पार्श्वगा ऊचुः | अत्रोत्तमाशथ लतावलयालयेषु लीलाविलोलललनाः कलयन्ति गीतम् | उद्दामभावरसविस्मृतवासरेहा विश्रम्य किंनरगणाः कलकाकलीकम् || १ ||

pārśvagā ūcuḥ | atrottamāśatha latāvalayālayeṣu līlāvilolalalanāḥ kalayanti gītam | uddāmabhāvarasavisṛtavāsarehā viśramya kiṃnaragaṇāḥ kalakākalīkam || 1 ||

English

The attendants said, 'Here, in the finest abodes adorned with creepers, the playful and charming women sing songs | The Kinara beings, forgetting the essence of their lofty emotions, rest and engage in melodious chatter.'

हिन्दी

पार्श्वगा ने कहा, 'यहाँ, सबसे उत्तम लताओं से सजे घरों में, खेल-खेल में ललित स्त्रियाँ गीत गाती हैं | किंनर गण, अपने उत्तम भावों की रस को भूलकर, विश्राम करते हैं और मधुर बातचीत करते हैं।'

ete himādri-malayācala-vindhya-sahya-krauñcā mahēndra-madhumaṃdara-dardurādyāḥ | dūrasthitā dṛśi sitābhrapaṭā vahanti saṃśuṣkapaṇṇalavalāñchitalōṣṭalīlām || 2 ||

English

These mountains—Himādri, Malaya, Vindhya, Sahya, Krauñca, Mahendra, Madhumandara, and Dardura, among others—appear like distant white clouds to the eye, carrying the playful dance of dry leaves.

ये पर्वत—हिमाद्रि, मलय, विन्ध्य, सह्य, क्रौंच, महेन्द्र, मधुमन्दर, और दर्दुर, आदि—दूर स्थित सफेद बादलों की तरह दिखाई देते हैं, जो सूखे पत्तों की खेल-भरी लीला को लेकर चलते हैं।

amī dūrālokavyavahitamahāvartmanicayāḥ purḥprākārāṇāṃ kulaśikariṇo bibhrati vapuḥ | viśantīrambhodhiṃ kalaya lulitā bhānti saritaḥ paṭasyāntaḥ saktāḥ pratanusitasūtrā iva daśāḥ || 3 ||

English

These great mountains, separated by vast distances, stand like the peaks of the front walls of cities | The rivers, entering the ocean, appear like thin white threads attached to a cloth.

हिन्दी

ये महान पर्वत, दूर-दूर तक फैले हुए, शहरों के अग्र दीवारों के शिखरों की तरह खड़े हैं | समुद्र में प्रवेश करती नदियाँ कपड़े में लगे पतले सफेद धागे की तरह दिखाई देती हैं।

दशाशाः शैलानामुपरि परितः प्रावृतघना घनश्यामाकाराः खगकलकलालापलपिताः | लतामुक्तैः पुष्पैर्ललितवनलेखाभुजलता हसन्त्यस्ते राजन्भवनवनिता भान्ति पुरतः || ४ ||

daśāśāḥ śailānāmupari paritaḥ prāvṛtaghanā ghanśyāmākārāḥ khagakalakalālāpalapitāḥ | latāmuktairpuṣpaiḥlalitavanalekhābhujalatā hasantyaste rājanbhāvanavaniitā bhānti purataḥ || 4 ||

English

The peaks of the mountains, covered with dense clouds, appear dark and are filled with the chatter of birds | The women of the palace, adorned with flowers from the creepers, appear graceful like the curves of a vine, laughing and standing before the king.

