śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | iti tuṣṭeṣu deveṣu dānaveṣu hateṣu ca | dāmavyālakaṭā dīnā babhūvurbhayavihvalāḥ || 1 ||
Shri Vasishtha said: Thus, when the gods were pleased and the demons were killed, the wives of the demons became miserable and trembled with fear.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: इस प्रकार, जब देवता प्रसन्न हुए और दानव मारे गए, तो दानवों की पत्नियाँ दुःखी हो गईं और भय से काँपने लगीं।
जज्वाल कुपितः क्वेति कल्पान्ताग्निरिव ज्वलन् | शम्बरः शमितानीको दामव्यालकटान्प्रति || २ ||
jajvāla kupitaḥ kveti kalpāntāgniriva jvalan | śambaraḥ śamitānīko dāmavyālakaṭānprati || 2 ||
Shambara, enraged and with his army destroyed, blazed like the fire of destruction, directing his fury towards the wives of the demons.
शम्बर, क्रोधित होकर और अपनी सेना को नष्ट करके, प्रलय की अग्नि की तरह दहक उठा, दानवों की पत्नियों की ओर अपना क्रोध दिखाते हुए।
शम्बरस्य भयाद्गत्वा पातालमथ सप्तमम् | दामव्यालकटास्तस्थुस्त्यक्त्वाथ निजमण्डलम् || ३ ||
śambarasya bhayādgatvā pātālamatha saptamam | dāmavyālakaṭāstasthustyaktvātha nijamaṇḍalam || 3 ||
Fearing Shambara, the wives of the demons went to the seventh underworld, abandoning their own realm.
शम्बर से भयभीत होकर, दानवों की पत्नियाँ सातवें पाताल में चली गईं, अपने राज्य को छोड़कर।
यमस्य किङ्करा यत्र ये कालत्रासनक्षमाः | कुतूहलेन तिष्ठन्ति नरकार्णवपालकाः || ४ ||
yamasya kiṅkarā yatra ye kālatrāsanakṣamāḥ | kutūhalena tiṣṭhanti narakārṇavapālakāḥ || 4 ||
There, the servants of Yama, who are capable of causing fear of death, stand with curiosity, guarding the ocean of hell.
वहाँ, यम के सेवक, जो मृत्यु का भय पैदा करने में सक्षम हैं, उत्सुकता से खड़े हैं, नरक के समुद्र की रक्षा करते हुए।
ते तेषामथ यातानां दत्त्वा भयमभीरवः | चिन्ता इव घनाकाराः कुमारीश्च ददुः क्रमात् || ५ ||
te teṣāmatha yātānāṃ dattvā bhayamabhīravaḥ | cintā iva ghanākārāḥ kumārīśca daduḥ kramāt || 5 ||
Those fearless servants of Yama, upon the arrival of the demon wives, gave them fear and worry, as if they were dense clouds of anxiety, and also gave them maidens in sequence.
यम के वे निडर सेवक, दानवों की पत्नियों के आने पर, उन्हें भय और चिंता दी, मानो वे घने बादलों की तरह चिंता हों, और क्रमशः कुमारियाँ भी दीं।
तैः सार्धं नीतवन्तस्ते तत्र दामादयोऽवधिम् | दशवर्षसहस्रान्तमात्तानन्तकुवासनाः || ६ ||
taiḥ sārdhaṃ nītavantaste tatra dāmādayo'vadhim | daśavarṣasahasrāntamāttānanantakuvāsanāḥ || 6 ||
Along with them, they led the sons-in-law there to the limit of ten thousand years, enjoying endless pleasure.
उनके साथ, वे दामादों को वहाँ दस हजार वर्षों तक ले गए, अनन्त आनंद भोगते हुए।
इयं मे कामिनी कन्या ममेयं प्रभुतेति च | दुरूढस्नेहबन्धानां कालस्तेषां व्यवर्तत || ७ ||
iyaṃ me kāminī kanyā mameyaṃ prabhuteti ca | durūḍhasnehabandhānāṃ kālasteṣāṃ vyavartata || 7 ||
This is my beloved daughter, she is my lord, and so on. The time of those with strong bonds of affection has passed.
