śrīrāma uvāca | avidyā dṛśyarūpeyaṃ kacantī yasya vidyate | cinnabhaḥsvapnanagarī dṛśyamānāpi śūnyakam || 1 ||
Shri Ram said: This visible form of ignorance is like a dream city seen in the sky, even though it appears to be empty.
श्री राम ने कहा: यह दृश्यरूप अविद्या आकाश में दिखने वाली स्वप्न नगरी की तरह है, जो खाली दिखाई देती है।
तस्याज्ञस्य कियत्कालं किंरूपा स्यात्किमात्मिका | कियती सा च वेत्येवं मुने मे कथ्यतां पुनः || २ ||
tasyājñasya kiyatkālaṃ kiṃrūpā syātkimātmikā | kiyatī sā ca vetyevaṃ mune me kathyatāṃ punaḥ || 2 ||
How long does this ignorance last? What form does it take? What is its essence? O sage, please tell me again how much of it exists.
यह अज्ञान कितनी देर तक रहता है? इसका क्या रूप है? इसका क्या सार है? हे मुनि, मुझे फिर से बताएं कि इसका कितना है।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | अविद्या विद्यते येषामज्ञानां भूतलादिका | तेषामस्यां ब्रह्मणीव नास्त्यन्तोऽत्र कथां श्रृणु || ३ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | avidyā vidyate yeṣāmajñānāṃ bhūtalādikā | teṣāmasyāṃ brahmaṇīva nāstyanto'tra kathāṃ śrṇu || 3 ||
Vasishtha said: Ignorance exists for those who are ignorant, starting from the earthly realm. For them, there is no end to it, just as there is no end to Brahman. Listen to this story.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: अज्ञान उन अज्ञानियों के लिए है जो भूतल से शुरू होते हैं। उनके लिए, इसका कोई अंत नहीं है, जैसे कि ब्रह्म का कोई अंत नहीं है। इस कथा को सुनो।
सदृशं जगतोऽस्यास्ति क्वचिदम्बरकोणके | कस्मिंश्चिद्त्रिजगत्किंचिदनयैव व्यवस्थया || ४ ||
sadṛśaṃ jagato'syāsti kvacidambarakoṇake | kasmiṃścidtrijagatkiṃcidanayeva vyavasthayā || 4 ||
This world is similar to a corner of the sky, where something exists in some part of the three worlds due to this arrangement.
यह जगत आकाश के एक कोण की तरह है, जहाँ तीनों लोकों में कुछ किसी भाग में इस व्यवस्था के कारण है।
अस्ति कश्चिद्भुवो भागो भूषणं तत्र भूस्थितेः | पुरी ततमितिर्नाम्ना सुव्यक्तकलनाऽवनौ || ५ ||
asti kaścidbhuvo bhāgo bhūṣaṇaṃ tatra bhūsthiteḥ | purī tatamitirnāmnā suvyaktakalanā'vanau || 5 ||
There is a part of the earth which is an ornament of the earth. There is a city named Tatamiti in a very clear forest.
भूमि का एक भाग है जो भूमि का आभूषण है। एक बहुत स्पष्ट वन में एक नगर है जिसका नाम ततमिति है।
तत्रासीत्पार्थिवः कश्चिद्विपश्चिदिति विश्रुतः | यः सभायां सुसभ्यायां विपश्चित्त्वाद्विराजते || ६ ||
tatrāsītpārthivaḥ kaścidvipaściditi viśrutaḥ | yaḥ sabhāyāṃ susabhyāyāṃ vipaścittvādvirājate || 6 ||
There was a certain king named Vipaścit, who was famous for his wisdom. He shone in the well-assembled court due to his wisdom.