पर्वतों की चोटियाँ, घने बादलों से ढकी हुई, काली दिखाई देती हैं और पक्षियों की चहचहाहट से भरी हुई हैं | लताओं से फूलों से सजी महल की स्त्रियाँ, लताओं की लहरी की तरह सुंदर दिखाई देती हैं, हँसती हुई राजा के सामने खड़ी हैं।

तालीतमालबकुलाकुलतुङ्गशृङ्गमेकीकृताकृति वनं तरलं विभाति | अभ्याहतं जलनिधेस्तरलैस्तरङ्गैस्तीरान्तलग्नघनशैवलजालकल्पम् || ५ ||

tālītamālabakulākulatuṅgaśṛṅgamekīkṛtākṛti vanaṃ taralaṃ vibhāti | abhyāhataṃ jalanidhestaralaitaraṅgaitīrāntalagnaghanaśaivalajālakalpam || 5 ||

English

The forest, filled with tall peaks adorned with Tālī, Tāmala, and Bakula trees, appears to be trembling | Struck by the waves of the ocean, it appears like a dense net of reeds on the shore.

हिन्दी

ताली, तामल और बकुल के वृक्षों से सजी ऊँची चोटियों से भरा वन, काँपता हुआ दिखाई देता है | समुद्र की लहरों से छूआ हुआ, यह तट पर घने नल के जाल की तरह दिखाई देता है।

इतः स्वपिति केशवः कुलमितस्तदीयद्विषामितोऽपि शरणार्थिनः शिखरिपत्रिणः शेरते | इतोऽपि वडवानलः सह समस्तसंवर्तकैरहो विततमूर्जितं भरसहं च सिन्धोर्वपुः || ६ ||

itah svapiti keshavaḥ kulamitas tadīyadvishāmito'pi sharanārthinaḥ shikharipatriṇaḥ sherate | ito'pi vaḍavānalaḥ saha samastasamvartakai raaho vitatamūrjitaṃ bharasahaṃ cha sindhorvapuḥ || 6 ||

English

Here, Keshava sleeps, and here the enemies of His family also sleep, seeking refuge in the mountain caves. Here too, the submarine fire along with all the winds of destruction, oh, spreads out, enduring the burden of the ocean.

यहाँ केशव सोते हैं, और यहाँ उनके परिवार के शत्रु भी पहाड़ी गुफाओं में शरण लेकर सोते हैं। यहाँ भी, समुद्री अग्नि और सभी विनाशकारी वायुओं के साथ, ओह, समुद्र के भार को सहन करते हुए फैलती है।

एते जम्बुनदीतटा रविकरैराभान्ति हेमाखिलग्रामारण्यपुरस्थलीगिरितरुस्थाण्वग्रहारोच्चयाः | ज्वालालीवलिताबरांतरलिहो मुञ्चन्ति भासोभितस्सर्वा भूमिप भूरिहैवममरासेव्यास्ति नो मानुषैः || ७ ||

ete jambunadītaṭā ravikarairābhānti hemākhilagrāmāraṇyapurasthalīgiritarusthāṇvagrahārocchayāḥ | jvālālīvalitābarāṃtaralihomuñchantibhāsobhitassarvābhūmipa bhūrihaivamamarāsevyāsti no mānuṣaiḥ || 7 ||

English

These banks of the Jambu River shine with the rays of the sun, illuminating the golden villages, forests, cities, plains, mountains, trees, and peaks. The flames lick the inner clouds, emitting light, and all the earth shines. Oh king, such divine service is not possible for humans.

हिन्दी

ये जम्बु नदी के तट सूर्य की किरणों से चमकते हैं, स्वर्णिम गाँवों, जंगलों, शहरों, मैदानों, पहाड़ों, पेड़ों और चोटियों को प्रकाशित करते हुए। ज्वालाएँ अंतरिक्ष के बादलों को चाटती हैं, प्रकाश छोड़ती हैं, और सारी पृथ्वी चमकती है। हे राजन, ऐसी दिव्य सेवा मनुष्यों के लिए संभव नहीं है।

एते कदम्बवनकम्बलमम्बुदाभमाभान्ति भास्करपथानुगता वहन्तः | अस्याचलस्य वसुधेव तटं तवास्तु मा सूर्यरोधकनभस्थघनौघशङ्का || ८ ||

ete kadambavanakambalamambudābhmābhānti bhāskarapathānugatā vahantaḥ | asyācalasya vasudheva taṭaṃ tavāstu mā sūryarodhakanabhasthaghanaughaśaṅkā || 8 ||

English

These clouds, resembling the Kadamba forest, shine following the path of the sun, carrying water. May the shore of this mountain be like the earth for you, without the fear of the dense clouds obstructing the sun.