यह मेरी प्यारी बेटी है, यह मेरी स्वामिनी है, और इसी तरह। जिनके प्रेम के बंधन मजबूत हैं, उनका समय बीत गया।
धर्मराजोऽथ तं देशं कदाचित्समुपाययौ | महानरककार्याणां विचारार्थं यदृच्छया || ८ ||
dharmarājo'tha taṃ deśaṃ kadācit samupāyayau | mahānarakakāryāṇāṃ vicārārthaṃ yadṛcchayā || 8 ||
Then, by chance, Dharmaraja went to that place to consider the affairs of the great hell.
फिर, इत्तफाक से, धर्मराज उस स्थान पर गए ताकि महानरक के कार्यों का विचार कर सकें।
अपरिज्ञातमेनं ते धर्मराजं त्रयोऽसुराः | न प्रणेमुर्विनाशाय सामान्यमिव किङ्करम् || ९ ||
aparijñātamenaṃ te dharmarājaṃ trayo'surāḥ | na praṇemurvināśāya sāmānyamiva kiṅkaram || 9 ||
Those three demons, not recognizing Dharmaraja, did not bow down to him, as if he were an ordinary servant, leading to their destruction.
उन तीन असुरों ने, धर्मराज को पहचाने बिना, उन्हें एक सामान्य सेवक की तरह नहीं प्रणाम किया, जिससे उनका विनाश हुआ।
अथ वैवस्वतेनैते ज्वलितासूग्रभूमिषु | विहितभ्रूपरिस्पन्दमात्रेणैव निवेशिताः || १० ||
atha vaivasvatenaita jvalitāsūgrabhūmiṣu | vihitabhrūparispandamātreṇaiva niveśitāḥ || 10 ||
Then, by Vaivasvata, these were placed in the fiery, harsh lands, merely by the movement of his eyebrows.
फिर, वैवस्वत द्वारा, इन्हें केवल भौंहों की हलचल से तपती कठोर भूमि पर रखा गया।
तत्र ते करुणाक्रन्दाः ससुहृद्दारबन्धवः | प्रदग्धाः पर्णविटपा वृक्षा इव वनानिलैः || ११ ||
tatra te karuṇākrandāḥ sasuhṛddārabandhavaḥ | pradagdhāḥ parṇaviṭapā vṛkṣā iva vanānilaiḥ || 11 ||
There, they cried out in sorrow, along with their friends, wives, and relatives, like trees with burnt leaves and branches by the forest wind.
वहाँ, वे अपने मित्रों, पत्नियों और रिश्तेदारों के साथ दुःख से चीखे, जैसे जंगल की हवा से जले हुए पत्तों और डालियों वाले पेड़।
स्वया वासनया जातास्तयैव क्रूरया पुनः | बन्धकर्मकराकाराः किराता राजकिङ्कराः || १२ ||
svayā vāsanayā jātāstayaiava krūrayā punaḥ | bandhakarmakarākārāḥ kirātā rājakiṅkarāḥ || 12 ||
Born from their own desires, and again from that very cruel desire, they became hunters, servants of the king, and performers of binding actions.
अपनी ही वासना से उत्पन्न, और फिर उसी क्रूर वासना से, वे शिकारी, राजा के सेवक, और बंधन कर्म करने वाले बन गए।
तज्जन्माथ परित्यज्य जाताः श्वभ्रेषु वायसाः | तदन्ते गृध्रतां यातास्ततोऽपि शुक्लतां गताः || १३ ||
tajjanmātha parityajya jātāḥ śvabhreṣu vāyasāḥ | tadante gṛdhratāṃ yātāstatopi śuklatāṃ gatāḥ || 13 ||
Abandoning that birth, they were born as crows in holes, then at the end, they became vultures, and from there, they attained purity.
