The vibration of consciousness holds the inner world like an imagined city in the heart. Indeed, that itself is the world, just as the imagined city is.
The formless (amūrto) in the form (mūrtam) of space (ākaśe), the sound (śabdāḍambara) in the form of wind (mānilaḥ), just as (yathā) the vibration (spanda) expands (tanoti), so does (evaṃ) the will (icchā) of Shiva (śiva) create (kurute) the world (jagat).
When (yadā) she dances (nṛtyanti) there (tatra), in that (tathā) supreme (parā) garment (ambare), with the union (yogena) of the crow (kāka) and the palm tree (tālīya), by herself (svayam) she becomes (bhavati) full of passion (saṃrambha).
Shiva (śivaḥ), who is near (nikaṭasthaḥ), is touched (spṛṣṭaḥ) by her, as if (manāk) by a whirlwind (abhramantikam). The submarine fire (vāḍavo'gniḥ) carries (vahanti) itself (eva) to its own destruction (svanāśāya) with a watery line (ambulekhayā).
Having merely touched (spṛṣṭamātre) that Shiva (śive), the supreme cause (paramakāraṇe), she (sā) is inclined (pravṛttā) to go (gantuṃ) to nature (prakṛtiṃ) gradually (śanaiḥ) in that manner (tathā).
Having abandoned (tyaktvā) the infinite form (anantākāratāṃ), she (sā) becomes (saṃpannā) the essence of the mountain (girimātrikā). Then (tataḥ) she becomes (saṃpannā) the essence of the city (nagaramātrāsau). Then (tataśca) she becomes (saṃpannā) the beautiful tree (drumasundarī).
Due to the nature of pure consciousness alone, and by the union like that of a crow and a palm fruit, the goddess of consciousness, having touched Shiva, becomes one with him || 18 ||
āpagā hi payomātraṃ saṅge arṇava eva sā | yadā tadā tam evāśu prāpya tatraiva līyate || 20 ||
Indeed, the river, which is merely water, merges into the ocean upon contact | At that very moment, having quickly reached it, she dissolves into it || 20 ||
The desire of Shiva, that is, the divine will, is fulfilled by reaching Him alone. Just as a sharp-edged sword becomes calm when it reaches the stone at its place of origin.
That which is of the form of the liberation of consciousness, the supreme state of nature, having attained that, one obtains the state of the ocean like a river.
As long as one is under the influence of delusion, the consciousness wanders in the confused states of existence in various births. Until one sees the supreme, and having seen it, one immediately merges into it, like a bee into a lotus.
Who, having attained the essence of the self, would abandon it? Having experienced it, who would give up the elixir? By which all continuous sufferings of birth, death, and delusion are pacified, O Rama.
