Sthiti, Chapter 6स्थिति प्रकरण · सर्ग ६

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच । अथ तां मनसा ध्यायंस्तत्रैवामीलितेक्षणः । आरब्धवान्मनोराज्यमिदमेकः किलोशना ॥ १ ॥

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | atha tāṃ manasā dhyāyaṃstatraivāmīlitekṣaṇaḥ | ārabdhavānmanorājyamidamekaḥ kilośanā || 1 ||

Vasishtha said: Then, thinking of her in his mind, with his eyes shut right there, Ushanas, all alone, they say, began this kingdom of his mind.

वसिष्ठ जी बोले: फिर वहीं आँखें बंद करके, मन में उसी स्त्री को याद करते हुए, उशना ने अकेले ही, ऐसा कहते हैं, अपने मन में यह कल्पना की दुनिया बसानी शुरू कर दी।

एषा हि ललना व्योम्नि सहस्रनयनालये । संप्राप्तोऽयमहं स्वर्गमालोलसुरसुन्दरम् ॥ २ ॥

eṣā hi lalanā vyomni sahasranayanālaye | saṃprāpto'yamahaṃ svargamālolasurasundaram || 2 ||

This is that woman, in the sky, in the home of Indra, the thousand-eyed god. I have arrived at this heaven, beautiful with the gods moving about.

यह रही वह स्त्री, आकाश में, हज़ार आँखों वाले इंद्र के घर में। मैं इस स्वर्ग में आ पहुँचा हूँ, जो घूमते हुए देवताओं से सुंदर लग रहा है।

इमे ते मृदुमन्दारकुसुमोत्तंससुन्दराः । द्रवत्कनकनिष्यन्दविलासिवपुषः सुराः ॥ ३ ॥

ime te mṛdumandārakusumottamsasundarāḥ | dravatkanakaniṣyandavilāsivapuṣaḥ surāḥ || 3 ||

Here are the gods, beautiful with garlands of soft mandara flowers, their bodies shining like flowing molten gold.

ये रहे देवता, जो कोमल मंदार फूलों की मालाओं से सुंदर लग रहे हैं, और जिनके शरीर पिघले हुए सोने की तरह चमक रहे हैं।

इमास्ता लोचनोल्लासदृष्टनीलाब्जदृष्टयः । मुग्धहासविलासिन्यः कान्ता हरिणदृष्टयः ॥ ४ ॥

imāstā locanollāsadṛṣṭanīlābjadṛṣṭayaḥ | mugdhahāsavilāsinyaḥ kāntā hariṇadṛṣṭayaḥ || 4 ||

Here are those lovely women, their eyes shining like blue lotuses, playful with charming smiles, their eyes like a deer's.

ये रहीं वे सुंदर स्त्रियाँ, जिनकी आँखें नीले कमल जैसी चमक रही हैं, जो अपनी मोहक मुस्कान से चंचल हैं, और जिनकी आँखें हिरनी जैसी हैं।

इमे ते कौसुमोद्योता अन्योन्यप्रतिबिम्बिताः । विश्वरूपोपमाकारा मरुतो मत्तकाशिनः ॥ ५ ॥

ime te kausumodyotā anyonyapratibimbitāḥ | viśvarūpopamākārā maruto mattakāśinaḥ || 5 ||

Here are the wind-gods, shining with flowers, each one reflected in the others, their shapes like every form at once, looking as if drunk with joy.

ये रहे वायु के देवता, जो फूलों से चमक रहे हैं, जो एक-दूसरे में दिख रहे हैं, जिनके रूप हर आकार जैसे लगते हैं, और जो मानो खुशी में झूम रहे हैं।

ऐरावणकटामोदविरक्तमधुपश्रुताः । इमास्ताः काकलीगीता गीर्वाणगणगीतयः ॥ ६ ॥

airāvaṇakaṭāmodaviraktamadhupaśrutāḥ | imāstāḥ kākalīgītā gīrvāṇagaṇagītayaḥ || 6 ||

Here are the songs of the hosts of gods, sung in sweet, gentle voices, heard together with the hum of bees drawn only to the sweet smell flowing from the elephant Airavata's forehead.

