vipashchiduvācha etasminnantare vyomnaḥ sa patanpuruṣo mayā sthamitākhilabhūpīṭhaḥ śavarūpo vilokitaḥ || 1 ||
Vipashchit said, 'In this interval, I saw a man falling from the sky, motionless on the entire earth, in the form of a corpse.'
विपश्चिदुवाच, 'इस बीच मैंने एक व्यक्ति को आकाश से गिरते देखा, जो पूरी पृथ्वी पर स्थिर है, एक शव के रूप में।'
स यावदुदराभिख्यो देहभागोऽस्य येन भूः सप्तद्वीपापि पिहिताऽमातुः शैलोपमो महान् || २ ||
sa yāvadudarābhiakhyo dehabhāgo'sya yena bhūḥ saptadvīpāpi pihitā'mātuḥ śailopamo mahān || 2 ||
His body part, known as the abdomen, by which the earth with its seven continents is covered, is like a great mountain.
उसके शरीर का वह भाग जो उदर कहलाता है, जिससे सात द्वीपों वाली पृथ्वी ढंकी हुई है, एक महान पर्वत के समान है।
वह्निनोक्तमनन्तं तत्तद्भुजोरुशिरश्च मे लोकालोकात्परं पारं प्राप्तं ह्यविषये नृणाम् || ३ ||
vahninoktamanantaṃ tattadbhujoruśiraśca me lokālokātparaṃ pāraṃ prāptaṃ hyaviṣaye nṛṇām || 3 ||
That endless thing spoken by the fire, his mighty arms and head, have reached beyond the Lokāloka, which is beyond the realm of humans.
अग्नि द्वारा कहा गया वह अनन्त वस्तु, उसके मजबूत भुजाएं और सिर, लोकालोका से परे पहुंच गए हैं, जो मनुष्यों के क्षेत्र से परे है।
व्योमवासिचये देवीमथ स्तुवति सादरम् व्योम्नः प्रकटतामागाच्छुष्का नु भवति स्वयम् || ४ ||
vyomavāsicaye devīmatha stuvati sādaram vyomnaḥ prakaṭatāmāgācchuṣkā nu bhavati svayam || 4 ||
In the assembly of the sky-dwellers, she then respectfully praises the goddess, and the sky itself becomes manifest, becoming dry by itself.
आकाशवासियों की सभा में, वह फिर सम्मानपूर्वक देवी की स्तुति करती है, और आकाश स्वयं ही प्रकट हो जाता है, स्वयं ही सूख जाता है।
प्रेतवृन्दैरनुगता मातृमण्डललालिता कुम्भाण्डयक्षवेतालजालतारकिताम्बरा || ५ ||
pretavṛndairanugatā mātṛmaṇḍalalālitā kumbhāṇḍayakṣavetālajālatārakitāmbarā || 5 ||
She is followed by a group of ghosts, adorned by the circle of mothers, and her garments are adorned with the net of Kumbhāṇḍa, Yakṣa, and Vetāla.
वह भूतों के समूह द्वारा अनुगत है, मातृमण्डल से अलंकृत है, और उसके वस्त्र कुम्भाण्ड, यक्ष और वेताल के जाल से सजे हुए हैं।

The one who is adorned with a long staff, scattering rays of light that burn in all directions, gazing at the sun.
जो लंबे दंड से सुशोभित है, जो सभी दिशाओं में जलती किरणों को बिखेरता है, सूर्य की ओर देखता है।
स्फुरन्नानायुधाकारकचज्झणज्झणध्वनिशतखण्डं खगानीकं कुर्वाणा व्योमकोटरे || ७ ||
sphurannānāyudhākārakacajjhaṇajhaṇadhvaniśatakhaṇḍaṃ khagānīkaṃ kurvāṇā vyomakoṭare || 7 ||
Shining with various weapons, making a sound like the clanging of bells, creating a multitude of birds in the sky.
विभिन्न अस्त्रों से चमकता हुआ, घंटियों की आवाज की तरह ध्वनि करता हुआ, आकाश में पक्षियों की भीड़ बनाता हुआ।
देहज्वालेक्षणोष्माड्यैः शरीरावयवैस्त्विषःदीर्घवेणुवनाकाराः किरन्ती कोटियोजनाः || ८ ||
dehajvālekṣaṇoṣmāḍhyaiḥ śarīrāvayavaistviṣaḥdīrghaveṇuvanākārāḥ kirantī koṭiyojanāḥ || 8 ||
With the radiance of the body, the heat of the eyes, and the limbs resembling long bamboo stalks, spreading over millions of yojanas.
शरीर की चमक, आँखों की गर्मी, और लंबे बाँस के तनों जैसे अंगों के साथ, करोड़ों योजन तक फैला हुआ।
दन्तकान्तीन्दुविद्योतदुग्धस्नपितदिङ्मुखाकृशातिदीर्घविस्तीर्णशरीरापूरिताम्बरा || ९ ||
dantakāntīnduvidyotadugdhasnapitadiṅmukhākṛśātidīrghavistīrṇaśarīrāpūritāmbarā || 9 ||
With teeth shining like the moon, a face anointed with milk, a very thin and extremely long and broad body filling the sky.