वहाँ एक राजा था जिसका नाम विपश्चित था, जो अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता के लिए प्रसिद्ध था। वह अपनी बुद्धिमत्ता के कारण सुसज्जित सभा में चमकता था।
राजहंस इवाब्जिन्यामृक्षचक्र इवोडुराट् | सुमेरुरिव शैलौघे यः सभायामराजत || ७ ||
rājahaṃsa ivābjinyāmṛkṣacakra ivouḍurāṭ | sumeruriva śailaugha ye sa sabhāyāmarājata || 7 ||
He shone in the assembly like a royal swan in a lotus pond, like the constellation of the Great Bear in the sky, like Mount Meru among the mountains.
वह सभा में कमल तलाब में राजहंस की तरह, आकाश में सप्तर्षि मंडल की तरह, पर्वतों में मेरु पर्वत की तरह चमकता था।
निवर्तते यतोऽशक्त्या वचनं गुणवर्णनात् | कवीनामचलाकारा भवेद्भा भूधरो यथा || ८ ||
nivartate yato'śaktyā vacanaṃ guṇavarṇanāt | kavīnāmacalākārā bhavedbhā bhūdharo yathā || 8 ||
The description of his qualities is so vast that it cannot be fully expressed, just as the immovable mountain cannot be moved.
उसके गुणों का वर्णन इतना विस्तृत है कि उसे पूरी तरह से व्यक्त नहीं किया जा सकता, जैसे अचल पर्वत को हिलाया नहीं जा सकता।
प्रातःप्रातर्विकसितात्सर्वाशाभासनोद्यतात् | यतः प्रतापजनितश्रीरुदेत्यम्बुजादिव || ९ ||
prātaḥprātarvikasitātsarvāśābhāsanodyatāt | yataḥ pratāpajanitaśrīrudetyambujādiva || 9 ||
From the early morning, as the lotus blooms, fulfilling all hopes, his glory born of splendor arises like the lotus.
प्रातःकाल से ही, जैसे कमल खिलता है और सभी आशाओं को पूरा करता है, उसी प्रकार उसकी तेजस्वी कीर्ति उदित होती है।
स ब्रह्मण्यमतिर्मानी वह्निमेवाधिदैवतम् | अपूजयत्समं भक्त्या देव वेत्ति स्म नेतरम् || १० ||
sa brahmaṇyamatirmānī vahnimevādhidaivatam | apūjayatsamaṃ bhaktyā deva vetti sma netaram || 10 ||
He, who had a devotion to Brahmins and was wise, worshipped fire as the supreme deity with equal devotion. The gods knew this, not others.
वह, जिसकी ब्राह्मणों के प्रति भक्ति थी और जो बुद्धिमान था, अग्नि को परम देवता के रूप में समान भक्ति से पूजता था। देवताओं को यह पता था, दूसरों को नहीं।
समत्स्यमकरव्यूहा गजवाजिगणान्विताः | आवर्तचक्रव्यूहाढ्याः कल्लोलबलमालिताः || ११ ||
samatsyamakaravyūhā gajavājigaganvitāḥ | āvartacakravyūhāḍhyāḥ kallolabalamālitāḥ || 11 ||
The army formations resembling fish and crocodiles, accompanied by elephants and horses, are adorned with whirling formations and surrounded by powerful waves.
समुद्र के मछली और मगरमच्छ के समान सेना व्यूह, हाथियों और घोड़ों से युक्त, भंवर जैसे व्यूहों से सुशोभित और शक्तिशाली तरंगों से घिरे हुए हैं।
मर्यादापालने युक्ता अकम्पनबलाधिकाः | मन्त्रिष्वप्यस्य चत्वारो दिक्षु सत्सागरा इव || १२ ||
maryādāpālane yuktā akampanabalādhikāḥ | mantriṣvapyasya catvāro dikṣu satsāgarā iva || 12 ||
Bound by the observance of limits, they are endowed with unshakable strength. Even the ministers in all four directions are like the vast oceans.
