evamantarvihīnāsu vicitrāsvih sṛṣṭiṣu | vicitrotpattayo rāma brahmaṇo vividhā gatāḥ || 46 ||

English

In this way, O Rama, various creations of Brahma, devoid of internal differences, have diverse origins.

nidarśanārthaṃ sṛṣṭestu mayaikasya prajāpateḥ | bhavate kathitotpattirna tatra niyamaḥ kvacit || 47 ||

English

For the sake of illustration, O Rama, the creation of the one Prajapati (Brahma) is described here. There is no fixed rule in that.

manovijṛmbhaṇamidaṃ saṃsāra iti sammatam | sambodhanāya bhavataḥ sṛṣṭikrama udāhṛtaḥ || 48 ||

English

This manifestation of the mind is known as the world. For your enlightenment, the order of creation is described.

sāttvikīprabhṛtayo yāśca jātayaścetthamāgatāḥ | iti te kathanāya eṣa sṛṣṭikrama udāhṛtaḥ || 49 ||

English

Thus, the various types of beings, starting with the pure ones, have come into existence. Therefore, this order of creation is described to you.

punaḥ sṛṣṭiḥ punarnāśaḥ punarduḥkhaṃ punaḥ sukham | punarajñaḥ punastajjño bandhamokṣadṛśaḥ punaḥ || 50 ||

English

Again creation, again destruction, again sorrow, again happiness. Again ignorance, again knowledge, again the vision of bondage and liberation.

punaḥ sṛṣṭikarā'vītavītasnehadṛśaḥ punaḥ | dīpā iva kṛtālokāḥ praśāmyantyudbhavanti ca || 51 ||

English

Again, the creation is made, with affection and without affection, like lamps that are lit and extinguished, they calm down and arise again.

dehotpattau vināśe ca dīpānāṃ brahmaṇāmapi | kālenādhikatāṃ tyaktvā nāśe bhedo na kaścana || 52 ||

English

In the birth and destruction of bodies and lamps, even of the Brahman, there is no difference in destruction, having given up excessiveness in time.

punaḥ kṛtaṃ punastretā punaḥ sa dvāparaḥ kaliḥ | punarāvartate sarvaṃ cakrāvartatayā jagat || 53 ||

English

Again, the Krita, Treta, Dvapara, and Kali ages return, and the entire world revolves in a cyclical manner.

punarmanvantarārambhāḥ punaḥ kalpaparamparāḥ | punaḥ punaḥ kāryadaśāḥ prātaḥ prātaraho yathā || 54 ||

English

Again, the beginnings of Manvantaras, again the succession of Kalpas, again and again the states of action, like every morning and day.

lokālokakalākālakalanākalitāntaram | punaḥpunaridaṃ sarvaṃ na kiṃcana punaḥpunaḥ || 55 ||

English

The world and the universe, the divisions of time, and the subtle differences, all this again and again, there is nothing that is not repeated.

anāhate pratapte'yaḥpiṇḍe'nalakaṇā iva | ime bhāvāḥ sthitā nityaṃ cidākāśe svabhāvataḥ || 56 ||

English

In the unstruck and heated lump of iron, like sparks of fire, these states are eternally situated in the space of consciousness by nature.

kadācidanabhivyaktaṃ kadācidvyaktimāgatam | idamasti pare tattve sarvaṃ vṛkṣa ivārtavam || 57 ||

English

Sometimes unmanifested, sometimes manifested, this exists in the supreme reality like the seasons in a tree.

citspanda eva sarvātmā sarvadaivedṛśākṛtiḥ | yadasmājjāyate sargo dvīndutvamiva locanāt || 58 ||

English

The vibration of consciousness is the soul of all, always of the form of the seer. From it arises creation, like the reflection of the moon in the eye.

citaḥ sarvāḥ samāyānti saṃtatāḥ sṛṣṭidṛṣṭayaḥ | tatsthā evāpyatatsthābhāścandrādiva marīcayaḥ || 59 ||

English

All continuous views of creation merge into consciousness. They appear to be situated there, like the reflections of the moon in water.

na kadācana saṃsāraḥ kilāyaṃ rāma satsadā | sarvaśaktāvasaṃsāraśaktitā vidyate yataḥ || 60 ||

English

O Rama, this world is never without the power of consciousness, because the power of all-pervading consciousness exists.

na caivedaṃ kadācittu sādho jagadanīdṛśam | sarvaśaktau hi saṃsāraśaktitā vidyate yataḥ || 62 ||

English

O virtuous one, this world is never like this | Because the power of the world exists in the all-powerful || 62 ||

jñadṛṣṭyā sarvamevedaṃ brahmaiveti mahāmate | nāsti saṃsāra ityetadupapadyata eva ca || 63 ||

English

O great-minded one, from the perspective of knowledge, all this is indeed Brahman | Therefore, it is said that there is no world || 63 ||

ajñadṛṣṭyā tvavicchinnasaṃsāratvādanāratam | nityā saṃsāramāyeyaṃ mithyāpīhopapadyate || 64 ||

English

From the perspective of ignorance, due to the uninterrupted nature of the world, this illusory world appears to be eternal || 64 ||

anāratapatadrūpā diśo dṛṣṭā vinaśvarāḥ | vināśīdaṃ jagatsarvamiti kiṃ nopapadyate || 66 ||

English

The directions are seen as constantly changing and perishable | Why does it not seem that this entire world is perishable? || 66 ||

sarvatroditacandrārkā diśo dṛṣṭāḥ sthirācalāḥ | avināśi jagatsarvamityapyavitathopamam || 67 ||

English

The directions are seen everywhere with the risen sun and moon, stable and immovable | Thus, the entire world is indestructible, this is also a true comparison || 67 ||

na tadasti na yattasminnekaśminvitatātmani | saṃkalpakalanājālamanākhye nopapadyate || 68 ||

English

There is nothing that does not exist in that single, all-pervading Self. The network of resolutions and calculations does not apply to the indescribable.