दाँतों की चमक चाँद की तरह, दूध से स्नान किया हुआ चेहरा, बहुत पतला और अत्यंत लंबा और चौड़ा शरीर आकाश भर रहा है।
निरालम्बास्पदा सान्ध्या विततेवाभ्रमालिकाप्रेतासनसमारूढा सुरूढा परमे पदे || १० ||
nirālambāspadā sāṃdhyā vitatevābhramālikāpretāsanasamārūḍhā surūḍhā parame pade || 10 ||
Without support, in the twilight, spreading like a garland of clouds, seated on a ghostly throne, firmly established in the supreme state.
बिना सहारे, संध्या के समय, बादलों की माला की तरह फैला हुआ, भूत के सिंहासन पर बैठा हुआ, परम अवस्था में दृढ़ता से स्थापित।
स्फुरन्ती प्रज्वलद्रूपा संध्या जलधरारुणादधाना गगनाम्भोधौ वाडवज्वलनश्रियम् || ११ ||
sphurantī prajvaladrūpā saṃdhyā jaladharāruṇādadhānā gaganāmbhodhau vāḍavajvalanaśriyam || 11 ||
The twilight, shining brightly, appearing like a blazing fire, taking the hue of the red clouds, and bestowing the glory of the submarine fire on the sky and the ocean.
संध्या, चमकदार और आग की तरह दिखाई देती है, लाल बादलों के रंग को धारण करती है, और आकाश और समुद्र पर पाताल की अग्नि की शोभा देती है।
शवैः शवाङ्गैर्मुसलैः प्रासतोमरमुद्गरैःवृसिकोलूखलहलैः किरन्ती चञ्चला स्रजः || १२ ||
śavaiḥ śavāṅgairmusalaiḥ prāsatomaramudgaraiḥvṛsikolūkhalahalaiḥ kirantī cañcalā srajaḥ || 12 ||
With corpses and parts of corpses, with pestles, spears, axes, and mortars, she scatters the moving garlands.

Carrying the people with the noise of clattering, she roars in the sky with the sound of thunder, like a mountain during the rainy season.
लोगों को खड़खड़ाहट की आवाज के साथ ले जाते हुए, वह आकाश में गरजती है, जैसे वर्षा ऋतु में एक पर्वत।
देवा ऊचुरयं देवि उपहारीकृतोऽम्बिकेसार्धं स्वपरिवारेण शीघ्रमाह्रियतामिति || १४ ||
devā ūcurayaṃ devi upahārīkṛto'mbikesārdhaṃ svaparivāreṇa śīghramāhriyatāmiti || 14 ||
The gods said, 'O Goddess, O Ambika, you have been offered. Quickly bring her along with your retinue.'
देवताओं ने कहा, 'हे देवी, हे अम्बिके, तुम्हें अर्पित किया गया है। तुरंत अपने परिवार के साथ उसे ले आओ।'
वदत्येवं सुरानीके तं शवं प्राणवायुनादेवी प्रववृते रक्तसारमाक्रष्टुमञ्जसा || १५ ||
vadatyevaṃ surānīke taṃ śavaṃ prāṇavāyunādevī pravavṛte raktasāramākraṣṭumañjasā || 15 ||
While speaking thus in the army of the gods, the goddess, with the breath of life, easily drew that corpse, which was full of blood.
देवताओं की सेना में ऐसा कहते हुए, देवी ने जीवन की साँस के साथ, आसानी से उस शव को खींचा, जो रक्त से भरा हुआ था।
प्राणेनाकृष्यमाणं तद्रक्तं भगवतीमुखे अविशत्सांध्यमेघौघ इव मेरोर्गुहान्तरम् || १६ ||
prāṇenākṛṣyamāṇaṃ tadraktaṃ bhagavatīmukhe aviśatsāndhyameghaugha iva merorguhāntaram || 16 ||
The blood, drawn by the vital air, entered the mouth of the Goddess, like the evening cloud entering the cave of Mount Meru.
प्राण द्वारा खींचा गया वह रक्त भगवती के मुख में प्रवेश कर गया, जैसे संध्या का बादल मेरु पर्वत की गुफा में प्रवेश करता है।
तावद्रक्तं तया पीतं प्राणाकृष्टं नभःस्थया यावच्छुष्का सती तृप्ता पीना सा चंडिका स्थिता || १७ ||
tāvadraktaṃ tayā pītaṃ prāṇākṛṣṭaṃ nabhaḥsthayā yāvacchuṣkā satī tṛptā pīnā sā caṃḍikā sthitā || 17 ||
The blood drawn by the vital air was drunk by the Goddess, who was in the sky, until she, being dry, was satisfied and became full.
प्राण द्वारा खींचा गया रक्त आकाश में स्थित भगवती ने पीया, जब तक वह सूखी हो गई और तृप्त हो गई और भर गई।
ततो बभूव सा रक्तपरिपीनशरीरिणी रक्ता वर्षाभ्रमालेव तडित्तरललोचना || १८ ||
tato babhūva sā raktaparipīnaśarīriṇī raktā varṣābharamāle va tadittaralalocanā || 18 ||
Then she became one with a body filled with blood, red like a garland of rain clouds, with eyes flickering like lightning.
