सहचरा ऊचुः पश्याद्रिसानाविव बिम्बितं स्वं पुरःसरो मारपुरःसरो यः कह्लारपद्मोत्पलजालनालललद्विचित्रारवपक्षिवीतम् || १ ||

sahacarā ūcuḥ paśyādrisānāviva bimbitaṃ svaṃ puraḥsaro mārapuraḥsaro yaḥ kahlārapadmotpalajālanālalaladvicitrāravapakṣivītam || 1 ||

English

The companions said, 'Behold! The lake in front, adorned with lotus flowers, appears like a mirror reflecting the mountain peaks. It is filled with the sweet sounds of various birds.'

सहचर बोले, 'देखो! यह सामने का तालाब, जिसमें कमल के फूल खिले हुए हैं, पर्वत की चोटियों के समान दिखाई देता है। यह विभिन्न पक्षियों के मधुर स्वरों से भरा हुआ है।'

English

The blooming lotus with its thousand petals spread out, the royal swan standing on it, the abode of the lotus-seated one, adorned with serpents and birds, appears like a house on earth.

खिले हुए कमल के हजार पत्तों के साथ, उस पर खड़ा राजहंस, कमलासन का निवास, जिसमें सर्प और पक्षी विराजमान हैं, यह पृथ्वी पर घर के समान दिखाई देता है।

English

In the vast expanse of the sky, filled with the fragrance of blooming lotuses and the melodious songs of intoxicated bees, the scene appears like a canopy carried by the wind.

आकाश के विशाल अंतरिक्ष में, खिले हुए कमल की सुगंध और मदमस्त भौंरों के मधुर गीतों से भरा हुआ, दृश्य एक छतरी के समान दिखाई देता है जो हवा के साथ उड़ता है।

English

Sometimes the waves break with a loud sound, sometimes the bees hum loudly, sometimes the clear water is deep and still, and sometimes the lotus flowers bloom brightly.

कभी लहरें जोर से टूटती हैं, कभी भौंरे जोर से गुंजारते हैं, कभी साफ पानी गहरा और शांत होता है, और कभी कमल के फूल चमकदार रूप से खिलते हैं।

English

The lake with its clear water and pearl-like drops, with beautiful creepers on its banks, and with waves that wash away the harsh rocks, appears like an endless sky on earth.

तालाब का साफ पानी और मोती के समान बूंदें, किनारों पर सुंदर लताएं, और लहरें जो कठोर पत्थरों को धो देती हैं, यह पृथ्वी पर अंतहीन आकाश के समान दिखाई देता है।

English

The lightning illuminates the dark clouds, and the newborn lotus blossoms with its radiant petals. The sky appears like a dark monsoon cloud, with one part illuminated by the glow of the setting sun.

बिजली की चमक से काले बादलों का उदर प्रकाशित होता है, और नवजात कमल के पंखुड़ियों से प्रकाशित होता है। आकाश एक काले वर्षा बादल की तरह दिखता है, जिसका एक हिस्सा सूर्यास्त की चमक से प्रकाशित होता है।

vātāvakīrṇaśaradambudakhaṇḍakhaṇḍaṃ vyomeva kevalasamīraṇamāvṛtāṅgam | hasairlasadvusalatākavalālasāṃsaiḥ kālena saṃcayakṛtairiva candrabimbaaiḥ || 7 ||

English

The autumn clouds, scattered by the wind, cover the sky like a veil of pure air. The laughter of the swaying vines seems to be adorned with moon-like orbs created by the passage of time.

पवन से बिखरे हुए शरद ऋतु के बादल आकाश को शुद्ध वायु की पर्दा की तरह ढंकते हैं। लहराती हुई लताओं की हँसी समय के संचय से बने चंद्रमा-से गोलों से सजी हुई लगती है।

English

The gentle breeze, carrying the fragrance of honey, skillfully scatters the pollen from the lotus buds. The rising sun's rays seem to write a line in the sky, disturbing the flowers that fall from the vines inhabited by birds.

