महतानेन दुःखेन सर्वे ते ग्रामका जनाः | विनिर्गत्य गता दूरं सर्वे पञ्चत्वमागताः || २ ||

mahatānena duḥkhena sarve te grāmakā janāḥ | vinirgatya gatā dūraṃ sarve pañcatvamāgatāḥ || 2 ||

English

With great sorrow, all the villagers left and went far away, all of them met their end.

हिन्दी

महान दुःख से सभी गाँव के लोग चले गए और दूर चले गए, सभी अपने अंत तक पहुंच गए।

तेनेमा दुःखभागिन्यः शून्या वयमिह प्रभो | सौम्य शोचाम सद्वाष्पमाचान्तेक्षणधारया || ३ ||

tenemā duḥkhabhāginyaḥ śūnyā vayamiha prabho | saumya śocāma sadvāṣpamācāntekṣaṇadhārayā || 3 ||

English

Because of that, we are now bereft, O Lord, and we grieve with tearful eyes.

हिन्दी

इसलिए, हम अब सूने हैं, हे प्रभो, और हम आँसुओं भरी आँखों से शोक करते हैं।

इत्याकर्ण्याङ्गनावक्त्राद्राजा विस्मयमागतः | मन्त्रिणां मुखमालोक्य चित्रार्पित इवाभवत् || ४ ||

ityākarṇyāṅganāvaktrādrājā vismayamāgataḥ | mantrināṃ mukhamālokya citrārpita ivābhavat || 4 ||

English

Hearing this from the mouth of the woman, the king was astonished and, looking at the faces of his ministers, he became as if painted in various colors.

इसे स्त्री के मुख से सुनकर, राजा आश्चर्यचकित हो गया और अपने मंत्रियों के चेहरे देखकर, वह जैसे विभिन्न रंगों में रंगा हुआ लगने लगा।

केनचित्त्वथ कालेन ग्रामकेऽस्मिञ्जनेश्वर | अवृष्टिदुःखमभवद्भीषणं भग्नमानवम् || ५ ||

kenacittvatha kālena grāmake'smiñjaneśvara | avṛṣṭiduḥkhamabhavadbhīṣaṇaṃ bhagnamānavam || 5 ||

English

At some point in time, O Lord of the people, there was a terrible drought in this village, causing great suffering and broken spirits.

हिन्दी

किसी समय पर, हे जनेश्वर, इस गाँव में एक भयानक अकाल हुआ, जिससे बड़ा दुःख और टूटे हुए मन हुए।

तेषां समुचितैर्दानसन्मानैर्दुःखसंक्षयम् | कृत्वा करुणयाविष्टो इष्टलोकपरावरः || ६ ||

teṣāṃ samucitairdānasanmānairduḥkhasaṃkṣayam | kṛtvā karuṇayāviṣṭo iṣṭalokaparāvaraḥ || 6 ||

English

With appropriate gifts and honors, he alleviated their suffering, filled with compassion, and became devoted to the desired world.

उचित दान और सम्मान के साथ, उसने उनके दुःख को कम किया, दया से भरा हुआ, और अभीष्ट लोक के प्रति समर्पित हो गया।

स्थित्वा तत्र चिरं कालं विमृश्य नियतेर्गतीः । आजगाम गृहं पौरैर्वन्दितः प्रविवेश ह || ७ ||

sthitvā tatra ciraṃ kālaṃ vimṛśya niyatergatīḥ | ājagāma gṛhaṃ paurairvanditaḥ praviveśa ha || 7 ||

English

Having stayed there for a long time, contemplating the course of destiny, he returned to his house, honored by the citizens, and entered.

हिन्दी

वहाँ लंबे समय तक रहकर, नियति के मार्ग का विचार करते हुए, उसने नागरिकों द्वारा सम्मानित होकर अपने घर में प्रवेश किया।

प्रातस्तत्र सभास्थाने मामपृच्छदसौ नृपः । कथमेवं मुने स्वप्नः प्रत्यक्षमिति विस्मितः || ८ ||

prātastatra sabhāsthāne māmapṛcchadasau nṛpaḥ | kathamevaṃ mune svapnaḥ pratyakṣamiti vismitaḥ || 8 ||

English

In the morning, in the assembly, the king, astonished, asked me, 'How is this dream becoming a reality, O sage?'