ये रहे देवताओं के समूहों के गीत, जो मीठी, कोमल आवाज़ में गाए जा रहे हैं, और जिनके साथ उन भौंरों की गुनगुनाहट सुनाई देती है जो ऐरावत हाथी के माथे से बहती मीठी सुगंध पर ही मोहित हैं।

इयं सा कनकाम्भोजचलद्वैरिञ्चसारसा । मन्दाकिनीतटोद्यानविश्रान्तसुरनायका ॥ ७ ॥

iyam sā kanakāmbhojacaladvairiñcasārasā | mandākinītaṭodyānaviśrāntasuranāyakā || 7 ||

This is the Mandakini, the river of heaven, with golden lotuses and Brahma's cranes moving on it, where the lords of the gods rest in the gardens on its banks.

यह रही मंदाकिनी, स्वर्ग की नदी, जिस पर सोने के कमल और ब्रह्मा जी के सारस पक्षी तैर रहे हैं, और जिसके किनारे के बागों में देवताओं के प्रमुख विश्राम करते हैं।

एते ते यमचन्द्रेन्द्रसूर्यानलजलानिलाः । लोकपालास्तनुद्योतकीर्णदीप्तानलार्चिषः ॥ ८ ॥

ete te yamacandrendrasūryānalajalānilāḥ | lokapālāstanudyotakīrṇadīptānalārciṣaḥ || 8 ||

Here are the guardians of the directions - Yama, the Moon, Indra, the Sun, Fire, Water, and Wind - their bodies scattering light like the blazing flames of fire.

ये रहे दिशाओं के रक्षक — यम, चंद्रमा, इंद्र, सूर्य, अग्नि, जल और वायु — जिनके शरीर आग की धधकती लपटों की तरह चारों ओर रोशनी बिखेर रहे हैं।

अयं स रणवृत्तान्तहेतिकण्डूयिताननः । ऐरावणो रणे दन्तप्रोतदैत्येन्द्रमण्डलः ॥ ९ ॥

ayaṃ sa raṇavṛttāntahetikaṇḍūyitānanaḥ | airāvaṇo raṇe dantaprotadaityendramāṇḍalaḥ || 9 ||

This is Airavata, the elephant. His face still itches for the weapons of old battles, and in war he has pierced whole troops of demon kings on his tusks.

यह रहा ऐरावत हाथी। इसका मुँह अब भी पुरानी लड़ाइयों के हथियारों के लिए मचल रहा है, और युद्ध में इसने राक्षसों के राजाओं के पूरे-पूरे झुंड अपने दाँतों पर छेद दिए हैं।

इमे ते भूतलस्थानाद्व्योम्नि तारकतां गताः । वैमानिकाश्चरच्चारुचामीकरमयातपाः ॥ १० ॥

ime te bhūtalasthānādvyomni tārakatāṃ gatāḥ | vaimānikāścaraccārucāmīkaramayātapāḥ || 10 ||

Here are those who ride flying chariots. From their place on earth they have gone up to become like stars in the sky, moving with a beautiful golden glow.

ये रहे वे लोग जो उड़नेवाले रथों में चलते हैं। धरती पर अपनी जगह से वे आकाश में जाकर तारों जैसे बन गए हैं, और सुंदर सुनहरी चमक के साथ चल रहे हैं।

मेरूषलतलास्फालसीकराकीर्णदेवताः । एतास्ताः कीर्णमन्दारा गङ्गासलिलवीचयः ॥ ११ ॥

merūṣalatalāsphālasīkarākīrṇadevatāḥ | etāstāḥ kīrṇamandārā gaṅgāsalilavīcayaḥ || 11 ||

Here are the waves of the Ganga's waters, scattered with mandara flowers, that sprinkle the gods with fine spray where they strike against the slopes of Meru.

ये रहीं गंगा की लहरें, जिन पर मंदार के फूल बिखरे हैं, और जो मेरु पर्वत की ढलानों से टकराकर देवताओं पर बारीक फुहार बिखेर रही हैं।

एताः प्रसृतमन्दारमञ्जरीपुञ्जपिञ्जराः । दोलालोलाप्सरःश्रेण्यः शक्रोपवनवीथयः ॥ १२ ॥

etāḥ prasṛtamandāramañjarīpuñjapiñjarāḥ | dolālolāpsaraḥśreṇyaḥ śakropavanavīthayaḥ || 12 ||

Here are the lanes of Indra's garden, golden with clusters of spreading mandara blossoms, where rows of heavenly women swing on swings.