उस जन्म को छोड़कर, वे छेदों में कौए के रूप में पैदा हुए, फिर अंत में, वे गिद्ध बन गए, और उसके बाद, वे शुद्धता प्राप्त कर गए।
सूकरत्वं त्रिगर्तेषु मेषत्वं पर्वतेषु च | मगधेष्वथ कीटत्वं बभ्रुस्ते च कुबुद्धयः || १४ ||
sūkaratvaṃ trigarteṣu meṣatvaṃ parvateṣu ca | magadheṣvatha kīṭatvaṃ babhruste ca kubuddhayaḥ || 14 ||
They became pigs in Trigarta, sheep in the mountains, insects in Magadha, and those with evil intentions became mongoose.
वे त्रिगर्त में सूअर बने, पर्वतों में भेड़, मगध में कीड़े, और दुर्भावना वाले नेवले बन गए।
अनुभूयेतरामन्यां चित्रां योनिपरम्पराम् | अद्य मत्स्याः स्थिता राम काश्मीरारण्यपल्वले || १५ ||
anubhūyetarāmanyāṃ citrāṃ yoniparamparām | adya matsyāḥ sthitā rāma kāśmīrāraṇyapalvale || 15 ||
Having experienced various other strange births, O Rama, today they are situated as fish in the marshes of the Kashmir forest.
विभिन्न अन्य विचित्र जन्मों का अनुभव करके, हे राम, आज वे कश्मीर के वन के दलदल में मछली के रूप में स्थित हैं।
दावाग्निक्वथिताल्पाल्पपङ्ककल्पाम्बुपायिनः | न म्रियन्ते न जीवन्ति जरज्जम्बालजर्जराः || १६ ||
dāvāgnikvathitālpālpapaṅkakalpāmbupāyinaḥ | na mriyante na jīvanti jarajjambālajarjarāḥ || 16 ||
Those who are afflicted by the fire of worldly desires and are attached to trivial pleasures do not truly live or die; they are like old, worn-out bags, constantly decaying.
जो लोग संसारिक इच्छाओं की आग से पीड़ित हैं और तुच्छ भोगों में लिप्त हैं, वे वास्तव में न जीते हैं न मरते हैं; वे पुराने, फटे-पुराने थैलों की तरह हैं, जो निरंतर खराब होते जा रहे हैं।
विचित्रयोनिसंरम्भमनुभूय पुनःपुनः | भूत्वा भूत्वा पुनर्नष्टास्तरङ्गा जलधाविव || १७ ||
vichitrayonisaṃrambhamanubhūya punaḥpunaḥ | bhūtvā bhūtvā punarnāṣṭāstarangā jaladhāviva || 17 ||
Experiencing various births and deaths repeatedly, they are destroyed again and again, like the waves of the ocean.
विभिन्न जन्म और मृत्यु का अनुभव करते हुए, वे बार-बार नष्ट होते हैं, मानो समुद्र के तरंग हों।
भवजलधिगतास्ते वासनातन्तुनुन्नास्तृणमिव चिरमूढा देहरूपैस्तरङ्गैः | उपशममुपयाता राम नाद्याप्यनन्तं परिकलय महत्त्वं दारुणं वासनायाः || १८ ||
bhavajaladhigatāste vāsanātantununnāstṛṇamiva ciramūḍhā deharūpaisstarangaiḥ | upaśamamupayātā rāma nādyāpyanantaṃ parikalaya mahattvaṃ dāruṇaṃ vāsanāyāḥ || 18 ||
Those who are entangled in the ocean of worldly existence by the threads of desires are like grass, long deluded by the waves of bodily forms. O Rama, they have not yet attained peace; consider the terrible magnitude of desires.
जो लोग इच्छाओं के तारों से उलझे हुए संसार के समुद्र में हैं, वे शरीर के रूप के तरंगों से लंबे समय तक भ्रमित घास के समान हैं। हे राम, वे अभी तक शांति प्राप्त नहीं कर पाए हैं; इच्छाओं के भयानक महत्व पर विचार करो।