मधु की सुगंध लेकर मंद हवा कुशलतापूर्वक कमल के कली से पराग बिखेरती है। उदय होते सूर्य की किरणें आकाश में एक रेखा खींचती प्रतीत होती हैं, जो पक्षियों द्वारा आश्रित लताओं से गिरने वाले फूलों को विचलित करती हैं।

English

The swaying large lotus petals, adorned with beautiful foam, are shaken by the wind. The sound of the cuckoo's song resonates, and the group of joyful women, adorned with lotus vines, are delighted.

हिन्दी

हवा से हिलते हुए बड़े कमल के पत्ते, सुंदर फेन से सजे हुए, काँप उठते हैं। कोयल के गीत की ध्वनि गूँजती है, और कमल की लताओं से सजी हुई आनंदित स्त्रियों का समूह प्रसन्न होता है।

भृङ्गाग्रभाजनमनोहरहारिगीतं राजीवरेणुरणकीर्णपिशङ्गतोयम् | डिण्डीरपिण्डपरिपाण्डुरपुण्डरीकखण्डोपमण्डिततटोपवनावतंसम् || १० ||

bhṛṅgāgrabhājanamanoharahārigītaṃ rājīvareṇuraṇakīrṇapiśaṅgatoyam | ḍiṇḍīrapiṇḍaparipāṇḍurapuṇḍarīkakhaṇḍopamaṇḍitatato'pavanāvataṃsam || 10 ||

English

The bees hum a charming melody, and the lotus pond is filled with pollen-covered reddish water. The shore is adorned with white lotus petals, resembling the moon's crescent.

भौंरे एक मनोहर गीत गुनगुनाते हैं, और कमल का तालाब पराग-भरे लाल पानी से भरा हुआ है। किनारा चाँद की चाँदनी जैसे सफेद कमल के पंखुड़ियों से सजा हुआ है।

विविक्तहृदयाम्भोजं हृदयाह्लादनं परम् | रसवत्स्वादु भातीदं सरः सत्संगमोपमम् || ११ ||

viviktahṛdayāmbhojaṃ hṛdayāhlādanaṃ param | rasavatsvādu bhātīdaṃ saraḥ satsaṅgamopamam || 11 ||

English

The lotus of the heart, which is pure and gives supreme joy to the heart, appears delightful like the company of the good.

हृदय का कमल, जो शुद्ध है और हृदय को परम आनंद देता है, सत्संग की तरह सुंदर दिखाई देता है।

बिम्बितेन मरुव्योम्ना भातीदं सौम्य निर्मलम् | शास्त्रार्थपरिणामेन महतामिव मानसम् || १२ ||

bimbitena maruvyomnā bhātīdaṃ saumya nirmalam | śāstrārthapariṇāmena mahatāmiva mānasam || 12 ||

English

Reflected in the desert sky, this appears gentle and pure, like the mind of the great ones transformed by the meaning of the scriptures.

मरुस्थल के आकाश में प्रतिबिंबित होकर, यह कोमल और शुद्ध दिखाई देता है, जैसे शास्त्रों के अर्थ से परिवर्तित महान लोगों का मन।

किंचिल्लक्ष्यमपश्यामं पृषत्परुषमारुतम् | हिमाभ्रमिव भातीदं सरः सरससारसम् || १३ ||

kiñcillakṣyamapaśyāmaṃ pṛṣatparuṣamārutam | himābhramiva bhātīdaṃ saraḥ sarasasārasam || 13 ||

English

I saw a small target, a rough and harsh wind, appearing like a cloud of snow, the lake is delightful like a lake.

हिन्दी

मैंने एक छोटा लक्ष्य देखा, एक कठोर और कड़वी हवा, जो बर्फ के बादल की तरह दिखाई देती है, तालाब एक तालाब की तरह सुंदर है।

यथेदं ब्रह्मणो दृश्यमविकारादि नेतरत् | यथाम्भसि तरङ्गादि राजन्पृथगिव स्थितम् || १४ ||

yathedaṃ brahmaṇo dṛśyamavikārādi netarat | yathāmbhasi taraṅgādi rājanpṛthagiva sthitam || 14 ||

English

Just as this is seen as the unchanging Brahman, not otherwise, so the waves, etc., in the water appear to be separate, O King.