ये रही इंद्र के बाग की गलियाँ, जो फैले हुए मंदार फूलों के गुच्छों से सुनहरी दिख रही हैं, और जहाँ अप्सराओं की पंक्तियाँ झूलों पर झूल रही हैं।

इमे ते कुन्दमन्दारमकरन्दसुगन्धयः । चन्द्रांशुनिकराकाराः पारिजातसमीरणाः ॥ १३ ॥

ime te kundamandāramakarandasugandhayaḥ | candrāṃśunikarākārāḥ pārijātasamīraṇāḥ || 13 ||

Here is the breeze from the parijata tree, sweet with the smell of jasmine and mandara flowers, looking like a mass of moonbeams.

यह रही पारिजात वृक्ष की हवा, जो चमेली और मंदार के फूलों की खुशबू से मीठी है, और जो चाँदनी की किरणों के समूह जैसी दिखती है।

पुष्पकेसरनीहारपटवासरणोत्सुकैः । लताङ्गनागणैर्व्याप्तमिदं तन्नन्दनं वनम् ॥ १४ ॥

puṣpakesaranīhārapaṭavāsaraṇotsukaiḥ | latāṅganāgaṇairvyāptamidaṃ tannandanaṃ vanam || 14 ||

This is the Nandana garden. It is full of vine-nymphs enjoying the mist of flower pollen and its smell like scented powder.

यह रहा नंदन वन। यह उन बेल जैसी सुंदरियों से भरा है जो फूलों के पराग की धुंध और उसकी सुगंधित पाउडर जैसी खुशबू में मगन हैं।

कान्तगीतरवानन्दप्रनर्तितसुराङ्गनौ । इमौ तौ वल्लकीस्निग्धस्वरौ नारदतुम्बुरू ॥ १५ ॥

kāntagītaravānandapranartitasurāṅganau | imau tau vallakīsnigdhasvarau nāradatumburū || 15 ||

Here are Narada and Tumburu, the two whose sweet lute tones and joyful songs make the heavenly women dance.

ये रहे नारद और तुम्बुरु, वे दोनों जिनके वीणा के मीठे सुर और आनंददायक गीत देवांगनाओं को नचा देते हैं।

इमे ते पुण्यकर्तारो भूरिभूषणभूषिताः। व्योमन्युड्डीयमानेषु विमानेषु च संस्थिताः ॥ १६ ॥

ime te puṇyakartāro bhūribhūṣaṇabhūṣitāḥ| vyomanyuḍḍīyamāneṣu vimāneṣu ca saṃsthitāḥ || 16 ||

Here are those who did good deeds. Decked with many ornaments, they sit in flying chariots soaring through the sky.

ये रहे वे लोग जिन्होंने पुण्य के काम किए हैं। बहुत सारे गहनों से सजे हुए, वे आकाश में उड़ते हुए रथों में बैठे हैं।

मदमन्मथमत्ताङ्ग्य इमास्ताः सुरयोषितः। देवेश्वरं निषेवन्ते वनं वनलता इव ॥ १७ ॥

madamanmathamattāṅgya imāstāḥ surayoṣitaḥ| deveśvaraṃ niṣevante vanaṃ vanalatā iva || 17 ||

Here are the heavenly women, their bodies full of passion and desire. They serve Indra, the lord of the gods, the way forest vines cling to a tree.

ये रहीं देवताओं की स्त्रियाँ, जिनके शरीर काम और नशे से भरे हैं। वे देवताओं के स्वामी इंद्र की सेवा करती हैं, जैसे जंगल की बेलें किसी पेड़ से लिपटी रहती हैं।

इन्द्राश्मजालकुसुमाश्चिन्तामणिगुलुच्छकाः। कल्पवृक्षा इमे पक्वफलस्तबकदन्तुराः ॥ १८ ॥

indrāśmajālakusumāścintāmaṇigulucchakāḥ| kalpavṛkṣā ime pakvaphalastabakadanturāḥ || 18 ||

Here are the wish-granting trees, their flowers clusters of sapphires, their bunches wish-granting gems, thick with clusters of ripe fruit.