सीमाओं का पालन करने वाले, वे अटल शक्ति से संपन्न हैं। चारों दिशाओं में मंत्रियों तक विशाल सागरों के समान हैं।
तैरशेषककुप्चक्रनाभिराभासितावनिः | आसीत्सुदुर्जयो जेता स सुदर्शनचक्रवत् || १३ ||
tairaśeṣakakupcakranābhirābhāsitāvaniḥ | āsītsudurjayo jetā sa sudarśanacakravat || 13 ||
The earth was illuminated by their countless formations resembling the navel of the universe. He was a victor, difficult to conquer, like the Sudarshana Chakra.
उनके अनगिनत व्यूहों से, जो ब्रह्माण्ड के नाभि के समान थे, पृथ्वी प्रकाशित हो गई। वह एक विजेता था, जो जीतना कठिन था, सुदर्शन चक्र के समान।
तमेकदा ययौ पूर्वदिङ्मुखाच्चतुरश्चरः | स उवाच रहो रंहोगतिघोराक्षरं वचः || १४ ||
tamekadā yayau pūrvadiṅmukhāccaturascaraḥ | sa uvāca raho raṃhogatighorākṣaraṃ vacaḥ || 14 ||
Once, a spy came from the east and spoke secretly in a harsh and terrifying manner.
एक बार, एक जासूस पूर्व दिशा से आया और गुप्त रूप से कठोर और भयानक शब्दों में बोला।
देव दोर्द्रुमविश्रान्तधरागोबन्धनाच्युत | श्रूयतां मन्मुखात्पश्चाद्यथाप्राप्तं विधीयताम् || १५ ||
deva dordrumaviśrāntadharāgobandhanācyuta | śrūyatāṃ manmukhātpascādyathāprāptaṃ vidhīyatām || 15 ||
O Lord, who is the support of the earth resting on the shoulders of the celestial tree, listen to my words and act accordingly.
हे देव, जो आकाशीय वृक्ष के कंधे पर विश्राम करने वाली पृथ्वी का आधार है, मेरे शब्दों को सुनें और अनुसार कार्य करें।
पूर्वदिङ्मुखसामन्तो ज्वरेणास्तमुपागतः | मन्ये जेतुं यमं यातस्त्वयारब्धो जितारिणा || १६ ||
pūrvadiṅmukhasāmanto jvareṇāstamupāgataḥ | manye jetuṃ yamaṃ yātastvayārabdho jitāriṇā || 16 ||
The eastern king, afflicted by fever, has reached his end. I believe he has gone to conquer Yama, the god of death, having been defeated by you, the conqueror of enemies.
पूर्व का राजा, ज्वर से पीड़ित, अपने अंत तक पहुंच गया है। मैं सोचता हूं कि वह यम, मृत्यु के देवता, को जीतने के लिए गया है, आपके द्वारा पराजित होने के बाद, शत्रुओं के विजेता।
तस्मिन्समन्ततो जेतुं दक्षिणापथनायकः | पूर्वापराभ्यामाक्रम्य बलाभ्यामरिणाऽऽहतः || १७ ||
tasminsamantato jetuṃ dakṣiṇāpathanāyakaḥ | pūrvāparābhyāmākramya balābhyāmarīṇā'hatāḥ || 17 ||
The southern king, attempting to conquer from all sides, was struck down by the enemy with forces from the east and the west.
दक्षिण का राजा, सब ओर से जीतने की कोशिश करते हुए, पूर्व और पश्चिम की सेनाओं द्वारा शत्रु के हाथों मारा गया।
तस्मिन्मृते समागम्य यावद्वारुणदिक्पतिः | बलेनायाति ककुभौ ते समादातुमादृतः || १८ ||
tasminmṛte samāgamya yāvadvāruṇadikpatiḥ | balenāyāti kakubhau te samādātumādṛtaḥ || 18 ||
After his death, the lord of the western direction, coming with his army, was eager to seize those two directions.