हिन्दी

प्रातःकाल, सभा में, राजा ने मुझसे आश्चर्यचकित होकर पूछा, 'हे मुनि, यह स्वप्न कैसे सच हो रहा है?'

यथावस्तुतया तस्य तत उक्तः स तादृशः । संशयो हृदयान्नुन्नो वातेनेवाम्बुदो दिवः || ९ ||

yathāvastutayā tasya tata uktas sa tādṛśaḥ | saṃśayo hṛdayānnunno vātenevāmbudo divaḥ || 9 ||

English

According to the reality, he was told that. His doubt was dispelled from his heart like a cloud by the wind in the sky.

हिन्दी

वास्तविकता के अनुसार, उसे यह बताया गया। उसका संदेह हृदय से दूर हो गया, जैसे आकाश में वायु द्वारा बादल दूर हो जाता है।

इत्येवं राघवाविद्या महती भ्रमदायिनी । असत्सत्तां नयत्याशु सच्चासत्तां नयत्यलम् || १० ||

ityevaṃ rāghavāvidyā mahatī bhramadāyinī | asatsattāṃ nayatyāśu saccāsattāṃ nayatyalam || 10 ||

English

Thus, the great delusion of Raghava leads to the perception of the unreal as real and the real as unreal quickly.

हिन्दी

इस प्रकार, रघुवंशी की महान भ्रम उत्पन्न करती है, जो असत् को सत् और सत् को असत् बना देती है।

श्रीराम उवाच । कथमेवं वद ब्रह्मन्स्वप्नः सत्यत्वमागतः । भ्रमोदार इवैषोऽर्थो न मे गलति चेतसि || ११ ||

śrīrāma uvāca | kathamevaṃ vada brahman svapnaḥ satyatvamāgataḥ | bhramodāra iva eṣo'rtho na me galati cetasi || 11 ||

English

Shri Rama said, 'O Brahman, how is it that this dream has become a reality? This matter seems like a great delusion and does not settle in my mind.'

हिन्दी

श्री राम ने कहा, 'हे ब्रह्मन्, यह स्वप्न सच कैसे हो गया? यह मामला एक बड़े भ्रम की तरह लगता है और मेरे मन में बैठता नहीं है।'

श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | सर्वमेतदविद्यायां संभवत्येव राघव | घटेषु पटता दृष्टा स्वप्नसंभ्रमितादिषु || १२ ||

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | sarvametadavidyāyāṃ saṃbhavatyeva rāghava | ghaṭeṣu paṭatā dṛṣṭā svapnasambhramitādiṣu || 12 ||

English

Vasishtha said: All this arises from ignorance, O Raghava. Like the appearance of a cloth in pots, dreams, and delusions.

हिन्दी

वसिष्ठ ने कहा: हे राघव, यह सब अविद्या से उत्पन्न होता है। जैसे घड़ों में कपड़े की छाया, स्वप्न और भ्रम में।

दूरं निकटवद्भाति मुकुरेऽन्तरिवाचलः | चिरं शीघ्रत्वमायाति पुनः श्रेष्ठेव यामिनी || १३ ||

dūraṃ nikaṭavadbhāti mukure'ntarivācalaḥ | ciraṃ śīghratvamāyāti punaḥ śreṣṭheva yāminī || 13 ||

English

The distant appears near, like a mountain in a mirror. The long time seems short, and the night appears beautiful again.

हिन्दी

दूर निकट लगता है, जैसे दर्पण में पर्वत। लंबा समय छोटा लगता है, और रात फिर से सुंदर लगती है।

असंभवश्च भवति स्वप्ने स्वमरणं यथा | असच्च सदिवाभाति स्वप्नेष्विव नभोगतिः || १४ ||

asaṃbhavaśca bhavati svapne svamaraṇaṃ yathā | asaccasadivābhāti svapneṣviva nabhogatiḥ || 14 ||

English

The impossible becomes possible in dreams, like one's own death. The unreal appears real, like the motion of the sky in dreams.