ये रहे कल्पवृक्ष, जिनके फूल नीलमणियों के गुच्छे हैं, जिनके गुच्छे चिंतामणि जैसे रत्न हैं, और जो पके फलों के गुच्छों से लदे हुए हैं।

इह तावदिमं शक्रमहमासनसंस्थितम्। द्वितीयमिव त्रैलोक्यस्रष्टारमभिवादये ॥ १९ ॥

iha tāvadimaṃ śakramahamāsanasansthitam| dvitīyamiva trailokyasraṣṭāramabhivādaye || 19 ||

Now here, I bow to this Indra, seated on his throne, as if he were a second creator of the three worlds.

अब यहाँ, मैं सिंहासन पर बैठे इस इंद्र को प्रणाम करता हूँ, मानो यह तीनों लोकों का दूसरा रचयिता हो।

इति संचिन्त्य शुक्रेण मनसैव शचीपतिः। तेनाभिवादितस्तत्र द्वितीय इव खे भृगुः ॥ २० ॥

iti saṃcintya śukreṇa manasaiva śacīpatiḥ| tenābhivāditastatra dvitīya iva khe bhṛguḥ || 20 ||

Thinking this to himself, Shukra bowed to Indra, the husband of Shachi, there in the sky, looking like a second Bhrigu.

यह मन ही मन सोचकर, शुक्र ने वहाँ आकाश में इंद्र को, जो शची के पति हैं, प्रणाम किया, और वे मानो दूसरे भृगु जैसे लग रहे थे।

अथ सादरमुत्थाय शुक्रः शक्रेण पूजितः । गृहीतहस्त आनीय समीपमुपवेशितः ॥ २१ ॥

atha sādaramutthāya śukraḥ śakreṇa pūjitaḥ | gṛhītahasta ānīya samīpamupaveśitaḥ || 21 ||

Then Indra rose with respect and honored Shukra. Taking him by the hand, he brought him close and sat him down beside himself.

फिर इंद्र आदर से उठे और शुक्र का सम्मान किया। उनका हाथ पकड़कर, वे उन्हें पास लाए और अपने पास बिठाया।

धन्यस्त्वदागमे नाथ स्वर्गोऽयं शुक्र शोभते । उष्यतां चिरमेवेह शक्र इत्थमुवाच तम् ॥ २२ ॥

dhanyastvadāgame nātha svargo'yaṃ śukra śobhate | uṣyatāṃ cirameveha śakra itthamuvāca tam || 22 ||

Blessed, O lord, is this heaven at your coming; it shines all the more, O Shukra. Stay here a long time. So Indra spoke to him.

हे स्वामी, आपके आने से यह स्वर्ग धन्य हो गया है; यह और भी चमक रहा है, हे शुक्र। यहाँ बहुत दिनों तक ठहरिए। इंद्र ने उनसे ऐसा ही कहा।

अथ तत्रोपविश्यासौ भार्गवः शोभिताननः । श्रियं जहार शशिनः सकलस्यामलस्य च ॥ २३ ॥

atha tatroparviśyāsau bhārgavaḥ śobhitānanaḥ | śriyaṃ jahāra śaśinaḥ sakalasyāmalasya ca || 23 ||

Then Shukra, the son of Bhrigu, sat down there, his face shining so bright it outdid the beauty of the full moon without a single mark on it.

फिर भृगु के पुत्र शुक्र वहाँ बैठ गए, उनका चेहरा इतना चमक रहा था कि उसने पूरे चाँद की शोभा को भी मात दे दी, जिस पर एक भी दाग़ नहीं था।

सकलसुरगणाभिवन्दितोऽसौ भृगुतनयः शतमन्युपार्श्वसंस्थः । चिरतरमतुलामवाप तुष्टिं नरपतिसत्तमलालनं बभूव ॥ २४ ॥

sakalasuragaṇābhivandito'sau bhṛgutanayaḥ śatamanyupārśvasaṃsthaḥ | cirataramatulāmavāpa tuṣṭiṃ narapatisattamalālanaṃ babhūva || 24 ||

Honored by all the hosts of gods, the son of Bhrigu sat beside Indra. For a very long time he felt a happiness that had no equal, and he lived cherished by the greatest of kings.

सभी देवताओं के समूहों से सम्मानित होकर, भृगु के पुत्र इंद्र के पास बैठे। बहुत लंबे समय तक उन्हें ऐसा सुख मिला जिसके बराबर कोई नहीं था, और वे सबसे बड़े राजा के दुलार में रहे।