तब वह रक्त से भरे शरीर वाली हो गई, जैसे वर्षा के बादलों की माला, जिसकी आँखें बिजली की तरह चमक रही थीं।
लम्बोदरा भगवती विषमाहिविभूषणा रक्तासवमदक्षीबा समस्तायुधधारिणी || १९ ||
lambodarā bhagavatī viṣamāhivibhūṣaṇā raktāsavamadakṣībā samastāyudhadhāriṇī || 19 ||
The Goddess, with a hanging belly, adorned with various serpents, intoxicated with blood-like wine, holding all weapons.
भगवती, जिसका पेट लटका हुआ था, विविध सर्पों से अलंकृत, रक्त के समान मदिरा से मतवाली, सभी अस्त्र-शस्त्रों से सुशोभित।
व्योम्नि नर्तनमारेभे स्वशरीरार्धपूरिते पर्यन्तगिरिमालाग्रस्थितामरनिरीक्षिता || २० ||
vyomni nartanamārebe svaśarīrārdhapūrite paryantagirimālāgrasthitāmaranirīkṣitā || 20 ||
She began to dance in the sky, her body half-filled, watched by the gods standing on the peaks of the surrounding mountains.
वह आकाश में नृत्य करने लगी, उसका शरीर आधा भरा हुआ था, जिसे चारों ओर के पर्वतों की चोटियों पर खड़े देवताओं द्वारा देखा जा रहा था।
ततः पिशाचकुम्भाण्डरूपिकादिमहागणाः | शवमावारयांचक्रुर्महाचलमिवाऽम्बुदाः || २१ ||
tataḥ piśācakumbhāṇḍarūpikādimahāgaṇāḥ | śavamāvārayāñcakrurmahācalamivā'mbudāḥ || 21 ||
Then the great hosts of Pishachas, Kumbhandas, Rupikas, and others surrounded the corpse like clouds surrounding a great mountain.
तब पिशाच, कुम्भाण्ड, रूपिका आदि महागण उस शव को घेरने लगे, जैसे बादल किसी महान पर्वत को घेरते हैं।
शवशैलो गृहीतोऽसौ कुम्भाण्डैः कटिभागतः | उदराद्रूपिकावृन्दैर्यक्षैः कुञ्जरविक्षतैः || २२ ||
śavaśailo gṛhīto'sau kumbhāṇḍaiḥ kaṭibhāgataḥ | udarādrūpikāvṛndairyakṣaiḥ kuñjaravikṣataiḥ || 22 ||
That corpse-mountain was seized by the Kumbhandas from the waist, by the Rupikas from the belly, and by the Yakshas who were as strong as elephants.
वह शव-पर्वत कुम्भाण्डों द्वारा कमर से, रूपिकाओं द्वारा पेट से, और हाथियों के समान बलशाली यक्षों द्वारा पकड़ा गया।
भुजोरुकन्धराद्यास्ते तस्यान्येऽवयवा यतः | ब्रह्माण्डस्य परं पारं प्राप्ताः परमविस्तृताः || २३ ||
bhujorukanndharādyāste tasyānye'vayavā yataḥ | brahmāṇḍasya paraṃ pāraṃ prāptāḥ paramavistṛtāḥ || 23 ||
The other limbs of that corpse, such as the arms, thighs, and neck, reached the farthest extent of the universe, being greatly extended.
उस शव के अन्य अंग, जैसे भुजाएँ, जाँघें, और गर्दन, ब्रह्माण्ड की अन्तिम सीमा तक पहुँच गए, बहुत विस्तृत होकर।
ततस्तैर्भूतसंघातैः स्थिता दूरे दिगन्तरे | न प्राप्ता वै हि तत्रैव कालेन कलिताः स्वयम् || २४ ||
tatastairbhūtasaṃghātaiḥ sthitā dūre digantare | na prāptā vai hi tatraiva kālena kalitāḥ svayam || 24 ||
Then, those groups of beings stood far away in different directions, not reaching there even after a long time, being shaken by time itself.
तब, वे भूत समूह दूर अलग-अलग दिशाओं में खड़े हो गए, लम्बे समय के बाद भी वहाँ नहीं पहुँच पाए, समय के द्वारा हिलाए जाने के कारण।
नृत्यन्त्यां चण्डिकायां खे भूतवृन्दे शवाकुले | देवेष्वद्रिषु तिष्ठत्सु बभूव भुवनं तदा || २५ ||
nṛtyantyāṃ caṇḍikāyāṃ khe bhūtavṛnde śavākule | deveṣvadriṣu tiṣṭhatsu babhūva bhuvanaṃ tadā || 25 ||
While Chandika was dancing in the sky, and the hosts of beings were agitated around the corpse, and the gods were standing on the mountains, the universe was filled with wonder at that time.
