na hṛṣyanti na kupyanti nāviśantyāharanti ca | udvijante'pi no lokāllokānnodvejayanti ca || 2 ||
They do not rejoice, nor do they get angry, nor do they get attached, nor do they take anything. They are not disturbed by the world, nor do they disturb the world.
na nāstikyānna cāstikyātkṣṭānuṣṭhānavaidikāḥ | manojñamadhurācārāḥ priyapeśalavādinaḥ || 3 ||
They are neither atheists nor theists, they perform difficult Vedic rituals, their behavior is pleasant and sweet, and they speak in a loving and gentle manner.
Their behavior does not cause distress, they are like relatives to all, externally they behave equally with everyone, internally they are cool towards all things.
Those who are delighted in the essence of scriptures, knowers of that knowledge, aware of the highest and lowest worlds, understand what is to be abandoned and accepted, and act according to their nature.
Those who refrain from opposing actions, are connoisseurs, situated among good people, with uncovered fragrance, enjoying the bliss of the supreme state.
They are cool and affectionate like clouds in the rainy season, wise, causing the destruction of the earth's burden, and distressed by the destruction of the country.
Those virtuous mountains standing on the shore are capable of stopping that | In the calamities of the destruction of intellect, in the turbulent waves
Having reached the inner essence, one should not remain like a worm in a hole. Even if there is only one good quality, one should abandon everything else for it.
One should ignore the faults of others to that extent. From childhood, one should strive to understand the qualities and faults through one's own efforts.
One should gradually remove gross faults, which are not easily eradicated. They can transform from pleasant to unpleasant, and from stable to unstable.
Due to the influence of place and time, even great calamities caused by sins are seen. One should abandon all actions and associate with good people. This action is unimpeded and leads to the attainment of both worlds.
na sajjanāddūrataraḥ kvacidbhavēdbhajēt sādhūnvīnayakriyānvitaḥ | spṛśantyayatnēna hi tatsamīpagaṃ visāriṇastadgatapuṣparēṇavaḥ || 24 ||
One should never be far from good people. One should serve the virtuous with humility and respect. Even without effort, the breeze carries the pollen of flowers to those who are near.