हिन्दी

असंभव स्वप्न में संभव हो जाता है, जैसे अपनी मृत्यु। असत्य सत्य की तरह दिखाई देता है, जैसे स्वप्न में आकाश की गति।

सुस्थितं सुष्ठ चलति भ्रमे भूपरिवर्तवत् | अचलं चलतामेति मदविक्षुब्धचित्तवत् || १५ ||

suṣṭhitaṃ suṣṭha calati bhrame bhūparivartavat | acalaṃ calatāmeti madavikṣubdhacittavat || 15 ||

English

The stable appears to move in delusion, like the rotation of the earth. The immovable attains motion, like the mind disturbed by intoxication.

हिन्दी

स्थिर चलने लगता है भ्रम में, जैसे पृथ्वी का घूमना। अचल चलने लगता है, जैसे मद से विक्षुब्ध मन।

वासनावलितं चेतो यद्यथा भावयत्यलम् | तत्तथानुभवत्याशु न तदस्ति न वाप्यसत् || १६ ||

vāsanāvalitaṃ ceto yadyathā bhāvayatyalam | tattathānubhavatyāśu na tadasthi na vāpyasat || 16 ||

English

The mind, influenced by desires, perceives things as it wishes. It experiences them immediately, but they are neither real nor unreal.

हिन्दी

वासना से आवृत मन, जैसे सोचता है, वैसा ही अनुभव करता है। वह तुरंत अनुभव करता है, पर वह न तो सत्य है न असत्य।

यदैवाभ्युदिता विद्या त्वहंत्वादिमयी मुधा | तदैवानादिमध्यान्ता भ्रमस्यानन्ततोदिता || १७ ||

yadaivābhyuditā vidyā tvahaṃtvādimayī mudhā | tadaivānādimadhyāntā bhramasyānantatoditā || 17 ||

English

As soon as knowledge arises, it is filled with the sense of 'I' and 'mine', and at that very moment, the endless delusion, which has no beginning, middle, or end, arises.

हिन्दी

जैसे ही विद्या उदित होती है, वैसे ही उसमें 'मैं' और 'मेरा' का भाव भर जाता है, और उसी क्षण अनादि, अनन्त भ्रम उत्पन्न होता है।

प्रतिभासवशादेव सर्वो विपरिवर्तते | क्षणः कल्पत्वमायाति कल्पश्च भवति क्षणः || १८ ||

pratibhāsavaśādeva sarvo viparivartate | kṣaṇaḥ kalpatvamāyāti kalpaśca bhavati kṣaṇaḥ || 18 ||

English

Due to the power of illusion, everything is transformed. A moment becomes an eon, and an eon becomes a moment.

भ्रम के प्रभाव से, सब कुछ परिवर्तित हो जाता है। एक क्षण कल्प बन जाता है, और कल्प एक क्षण बन जाता है।

विपर्यस्तमतिर्जन्तुः पश्यत्यात्मानमेडकम् | बिभर्ति सिंहतामेडो वासनावशतः स्वयम् || १९ ||

viparyastamatirjantuḥ paśyatyātmānameḍakam | bibharti siṃhatāmeḍo vāsanāvaśataḥ svayam || 19 ||

English

A being with a confused mind sees itself as weak. A sheep, due to its own tendencies, considers itself a lion.

विपरीत बुद्धि वाला जीव अपने आप को दुर्बल देखता है। एक भेड़िया, अपनी वासनाओं के कारण, अपने आप को सिंह मानता है।

विषमभ्रमदाविद्यामोहाहन्तादयः समाः | सर्वे चित्तविपर्यासफलसंपत्तिहेतुतः || २० ||

viṣamabhramadāvidyāmohāhantādayaḥ samāḥ | sarve cittaviparyāsaphalasaṃpattihetutaḥ || 20 ||

English

Uneven delusions such as ignorance, confusion, ego, etc., are all the same. They all arise from the distortion of the mind.