Again and again, all this happens—birth and death, happiness and sorrow, actions and their results.

English

Again there are hopes, again the sky, again the oceans and mountains. Creation rises again like the light of the sun in the sky.

Again there is the god Narayana, again the sons of Danu and others. Again there are the beautiful mountains, the moon, the sun, Varuna, and the wind.

English

The earth, beloved of the lotus-like peak of Mount Meru, adorned with the crest of the Sahya mountain, appears full and prosperous, like a lotus blooming again.

English

The sun, having entered the sky, moves with its rays like sharp nails, to pierce the darkness, like an elephant.

English

The moon, with its beautiful, clear, and moving rays, creates a delightful nectar-like ornament for the directions and the faces of the brides.

punaḥ svargataroḥ puṇyakṣayavātasamīritāḥ | patantīha vinunnāṅgāḥ puṇyakṛtpusparāśayaḥ || 76 ||

English

Again, the flowers of the heavenly trees, blown by the wind of merit-destroying, fall here with their limbs bent, as offerings of the virtuous.

Again, with the wings of actions and deeds, the worldly beginning, making a little fluttering sound, goes away like a bird of time.

punarindrādike yāte sajjamāsthāya kevalam | āyātyaparadevendraṣaṭpadaḥ svargapaṅkajam || 78 ||

English

After the departure of Indra and others, the bee, which is the lord of the gods, comes to the lotus of heaven, having merely prepared itself.

punaḥ kālaṃ kṛtāpūtaṃ kaluṣīkurute kaliḥ | sacakriṇamivāmbhodhiṃ pravṛddho'vakarānilaḥ || 79 ||

English

Again, the age of Kali makes the purified time impure, like a strong wind that makes the ocean, which has a disc, turbulent.

puna kālakulālena kṛtabhūtaśarāvakam | cakramāvartyate vegādajasraṃ kalpanāmakam || 80 ||

English

Again, by the disturbance of time, the pot made of elements is rapidly spun like a perpetual conceptual wheel.

punarnīrasatāmeti jagadastśubhasthiti | abhyāsībhūtasaṅkalpaṃ saṃśuṣkamiva kānanam || 81 ||

English

Again, the world devoid of good condition becomes tasteless, like a forest that has become dry due to repeated resolutions.

punararkagaṇeṣvagnidagdhānantakalevaram | sarvabhūtāsthisaṃpūrṇaṃ jagadeti śmaśānatām || 82 ||

English

Again, the world becomes a cremation ground, filled with the bones of all beings, whose bodies are burnt by the fire of the sun's rays.

punaḥ kulācalākārapuṣkarāvartavarṣaṇaiḥ | nṛtyadbhavabṛhatphenāṃ yātyekārṇavatāṃ jagat || 83 ||

English

Again, with the torrential rains resembling the movement of mountains and lotuses, the world becomes a vast ocean, dancing with enormous foam.

punaḥ saṃśāntavāyvamburiktaṃ sakalavastubhiḥ | tadapūrvamivākāśaṃ jagadāyāti śūnyatām || 84 ||

English

Again, with the calming of the winds and waters, the world, filled with all things, becomes empty, as if it were a new sky.

punaḥ katipayā bhuktvā samāḥ samarasāśayaḥ | jīvitaṃ jīrṇayā tanvā punaḥ svātmani līyate || 85 ||

English

Again, after enjoying a few years with a mind full of desires, one's life becomes worn out, and one merges back into the self.

punaranyena kālena tathaiva jagatāṃ gaṇān | manastanoti vai śūnye gandharvanagaraṃ yathā || 86 ||

English

Again, after some time, the mind creates the multitudes of the world in the emptiness, like a city of the Gandharvas.

puraḥ sargasamārambhaḥ pralaye sarvasaṃbhavaḥ | sarvaṃ punaridaṃ rāma cakravatparivartate || 87 ||

English

In the beginning, there is the creation of the universe, and in the end, there is the dissolution of all. Everything, O Rama, revolves in a cycle.

kimetasminmahāmāyāḍambare dīrghaśambare | rāma satyam asatyam vā nirṇeyam yadihocyate || 88 ||

English

What is the truth or falsehood in this great illusion and long-lasting world? O Rama, it is to be determined here.

dāśūrākhyāyikeveyam rāma saṃsāracakrikā | kalpanāracitākārā vastuśūnyā na vastutaḥ || 89 ||

English

This story, known as the tale of the ten-headed one, O Rama, is the wheel of the world, created by imagination, devoid of substance, not real.

aviralamidamātataṃ vikalpairasaduditairapi tairdvicandrakalpaiḥ | viracitamasatānupannasatyaṃ jagadiha tena vimūḍhatā kimutthā || 90 ||

English

This continuous creation, even though it is imagined and unreal, is made to appear real by the dualistic concepts. How then does the delusion arise in this world?
