श्रीवसिष्ठ उवाच । यन्मुक्तावलिता रत्नभूषिता भान्ति योषितः । मदेन्दावुदिते क्षुब्धकामक्षीरार्णवोर्मयः || १ ||

śrīvasiṣṭha uvāca | yanmuktāvalitā ratnabhūṣitā bhānti yoṣitaḥ | madendāvudite kṣubdhakāmakṣīrārṇavormayaḥ || 1 ||

English

Śrīvasiṣṭha said: The women adorned with pearls and jewels shine brightly, like the waves of the ocean of love stirred by the rising moon.

हिन्दी

श्रीवसिष्ठ ने कहा: मोती और रत्नों से सजी हुई स्त्रियाँ चमकती हैं, जैसे चन्द्रमा के उदय से उत्तेजित प्रेम के सागर की लहरें।

English

The eyes of the women, swaying on their cheeks, hold the beauty of the golden lotus petals.

English

In the gardens and groves, the fragrant flowers on the earth shine beautifully, like the servants of the mind.

The women, adorned with ornaments of vultures, jackals, and owls, are compared to the moon, sandalwood, and lotus.

अल्पाल्पाष्ठीवदाकारा भुजाक्रूरास्थिशङ्कवः | महाबाहुलताशब्दैर्वर्ण्यन्ते कविभिः शुभैः || ७ ||

The poets describe the arms as being slightly bent, with cruel bones, and with the sound of great strength.

आपातमन्दमधुरा मध्ये द्वन्द्वानुबन्धिनी | शीघ्रावसानविरला लक्ष्मीरप्यभिवाञ्छ्यते || ९ ||

āpātamandamadhurā madhye dvandvānubandhinī | śīghrāvasānaviralā lakṣmīrapyabhivāñchyate || 9 ||

English

Even Lakshmi, who is sweet and mild in appearance, bound by duality in the middle, and quickly ending without interruption, is desired.

लक्ष्मी, जो दिखने में मधुर और नरम है, बीच में द्वैत से बंधी हुई है, और बिना रुकावट के जल्दी समाप्त होती है, उसे भी चाहा जाता है।

समुपैति मतिर्दुःखं सुखं च शतशाखताम् | दुःखशाखास्तु जायन्ते नानाकर्मफलाः श्रियः || १० ||

samupaiti matirduḥkhaṃ sukhaṃ ca śataśākhatām | duḥkhaśākhāstu jāyante nānākarmaphalāḥ śriyaḥ || 10 ||

English

The mind attains happiness and sorrow in hundreds of branches. The branches of sorrow arise from various results of actions.

मन दुःख और सुख को सैकड़ों शाखाओं में प्राप्त करता है। दुःख की शाखाएँ विभिन्न कर्मों के फलों से उत्पन्न होती हैं।

बद्धजालघनाकाराः कारार्थमिव रज्जवः | दच्छदःसदृशा वाचः प्रतानगहने स्थिताः || ११ ||

baddhajālaghanākārāḥ kārārthamiva rajjavaḥ | dacchadaḥsadṛśā vācaḥ pratānagahane sthitāḥ || 11 ||

English

The words are like ropes bound in a dense network, resembling a canopy, standing in a thick spread.

शब्द घने जाल में बंधे हुए रस्सियों की तरह हैं, एक छतरी की तरह लगते हैं, घने फैलाव में खड़े हैं।

The continuous flow of delusion spreads the essence of actions | The Yamuna, dark as the night, flows during the rainy season for a long time.

कटूकृतान्तःकरणो नानासुखविशारदः | वर्धते हि गतस्नेहं जन्मप्रतिविषारसः || १३ ||

kaṭūkṛtāntaḥkaraṇo nānāsukhaviśāradaḥ | vardhate hi gatasnehaṃ janmaprativiṣārasaḥ || 13 ||

English

The one with a bitter heart, skilled in various pleasures, indeed grows, devoid of affection, with the poison of birth.

जिसका दिल कटु है, वह विविध सुखों में कुशल है, वह स्नेह से रहित होकर, जन्म के विष से विकसित होता है।

व्याधूतजर्जराकीर्णजनतापर्णराजयः | स्वकर्मपवना वान्ति नानावकररेणवः || १४ ||

vyādhūtajarjarākīrṇajanatāparṇarājayaḥ | svakarmapavanā vānti nānāvakarareṇavaḥ || 14 ||

English

The kings of people, scattered and worn out, vomit their own actions like various kinds of dust.

कालः कवलितानन्तजगत्पक्वफलोऽप्ययम् | घस्मराचारजठरः कल्पैरपि न तृप्यति || १५ ||

English

Time, which has swallowed the infinite world and its ripe fruits, with its insatiable stomach of destructive actions, is not satisfied even with eons.

Drinking the wind of delusion, the skin of those who move crookedly shines with strange, cold mountain lights.

Without the rise of the moon of discrimination, the night of youth passes like darkness, afflicted by the ghost of worries.

जिह्वा जर्जरतामेति प्राकृतानुनयज्वरैः| पद्मकोटरकोणस्थमपि सूत्रं हिमैरिव || १८ ||

jihvā jarjaratāmeti prākṛtānunayajvaraiḥ| padmakoṭarakoṇasthamapi sūtraṃ himairiva || 18 ||

English

The tongue becomes weak with the fever of natural enticements, like a thread placed in the corner of a lotus bud by frost.

The great pillar of sorrow and grief, full of thorns and difficulties, becomes a tree with a thousand branches due to the firmness of poverty.

The owl of greed, with its mind and consciousness destroyed by the emptiness of pride, wanders in the night of illusion filled with deception.

Having previously grasped the ears, the old age cat, resolute in its decision, destroys the mouse of youth.

Bound by the threads of hope, she remains awake, an old bird with worn-out wings, confined within the cage of her own desires and senses.

For some time, the noble ones rejoice in creation, but in an instant, they are thrown into the terrible mire of hell, overwhelmed by fear.

In the delightful path to heaven, the divine juices sparkle like fragments of the moon, blue sapphires, and emeralds.

Adorned with various fruits and garlands, covered with the web of desires, she blossoms, full of joy and delight, with actions like a blooming lotus.

The beautiful creation, shining in the world, is controlled by the cunning and old vulture of death.

The wheel of time is turned by the one who creates numerous beings that are destroyed in an instant.

Countless eons have arisen in the immovable place, and the forests of the world have been burned by the fire of the ages.

Existence is characterized by endless states of being and non-being, happiness and suffering, leading to constant change.

Even when disturbed by simultaneous upheavals and shaken by the chains of desires, and even when struck by great thunderbolts, the steadfast mind is not broken.

English

Despite being praised by hundreds of fleeing enemies, the sons of Danu, and carrying the broken Indra-like body due to the destruction of existence, the desire remains.

यदि सैकड़ों भागते हुए शत्रुओं, दनु के पुत्रों द्वारा प्रशंसित किया जाए, और अस्तित्व के विनाश के कारण टूटे हुए इंद्र-जैसे शरीर को ले जाया जाए, तब भी इच्छा बनी रहती है।

English

The continuous flow of the dust of creation enters unceasingly, always driven by destiny, into the throat of the serpent of time.