ये बादल, जो कदंब वन के समान दिखते हैं, सूर्य के मार्ग का अनुगमन करते हुए चमकते हैं, पानी लेकर। इस पर्वत का तट आपके लिए पृथ्वी के समान हो, घने बादलों द्वारा सूर्य को रोकने की चिंता के बिना।

एषोऽसौ मलयो लयोग्रलवलीवल्लीलसच्चन्दनस्फीतामोदमदाद्रसेन तरवो वक्रे क्रियन्ते त्रिभिः | सज्वालोदहनाक्षसंस्थितकपोलोष्मोदयोत्ताण्डवे अङ्गुष्ठाङ्गुलिभिर्यथोष्णककणास्तप्ता यथा योषिताम् || ९ ||

eṣo'sau malayo layogralavalīvallīlasaccandanasphītāmodamadādrasena taravo vakre kriyante tribhiḥ | sajvālodahanākṣasaṃsthitakapolōṣmodayottāṇḍave aṅguṣṭhāṅgulibhiryathoṣṇakakaṇāstaptā yathā yoṣitām || 9 ||

English

This Malaya mountain, with its delightful sandalwood trees bent by the strong breeze, emits a fragrant scent. In the intense heat of the blazing fire, the trees are bent as if by the touch of a woman's warm fingers.

हिन्दी

यह मलय पर्वत, जिसके चंदन के वृक्ष तेज हवा से झुके हुए हैं, एक सुगंधित गंध छोड़ता है। तीव्र गर्मी में जलती आग के समय, पेड़ ऐसे झुकते हैं जैसे कि किसी स्त्री के गर्म उंगलियों के स्पर्श से।

एषोऽब्धिधौतकलधौततटाधिरूढभोगीन्द्रभोगपरिवेष्टितचन्दनोऽगः | विद्याधरीवदनपङ्कजदीप्तिपुञ्जहेमीकृताखिलशिलो मलयाभिधानः || १० ||

eṣo'bddhidhautakaladhautataṭādhirūḍhabhogīndrabhogapariveṣṭitacandano'gaḥ | vidyādharīvadanapaṅkajadīptipuñjahemīkṛtākhilaśilo malayābhidhānaḥ || 10 ||

English

This Malaya mountain, washed by the ocean and adorned with serpents, is surrounded by sandalwood and illuminated by the radiance of the lotus-like faces of the Vidyadharis. It is turned into gold, known as Malaya.

यह मलय पर्वत, समुद्र से धुला हुआ और सर्पों से सजा हुआ, चंदन से घिरा हुआ है और विद्याधरियों के कमल के समान चेहरों की चमक से प्रकाशित है। यह सोने में बदल गया है, मलय के नाम से जाना जाता है।

कूजत्कुञ्जकठोरगह्वरनदीक्वत्कारवत्कीचकस्तम्भाडम्बरमूकमौकुलिकुलः क्रौञ्चाचलोयं गिरिः| एतस्मिन्प्रबलाकिनां प्रचलतामुद्वेजिताः कूजितैरुद्वेल्लन्ति पुराणरोहणतरुस्तम्भेषु कुम्भीनसाः || ११ ||

kūjatkuñjakaṭhoragahvaranadīkvatkāravatkīcakastambhāḍambaramūkamaukulikulaḥ krauñcācaloyam giriḥ| etasminprabalākinām pracalatāmudvejitāḥ kūjitairudvellanti purāṇarohaṇatarustambheṣu kumbhīnasāḥ || 11 ||

English

This is the mountain Krauncha, with its harsh, deep caves and the sounds of peacocks and cuckoos| In this mountain, the cranes are frightened by the loud calls of the strong cranes and rise up on the ancient tree trunks.