हिन्दी

जैसे यह अविकारी ब्रह्म के रूप में देखा जाता है, अन्यथा नहीं, ऐसे ही पानी में लहरें आदि अलग-अलग दिखाई देती हैं, हे राजन्।

कूपवापीसरोब्धीनां दृश्यते यादृगन्तरम् | नारीपुरुषतोयानां विज्ञेयं तादृगन्तरम् || १६ ||

kūpavāpīsarobdhīnāṃ dṛśyate yādṛgantaram | nārīpuruṣatoyānāṃ vijñeyaṃ tādṛgantaram || 16 ||

English

Just as there is a difference seen among wells, ponds, and large bodies of water, so too there is a difference to be known among women, men, and waters.

हिन्दी

जैसे कुओं, तालाबों और बड़े जलाशयों में अंतर दिखाई देता है, वैसे ही स्त्रियों, पुरुषों और जल में अंतर जाना जाना चाहिए।

जन्तोरिवास्य मनसो जलजातिबन्धजीर्णस्य जर्जरदशालहरीभ्रमेण| आवर्तवृत्तिवलितान्यतिसंततानि को नाम संकलयितुं कमलानि शक्तः || १७ ||

jantorivāsya manaso jalajātibandhajīrṇasya jarjaradaśālaharībhraameṇa| āvartavṛttivalitānyatisantatāni ko nāma saṅkalayituṃ kamalāni śaktaḥ || 17 ||

English

Just as the mind of a decrepit and worn-out creature is confused by the whirling of the lotus-like senses, who has the ability to count the continuous cycles of the lotuses?

जैसे एक जीर्ण-शीर्ण जन्तु के मन को कमल की तरह इन्द्रियों के भ्रम से भ्रमित किया जाता है, कौन कमलों के निरन्तर चक्रों को गिनने की शक्ति रखता है?

चित्रं विजृम्भितमहो जडसंगमस्य पद्मोपि यन्निजगुणानगुणानिवैषः| अन्तः प्रगोपयति कण्ठतले निवेश्य सर्वस्य दर्शयति दुर्भगकण्टकौघम् || १८ ||

citraṃ vijṛmbhitamaho jaḍasaṅgamasya padmopi yannijaguṇānaguṇāniva eṣaḥ| antaḥ pragopayati kaṇṭhatala niveśya sarvasya darśayati durbhagakaṇṭakaugham || 18 ||

English

It is amazing that even the lotus, which is inert in association, hides its own qualities as if they were faults, concealing them within its throat, and reveals the thorns of misfortune to everyone.

यह आश्चर्य की बात है कि जड़ संगम में भी कमल, जो अपने गुणों को दोषों की तरह छिपाता है, उन्हें अपने कंठ में छिपा लेता है, और सबको दुर्भाग्य के कांटों को दिखाता है।

सच्छिद्रैरदृढैः सूक्ष्मैर्गोपितैर्जाड्यसंयुतैः| अनल्पैरपि निःसारैः पद्मस्येव गुणैरलम् || १९ ||

sacchidrairadṛḍhaiḥ sūkṣmairgopitairjāḍyasaṃyutaiḥ| analpairapi niḥsāraiḥ padmasyeva guṇairalam || 19 ||

English

With subtle, hidden, and insignificant qualities, even the lotus, which is inert, has enough virtues.

mahatāṃ kulapadmānāṃ guṇasaundaryaśālinām| prabhāvaṃ nāsti saṃkhyātuṃ vāsukerapi śaktatā || 20 ||

English

There is no limit to the influence of the great lotuses, which are endowed with beautiful qualities. Even Vāsuki cannot count their power.

महान कमलों की, जो सुंदर गुणों से भरे हुए हैं, प्रभाव की कोई सीमा नहीं है। वासुकि भी उनकी शक्ति को गिन नहीं सकता।

हरिवक्षोगता लक्ष्मीरपि शोभार्थमेव यत्| बिभर्ति कमलं हस्ते कान्याशंसाधिका भवेत् || २१ ||

harivakṣogatā lakṣmīrapi śobhārthameva yat| bibharti kamalaṃ haste kānyāśaṃsādhikā bhavet || 21 ||

English

Even Lakshmi, who resides in the chest of Hari, holds a lotus in her hand only for the sake of beauty. What greater hope can there be for a maiden?

