भटकता हुआ, और यह एक चमकीले बादल की तरह सफेद दांतों की माला के साथ हँसता प्रतीत होता है।
दर्शयन्ती जगच्छून्यं वपुरक्ष्णोरकृत्रिमम् | मुखारण्यजरत्कूपरूपया गर्तशोभया || ९ ||
darśayantī jagacchūnyaṃ vapurakṣṇorakṛtrimam | mukhāraṇyajaratkūparūpayā gartaśobhayā || 9 ||
Revealing the emptiness of the world, the body appears unreal, like a well in a deserted forest, with the beauty of a pit.
जगत की शून्यता दिखाते हुए, शरीर अकृत्रिम प्रतीत होता है, एक सुनसान जंगल में कूप की तरह, गर्त की सुंदरता के साथ।
तापोपतप्ता संसिक्ता वर्षाजलभरेण सा | प्रागनुस्मरणोल्लासमिव वाष्पं विमुञ्चति || १० ||
tāpopataptā saṃsiktā varṣājalabhareṇa sā | prāganusmaraṇollāsamiva vāṣpaṃ vimuñcati || 10 ||
Afflicted by heat and drenched by the downpour of rain, she sheds tears like the joy of remembering the past.
ताप से पीड़ित और वर्षा के पानी से भीगी, वह अतीत की स्मृति के आनंद की तरह आँसू बहाती है।
चन्द्रानिलविलासेन लुलिता वनभूमिषु | धारानिकरपातेन विनुन्ना जलदागमे || ११ ||
candrānilavilāsena lulitā vanabhūmiṣu | dhārānikarapātena vinunnā jaladāgame || 11 ||
The forest ground is swayed by the play of moonlight and breeze, and is bent by the downpour of rain clouds.
चन्द्रमा और हवा के विलास से वन की भूमि लुलित हो जाती है, और बारिश की धाराओं से विनुन्न हो जाती है।
प्रावृण्निर्झररूपेण प्लुता गिरिनदीतटे | पांशुना पवनोत्थेन दुष्कृतेनेव रूषिता || १२ ||
prāvṛṇnirjhararūpeṇa plutā girinadītaṭe | pāṃśunā pavanotthena duṣkṛteneva rūṣitā || 12 ||
The riverbank is flooded by the rainwater, and the dust raised by the wind irritates like a sin.
बारिश के पानी से नदी का किनारा भर जाता है, और हवा से उठी धूल पाप की तरह चुभती है।
शुष्ककाष्ठवदालोला वातेषु कृतखाकृतिः | तारमारुतसीत्कारे वने तप इवास्थिता || १३ ||
śuṣkakāṣṭhavadālolā vāteṣu kṛtakhākṛtiḥ | tāramārutasītkāre vane tapa ivāsthitā || 13 ||
The forest appears like dry wood, swaying in the wind, and feels like penance in the cold breeze.
वन सूखे लकड़ी की तरह लगता है, हवा में डोलता है, और ठंडी हवा में तपस्या की तरह महसूस होता है।
वक्रा शुष्कान्त्रतन्त्री च भूतभाङ्कारकारिणी | अरण्यलक्ष्भीर्बाल्येव शून्या चर्ममयोदरी || १४ ||
vakrā śuṣkāntratantri ca bhūtabhāṅkārakāriṇī | araṇyalakṣbhīrbālyeva śūnyā carmamayodarī || 14 ||
The forest is crooked, with dry entrails, creating a ghostly appearance, and is empty like a child's leather toy.
वन टेढ़ा है, सूखे आंतड़ियों के साथ, भूत की तरह दिखता है, और एक बच्चे के चमड़े के खिलौने की तरह खाली है।
रागद्वेषविहीनत्वात्तस्य पुण्याश्रमस्य तु | महातपस्त्वाच्च भृगोर्न भुक्ता मृगपक्षिभिः || १५ ||
rāgadveṣavihīnatvāttasya puṇyāśramasya tu | mahātapastvācca bhṛgor na bhunktā mṛgapakṣibhiḥ || 15 ||
Due to the absence of attachment and hatred, and the great penance of Bhrigu, the animals and birds do not consume that holy hermitage.
आसक्ति और द्वेष के अभाव के कारण, और भृगु की महान तपस्या के कारण, जानवर और पक्षी उस पवित्र आश्रम को नहीं खाते।
यमनियमकृशीकृताङ्गयष्टिश्चरति तपः स्म भृगूद्वहस्य चेतः| तनुरथ पवनापनीतरक्ता चिरमलुठन्महतीषु सा शिलासु || १६ ||
yamanīyamakṛśīkṛtāṅgayaṣṭiścarati tapaḥ sma bhṛgūdvahasya cetaḥ| tanuratha pavanāpanītaraktā ciramaluṭhanmahatīṣu sā śilāsu || 16 ||
The one who practices self-control and discipline, with a lean body, wanders performing penance, remembering the mind of Bhrigu's descendant. The body, then deprived of blood by the wind, longs to roll on large rocks.
जो आत्म-नियंत्रण और अनुशासन का पालन करता है, पतले शरीर वाला, तपस्या करते हुए भटकता है, भृगु के वंशज के मन को याद करते हुए| फिर वायु से रक्तहीन शरीर, बड़े पत्थरों पर लुढ़कने की इच्छा करता है।