उसकी मृत्यु के बाद, पश्चिम दिशा का स्वामी, अपनी सेना के साथ आया, और उन दो दिशाओं को पाने के लिए उत्सुक था।
पूर्वदेशनृपैः सार्धं दक्षिणापथपार्थिवैः | तावदेवारिभिरसावर्धमार्गे रणे हतः || १९ ||
pūrvadeśanṛpaiḥ sārdhaṃ dakṣiṇāpathapārthivaiḥ | tāvadevāribhirasāvardhamārge raṇe hataḥ || 19 ||
Along with the kings of the eastern region and the rulers of the southern path, he was killed in battle on the way by the enemies.
पूर्व क्षेत्र के राजाओं और दक्षिण पथ के शासकों के साथ, वह रास्ते में शत्रुओं द्वारा युद्ध में मारा गया।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | अथास्मिन्कथयत्येवं त्वरार्तमपरश्चरः | उपप्लवजडोत्पीड इव हर्म्यं विवेश ह || २० ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | athāsminkathayatyevaṃ tvarārtamaparaścaraḥ | upaplavajaḍotpīḍa iva harmyaṃ viveśa ha || 20 ||
Shri Vasishtha said: While he was speaking thus, another messenger, hurried and distressed, entered the palace like one afflicted by a sudden calamity.
श्री वसिष्ठ ने कहा: जब वह ऐसे कह रहा था, एक और दूत, जल्दबाजी और परेशान, महल में घुस गया, जैसे कि किसी अचानक आपदा से पीड़ित हो।
चर उवाच | उत्तराशाबलाध्यक्षो देवारिभिरुपद्रुतः | इत आयाति सबलो भग्नसेत्वम्बुपूरवत् || २१ ||
cara uvāca | uttarāśābalādhyakṣo devāribhirupadrutaḥ | ita āyāti sabalo bhagnasetvambupūravat || 21 ||
The spy said: The commander of the northern army, attacked by the enemies of the gods, is coming here with his army, like a broken dam filled with water.
चर ने कहा: उत्तर दिशा के सेना के अध्यक्ष, देवताओं के शत्रुओं द्वारा आक्रान्त, अपनी सेना के साथ यहाँ आ रहे हैं, जैसे टूटी हुई बाँध से पानी भरा हुआ हो।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | इति श्रुत्वा महीपालः कालक्षेपमवास्तवम् | मन्यमान उवाचेदं निर्गच्छन्वरमन्दिरात् || २२ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | iti śrutvā mahīpālaḥ kālakṣepamavāstavam | manyamāna uvācedaṃ nirgacchanvaramandirāt || 22 ||
Vasishtha said: Having heard this, the king, considering the delay to be real, said this while leaving the palace.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: यह सुनकर, राजा ने देरी को वास्तविक माना और महल से निकलते हुए यह कहा।
राज्ञः सन्नह्य सामन्तानानीयन्तां च मन्त्रिणः | उद्धाट्यन्तां हेतिशाला दीयन्तां घोरहेतयः || २३ ||
rājñaḥ sannahya sāmantānānīyantāṃ ca mantrinaḥ | uddhāṭyantāṃ hetiśālā dīyantāṃ ghorahatayaḥ || 23 ||
The king said: Let the ministers be summoned and the feudal lords be armed. Let the armories be opened and terrible weapons be distributed.
राजा ने कहा: मन्त्रियों को बुलाया जाए और सामन्तों को हथियारों से लैस किया जाए। हथियारों के भण्डार खोले जाएँ और भयानक हथियार वितरित किए जाएँ।
श्लेष्यन्तां कंकटा देहेष्वागच्छन्तु पदातयः | गण्यन्तामाशु सैन्यानि क्रियन्तां वरकल्पनाः || २४ ||
śleṣyantāṃ kaṅkaṭā deheṣvāgacchantu padātayaḥ | gaṇyantāmāśu sainyāni kriyantāṃ varakalpanāḥ || 24 ||
Let the armors be fastened on the bodies, let the infantry come forward. Let the armies be counted quickly, and let excellent arrangements be made.