हिन्दी

असमान भ्रम जैसे अज्ञान, भ्रम, अहंकार आदि सब एक समान हैं। ये सब मन के विकृति से उत्पन्न होते हैं।

काकतालीयवच्चेतोवासनावशतः स्वतः | संवदन्ति महारम्भा व्यवहाराः परस्परम् || २१ ||

kākatālīyavaccetovāsanāvaśataḥ svataḥ | saṃvadanti mahārambhā vyavahārāḥ parasparam || 21 ||

English

Like the crow and the palm fruit, the mind, due to its own tendencies, engages in grand debates and interactions with others.

हिन्दी

कौवे और ताड़ के फल की तरह, मन, अपनी वासनाओं के कारण, दूसरों के साथ महान बहस और बातचीत में लग जाता है।

वृत्तं प्राक्पक्कणे राज्ञः कस्यचिल्लवणस्य यत् | प्रतिभातं तदेतस्य सद्वासद्वा मनोगतम् || २२ ||

vṛttaṃ prākpakkaṇe rājñaḥ kasyacillavaṇasya yat | pratibhātaṃ tadetasya sadvāsadvā manogatam || 22 ||

English

The story of a certain king named Lavana, which happened in the past, appears in his mind as either good or bad.

हिन्दी

एक राजा लवण की पुरानी कहानी, जो उसके मन में अच्छी या बुरी लगती है।

विस्मरत्यपि विस्तीर्णां कृतां चेतःक्रियां यथा | तथा कृतामप्यकृतामिति स्मरति निश्चितम् || २३ ||

vismaratyapi vistīrṇāṃ kṛtāṃ cetḥakriyāṃ yathā | tathā kṛtāmapyakṛtāmiti smarati niścitam || 23 ||

English

Just as one forgets an extensive mental activity that has been done, similarly, one certainly remembers an action as not done.

हिन्दी

जैसे कोई एक विस्तृत मानसिक गतिविधि को भूल जाता है, वैसे ही कोई एक कार्य को अकर्मण्य के रूप में याद करता है।

तथा न भुक्तवानस्मि भुक्तवानिति चेतसि | स्वप्ने देशान्तरगमे प्राकृतोऽप्यवबुद्ध्यते || २४ ||

tathā na bhuktavānasmī bhuktavāniti cetasi | svapne deśāntaragame prākṛto'pyavabudhyate || 24 ||

English

Similarly, one thinks, 'I have not eaten,' even though one has eaten in a dream or while traveling to another place.

इसी तरह, कोई सोचता है, 'मैंने नहीं खाया,' भले ही उसने सपने में या किसी दूसरी जगह जाते समय खाया हो।

विन्ध्यपुष्कससुग्रामे व्यवहारोऽयमीदृशः | प्रतिभासागतस्तस्य स्वप्ने पूर्वकथा यथा || २५ ||

vindhyapuṣkasasugrāme vyavahāro'yamīdṛśaḥ | pratibhāsāgatastasya svapne pūrvakathā yathā || 25 ||

English

In the Vindhya, Pushka, and Sugrama regions, such is the practice. It appears to him in a dream like a previous story.

हिन्दी

विन्ध्य, पुष्क, और सुग्राम क्षेत्रों में, ऐसा ही व्यवहार है। यह उसे सपने में पहले की कहानी की तरह प्रतीत होता है।

अथवा लवणेनाशु दृष्टो यः स्वप्नविभ्रमः | स एव संविदं प्राप्तो विन्ध्यपुष्कसचेतसि || २६ ||

athavā lavaṇenāśu dṛṣṭo yaḥ svapnavibhramaḥ | sa eva saṃvidaṃ prāpto vindhyapuṣkasacetasi || 26 ||

English

Or, the dream delusion seen by Lavana quickly reaches his consciousness in the Vindhya and Pushka regions.