जब चण्डिका आकाश में नृत्य कर रही थी, और भूतों के समूह शव के चारों ओर व्याकुल थे, और देवता पर्वतों पर खड़े थे, तब उस समय ब्रह्माण्ड आश्चर्य से भर गया।
पिण्डाहार्यामदुर्गन्धिगुण्ठीकृतककुब्गणम् | रक्तगर्भाभ्रनिर्व्यूहैः खादिरज्वलनोज्ज्वलम् || २६ ||
piṇḍāhāryāmadurgandhiguṇṭhīkṛtakakubgaṇam | raktagarbhābhranirvyūhaiḥ khādirajvalanojjvalam || 26 ||
The army of demons, with their mouths filled with foul-smelling food, shining with the blazing fire of Khadira wood and the red clouds of their entrails.
राक्षसों की सेना, जिनके मुंह में दुर्गन्ध युक्त भोजन भरा हुआ है, खैर की लकड़ी की आग से चमक रही है और उनके अंतड़ियों के लाल बादलों से घिरी हुई है।
मांसचर्वणसंरम्भप्रोद्यच्छवशवस्वनम् | लतास्थिखण्डनोड्डीनबृहत्कटकटारवम् || २७ ||
māṃsacarvaṇasaṃrambhaprodyacchavaśavasvanam | latāsthikhaṇḍanoḍḍīnabṛhatkaṭakaṭāravam || 27 ||
The sound of the demons chewing flesh with great enthusiasm, the loud noise of breaking bones and tendons, and the immense clattering sound.
राक्षसों का मांस चबाने का शब्द, हड्डियों और तंत्रों को तोड़ने का भारी शोर और विशाल खड़खड़ाहट का शब्द।
भूतसंघट्टविश्लेषवशाद्भीषणनिःस्वनम् | हिमवद्विन्ध्यशैलाद्रिप्रमाणास्थ्यचलावृतम् || २८ ||
bhūtasaṃghaṭṭaviśleṣavaśād bhīṣaṇaniḥsvanam | himavadvindhyaśailādripramāṇāsthyacalāvṛtam || 28 ||
The terrifying sound of the collision and separation of the demons, covered with bones as large as the Himalayas and Vindhya mountains.
राक्षसों के टकराने और अलग होने का भयानक शब्द, जो हिमालय और विन्ध्य पर्वतों जितनी बड़ी हड्डियों से ढका हुआ है।

The ground cooked by the flames from the mouth of the goddess, stained with the red blood of the demons, resembling a cloud of blood droplets.
देवी के मुख से निकलने वाली आग की लपटों से पका हुआ भूमि, राक्षसों के रक्त से रंगी हुई, जो रक्त की बूँदों के बादल जैसा दिखाई देता है।
सर्वतः प्रेक्षकैर्देवैः सप्राकारदिगन्तरम् | रुधिरैकार्णवीभूतसप्तद्वीपवसुन्धरम् || ३० ||
sarvataḥ prekṣakairdevaiḥ saprākāradigantaram | rudhiraikārṇavībhūtasaptadvīpavasundharam || 30 ||
Surrounded by gods as spectators from all directions, the earth with its seven continents has become a single ocean of blood.
सभी दिशाओं से देवताओं द्वारा देखे जाने वाले सात द्वीपों वाली पृथ्वी रक्त के एक समुद्र में बदल गई है।
अत्यन्तान्तर्हिताशेषसमस्ताचलमण्डलम् | रक्तप्रभाभ्रसंभारवस्त्रावृतदिगङ्गनम् || ३१ ||
atyantāntarhitāśeṣasamastācalamaṇḍalam | raktaprabhābhrasaṃbhāravastrāvṛtadigaṅganam || 31 ||
The entire range of mountains is completely hidden, and the sky is covered with a garment of clouds that have a reddish glow.
सम्पूर्ण पर्वत श्रृंखला पूर्णतः छिपी हुई है, और आकाश लालिमा युक्त बादलों के वस्त्र से ढका हुआ है।
वृत्तालोलभुजभ्रान्तहेतिच्छन्ननभस्तलम् | दूरस्मृतिपथप्राप्तपुरपत्तनमण्डलम् || ३२ ||

The sky is obscured by the whirling, circular motion of weapons, and the distant memory of the path leads to the city and its surroundings.
आकाश घूमते हुए हथियारों की चक्रीय गति से ढका हुआ है, और दूर की स्मृति का मार्ग शहर और उसके आसपास के क्षेत्र तक ले जाता है।
अत्यन्तासंभवद्रूपसर्वस्थावरजंगमम् | संपन्नानन्तकुम्भाण्डरूपिकाद्येकसंगमम् || ३३ ||
atyantāsaṃbhavadrūpasarvasthāvarajaṅgamam | saṃpannānantakuṃbhāṇḍarūpikādyekasaṃgamam || 33 ||
All beings, both moving and stationary, are endowed with an extremely rare form, and they are united in the form of an infinite pot.
सभी चराचर प्राणी एक अत्यन्त दुर्लभ रूप से युक्त हैं, और वे एक अनन्त घड़े के रूप में एकजुट हैं।
नृत्तलोककराकारखगावलनजालकैःमानसूत्रैरिव विधेरन्यद्रचयतो जगत् || ३४ ||
nṛttalokakarākārakhagāvalanajālakaiḥmānasūtrairiva vidheranyadracayato jagat || 34 ||
The world is being created anew by the Lord, as if with the threads of the mind, with the dancing forms of birds and the swaying nets of vines.