कवच को शरीरों पर बाँधा जाए, पैदल सैनिक आगे आएँ। सेनाओं की गिनती जल्दी की जाए और उत्तम व्यवस्था की जाए।
कल्प्यन्तां च बलाध्यक्षाः प्रेष्यन्तामभितश्चराः | श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | वदत्येवं त्वरायुक्तं संरम्भवति राजनि || २५ ||
kalpyantāṃ ca balādhyakṣāḥ preṣyantāmabhitaścarāḥ | śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | vadatyevaṃ tvarāyuktaṃ saṃrambhavati rājani || 25 ||
Let the commanders of the army be appointed, and let the spies be sent in all directions. Vasishtha said: Speaking thus with urgency, the king became enraged.
सेना के अध्यक्षों को नियुक्त किया जाए, और चरों को सभी दिशाओं में भेजा जाए। वसिष्ठ ने कहा: इस प्रकार उतावली से बोलते हुए, राजा क्रोधित हो गया।
प्रतीहार उवाचेदं प्रविश्याकुलमानतः | प्रतीहार उवाच | उत्तराशाबलाध्यक्षो देव द्वार्यवतिष्ठति | काङ्क्षत्यब्जमिवार्कस्य देवदेवस्य दर्शनम् || २६ ||
pratīhāra uvācedaṃ praviśyākulamānataḥ | pratīhāra uvāca | uttarāśābalādhyakṣo deva dvāryavatiṣṭhati | kāṅkṣatyabjamivārkasya devadevasya darśanam || 26 ||
The doorkeeper said, entering the palace with respect, 'The commander of the northern forces, O Lord, stands at the door, eagerly desiring to see you, like a lotus seeking the sun.'
द्वारपाल ने प्रणाम करके कहा, 'हे देव, उत्तराशा बल के अध्यक्ष द्वार पर खड़े हैं, और वे आपके दर्शन की इच्छा रखते हैं, जैसे कमल सूर्य की प्रतीक्षा करता है।'
राजोवाच | गच्छाविलम्बितं तावदेनमेव प्रवेशय | जानीमः किं दिगन्तेषु वृत्तं वृत्तान्तसंश्रवात् || २७ ||
rājovāca | gacchāvilambitaṃ tāvadenameva praveśaya | jānīmaḥ kiṃ diganteṣu vṛttaṃ vṛttāntasaṃśravāt || 27 ||
The king said, 'Go quickly and bring him in. We will know what has happened in the distant lands from his account.'
राजा ने कहा, 'जाओ और उसे जल्दी से अंदर ले आओ। हम उसके वर्णन से दूर देशों में हुई घटनाओं के बारे में जानेंगे।'
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | इत्युक्त उत्तराशेशं प्रतिहारप्रवेशितम् | प्रणामपरमग्रेऽसौ राजाऽपश्यद्वलाधिपम् || २८ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | ityukta uttarāśeśaṃ pratihārapraveśitam | praṇāmaparamagre'sau rājā'paśyadvālādhipam || 28 ||
Vasishtha said, 'Thus spoken, the commander of the northern forces was brought in by the doorkeeper. The king saw him bowing deeply in front of him.'
वसिष्ठ ने कहा, 'इस प्रकार कहने पर, उत्तराशा बल के अध्यक्ष को द्वारपाल द्वारा अंदर लाया गया। राजा ने उसे गहरा प्रणाम करते हुए देखा।'
क्षतविक्षतसर्वाङ्गमङ्गमङ्गेषुसंततम् | श्वासाकुलं वमद्रक्तं धैर्येणाबलनिर्जितम् || २९ ||
kṣatavikṣatasarvāṅgamaṅgamaṅgeṣusaṃtatam | śvāsākulaṃ vamadraktam dhairyenābalanirjitam || 29 ||
His entire body was wounded and covered in injuries. He was breathless, vomiting blood, yet he stood firm with courage, conquering his weakness.