यह क्रौंच पर्वत है, जिसकी कठोर, गहरी गुफाएँ और मोरों और कोयलों की आवाजें हैं| इस पर्वत में, शक्तिशाली सारसों के ऊँचे बुलावों से डरकर बगुले पुराने पेड़ों की तनों पर उठते हैं।

The delicate golden creepers sway gently, creating a charming scene| Listen to the sweet music here on the shore.

कोमल सुनहरी लताएँ हल्के से लहराती हैं, एक मोहक दृश्य बनाती हैं| तट पर यहाँ मधुर संगीत सुनो।

करिकरटगलितमदजलवलितश्चलवीचिचञ्चरीकचयैः| चर्वित एष कदर्थित इव कणनिकरो विरौति वारिनिधौ || १३ ||

karikaraṭagalitamadajalavalitaścalavīcicañcarīkacayaiḥ| carvita eṣa kadarthita iva kaṇanikaro virauti vārinidhau || 13 ||

English

The elephant's ichor flows, mixing with the water, creating ripples| The lotus buds seem to be chewed and scattered in the water.

हाथी का मद बहता है, पानी में मिलकर लहरें बनाता है| कमल के कली जैसे चबाए और पानी में बिखरे हुए हैं।

पश्यामलेन्दुरामृतनवनीतशरीरसुन्दरीवलितः| पितुरुत्सङ्गे कुरुते जललीलां क्षीरवारिनिधौ || १४ ||

paśyāmalendurāmṛtanavanītaśarīrasundarīvalitaḥ| piturutsangē kurutē jalalīlāṃ kṣīravārinidhau || 14 ||

English

See the beautiful moon, shining like fresh butter, sitting on the father's lap| It plays with water in the milk ocean.

हिन्दी

देखो चाँद को, जो ताजा मक्खन की तरह चमक रहा है, पिता की गोद में बैठा हुआ| यह दूध के समुद्र में पानी के साथ खेल रहा है।

नृत्यन्ति मत्तकलकोकिलकाकलीकाः पश्यामले मलयसानुनि बालवल्ल्यः| लोलालिजालनयनारुणपत्रपाणिपुष्पा मधूत्सवविलासविशेषवत्यः || १५ ||

nṛtyanti mattakalakokilakākalīkāḥ paśyāmalē malayasānuni bālavallyaḥ| lolālijālanayanāruṇapatrapāṇipuṣpā madhūtsavavilāsaviśeṣavatyaḥ || 15 ||

English

See the intoxicated cuckoos dancing on the tender creepers of the Malaya mountain| With swaying eyes and red petals in their hands, the flowers are especially joyful in the honey festival.

हिन्दी

देखो नशे में चूहे मलय पर्वत की कोमल लताओं पर नाच रहे हैं| लहराती आँखों और लाल पत्तों के हाथों वाले फूल मधु उत्सव में विशेष रूप से खुश हैं।

वंशानां हृदि पर्वतेषु जलधौ तोयार्थिनीनां तु ये शुक्तीनां हृदये विशन्ति समये वर्षांभसां बिन्दवः | ते मुक्ताफलतां व्रजन्ति करिणां कुम्भेषु वान्यद्भवेत् शुद्धौ मौक्तिकवत्स्युरुत्तमगुणा एतास्त्रिधा जातयः || १६ ||

vaṃśānāṃ hṛdi parvateṣu jaladhau toyārthinīnāṃ tu ye śuktīnāṃ hṛdaye viśanti samaye varṣāmbhasāṃ bindavaḥ | te mukta phalatāṃ vrajanti kariṇāṃ kumbheṣu vānyadbhavet śuddhau mauktikavatsyuruttamaguṇā etāstridhā jātayaḥ || 16 ||

English

The drops of rain that enter the hearts of oysters in the ocean, the hearts of mountains, and the hearts of bamboo, transform into pearls. These pearls, when found in elephants' trunks or in pure forms, possess the highest qualities.

