tato muhūrtamātreṇa ratnasānau same śubhe | samālambhanapuṣpāṇāṃ tābhyāṃ vai rāśayaḥ kṛtāḥ || 17 ||

Then, within a short time, in the auspicious and level jewel-mine, heaps of embracing flowers were made by them.

There, Kumbha, with great respect, bathed the king whose shoulders were like the temples of an elephant, with auspicious rituals.

pūjayāmāsatuḥ snātau tatra devapitṛnmunīn | yathā kriyāphale'nicchau kriyātyāge tathaiva tau || 22 ||

After bathing, they worshipped the gods, ancestors, and sages there, as they did not desire the fruits of their actions, and similarly, they were indifferent to the abandonment of actions.

nityajñānarasātṛptau vyavasthāyāṃ jagatsthiteḥ | cakrāte bhojanaṃ bhavyaṃ tāvanyonyasamīhitam || 23 ||

Satisfied with the eternal bliss of knowledge, they engaged in the divine meal, mutually desiring each other, while maintaining the order of the world.

Wearing white garments made from the cloth of the Kalpa tree, they consumed the fruits and gradually returned to their original place.

etāvatātha kālena tayorjanyatrasotkayoḥ | priyaṃ kartumivāstādriṃ drāgityevāviśadraviḥ || 25 ||

After some time, the radiance, as if to please them, quickly entered the mountain where they had originally come from.

atha sandhyākrame vṛtte kṛte japyāghamarṣaṇe | vivāhadarśanāyaiva tārājāle khamāgate || 26 ||

After completing the evening rituals and the purification mantras, the stars appeared in the sky as if to witness the wedding.

mithunaikasakhīyāmā kumudotkarahāsinī | prāleyajālaprakaraṃ vikirantī samāyayau || 27 ||

Accompanied by her friend, the bride, with a smile like a blooming lotus, scattering frost-like jewels, arrived.

ratnadīpānbahūnsānau kumbhaḥ samyagayojayat | jyotīṃṣīndvarkayuktāni padmodbhava ivāmbare || 28 ||

The pot was beautifully arranged with many jewel-lamps, shining like stars in the sky, as if born from a lotus.

bhūṣayāmāsa rājānaṃ strītvaṃ gacchanniśāgame | candanāgurukarpūrapūrairmṛgajakuṅkumaiḥ || 29 ||

He adorned the king, who was entering the night's festivities, with sandalwood, agarwood, camphor, fragrant powders, and musk.

hārakeyūrakaṭakais tathā kalpalatāṃśukaiḥ | sraguddāmāvataṃsaiś ca mālyaiś ca vividhocitaiḥ || 30 ||

With necklaces, armlets, bracelets, and various beautiful garlands and ornaments, he was adorned.

tathā kalpalatāguccchairmandāraiḥ pārijātakaiḥ | saṃtānairbahuratnaiśca maulinā cendurūpiṇā || 31 ||

Thus, adorned with clusters of wish-fulfilling vines, mandara flowers, and parijata flowers, with many jewels and a moon-like crest.

etāvatātha kālena vadhūtvaṃ kumbha āyayau | ghanastanabharākrānto babhūvāśu vilāsavān || 32 ||

Thus, in this short time, the pot attained the status of a bride, becoming quickly charming with breasts full and heavy.

idaṃ saṃcintayāmāsa saṃpanno'yamahaṃ vadhūḥ | kāmāyātmā mayā deyaḥ kāryaṃ kālocitaṃ kil || 33 ||

She thought, 'I am now a complete bride; I should give myself to my husband, as it is the appropriate time for such an act.'

iyamasmivadhūḥ kāntā bhartā tvaṃ me puraḥsthitaḥ | gṛhāṇa kāma māmehi kālo'yaṃ tava hṛcchayaḥ || 34 ||

I am your beloved bride, and you are my husband standing before me. Accept me, O beloved, for this is the time for your heart's desire.

iti saṃcintya bhartāramagrasthagahanasthitam | udayantamivādityaṃ ratiḥ kāmamivābhyagāt || 35 ||

Thus, thinking of her husband who was standing before her in the inner chamber, she approached him like Rati approaching Kama, as if he were the rising sun.

ahaṃ madanikā nāma bhāryāsmi tava mānada | pādayoste praṇāmo'yaṃ sasnehaṃ kriyate mayā || 36 ||

I am Madanika, your wife, O respected one. I bow at your feet with affection.

ityuktvā sānavadyāṅgī lajjāvanamitānanā | lolālakena śirasā praṇanāma lasatpatim || 37 ||

Having said this, she, with her flawless body and face bent with modesty, bowed to her husband with her trembling head.

uvācedaṃ ca he nātha tvaṃ māṃ bhūṣaya bhūṣaṇaiḥ | krameṇāgniṃ ca saṃjvālya matpāṇigrahaṇaṃ kuru || 38 ||

She said, 'O Lord, adorn me with ornaments. Gradually kindle the fire and accept my hand in marriage.'

O king, you make me extremely passionate. In the marriage of love, you overcome desire and stand firm.

indorivāṃśujālāni rājanmālyāni tāni te | merugaṅgāpravāhābhāṃ dhatte hārastavorasi || 40 ||

O king, those garlands of yours are like the rays of the moon. The necklace on your chest is like the flow of the Ganges from Mount Meru.

mandārakusumaprotaiḥ kuntalairnṛpa rājase | kanakābjamivollolairbhṛṅgaiḥ khacitakesaraiḥ || 41 ||

O King, your hair, adorned with garlands of Mandara flowers, shines like golden lotuses swaying with bees nestled in their petals.

ratnāṃśujālaiḥ kusumaiḥ śriyā sthairyena tejasā | ratnasthānaṃ vibho merumabhibhūyāvatiṣṭhasē || 42 ||

O Lord, with the radiance of gem-like rays, flowers, prosperity, stability, and splendor, you surpass Mount Meru, the abode of jewels.

evamādi vadantau tau bhaviṣyannavadampatī | pracchannapūrvadāmpatyau mithastuṣṭau babhūvatuḥ || 43 ||

Thus speaking, those two, who were to be future spouses, were pleased with each other, having concealed their previous marital status.