उसका सारा शरीर घायल और घावों से भरा हुआ था। वह साँस फूल रहा था, खून उगल रहा था, फिर भी वह साहस से खड़ा था, अपनी कमजोरी पर विजय पाते हुए।
स प्रणम्य त्वरायुक्तमुवाचेदमुपक्रमम् | संस्तभ्याङ्गव्यथामाशु संततोच्छ्वासमुच्छ्वसन् || ३० ||
sa praṇamya tvarāyuktamuvācedamupakramam | saṃstabhyāṅgavyathāmāśu saṃtato'cchvāsamucchvasan || 30 ||
After bowing, he quickly began to speak, controlling his bodily pain and breathing heavily.
प्रणाम करने के बाद, वह जल्दी से बोलना शुरू कर दिया, अपने शारीरिक दर्द को काबू में करते हुए और भारी साँस लेते हुए।
बलाध्यक्ष उवाच देव त्रयोऽपि दिक्पाला बलेन बहुना सह त्वदाज्ञयेव निर्जेतुं यमं यमपुरं गताः || ३१ ||
balādhyakṣa uvāca deva trayo'pi dikpālā balena bahunā saha tvadājñayeva nirjetuṃ yamaṃ yamapuraṃ gatāḥ || 31 ||
The commander said: O Lord, the three guardians of the directions, along with a large army, have gone to Yama's abode to defeat him by your command.
सेनापति ने कहा: हे देव, तीनों दिक्पाल बड़ी सेना के साथ आपकी आज्ञा से यम को पराजित करने के लिए यमपुर गए हैं।
तद्देशपालनाद्यर्थमशक्तं मामिमं ततः अनुद्रवन्तो बहवो भूपाः प्राप्ता बलादिह || ३२ ||
taddesapālanādyartham aśaktaṃ mām imaṃ tataḥ anudravanto bahavo bhūpāḥ prāptā balād iha || 32 ||
For the purpose of protecting that region, many kings have come here forcibly, considering me incapable of doing so.
उस क्षेत्र की रक्षा के लिए, मुझे असमर्थ मानकर बहुत से राजा बलपूर्वक यहाँ आए हैं।
महत्परबलं प्राप्तमिदं देवस्य मण्डलम् विधीयतां तथाप्राप्तं न देवस्यास्ति दुर्जयम् || ३३ ||
mahatparabalaṃ prāptam idaṃ devasya maṇḍalam vidhīyatāṃ tathāprāptaṃ na devasyāsti durjayam || 33 ||
This great enemy force has arrived in the realm of the Lord. Let it be arranged as it has come; there is nothing invincible for the Lord.
यह महान शत्रु सेना देव के मण्डल में आ गई है। जैसे आई है, वैसे ही व्यवस्था की जाए; देव के लिए कुछ भी अजेय नहीं है।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच अथ तस्मिन्वदत्येवमार्तिमत्याजिविक्षते सहसैवाभ्युवाचेदं प्रविश्य पुरुषोऽपरः || ३४ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca atha tasmin vadaty evam ārtimatyājivikṣate sahasaiva abhyuvācedaṃ praviśya puruṣo'paraḥ || 34 ||
Vasishtha said: While he was speaking thus, feeling distressed and desiring to abandon life, another man suddenly entered and said this.
वसिष्ठ ने कहा: जब वह ऐसे बोल रहा था, दुःखी होकर और जीवन त्यागना चाहता था, तभी एक और व्यक्ति अचानक अंदर आया और यह कहा।
पुरुषा मण्डलस्यास्य विपुला दललीलया स्थितान्यरिबलान्युच्चैश्चतुर्दिक्कं नरेश्वर || ३५ ||
puruṣā maṇḍalasyāsya vipulā dalalīlayā sthitānyaribalānyuccaiścaturdikkam nareśvara || 35 ||
O King, the men of this realm are stationed in large numbers, playing with their forces, and the enemy forces are positioned in all four directions.