जो वर्षा के पानी की बूँदें समुद्र में शुक्तियों के हृदय में, पर्वतों के हृदय में और बाँस के हृदय में प्रवेश करती हैं, वे मोती बन जाती हैं। ये मोती, जब हाथियों के सूँड़ में या शुद्ध रूप में पाए जाते हैं, तो उनमें उत्तम गुण होते हैं।

शैलेऽब्धौ पुरुषेऽवनौ जलधरे भेके शिलायां गजे नानाकारधरा भवन्ति मणयः कर्माणि तेषां विभो । ह्लादोच्चाटनमारणज्वरभयभ्रान्तिप्रकाशान्धताखेदोत्तापनभूनभोगतिदृशो नाशो विधानं तथा || १७ ||

śaile'bdhau puruṣe'vanau jaladhare bheke śilāyāṃ gaje nānākāradharā bhavanti maṇayaḥ karmāṇi teṣāṃ vibho | hlādoccāṭanamāraṇajvarabhayabhrāntiprakāśāndhatākhedottāpanabhūnabhogatidṛśo nāśo vidhānaṃ tathā || 17 ||

English

Gems found in mountains, oceans, men, forests, clouds, frogs, stones, and elephants take various forms and have different effects. O Lord, they bring joy, bewitchment, death, fever, fear, delusion, illumination, blindness, fatigue, heat, earthly pleasures, and destruction.

हिन्दी

पर्वतों, समुद्रों, मनुष्यों, वनों, बादलों, मेढकों, पत्थरों और हाथियों में पाए जाने वाले रत्न विभिन्न रूपों में होते हैं और अलग-अलग प्रभाव डालते हैं। हे प्रभु, ये आनंद, मोह, मृत्यु, ज्वर, भय, भ्रांति, प्रकाश, अंधता, थकान, गर्मी, भूमि के सुख और विनाश लाते हैं।

वातायनोदरगवाक्षकवाटकक्षाद्वाराननैरिह पुराण्युदिते पठन्ति | श्वभ्राभ्रकन्दरदरीवनवेणुरन्ध्रवर्गेण मन्दर इवामृतसिन्धुमिन्दुम् || १८ ||

vātāyanodaragavākṣakavāṭakakṣādvārānanairiha purāṇyudite paṭhanti | śvabhrābhrakandaradarīvanaveṇurandhravargeṇa mandara ivāmṛtasindhumindum || 18 ||

English

The ancient stories recited here through the windows, doors, and holes of caves, clouds, and bamboo flutes, resemble the nectar-ocean moon of Mandara mountain.

यहाँ खिड़कियों, दरवाजों और गुफाओं, बादलों और बाँसुरियों के छेदों से सुनाए जाने वाले पुराने किस्से मानो मंदर पर्वत के अमृत सागर के चंद्रमा के समान हैं।

एतच्छृङ्गं हरति पवनः किंस्विदित्युन्मुखीभिर्दृष्टोत्साहश्चकितचकितं मुग्धसिद्धाङ्गनाभिः | प्रालेयाद्रेः प्रतितटवनं प्रोत्पतत्यभ्रमूर्ध्वं वज्रस्तम्भो गगनसुतलोत्तोलनायेव भूमेः || १९ ||

etacchṛṅgaṃ harati pavanaḥ kiṃsvidityunmukhībhirdṛṣṭotsāhaścakitacakitaṃ mugdhasiddhāṅganābhiḥ | prāleyādreḥ pratitaṭavanaṃ protpatatyabhramūrdhvaṃ vajrastambho gaganasutalottolanaiveva bhūmeḥ || 19 ||

English

The wind carries away this peak, what is this? The eager and astonished young celestial women look with amazement. The cloud rises from the foot of the snowy mountain, as if to lift the earth to the sky with its thunderbolt pillar.