हरि के वक्ष में रहने वाली लक्ष्मी भी सिर्फ सुंदरता के लिए ही हाथ में कमल धारण करती है। किसी कन्या के लिए इससे बढ़कर आशा क्या हो सकती है?

सितासिताभ्यां रूपाभ्यां कमलोत्पलखण्डयोः | वैसादृश्यं भवेत्किंतु समा जडजडैतयोः || २२ ||

sitāsitābhyāṃ rūpābhyāṃ kamalotpalakhaṇḍayoḥ | vaisādṛśyaṃ bhavetkiṃtu samā jaḍajaḍaitayoḥ || 22 ||

English

There is no difference between the white and black forms of the lotus and the fragment of the lotus, but there is a similarity between the inanimate and the inanimate.

सितासिताभ्यां रूपाभ्यां कमल और उत्पल के खण्डों में कोई भेद नहीं है, लेकिन जड़ और जड़ में समानता है।

साम्यं न फुल्लविपिनेन सरःसु याति व्योम्ना न तारकयुतेन न चेन्दुवृन्दैः | नृत्यद्वधूविहसिताननशोभयैति फुल्लस्य पङ्कजवनस्य नवोदिता श्रीः || २३ ||

sāmyaṃ na phullavipinena saraḥsu yāti vyomnā na tārakayutena na cenduvṛndaiḥ | nṛtyadvadhūvihasitānanaśobhayaiti phullasya paṅkajavanasya navoditā śrīḥ || 23 ||

English

The beauty of the newly blossomed lotus pond is not comparable to the forest full of blooming flowers, the sky full of stars, or the moonlit nights. It is enhanced by the laughter of dancing brides.

हिन्दी

नवोदित कमल के तालाब की शोभा फूलों से भरे वन, तारों से भरे आकाश या चांदनी रातों से तुलनीय नहीं है। यह नृत्य करती वधुओं के हंसी से और भी बढ़ जाती है।

येषां पुष्पलतास्वादैरनन्यमनसां गतम् | भृङ्गाणामायुरायामि त एव सुभगोत्तमाः || २४ ||

yeṣāṃ puṣpalatāsvādairananyamanasāṃ gatam | bhṛṅgāṇāmāyurāyāmi ta eva subhagottamāḥ || 24 ||

English

Those bees whose minds are solely focused on the enjoyment of flowers, their lifespan is extended, and they are the most fortunate.

हिन्दी

जिन भौंरों के मन केवल फूलों के स्वाद में लगे हुए हैं, उनकी आयु बढ़ जाती है, और वे सबसे भाग्यशाली होते हैं।

चूतचारुचमत्कारं चञ्चरीकाश्चरन्ति ये | त एव सचमत्कारा इतरे जातिपूरणम् || २५ ||

cūtacārucamatkāraṃ cañcarīkāścaranti ye | ta eva sacamatkārā itare jātipūraṇam || 25 ||

English

Those who marvel at the beautiful mango blossoms are truly amazed. Others are merely fulfilling their roles.

हिन्दी

जो सुंदर आम के फूलों का चमत्कार देखते हैं, वे ही सचमुच आश्चर्यचकित होते हैं। बाकी लोग तो बस अपनी भूमिका निभा रहे होते हैं।

मत्ता मधुमदामोदैः पुष्करेषु रणन्ति ये | तुष्टानामितरस्वादैर्भ्रमराणां हसन्ति ते || २६ ||

mattā madhumadāmodaiḥ puṣkareṣu raṇanti ye | tuṣṭānāmitarasvādairbhramarāṇāṃ hasanti te || 26 ||

English

Those who are intoxicated with the sweetness of honey fight in the lotus ponds, and they laugh with the satisfaction of other tastes of the bees.

