anākṛter niravayavasthites tadā tathā'bhavād vimalacidambarātmanaḥ | jaganti tāny avayavajālakāni me yathā svato na vigalitā na vastutā || 5 ||
At that time, being uncreated and without parts, I existed as the pure sky of consciousness. The worlds, which are networks of parts, did not dissolve nor did they have reality.
From the perspective of this evolved vision, there is no distinction between the knower, the known, and the knowledge. There is only the unity of consciousness.
The divine vision, situated in the mountains, perceives the states of beings even millions of miles away, both outside and inside. Thus, I am enlightened.
Just as the earth contains treasures, minerals, and essences, so too the self is known to be non-different from that, not perceivable as anything else.
Vasistha said: She, reciting the same Arya verses, with the same humility, appeared before me with a sky-like body, as if a goddess standing in the sky.
yathaiva tattathaivedaṃ tathaivedaṃ yathaiva tat | asatsattāmiva gate saccāsadiva ca sthitam || 28 ||
Just as that is so, so is this. Just as this is so, so is that. It is as if non-existence has gone, and existence and non-existence are both established.
Just as in a dream, people experience the tumult and coming and going of battle, even though they are non-existent. Similarly, the multitudes of the world are experienced.
O Raghava, that beloved of mine, who is always with me, having made her consciousness one with mine, asked this question in the form of the visible world.
yathā svapnajagadrūpaṃ kham evaivam idaṃ jagat | jāgradādau sa hi svapnaḥ sargādau jagadudbhavaḥ || 38 ||
Just as the dream world is like the sky, so is this world. Indeed, the dream arises in the waking state, and the world arises in creation.
svapno'yaṃ jagadābhogo na kiṃcid vā kham eva ca | nirmalaṃ jñaptitāmātram itthaṃ sanmātrasaṃsthitam || 39 ||
This worldly experience is like a dream, or perhaps nothing at all, just like the sky. It is pure, merely a cognition, thus existing as mere reality.
There is a perceiver of the dream, embodied, starting with you. However, the perceiver of the cosmic dream is the pure, stainless consciousness itself.
How can the dream, which spontaneously arises in the heart of the formless consciousness, have a form? From where does the creation of that dream come?
Even though the universe is created by Brahman in the sky of consciousness, it is not really created, like a palace with windows and balconies made of clay.
no kartṛtā na ca jaganti na bhoktṛtāsti nāstīti nāsti na ca kiṃcidato budhaḥ san pāṣāṇamaunamavalambya yathāpravāhamācāramācara śarīramihāstu mā vā o || 46 ||
There is no doer, no world, no enjoyer, nothing exists, nothing at all. Therefore, the wise one, relying on the silence of a stone, should act according to the natural flow. Whether the body remains or not, it does not matter.