संसार प्रभु द्वारा नया बनाया जा रहा है, मानो मन के धागों से, पक्षियों के नृत्य रूपों और लताओं के लहराते जालों के साथ।
भूमेरार्कगतं नीतैः पिशाचैरान्त्रतन्तुभिः | मिमानमिव दिक्कुञ्जैस्तिर्यगूर्ध्वमधो जगत् || ३५ ||
bhūmerārkagataṃ nītaiḥ piśācairāntratantubhiḥ | mimānamiva dikkuñjaisirtyagūrdhvamadho jagat || 35 ||
The world is measured as if by the rays of the sun, guided by the threads of the intestines of demons, extending in all directions—horizontal, upward, and downward.
दुनिया मानो सूर्य की किरणों द्वारा मापी गई है, जो राक्षसों की आंतों के धागों द्वारा मार्गदर्शित है, जो सभी दिशाओं में फैली हुई है—क्षैतिज, ऊपर, और नीचे।
जगदालोक्य तत्तादृगुदक्तोपप्लवाप्लुतम् | भूतपूर्वमहीपीठस्थितिरक्तार्णवीकृतम् || ३६ ||
jagadālokya tattādṛgudaktopaplavāplutam | bhūtapūrvamahīpīṭhasthitiraktārṇavīkṛtam || 36 ||
Seeing the world submerged in the great deluge, the gods, tired, stood on the summit of the Lokāloka mountain, which was surrounded by the seven islands.
जगत को महान प्रलय में डूबा हुआ देखकर, थके हुए देवता सात द्वीपों से घिरे लोकालोक पर्वत के शिखर पर खड़े थे।
द्वीपसप्तकपर्यन्ते लोकालोकाद्रिमूर्धनि | तदङ्गकैरनाक्रान्ते स्थिताः खिन्नतराः सुराः || ३७ ||
dvīpasaptakaparyante lokālokādrimūrdhani | tadaṅgakairanākrānte sthitāḥ khinnatarāḥ surāḥ || 37 ||
The gods, extremely tired, stood on the summit of the Lokāloka mountain, which is surrounded by the seven islands, with their limbs not moving.
देवता, बहुत थके हुए, सात द्वीपों से घिरे लोकालोक पर्वत के शिखर पर अपने अंगों को न हिलाते हुए खड़े थे।
श्रीराम उवाच | ब्रह्माण्डादपि निर्गत्य यस्य तेऽवयवा गताः | लोकालोकाचलस्तेन ब्रह्मन्न स्थगितः कथम् || ३८ ||
śrīrāma uvāca | brahmāṇḍādapi nirgatya yasya te'vayavā gatāḥ | lokālokācalastena brahmanna sthagitaḥ katham || 38 ||
Sri Rama said: How is the Lokāloka mountain, whose parts have gone beyond the Brahmanda, not obstructed, O Brahman?
श्री राम ने कहा: हे ब्रह्मन्, ब्रह्माण्ड से परे जाने वाले उस लोकालोक पर्वत के अंग, जिनके अवयव गए हैं, कैसे नहीं रुके हैं?
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | द्वीपसप्तकमध्येऽस्मिन्राम तस्योदरं स्थितम् | शिरःखुरभुजाद्यङ्गं ब्रह्माण्डात्परतः स्थितम् || ३९ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | dvīpasaptakamadhye'sminrāma tasyodaraṃ sthitam | śiraḥkhurabhujādyaṅgaṃ brahmāṇḍātparataḥ sthitam || 39 ||
Vasishtha said: O Rama, the belly of that (Lokāloka mountain) is situated in the midst of the seven islands, and its head, hooves, arms, and other limbs are situated beyond the Brahmanda.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: हे राम, उस (लोकालोक पर्वत) का उदर सात द्वीपों के बीच स्थित है, और उसका सिर, खुर, भुजाएँ और अन्य अंग ब्रह्माण्ड से परे स्थित हैं।
पार्श्वाभ्यामूरुमध्याच्च कटिपार्श्वद्वयात्तथा | शिरोंसद्बयमध्याभ्यां लोकालोकः स लक्ष्यते || ४० ||
pārśvābhyāmūrumadhyācca kaṭipārśvadvayāttathā | śiroṃsadbayamadhyābhyāṃ lokālokaḥ sa lakṣyate || 40 ||
The Lokāloka mountain is seen with its sides from the middle of the thighs, from both sides of the waist, and from the middle of the two shoulders and the head.
लोकालोक पर्वत को उरुओं के मध्य से, कटि के दोनों पार्श्वों से, और दोनों कंधों और सिर के मध्य से देखा जाता है।
तत्रोपविष्टास्ते देवा लक्ष्यन्ते श्रृङ्गमूर्धसु | सुशुद्धकान्तयस्तापादजला जलदा इव || ४१ ||
tatropaviṣṭāste devā lakṣyante śr̥ṅgamūrdhasu | suśuddhakāntayastāpādajalā jaladā iva || 41 ||
There, the gods are seen seated on the mountain peaks, pure and radiant like clouds with water dripping from their feet.