हिन्दी

यह शिखर हवा ले जाती है, यह क्या है? उत्सुक और आश्चर्यचकित युवा देवांगनाएँ आश्चर्य से देखती हैं। बर्फीले पर्वत के तल से बादल ऊपर उठता है, मानो अपने वज्र स्तंभ से पृथ्वी को आकाश तक उठाना चाहता हो।

गङ्गातरङ्गहिमसीकरशीतलानि विद्याधराध्युषितचारुशिलातलानि | पुष्पाभ्रसंवलितपुष्पितकाननानि राजन्विलोकय महेन्द्रगिरेस्तटानि || २० ||

gaṅgātaraṅgahimasīkarasītalāni vidyādharādhyuṣitacāruśilātalāni | puṣpābhrasaṃvalitapuṣpitakānanāni rājanvilokaya mahendragirestataāni || 20 ||

English

O King, behold the banks of the great Mahendra mountain, cooled by the icy drops of the Ganges' waves, adorned with beautiful stones inhabited by Vidyadharas, and blooming forests covered with flowering clouds.

हिन्दी

हे राजन्, महेंद्र पर्वत के तटों को देखो, जो गंगा की लहरों के बर्फीले कणों से ठंडे हैं, विद्याधरों द्वारा आबाद चारु पत्थरों से सजे हैं, और फूलों से भरे बादलों से ढके खिले हुए वनों से भरे हैं।

देशान्तरेषु विततानि वनान्तराणि पुष्पस्थलान्युपवनान्यथ पत्तनानितीर्थेषु पूतभुवनानि जलानि दृष्ट्वा दौर्भाग्यमीतिरपयाति जवानुविद्धा || २१ ||

deśāntareṣu vitatāni vanāntarāṇi puṣpasthalānyupavanānyatha pattanānitīrtheṣu pūtabhuvanāni jalāni dṛṣṭvā daurbhāgyamītirapayāti javānuviddhā || 21 ||

English

In distant lands, there are forests, flower gardens, parks, cities, and holy places with pure waters. Seeing these, one's misfortune departs swiftly.

दूर के देशों में, वन, फूलों के स्थान, उपवन, नगर, और पवित्र स्थान हैं जहाँ शुद्ध जल है। इन्हें देखकर, दुर्भाग्य तेजी से दूर हो जाता है।

शृङ्गाणि पूरितदिगन्तरमण्डलानि श्वभ्राभ्रकन्दरनिकुञ्जकुलाकुलानि व्योमोपमान्यपि च वारिधिकुण्डलानि दृष्ट्वा गलन्ति कुकृतानि बृहत्तराणि || २२ ||

śrṛṅgāṇi pūritadigantaramaṇḍalāni śvabhrābhrakandaranikuñjakulākulāni vyomopamānyapi ca vāridhikuṇḍalāni dṛṣṭvā galanti kukṛtāni bṛhattarāṇi || 22 ||

English

Seeing the mountain peaks filling the horizons, the chasms, clouds, caves, and dense thickets teeming with life, and even the sky-like vast oceans, great sins dissolve away.

हिन्दी

पर्वतों की चोटियाँ जो क्षितिज को भर देती हैं, गहरे गड्ढे, बादल, गुफाएँ और घने जंगल जहाँ जीवन भरपूर है, और आकाश के समान विशाल समुद्रों को देखकर बड़े-बड़े पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं।

रम्याश्चन्दनवीथयो हि मलये विन्ध्ये मदान्धा गजाः कैलासे नृप पादजाति कनकं चन्द्रं महेन्द्राचलेदिव्याश्चौषधयस्तुषारशिखरे सर्वत्र रत्नानि वै सन्त्यन्धाखुवदेष जीर्णसदने व्यर्थं जनो जीर्यते || २३ ||

ramyāścandanavīthayo hi malaye vindhye madāndhā gajāḥ kailāse nṛpa pādajāti kanakaṃ candraṃ mahendrācaledivyāścauṣadhayastuṣāraśikhare sarvatra ratnāni vai santyandhākhuvadeṣa jīrṇasadane vyarthaṃ jano jīryate || 23 ||

English

In Malaya and Vindhya, there are charming sandalwood paths and intoxicated elephants. In Kailasa, there is gold like the feet of kings and the moon. In Mahendra, there are divine herbs and gems everywhere. In the land of Andhakhu, people age in vain in old homes.