हे राजन, इस मण्डल के पुरुष बड़ी संख्या में अपनी सेनाओं के साथ खेल रहे हैं, और शत्रु सेनाएँ चारों दिशाओं में स्थित हैं।
कचच्चक्रगदाप्रासकुन्तकाननकान्तिभिः | वलिता नोऽरिभिर्भूमिर्लोकालोकतटैरिव || ३६ ||
kacaccakragadāprāsakuntakānanakāntibhiḥ | valitā no'ribhirbhūmirlokālokataṭairiva || 36 ||
The earth is surrounded by enemies with various weapons like discs, maces, swords, and arrows, resembling the boundary between the world and the otherworld.
धरती चक्र, गदा, प्रास, कुन्त और अन्य हथियारों से लैस शत्रुओं से घिरी हुई है, जैसे लोक और अलोक की सीमा हो।
पताकायुधयोध्रङ्गाश्चलत्परिकराकुलाः | विसरन्ति रथास्तत्र प्रोड्डीनत्रिपुरौघवत् || ३७ ||
patākāyudhayodhraṅgāścalatparikarākulāḥ | visaranti rathāstatra proḍḍīnatripuraughavat || 37 ||
The chariots, adorned with flags and weapons, are moving swiftly, resembling the swift movement of the three cities (Tripura) in the sky.

karānunnāmayantaḥ khe māṃsavṛkṣavanopamāḥ | bṛṃhanti vāraṇavyūhā varṣāvāridavṛndavat || 38 ||
The elephant formations, resembling forests of flesh-trees, are expanding in the sky, as if they are clouds during the rainy season.
हाथियों की सेनाएँ, जो मांस के वृक्षों के जंगल की तरह लगती हैं, आकाश में फैल रही हैं, जैसे वर्षा के मौसम में बादल।
नतोन्नतानि कुर्वन्तः स्पन्देनोर्वीनतोन्नतैः | हेषन्ते हयसंघाता वातस्पन्दमहाब्धिवत् || ३९ ||
natonnatāni kurvantaḥ spandena urvīnatonnataiḥ | heṣante hayasaṃghātā vātaspandamahābdhivat || 39 ||
The groups of horses are neighing, creating undulations on the earth, resembling the vast ocean with its waves moved by the wind.
घोड़ों के समूह हिनहिना रहे हैं, धरती पर लहरें पैदा कर रहे हैं, जैसे हवा से उठी लहरों वाला विशाल समुद्र।
रसन्ति तुरगापुराः फेनिलावर्तपातिनः | सर्वतो वलयाकारा लवणार्णववारिवत् || ४० ||
rasanti turagāpurāḥ phenilāvartapātinaḥ | sarvato valayākārā lavaṇārṇavavārivat || 40 ||
The horse cities are shining, with foamy waves falling all around, resembling the salty ocean water.
घोड़ों के नगर चमक रहे हैं, फेनिल लहरें चारों ओर गिर रही हैं, जैसे नमकीन समुद्र का पानी।
आकाशकान्तिसन्नाहैर्दिशं प्रति बलं बलम् | उदेत्यलघुकल्लोलैः प्रलयार्णवपूरवत् || ४१ ||
ākāśakāntisannāhairdiśaṃ prati balaṃ balam | udetyalaghukallolaiḥ pralayārṇavapūravat || 41 ||
With the splendor of the sky, in every direction, forces rise like the waves of the ocean of destruction.
आकाश की कान्ति से सुसज्जित, सभी दिशाओं में, सेनाएँ प्रलय के समुद्र की लहरों की तरह उठती हैं।
शरास्त्रशस्त्रसन्नाहमुकुटाभरणत्विषः | कचन्ति त्वत्प्रतापाग्नेर्ज्वाला इव तदङ्गगाः || ४२ ||
śarāstrasannāhamukuṭābharaṇatviṣaḥ | kacanti tvatpratāpāgnerjvālā iva tadaṅgagāḥ || 42 ||
The arrows, weapons, armor, crowns, and ornaments shine like the flames of your fiery splendor.