वहाँ, देवताओं को पर्वत की चोटियों पर बैठे हुए देखा जाता है, जिनके पैरों से पानी टपकता है और वे बादलों की तरह पवित्र और चमकीले दिखाई देते हैं।
प्रसारिताङ्गकमधो वक्रं तत्पतितं शवम् | संभक्षयति भूतौघे प्रनृत्यन्तीषु मातृषु || ४२ ||
prasāritāṅgakamadho vakraṃ tatpatitaṃ śavam | saṃbhakṣayati bhūtaughe pranṛtyantīṣu mātṛṣu || 42 ||
Below the outstretched limbs, the crooked corpse falls, being devoured by ghosts while the mothers dance.
फैले हुए अंगों के नीचे, टेढ़ा शव गिरता है, जो भूतों द्वारा खाया जाता है जबकि मातृएं नृत्य करती हैं।
वहत्स्वसृक्प्रवाहेषु मेदोगन्धे विजृम्भिते | दुःखिताश्चिन्तयामासुः प्रत्येकममरा इदम् || ४३ ||
vahatsvasṛkpravāheṣu medogandhe vijṛmbhite | duḥkhitāścintayāmāsuḥ pratyekamamarā idam || 43 ||
In the flowing streams of blood and the stench of fat, the gods, distressed, thought individually about this.
रक्त की बहती धाराओं और चर्बी की दुर्गंध में, देवताओं ने दुःखी होकर अलग-अलग इसके बारे में सोचा।
हा कष्टं क्व गता पृथ्वी क्व गता जलराशयः | क्व गता जनसंघाताः क्व गता धरणीधराः || ४४ ||
hā kaṣṭaṃ kva gatā pṛthvī kva gatā jalarāśayaḥ | kva gatā janasaṃghātāḥ kva gatā dharṇīdharaḥ || 44 ||
Alas, what misfortune! Where has the earth gone? Where have the reservoirs of water gone? Where have the gatherings of people gone? Where have the mountains gone?
हाय, क्या दुःख! पृथ्वी कहाँ गई? जल के भंडार कहाँ गए? जनसमूह कहाँ गए? पर्वत कहाँ गए?
तादृक्चन्दनमन्दारकदम्बवनमण्डितः | मण्डपः पुष्पराशीनां कष्टं क्व मलयो गतः || ४५ ||
tādṛkcaṃdanaṃmandārakadambavanaṃmaṇḍitaḥ | maṇḍapaḥ puṣparāśīnāṃ kaṣṭaṃ kva malayo gataḥ || 45 ||
Alas, where has the beautiful pavilion gone, adorned with sandalwood, mandara, and kadamba forests, and filled with flower-bearing trees?
हाय, कहाँ गया वह सुंदर मण्डप, जो चंदन, मंदार और कदंब के वनों से सजा हुआ था और फूलों से भरा था?
उच्चावदाता विपुला हिमवद्भूमयोऽपि ताःनीताः शौक्ल्यरुषेवाशु रुधिरेणात्मपङ्कताम् || ४६ ||
uccāvadātā vipulā himavadbhūmayo'pi tāḥnītāḥ śauklyaruṣevāśu rudhireṇātmapaṅkatām || 46 ||
The lofty mountains, though vast and snow-covered, were quickly brought down to a state of blood-redness.
उच्च पर्वत, यद्यपि विशाल और बर्फ से ढके हुए थे, जल्दी ही खून से लाल हो गए।
क्रौञ्चद्वीपतले क्रौञ्चे योऽभूत्कल्पद्रुमो महान्ब्रह्मलोकलसच्छाखः सोऽपि चूर्णत्वमागतः || ४७ ||
krauñcadvīpatale krauñce yo'bhūtkalpadrumo mahānbrahmalokalasacchākhaḥ so'pi cūrṇatvamāgataḥ || 47 ||
On the island of Krauncha, there was a great wish-fulfilling tree with branches reaching Brahmaloka, which also turned to dust.
क्रौंच द्वीप पर, एक महान इच्छा-पूर्ति वृक्ष था जिसकी शाखाएँ ब्रह्मलोक तक पहुँचती थीं, जो भी धूल में बदल गया।
हा क्षीरार्णव पारिजातकमलाचन्द्रामृतानां पते हा दध्यर्णव नावनीतशिखरिप्रोद्भूतवेलावनहा मध्वर्णव नालिकेरगिरिके योगेश्वरीसेवित क्वेदानीं समुपैष्यथ क्व वनिता दिग्दर्पणत्वं गताः || ४८ ||
hā kṣīrārṇava pārijātakamalācandrāmṛtānāṃ pate hā dadhyarṇava nāvanītaśikhariprodbhūtavelāvanahā madhvarṇava nālikeragirike yogeśvarīsevita kvedānīṃ samupaiṣyatha kva vanitā digdarpaṇatvaṃ gatāḥ || 48 ||
Alas, lord of the ocean of milk, Parijata flowers, moon, and nectar! Alas, ocean of curd, from which butter mountains arise! Where have you gone, O mountain of coconut trees, served by Yogesvari, adorned with honey-colored clouds? Where have the proud women gone?