या, लवण द्वारा देखा गया सपने का भ्रम तुरंत उसकी चेतना में विन्ध्य और पुष्क क्षेत्रों में पहुंचता है।

लावणी प्रतिभाऽऽरूढा विन्ध्यापुष्कसचेतसि | विन्ध्यपुष्कससंविद्वाऽऽरूढा पार्थिवचेतसि || २७ ||

lāvaṇī pratibhā''rūḍhā vindhyāpuṣkasacetasi | vindhyapuṣkasasaṃvidvā''rūḍhā pārthivacetasi || 27 ||

English

The intelligence of the mind is firmly established in the consciousness of the Vindhya-Pushka | The consciousness of the Vindhya-Pushka is firmly established in the mind of the king || 27 ||

हिन्दी

मन की बुद्धि विन्ध्य-पुष्क के चेतना में दृढ़ता से स्थित है | विन्ध्य-पुष्क के चेतना की बुद्धि राजा के मन में दृढ़ता से स्थित है || २७ ||

यथा बहूनां सदृशं वचनं नाम मानसम् | तथा स्वप्नेऽपि भवति कालो देशः क्रियापि च || २८ ||

yathā bahūnāṃ sadṛśaṃ vacanaṃ nāma mānasam | tathā svapne'pi bhavati kālo deśaḥ kriyāpi ca || 28 ||

English

Just as the words of many are similar to the mind, so too in dreams, time, place, and action occur || 28 ||

vyavahāragatestasyāḥ sattāsti pratibhāsataḥ | sattā sarvapadārthānāṃ nānyā saṃvedanādṛte || 29 ||

English

The existence of that which is in practical use is apparent | The existence of all objects is not different from perception || 29 ||

संवेदनेतरा भाति वीचिर्वा जलसंगतिः | भूतभव्यभविष्यस्था तरुबीजे तरुर्यथा || ३० ||

saṃvedanetarā bhāti vīcirvā jalasaṃgatiḥ | bhūtabhavyabhaviṣyasthā tarubīje taruryathā || 30 ||

English

It appears different from perception, like the waves in water | Like a tree in a seed, it exists in the past, present, and future || 30 ||

यह अनुभूति से भिन्न प्रतीत होता है, जैसे जल में लहरें | जैसे बीज में वृक्ष, यह भूत, भविष्य और वर्तमान में होता है || ३० ||

तस्याः सत्त्वमसत्त्वं च न सन्नासदिति स्थितम् | सत्सदेव हि संवित्तेरसंवित्तेरसन्मयम् || ३१ ||

tasyāḥ sattvam asattvaṃ ca na sannāsaditi sthitam | satsadeva hi saṃvittesasaṃvittesasanmayam || 31 ||

English

Its existence and non-existence are not established as real or unreal | It is the reality of perception and non-perception || 31 ||

There is no ignorance in the world, just as there is no oil in sand. What else can be the state of gold without its golden nature?

नाविद्या विद्यते किंचित्तैलादि सिकतास्विव | हेम्नः किं कटकादन्यत्पदं स्याद्धेमतां विना || ३२ ||

अविद्ययात्मतत्त्वस्य संबन्धो नोपपद्यते | संबन्धः सदृशानां च यः स्फुटः स्वानुभूतितः || ३३ ||

avidyayātmatattvasya saṃbandho nopapadyate | saṃbandhaḥ sadṛśānāṃ ca yaḥ sphuṭaḥ svānubhūtitḥ || 33 ||

English

The relationship between ignorance and the self is not logical. The relationship that is clear through direct experience is among similar things.

हिन्दी

अविद्ययात्मतत्त्वस्य संबन्धो नोपपद्यते | संबन्धः सदृशानां च यः स्फुटः स्वानुभूतितः || ३३ ||

जतुकाष्ठादिसंबन्धो यः समासमयोगतः | नान्योन्यानुभवायासौ तदेकस्पन्दमात्रकम् || ३४ ||

jatukāṣṭhādisaṃbandho yaḥ samāsamayogataḥ | nānyonyānubhavāyāsau tadekaspanadamātrakam || 34 ||

English

The relationship between lac and wood is due to their combination. This relationship is not for mutual experience but is merely a single vibration.