तीर, अस्त्र-शस्त्र, कवच, मुकुट और आभूषण आपके तेज की ज्वालाओं की तरह चमकते हैं।
समत्स्यमकरव्यूहाः सचक्रावर्तवृत्तयः | उद्यन्ति सैन्यसंघट्टैः कल्लोला जलधेरिव || ४३ ||
samatsyamakaravyūhāḥ sacakrāvartavṛttayaḥ | udyanti sainyasaṃghaṭṭaiḥ kallolā jaladheriva || 43 ||
The formations of fish and crocodiles, with circular movements, rise like the waves of the ocean during the clash of armies.
मछली और मगरमच्छ की व्यूह रचनाएँ, गोल चक्करों के साथ, सेनाओं के टकराव के दौरान समुद्र की लहरों की तरह उठती हैं।
परस्परपरामर्शात्कुन्ताद्यायुधपङ्क्तयः | कोपादिवोग्रहुंकारैर्ज्वलन्ति विरटन्ति च || ४४ ||
parasparaparāmarśātkuntādyāyudhapaṅktayaḥ | kopādivograhukārairjvalanti viratanti ca || 44 ||
With mutual consultation, the rows of weapons like spears and others, blaze and roar with fierce cries of anger.
परस्पर परामर्श से, भाले आदि अस्त्र-शस्त्रों की पंक्तियाँ, क्रोध के भयंकर गर्जन से प्रज्वलित होती हैं और गरजती हैं।
इति कर्तुमहं देव विज्ञप्तिं स्वामिनेरितः | तस्मान्मण्डलसीमान्तगुल्माद्युद्धाय गच्छता || ४५ ||
iti kartumahaṃ deva vijñaptiṃ svāmineritaḥ | tasmānmandalasīmāntagulmādyuddhāya gacchatā || 45 ||
Thus, O Lord, I have been ordered by the master to inform you. Therefore, go to the boundary of the battlefield for the battle.
इस प्रकार, हे देव, मैं स्वामी द्वारा आदेशित होकर आपको सूचित करने आया हूँ। अतः, युद्ध के लिए रणभूमि की सीमा पर जाओ।
तमहं देव गच्छामि शक्त्यृष्टिशरसंगतः | मयेहावेदितं सर्वं देवो जानात्यतः परम् || ४६ ||
tamahaṃ deva gacchāmi śaktyṛṣṭiśarasaṃgataḥ | mayehāveditaṃ sarvaṃ devo jānātyataḥ param || 46 ||
I go to the divine being, equipped with the arrows of power and wisdom. Here, everything is known by me; beyond this, the divine knows.
मैं दिव्य प्राणी के पास जाता हूँ, शक्ति और बुद्धि के बाणों से सुसज्जित | यहाँ, सब कुछ मुझे ज्ञात है; इसके पार, दिव्य जानता है।
श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच | इत्युक्त्वाथ प्रणामं च स कृत्वा त्वरया ययौ | कृत्वा गुलुगुलारावं शान्तो वीचिरिवाम्बुधेः || ४७ ||
śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | ityuktvātha praṇāmaṃ ca sa kṛtvā tvarayā yayau | kṛtvā gulugulārāvaṃ śānto vīcirivāmbudheḥ || 47 ||

saṃbhrāntamantrinṛpayodhaniyogināganārīrathāśvaparicārakanāgaraugham | rājño gṛhaṃ svabhayatolitahetisārthaṃ caṇḍānilākulamahāvanatulyamāsīt || 48 ||
The king's palace became chaotic with frightened ministers, soldiers, ascetics, women, chariots, horses, attendants, and citizens, all agitated by the fierce wind, resembling a great storm.
राजा का महल डरे हुए मंत्रियों, सैनिकों, योगियों, महिलाओं, रथों, घोड़ों, सेवकों और नागरिकों से भर गया, सब तेज हवा से व्याकुल, एक बड़े तूफान की तरह।