हाय, दूध के समुद्र, पारिजात फूल, चंद्रमा और अमृत के स्वामी! हाय, दही के समुद्र, जिससे मक्खन के पर्वत उठते हैं! तुम कहाँ चले गए, हे नारियल के पेड़ों का पर्वत, जिसकी सेवा योगेश्वरी करती है, शहद के रंग के बादलों से सजा हुआ? वे घमंडी महिलाएँ कहाँ चली गईं?
हा कल्पद्रुमकाञ्चनामललतानिःसंधिबन्धाचल क्रौञ्चद्वीपविरिञ्चहंसनलिनीनीरन्ध्रदिग्जालकयातः क्वेह कदम्बकाननदरीविश्रान्तविद्याधरीक्रीडाकोविदनागरामरगृह त्वं पुष्करद्वीपक || ४९ ||
hā kalpadrumakāñcanāmalalatāniḥsaṃdhibandhācala krauñcadvīpaviriñcahaṃsanalinīnīrandhradigjālakayātaḥ kveha kadambakānanadarīviśrāntavidyādharīkrīḍākovidanāgarāmaragṛha tvaṃ puṣkaradvīpaka || 49 ||
Alas, the golden-crested wish-fulfilling trees, the mountains bound by the ocean, the island of Krauncha with its swans and lotuses, the network of directions and spaces, where have they gone? You, O Pushkaradvipa, with your groves of kadamba trees, where the Vidyadharis rest and play, skilled in the arts of love, where is your abode?
हाय, सुनहरे कल्पवृक्षों की लताएँ, समुद्र से जुड़े पर्वत, क्रौंच द्वीप के हंस और कमल, दिशाओं और स्थानों का जाल, वे कहाँ चले गए? तुम, ओ पुष्करद्वीप, जिसके कदंब के वन हैं, जहाँ विद्याधरियाँ विश्राम करती हैं और प्रेम कला में कुशल हैं, तुम्हारा निवास कहाँ है?
स्वादूदोदग्रतापावलकुसुममहीपावनानां वनानां गोमेधद्वीपकल्पद्रुमकनकलतासुन्दरीणां दरीणांशाकद्वीपाचलानाममरतरुवनैर्दंशितानां सितानां स्मृत्यैवोदेति पुण्यं सुरपदसुखदं मानवानां नवानां || ५० ||
svādūdodagratāpāvalakusumamahīpāvanānāṃ vanānāṃ gomedhadvīpakalpadrumakanakalatāsundarīṇāṃ darīṇāmśākadvīpācalānāmamarataruvanairdaṃśitānāṃ sitānāṃ smṛtyaivodeti puṇyaṃ surapadasukhadaṃ mānavānāṃ navānāṃ || 50 ||
By remembering the sweet-smelling forests of the earth, the beautiful golden-crested wish-fulfilling trees of Gomedha island, the white mountains of Shakadvipa adorned with divine trees, one attains the merit that brings the joy of heaven to new humans.
धरती के सुगंधित वनों, गोमेध द्वीप के सुंदर सुनहरे कल्पवृक्षों, दिव्य वृक्षों से सजे शाकद्वीप के सफेद पर्वतों को याद करके, नए मनुष्यों को स्वर्ग की खुशी देने वाला पुण्य प्राप्त होता है।
मन्दानिलावलितपल्लववालवल्लीसंतानभासितसमस्तदिगन्तराणि | ध्वस्तानि तानि सकलानि वनानि कष्टमाश्वासमेष्यति कथं जनता न जाने || ५१ ||
mandānilāvalitapallavavālavallīsantānabhāsitasamastadigantarāṇi | dhvastāni tāni sakalāni vanāni kaṣṭamāśvāsameṣyati kathaṃ janatā na jāne || 51 ||
All the forests, adorned with tender leaves swaying in the gentle breeze and illuminating all directions, have been destroyed. How will the people find consolation? I do not know.
हवा के मन्द झोंके से झूमते हुए नaye पत्तों से सजे हुए जंगल, जिनकी सुन्दरता से सारे दिशाओं में उज्जवल होती है, वे सब नष्ट हो गए हैं | लोगों को आश्वासन कैसे मिलेगा, यह मैं नहीं जानता |
कदा नु तानीक्षुरसाब्धितीरे वनानि खण्डाचलभूमिकासु | द्रक्ष्येम भूयो गुडमोदकानि तथा कुमाराण्यपि शर्करायाः || ५२ ||
kadā nu tānīkṣurāsābhditīre vanāni khaṇḍācalabhūmikāsu | drakṣyema bhūyo guḍamodakāni tathā kumārāṇyapi śarkarāyāḥ || 52 ||
When will we see again the forests on the rocky hills by the sugarcane ocean shore, the sweet balls of jaggery, and the young girls with their sweetness?
कब फिर हम देखेंगे गन्ने के समुद्र के किनारे पर चट्टानी भूमि पर जंगलों को, गुड़ की मिठाइयों को, और अपनी मिठास के साथ युवतियों को?