हिन्दी

जतुकाष्ठादिसंबन्धो यः समासमयोगतः | नान्योन्यानुभवायासौ तदेकस्पन्दमात्रकम् || ३४ ||

परमार्थमयं सर्वं यथा तेनोपलादयः | चिता समभिचेत्यन्ते संबन्धवशतः समाः || ३५ ||

paramārthamayaṃ sarvaṃ yathā tenopalādayaḥ | citā samabhicetyante saṃbandhavśataḥ samāḥ || 35 ||

English

All this is pervaded by the ultimate reality, as it is understood by that. The wise ones, being equal, understand through the power of relationship.

हिन्दी

परमार्थमयं सर्वं यथा तेनोपलादयः | चिता समभिचेत्यन्ते संबन्धवशतः समाः || ३५ ||

यदा चिन्मात्रसन्मात्रमयाः सव जगद्गताः | भावास्तदा विभान्त्येते मिथः स्वानुभवस्थितेः || ३६ ||

yadā cinmātrasanmātramayāḥ sava jagadgatāḥ | bhāvāstadā vibhāntyete mithaḥ svānubhavasthiteḥ || 36 ||

English

When the world is seen as pure consciousness, then all beings shine through their own experience.

हिन्दी

यदा चिन्मात्रसन्मात्रमयाः सव जगद्गताः | भावास्तदा विभान्त्येते मिथः स्वानुभवस्थितेः || ३६ ||

न संभवति संबन्धो विषमाणां निरन्तरः | न परस्परसंबन्धाद्विनानुभवनं मिथः || ३७ ||

na saṃbhavati saṃbandho viṣamāṇāṃ nirantaraḥ | na parasparasaṃbandhādvinānubhavaṇaṃ mithaḥ || 37 ||

English

There cannot be a continuous relationship between dissimilar entities | Without mutual relationship, there is no experience of each other

सदृशे सदृशं वस्तु क्षणाद्गत्वैकतामलम् | रूपमास्फारयत्येकमेकत्वादेव नान्यथा || ३८ ||

sadṛśe sadṛśaṃ vastu kṣaṇādgatvaikatāmalam | rūpamāsphārayatyekamekatvādeva nānyathā || 38 ||

English

In similar entities, a similar object instantly attains unity | It manifests a single form solely due to unity, not otherwise

चिच्चेत्यमिलिता दृश्यरूपयोदेति चेतनः | जडं जडेन मिलितं घनं संपद्यते जडम् || ३९ ||

cicchetyamilitā dṛśyarūpayodeti cetanaḥ | jaḍaṃ jaḍena militaṃ ghanaṃ saṃpadyate jaḍam || 39 ||

English

Consciousness combined with the seen form becomes conscious | The inert combined with the inert becomes dense and inert

चेतना दृश्य रूप के साथ मिलकर चेतन बनती है | जड़ जड़ के साथ मिलकर घना और जड़ बनता है

चिज्जडौ चित्र एकत्र न तौ संमिलतः क्वचित् | चिन्मयत्वाच्चिदालम्भश्चिदालम्भेन वेदनम् || ४० ||

cijjajḍau citra ekatra na tau saṃmilataḥ kvacit | cinmayatvāccidālambhaścidālambhena vedanam || 40 ||

English

Consciousness and inertness, though diverse, do not combine anywhere | Due to the nature of pure consciousness, knowledge is attained through the support of consciousness

English

The tongue alone experiences taste, and impurity arises from similar things. Know that unity is a relationship; there is no such thing between dissimilar entities.

Having attained the state of oneness, the seer and the seen create confusion. Indeed, everything, including wood and stones, is of the nature of the ultimate reality.

English

That is perceived as the self in that relationship, and everything is perceived as full of all varieties, as if infinite.

English

The wonder of consciousness is complete, yet nothing is complete. The cities of imagination of people vibrate among themselves, not in reality.

