jñasy sarvaṃ citaṃ rāma brahmaivāvartate sadā | kalollarormitarangaughairabdherjalamivātmani || 26 ||

There is no greed, no delusion, no desire, no attachment. Who in the self has greed, desire, delusion, or from where?

ātmaivaidaṃ jagatsarvamātmaiva kalanākramaḥ | hemāṅgadatayevāyamātmōdeti manastayā || 32 ||

English

The self alone is this entire world, the self alone is the sequence of time. Like a golden bracelet, the self arises in the form of the mind.

abuddhaṃ yatparaṃ dhāma taccittaṃ jīva ucyate | aparijñāta evāśu bandhurāyātyabandhutām || 33 ||

English

That supreme abode which is not understood is called the mind. The unrecognized one quickly becomes a friend from a non-friend.

cinmayenātmanā'jñena svasaṃkalpanayā svayam | śūnyatā gaganeneva jīvatā prakaṭīkṛtā || 34 ||

English

By the self, which is pure consciousness and ignorant, through its own imagination, emptiness is manifested like the sky with life.

ātmaivānātmavadiha jīvo jagati rājate | dvīndutvamiva durdṛṣṭeḥ saccāsacca samutthitam || 35 ||

English

The self alone appears as non-self in this world. Like the illusion of seeing two moons, both truth and untruth arise.

mohārthaśabdārthadṛśoretyoratyasaṃbhavāt | satyatvādātmanaścaiva kvātmā baddhaḥ kva mucyate || 36 ||

English

Due to the impossibility of the perception of the meaning of delusion and the meaning of words, and due to the reality of the Self, where is the Self bound, and where is it liberated?

nityāsaṃbhavabandhasya baddho'smīti kukalpanā | yasya kālpanikastasya mokṣo mithyā na tattvataḥ || 37 ||

English

The imagination that 'I am bound' is a false conception of an eternal bondage. The liberation of such an imagined bondage is also false, not real.

śrīrāma uvāca | mano yaṃ niścayaṃ yāti tattadbhavati nānyathā | tena kālpaniko nāsti bandhaḥ kathamih prabho || 38 ||

English

Sri Rama said: Whatever the mind firmly believes, that indeed becomes reality, nothing else. Therefore, how can there be an imagined bondage here, O Lord?

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | mithyā kālpanikīveyaṃ mūrkhāṇāṃ bandhakalpanā | mithyaivābhyuditā teṣāmitarā mokṣakalpanā || 39 ||

English

Sri Vasistha said: This imagined bondage is indeed false, a conception of fools. Their conception of liberation is also false, arising from the same falsity.

evamajñānakādeva bandhamokṣadṛśo'smṛteḥ | vastutastu na bandho'sti na mokṣo'stimahāmate || 40 ||

English

Thus, from ignorance alone arise the perceptions of bondage and liberation. In reality, there is neither bondage nor liberation, O great-minded one.

kalpanāyā avastutvaṃ saṃprabuddhamatiṃ prati | rajjvaheriva he prājña tattvabuddhamatiṃ prati || 41 ||

English

The unreality of imagination is understood by the awakened mind, O wise one, just as a rope is mistaken for a snake by the ignorant mind.

bandhamokṣādisaṃmoho na prājñasyāsti kaścana | saṃmohabandhamokṣādi hyajñasyevaāsti rāghava || 42 ||

English

There is no delusion of bondage and liberation for the wise, O Raghava. Such delusions exist only for the ignorant.

ādau manastadanu bandhavimokṣadṛṣṭī paścātprapañcaracanā bhuvanābhidhānā | ityādikā sthitiriyam hi gatā pratiṣṭhāmākhyāyikā subhaga bālajanoditeva || 43 ||

English

First, the mind, then the view of bondage and liberation, followed by the creation of the universe and the naming of worlds. This is the established order, O beautiful one, like a story told by children.