कदम्बकल्पद्रुमशीतलेषु तालीतमालीसवनाचलस्य | कदा नु तच्चन्दनसुन्दरीणां पश्येम नृत्तं कनकालयेषु || ५३ ||
kadambakalpadrumashītaleṣu tālītamālīsavānācalasya | kadā nu taccandanasundarīṇāṃ paśyema nṛttaṃ kanakālayeṣu || 53 ||
When will we see the beautiful dance of the sandalwood trees in the cool shade of the Kadamba trees, along with the Tali and Tamarind trees of the forest?
कब हम देखेंगे कदम्ब वृक्षों की ठंडी छाया में चन्दन के सुन्दर वृक्षों का नृत्य, ताली और तमाल वृक्षों के साथ जंगल में?
गतानि कष्टं स्मरणीयरूपतां जम्बूद्रुमस्याग्रफलानि तान्यपि | येषां नदीं द्वीपसमुद्रमेखला वहत्यसौ जम्बुमती रसाम्बुभिः || ५४ ||
gatāni kaṣṭaṃ smaraṇīyarūpatāṃ jambūdrumasyāgraphalāni tānyapi | yeṣāṃ nadīṃ dvīpasamudramekhalā vahatyasau jambumatī rasāmbubhiḥ || 54 ||
It is painful to remember the memorable fruits of the Jambu tree, which are carried away by the river Jambumati, flowing with sweet waters, to the island-ocean belt.
जम्बू वृक्ष के यादगार फलों को याद करना दुःखदायी है, जो मिठास भरी जल की धाराओं से बहती हुई जम्बुमती नदी द्वारा द्वीप समुद्र क्षेत्र में ले जाए जाते हैं।
शिलीन्ध्रनीरन्ध्रमहीध्ररन्ध्रक्षीबामरस्त्रीकृतगीतनृत्यम् | संस्मृत्य संस्मृत्य सुरोदतीरं प्रागब्जमुर्वीव हृदावदीर्ये || ५५ ||
śilīndhranīrandhramahīdhra randhrakṣībāmarastrīkṛtagītanṛtyam | saṃsmṛtya saṃsmṛtya surōdatīraṃ prāgabjamurvīva hṛdāvadīrye || 55 ||
Remembering again and again the divine dance and music of the celestial nymphs in the caves of the mountains, the heart swells with joy like the earth with the first rains.
पर्वतों की गुफाओं में देव अप्सराओं के दिव्य गीत और नृत्य को बार-बार याद करके, हृदय प्रफुल्लित हो उठता है, जैसे पहली वर्षा से भीगी धरती।
पश्यासृगम्भसि नवार्णवमूर्ध्नि भासा सौवर्णपर्वतशताग्रशिखाः कचन्ति | संध्यारुणा उदयनास्तमयावनीनां स्तोकोदितेन्दुकलिका इव दिङ्मुखेषु || ५६ ||
paśyāsṛgambhasi navārṇavamūrdhni bhāsā sauvarṇaparvataśatāgraśikhāḥ kacanti | saṃdhyāruṇā udayanāstamayāvanīnāṃ stokoditendukalikā iva diṅmukheṣu || 56 ||
Behold the blood-red water of the new ocean at its zenith, where the peaks of a hundred golden mountains shine. Like the newly risen crescent moon in the evening twilight, they appear at the horizon of the earth at sunrise and sunset.
देखो नए समुद्र के उत्थान पर रक्तिम जल, जहाँ सौ सुवर्ण पर्वतों की चोटियाँ चमक रही हैं | संध्या के लालिमा में, उदय और अस्त के समय में, वे पृथ्वी के क्षितिज पर नवोदित चंद्रमा की कलिका की तरह दिखाई देती हैं ||
तादृक्सागरवारिराशिवलया द्वीपान्तरालंकृता प्रोच्चाद्रीन्द्रनिविष्टवारिदघटानीलोत्पलानां स्थली | स्रोतोजङ्गलकाननोग्रनगरग्रामाग्रहाराम्बरा नो जाने तरुपल्लवाङ्कुरवती कष्टं क्व याता मही || ५७ ||
tādṛksāgaravārirāśivalayā dvīpāntarālaṅkṛtā proccādrīndraniviṣṭavāridadhaṭānīlotpalānāṃ sthalī | srotojaṅgalakānanogranagaragrāmāgrahārāmbarā no jāne tarupallavāṅkuravatī kaṣṭaṃ kva yātā mahī || 57 ||
Adorned with islands and surrounded by the waves of such an ocean, the land of blue lotuses, filled with high mountains and clouds, is decorated with rivers, forests, fierce cities, villages, and temples. I do not know where the earth, full of trees, leaves, and sprouts, has gone.
ऐसे समुद्र की लहरों से घिरे हुए और द्वीपों से सजे हुए, उच्च पर्वतों और बादलों से भरी नील कमलों की भूमि, नदियों, जंगलों, भयानक नगरों, गाँवों और मंदिरों से सजी हुई है | मुझे नहीं पता कि पेड़ों, पत्तों और अंकुरों से भरी यह पृथ्वी कहाँ चली गई ||
