Parigha said: O king, surely you are awake now; you have reached that highest state. Your mind has grown fully cool and calm, and you shine like the full moon.
You are pure, wide, full, and deep, with an open heart. You are free, as if loosened by the play of the wind at the shore, and you shine like the ocean.
You have mastered the line between what has substance and what has none. With your great wisdom you know all this exactly as it stands, whole and undivided.
Your very being stands as one who knows the truth of what is and what is not, whose mind has risen above trouble, and who is free from the restlessness of coming and going.
vastunā'vastunevevāntaramṛteneva sāgaraḥ apunahprakṣayāyeva pare tṛpto'si sundara || 8 ||
For you there is no difference between what is real and what is not. You are content in truth alone, like the ocean that never runs dry. You are satisfied in the highest, beautiful one.
And since nothing here is worth taking, how can anything be worth rejecting? Without something to set against it, how can we even speak of the rejected?
All things are worthless in themselves, though in time they may seem otherwise. In me, both these states of mind, thinking things worthless and thinking them not worthless, have long since faded away.
It is only because of place and time that a worthless thing here seems to gain worth, and a thing of worth seems to become worthless. The wise should give up both praising and blaming such things.
rāgānnindāstutī loke rāgaśca parivāñchitam | vāñchite ca mahodāraṃ vastu śobhanabuddhinā || 13 ||
In this world, praise and blame come from liking, and liking comes from strong wanting. And in the thing that is wanted, a mind that calls it beautiful sees something great and noble.
In the three worlds, women, mountains, oceans, forests, and all their kinds, every being is empty of real substance. In truth, there is no essence here at all.
māṃsāsthidārumṛdratnamaye jagati jarjare | vāñchanīyavihīne'smiñśūnye kimiva vāñchyate || 15 ||
In this world made of flesh, bone, wood, clay, and jewels, a world that is worn out and empty, with nothing in it worth wanting, what is there left to want?
Enough of these long strings of words. There is only one view that truly fits here, for happiness: if the mind within, its restlessness calmed, stays even and content, that is the highest state of all.