हिन्दी

जो मधु की मिठास से मतवाले होते हैं, वे कमल के तालाबों में लड़ते हैं, और भौंरों के अन्य स्वादों से संतुष्ट होकर हंसते हैं।

येनोषितं विरुतमुल्लसितं प्रसुप्तं पद्मोदरेषु शशिकोटरकोमलेषु | भृङ्गः स एष शिशिरे विरसेषु भावं कष्टं करिष्यति कथं तरुपुष्पकेषु || २७ ||

yenouṣitaṃ virutamullasitaṃ prasuptaṃ padmodareṣu śaśikoṭarakomaleṣu | bhṛṅgaḥ sa eṣa śiśire viraseṣu bhāvaṃ kaṣṭaṃ kariṣyati kathaṃ tarupuṣpakeṣu || 27 ||

English

The bee, which has enjoyed the blooming, opening, and sleeping lotuses in the soft moonlight, how will it endure the harsh condition in the tasteless flowers of the trees in the cold season?

जो भौंरा चंद्रमा की मधुर चाँदनी में खिले, उठे और सोए कमलों का आनंद ले चुका है, वह ठंडे मौसम में बेस्वाद पेड़ों के फूलों में कैसे कठिन स्थिति सहेगा?

अफुल्लमल्लिकोद्दाममुकुलोपरि षट्पदः | दृश्यते कालरुद्रेण शूले प्रोत इवान्धकः || २८ ||

aphullamallikodāmamukulopari ṣaṭpadaḥ | dṛśyate kālarudreṇa śūle prota ivāndhakaḥ || 28 ||

English

The bee is seen on the unopened bud of the jasmine, as if pierced by the trident of time, like a blind man.

भौंरा खिले हुए चमेली के फूल पर दिखाई देता है, जैसे समय के त्रिशूल से छेदा गया हो, एक अंधे आदमी की तरह।

आस्वादयन्विविधपुष्पमधूनि भृङ्ग नित्यं भ्रमन्सकलशैललतागृहेषु | नाद्यापि तुष्यसि किमङ्ग दुराशयोऽसि मन्ये न सारमुपगच्छसि वा वनेभ्यः || २९ ||

āsvādayanvividhapuṣpamadhūni bhṛṅga nityaṃ bhramansakalaśailalatāgṛheṣu | nādyāpi tuṣyasi kimaṅga durāśayo'si manye na sāramupagacchasi vā vanebhyaḥ || 29 ||

English

O bee, always tasting various flower nectars and wandering in the forest abodes, why are you not satisfied even now? Are you greedy, or do you not get the essence of the forests?

हे भौंरा, जो हमेशा विभिन्न फूलों के मधु का स्वाद लेता है और वन के घरों में भटकता रहता है, तुम अभी तक संतुष्ट क्यों नहीं हो? क्या तुम लालची हो, या तुम वनों की सार को नहीं पाते?

कमलकुलकवलकोविद गच्छ सरो मधुप मा रूढम् | बदरदरीषु विदीर्णं देहं कुरु कण्टकक्रकचैः || ३० ||

kamalakulakavalakovida gaccha saro madhupa mā rūḍham | badaradarīṣu vidīrṇaṃ dehaṃ kuru kaṇṭakakrakacaiḥ || 30 ||

English

O bee, expert in lotus clusters, go to the lake, do not stay. Make your body torn in the jujube trees with thorns.

हिन्दी

हे भौंरा, जो कमल के झुंडों का ज्ञाता है, सरोवर की ओर जाओ, मत रुको। बेर के पेड़ों में काँटों से अपने शरीर को चीर डालो।

अतसीकुसुमे कुवलयदलवलये विकसिते च तापिच्छे | परभागमेहि मधुना तासु विसदृशीव पण्डितः पुरुषः || ३१ ||

atasīkusume kuvalayadalavalaye vikasite ca tāpicche | parabhāgamehi madhunā tāsu visadṛśīva paṇḍitaḥ puruṣaḥ || 31 ||

English

In the blooming blue lotus and the open white lotus petals, go to the other side with honey, like a wise man.

नील कमल और खिले हुए सफेद कमल के पंखुड़ियों में, मधु के साथ दूसरी ओर जाओ, जैसे एक विद्वान व्यक्ति।

paśyaiṣā nābhinalinīkesaraiḥ pālitā śriyā | haṃsamālāmalāvallī sāmagāyanakūjitā || 32 ||

English

Behold this lotus-laden lake, nourished by the wealth of lotus filaments, adorned with a garland of swans, and resonating with the melodious hum of bees.