न देशकालरोधाय तथा सर्गेष्विति स्थितिः | भेदबोधे हि सर्गत्वमहंत्वादिभ्रमोदयः || ४८ ||

na deśakālarodhāya tathā sargeṣviti sthitiḥ | bhedabodhe hi sargatvamahaṃtvādibhramodayaḥ || 48 ||

English

There is no restriction of space and time in this state. In the perception of difference, the illusion of creation and ego arises.

English

When the vision of the seer is abandoned, there is no separate ignorance. Just as pure gold is one, without the great difference of the bracelet and other forms.

English

Due to the oneness of consciousness, this creation is nothing but that. Just as an army made of clay is merely clay, so is this creation made of consciousness.

jalamekaṃ taraṅgādi dārvekaṃ śālabhañjikā | mṛnmātramekaṃ kumbhādi brahmaikaṃ trijagadbhramaḥ || 52 ||

English

Water is one, but it appears as waves, foam, etc. Wood is one, but it appears as a tree, a leaf, etc. Clay is one, but it appears as a pot, etc. Brahman is one, but it appears as the three worlds.

In the relationship between the seen and the seer, the form of the seer is that which is devoid of the seer, the seeing, and the seen. That is the supreme.

ajāgratsvapnanidrasya yatte rūpaṃ sanātanam | acetanaṃ cājaḍaṃ ca tanmayo bhava sarvadā || 55 ||

English

The eternal form of the states of wakefulness, dream, and deep sleep is both non-conscious and non-inert. Always be absorbed in that.

जडतां वर्जयित्वैकां शिलाया हृदयं हि तत् | अक्षुब्धो वाथवा क्षुब्धस्तन्मयो भव सर्वदा || ५६ ||

jaḍatāṃ varjayitvaikāṃ śilāyā hṛdayaṃ hi tat | akṣubdho vāthavā kṣubdhas tanmayo bhava sarvadā || 56 ||

English

Abandon the notion of inertness, the heart of the stone is that. Whether disturbed or undisturbed, always be absorbed in that.

kasyacitkiñcanāpīha nodeti na vilīyate | akṣubdho vāthavākṣubdhaḥ svasthastiṣṭha yathāsukham || 57 ||

English

Whatever may arise or dissolve, remain calm and composed, whether disturbed or not, stay at ease as you are.

nābhivāñchati no dveṣṭi dehe kiñcitkvacitpumān | svasthastiṣṭha nirāśaṅkaṃ dehavṛttiṣu mā pat || 58 ||

English

A wise person neither desires nor hates anything related to the body. Remain calm and fearless in bodily affairs, do not fall into them.

bhaviṣyadgrāmakagrāmyakāryavyavasito yathā | cittavṛttiṣu mā tiṣṭha tathā satyātmatāṃ gataḥ || 59 ||

English

Just as one is determined to perform future village tasks, do not dwell on mental activities. Thus, one attains the true self.

yathā deśāntaranaro yathā kāṣṭhaṃ yathopalaḥ | tathaiva paśya cittaṃ tvamacittaiava yadātmanā || 60 ||

English

Just as a person from another country, a piece of wood, or a stone, so too should you see the mind as non-mind with the self.

yathā dṛṣadi nāstyambu yathāmbhasyanalas tathā | svātmanyevāsti no cittaṃ paramātmani tatkutaḥ || 61 ||

English

Just as there is no water in a mirage, and no fire in water, so too there is no mind in the self, how then can it be in the supreme self?

English

Whatever is not seen, by that nothing is done anywhere. Knowing that it is not done, one should transcend the mind.

English

Why does the mind of one who is completely devoid of self-awareness follow the ways of the ignorant, but not the ways of the enlightened?

The mind does not exist for me, whether it is past or presently known to be dead. Become resolute, being steadfast like a stone.

Those who follow the false form of the mind, they are engulfed by the single act of killing time.

With a mind free from attachments, be a great soul, be beyond the world, be a pure self. Even after long contemplation, nothing impure is found in the pure self, what is there in the mind?
