श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच । इति निर्णीय दैत्येन्द्रो दामव्यालकटान्विताम् । सेनां संप्रेषयामास भूतलं देवनाशिनीम् || १ ||

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | iti nirṇīya daityendro dāmavyālakaṭānvitām | senāṃ saṃpreṣayāmāsa bhūtalaṃ devanāśinīm || 1 ||

English

Shri Vasishtha said: Having decided thus, the king of the demons sent forth an army adorned with flags and banners to the earth to destroy the gods.

The demons, armed with weapons, emerged from the ocean caves and mountain caverns, causing great terror with their winged mountain sports.

The demons, adorned with flags and banners, filled the sky with their hand strikes that eclipsed the sun.

English

Then, from the mountain caves and peaks, the terrible hordes of the dwellers of heaven emerged, as if agitated at the end of the world.

English

Their radiance faded like the moon and the sun at the time of dissolution, and their heads were adorned with earrings and consumed by the intense heat.

They roared like lions released by warriors, and their laughter echoed like mountains filled with the winds of dissolution.
