Bhushunda said: Know that from consciousness alone arises the distinction between the conscious and the non-conscious, just as fire in water is not different from water itself.
Due to the non-difference between the knower and the known, let there be peace. Just as the sky is free from any support, so too is the consciousness in the heart free from any limitations.
ataḥ śilodarābho'si vyomakośopamopi ca | brahmaikaghanarūpatvādajo'navayavo'si ca || 8 ||
Therefore, you are like a stone within the belly, and like the sky within a pot. Due to the nature of Brahman being one and solid, you are unborn and without parts.
You are the knower. You are not anything or something. Be free from fear and impurity. In the reflection of the non-conscious, be calm in your own self.
It is not appropriate to say what the nature of Brahman is, because in the infinite, supreme reality, there is no distinction between self and non-self.
The impossibility of existence that depends on non-existence does not bind the word 'pada' in the infinite. Such incorrect statements about nature, etc., are not valid.
Due to the impossibility of the eternal and infinite in the absence of ownership, the assertion of inherent nature does not stand when ownership is established.
That which is liberated is found through the meanings of the word 'I'. That which is united is dissolved when examined through the meanings of the word 'I'.
The difference between the world and Brahman is non-different, similar to the play of synonymous words. It is said to be merely a concept, not real, just like the difference between a bracelet and gold.
